Gundam SEED Fan Fiction ❯ Gundan SEED - The Beginning of a New Era ❯ Chapter One ( Chapter 1 )
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is a het story, meaning male/female relationships. I don't have a problem with slash and there will be slash in this story but it's not very focused on. This is a story about life, how they overcame the trials that stand in their paths and what happened after the war (or series).
There will be action and angst but it won't start until a few chapters have passed. At the moment, you're going to read fluffiness personified that just make you want to puke, (heck even though I wrote this, I want to gag at the mushiness) and it'll continue for a few more chapters.
A slight warning, there is sex in this, don't read it if you don't like it. I tried to keep it as vague and short as possible and nothing higher then a R or really, really graphic but it's an important part of the plot.
Also, I've noticed that the characters of Gundam SEED have their names spelt in a hundred different ways. I've decided to just spell them in the manner that suited me.
Anyways, hope you enjoy my story and please review, so that I know what you think of it.

Chapter One
Out in deep space a boy floated, drifting and still amongst the dancing parts of broken Mobile Suits. Upon a closer look a person might notice the water that floated within the confines of his helmet and would soon come to the realization that they were not water but tears.
He seemed almost dead until he opened his eyes leaving no doubt to any person passing-by that he was still alive.
Kira stared into the endless blackness of space as the stars twinkled at him and noticed the sudden stillness. Nothing moved - no sudden flash of light and then the emptiness as the light suffocated with the lack of oxygen, no swift movement of Mobile Armors and the shooting of light as it hit its enemies. There was nothing.
He realized then that the war was over, this sudden silence attesting to the ending of a war. But perhaps the war had only stopped for a second and would continue soon after. Such endless fighting and death and for what exactly? So that each race could prove that they were better? Revenge? Power? What?
"Why have we come to this place?" he whispered to the stars that shone down at him, as if they could answer his question. He himself didn't know and that seemed to scare him more then he realized, he shut his eyes tightly against the silence - the stars couldn't answer - he knew that but somehow he had hoped that they would.
His body floated amongst the debris of his Gundam, aching with exhaustion and pain. He opened his eyes as if to take one last look at the stars. He knew it was impossible for his comrades to find him in such an empty void of nothingness, knew that once you floated away from your ship or suit that it would be virtually impossible to find a small body in such an open space. It could take years to find his body and by then it would be too late - much too late.
He blinked and suddenly a star began to shine brightly drawing his attention, it shone far more brilliantly and beautifully then any other star beside it, it's white light growing bigger and closer as if it was reaching out for him, beckoning him .
His eyes widened and abruptly the brightness vanished and before him was a Mobile Armor! As it drew closer, he saw the cockpit door was opened. Asurren, Cagalli, he realized in disbelief, for a moment he wasn't sure what he was seeing and shut his eyes tightly and then opened them.
But still they were there, his sister and best-friend smiled at him, their tears of happiness, their expressions of relief, friendship and love reaching out to him and he smiled.
No this was real.
This time his tears weren't of sadness but of happiness. They had done it, they had created the world that they had so wished and fought for - our world. A world without fighting, without wars and death, without the loss of friends and the killing of enemies.
A world of peace.
The Mobile Armor drew closer and Asurren reached out, his green eyes shinning with tears -they were all crying but it didn't matter. It was alright to cry.
Kira held out his hand and smiled reassuringly, ignoring the droplets of tears floating around in his helmet. Their hands touched and held tightly, this was real, it wasn't a dream - they were alive.
Asurren pulled him in and Cagalli reached out with one hand, hugging him as tightly as she could from her seat.
"Kira!" she cried, her lips trembling.
Asurren grabbed his shoulder and gripped it tightly; the simple gesture seemed to convey friendship, comradeship and happiness all together. Cagalli grasped Asurren by the back of his suit and held tightly, they seemed to be crying harder then before, releasing their pain, anger and frustration. They laughed and pulled away slightly, it was time to get back - they had people waiting for them.
Cagalli turned her Mobile Armor around and headed towards the approaching ship Archangel, when Kira's head snapped up, his eyes searching the emptiness, almost frantically.
Asurren noticed the action and frowned in concern. "Kira! What is it?" he asked. "Is it an enemy?" he demanded, the thought that they may still have to fight, scared him more then he realized. Their Mobile Armor was not up to another fight and with an open cock-pit, they were an obvious target.
Kira shook his head and stared into the vast space. "Mwu," he whispered.
Cagalli stared at him. "What?"
Kira turned to her, his eyes begging her, begging for what she didn't know. "His out there, I can feel it! His alive!"
Asurren glanced at him startled. Cagalli gasped before her golden eyes narrowed in determination. "Show me." She demanded.
Kira nodded and then pointed in the direction. "We have to hurry."
And Cagalli's Mobile Armor Strike Rouge shot towards that direction.

