I do not own these characters. Repeat they are not mine.
Usagi Tatsuha was upset. Well, upset is a bit of an understatement.
You see it is now three weeks in to summer break and he has done absolutely nothing.
He has yet to convince his father that a motorcycle is a completely appropriate vehicle for an eighteen year old boy, he has also yet to convince his father that he should go visit his brother in Tokyo for a few weeks and he most defianantly has not found a way to meet Sakuma Ryuichi!
You see, Tatasuha has a bit of a problem, more of an obsession really. His family just thinks it is a phase, that he will grow out of his obsession with Sakuma-san.
Sometimes even Tatsuha thinks he is crazy, but in some brief moments of clarity he can feel it. The tiniest pull to something he is suppose to do, somewhere he should be, someone he should be with. Ryuichi feels it too, he knows what he is missing.
So Tatsuha sits, and waits. Waits for his father to come in from the garden so he can try his new strategy. Tatsuha never stops plotting, and this time he has a surefire way to get himself to Tokyo. 'Whatever it takes' he tells himself, even though he is silently dreading where this will take him.
He waits silently. Re-running the sentences in the front of his mind, but somewhere deep down in the recesses of his mind he knows that if he doesn't make it to Tokyo in the next few days he will miss something terribly important.
Tatsuha is deep in thought when his father returns inside. He does not notice his father until the elder is tapping him on the shoulder asking him what he wants for dinner.
"TATSUHA!" His father shouts.
"What?.." He asks, slightly disoriented.
"What would you like for dinner son?" the elder repeats.
Tatsuha says nothing, trying to keep an air of quiet misery about him. It was not as much of an act as he originally thought, finding out quickly that he was actually quite miserable.
He nodds silently when his father suggests, what he would assume is the mans favorite meal. The rest of the night dredges on silently, the elder makes an attempt at conversation, but falls flat with things like 'you miss school?' or 'the weather is nice'.
Finally it is an appropriate time to go to sleep and Tatsuha gladly heads for the stairs, but what stopped in his tracks when his father called him back.
The elder looked pensive and genuinely worried.
"Tatsuha" he asks, "are you unhappy here?"
"No", he responds quietly. "But, I feel I am missing something and that I am needed elsewhere".
Tatsuha smiled inside and knew his plan had gone off without a hitch.
His father looked at him carefully, let out a sight and nodded.
"I will give you enough money for gas and food for a week so you will not be a burden on Eiri, after that you will need to get a job. I expect you to return home at least a week before your classes. Take the cell phone, I would like one phone call from you a week."
Tatsuha nodded gratefully, but knew better than to say anything. His voice would betray him and he knew his father was done. He took his queue and walked up the stairs quickly, smiling all the way. He packed in a rush, it took most of the night, but he was sure he had everything he needed in one book bag. Lastly, he grabbed all of his emergency cash stuffing it in to his wallet as he crept down the stairs. It was almost daybreak and his father would be up soon. he did not want to give him the chance to change his mind.
Entering the kitchen he was surprised. Sitting on the table was the cell phone as to be expected, beside it lay a silver card, and a note. 'Use as much as you need for the next week, any time after that it is only for emergency's and I expect a full explanation.' It was signed '-D' .