"Approaching Strike Rouge!" Sai stated as he watched the mobile armor heading towards them, he was smiling; he was glad that they had made it.
"Open docking bay!" Maryu Ramiasu commanded from her captain seat, her eyes shinning brightly. Kira was alive and for a moment her heart lifted up slightly before squeezing painfully as she thought of someone else who wasn't alive and then quickly moved her mind away from that thought. Now was not the time for such thoughts, later when she was alone, she could cry and mourn all she wanted - now - this very moment, she had to be strong.
"Communication line between Archangel and Strike Rouge has been opened." Milliaria exclaimed. "Cagalli! Please answer!"
"This is Colonial Cagalli Yura Asha, I have Kira and Asurren!"
Milliaria took in a deep breath and smiled, glancing up at the Dearka who stood beside her chair as if to share this moment. She wasn't sure how it happened but she had come to care about this boy, who was so different from Tohru. Dearka was colder, harder and Tohru… was gentle, kinder. Dearka caught her gaze and smiled, his pink eyes incredibly gentle and for a second her breath caught in her throat and she quickly looked away. What was happening to her?
Kira's voice came over the line "We can't come in just yet, we have Mwu to save!"
Maryu stilled and closed her eyes, Kira didn't know she realized, he didn't know. Tears floated from her eyes and for a moment she found her self unable to speak. She opened her them and swallowed, forcing herself to take control. "Kira," she said quietly, her voice as gentle as possibly, a slight tremor was heard but could be ignored. "Mwu is dead, he die-" her voice caught against her throat and she quickly cleared it. "Mwu died protecting us." The words fell from her lips like stones.
"You're wrong! His alive, I can feel it!" Kira shouted and then his voice calmed. "His alive Maryu." And in those words were such confidence, so sure that he was right that Maryu found herself unable to resist hoping but she forced that hope away, she had seen it, she had seen his suit disintegrate before her.
"Captain Maryu, we're going." Cagalli said over the line and they watched as the approaching Mobile Armor Strike Rouge shot past their ship. There was a silence in the command centre; no one said anything but their glances spoke volumes - they were hoping.
Maryu had her eyes shut tightly; her fists clenched and opened her eyes, determination sparking in them. "Follow Strike Rouge." She ordered and in her heart she hoped - she couldn't help but hope. She had to believe in Kira.

Rakusu closed her dark blue eyes and smiled before opening them, her pink hair obstructing her vision and she flicked them out of the way as she stared out of the command view. "I'm glad," she whispered, "That you're alive Kira."
She turned to Captain Andrew Bartfeldt. "Follow them."
Andrew Bartfeldt smiled and nodded and the ship Eternal followed.

Captain Edneil Kisaka watched as both ships followed the Mobile Armor Strike Rouge and smiled, he was truly glad the Cagalli was safe but his heart was burdened. They had lost so many people, the girls who piloted M-1 Astrey and some personnel who were in the area of the ship that was hit. Compared to the other ships within the Earth Alliance and Z.A.F.T perhaps that was not many, but to him - that was too many.
"Open communication lines with Archangel and Eternal," he ordered.
A large holoscreen popped opened and Captain Maryu Ramiasu appeared along with Rakusu Klein and Captain Andrew Bartfeldt.
"This is Captain Edneil Kisaka of the Kusanagis, what is your status?" he asked, meaning what in the bloody hell is Cagalli doing and why are you following her?
Captain Maryu nodded, "They've gone to retrieve Major Mwu La Fraga - we had previously believed that Mwu had died saving Archangel and crew but Kira believes Mwu may still be alive. We're following them for support."
Edneil nodded, "We'll be right behind you," and ended the conversation.
Edneil turned to his command team, "Set coordinates in the direction of Strike Rouge - we're following them."

Asurren looked up and saw Tori, Kira's robotic bird for a pet and smiled, he could remember when he had first given it to Kira and now… it represented a lot of things for them. He hung on tightly to the cockpit and wandered how they were going to fit Mwu in it, what with already three people taking up most of the space. Maybe Cagalli could sit on his lap? He smiled at that thought and wandered what her reaction would be and then wandered why his mind was pondering this. He looked straight ahead seeing only debris and the occasional dead body floating out into space, he only hoped that the Major was alive.
"There!" Kira said, his eyes intent as he pointed ahead.
Both Cagalli and Asurren leaned forward, searching for the Major when Asurren spotted a body floating amongst the floating metal and broken mobile suits. It was the spacesuit that he recognized, the purple color seemingly standing out brightly against the blackness.
"Hurry!" Kira urged.
Cagalli nodded, having seen the floating body as well and directed her Mobile Armor towards it but inside she couldn't help but feel a sense of dread, were they too late?
As they drew closer, the silence grew louder, almost deafening - Mwu's body was so still, there wasn't so much as a twitch of movement.
They came up close to Mwu and Kira reached out and grabbed the Major by the arm. "I have him!"
Asurren nodded and helped Kira pull the Major's lifeless body in front of the cockpit, there was no way they could fit him in it but that was the closest they could get him.
"His alive," Kira whispered, his eyes shinning, he had been so afraid that when they would find him, he would be dead. He only hoped that Mwu would make it out of this okay.

Milliaria head snapped up. "Incoming message from Mobile Armor Strike Rouge!"
"Archangel, this is Cagalli, we have Mwu! I repeat we have Mwu! His alive but I don't know for how long."
Maryu gasped, her eyes widening as she straightened in her seat and grabbed the phone situated next to her. "Medical crew on standby!" She ordered before slamming the phone down. "Open docking bay!" She shouted.
They were right behind them, she thought, please she begged silently, please let him live through this, please!
She watched as the Mobile Armor Strike Rouge entered Archangel and sighed, please! And got up, rushing out of the command centre and down into the hanger but was stopped when she saw the medical team floating past her at alarming speed as they pulled a medical strap bed behind them, their destination towards the medical bay.
"Mwu," she whispered, please live, she thought fighting the tears that were pressing behind her eyes, please live!
She turned and followed the rushing medical team. "What's his injuries?" she demanded from one of them.
The woman turned to her, her eyes shadowed with concern. "His critical, at this moment we're unsure as to exactly what his injuries are but we do know that he has hyperthermia, his body floating out in space like that wasn't good for him, especially when space temperature is below zero."
Maryu stilled and realized that she had never been so scared in her life, she couldn't lose Mwu - she couldn't!
"I'm sorry Captain but I have to get back to saving the Major," and the woman saluted her.
Maryu automatically returned the salute but inside she was frozen, when she had watched Mwu's mobile armor disintegrate she had been devastated, thinking he had died along with it, but this - this was far more devastating. She had hoped and now… no! She thought furiously, I can't think that way! He has to make it - he has to!
She couldn't live without him.
"Maryu?"
Maryu straightened and turned, her eyes wide. "Kira!" She exclaimed, there was so much she wanted to say to him, to this boy who had saved her and the people in Archangel over and over again. Every time she looked him in the eyes, she would see the wounds that seemed to bind to his soul and she'd blame herself. "You're alive," she whispered, fighting the tears that again threatened to fall and quickly looked away. "Thank you." She swallowed past the lump in her throat. "Thank you for saving him."
Kira smiled - that smile that made him older then he really was. "I couldn't lose another friend, Maryu. I just couldn't," and floated away.
"Kira!"
Kira stopped and turned around.
"The war… it's over." She told him. "Z.A.F.T is preparing a peace conference with the Earth Alliance. It's over."
Kira smiled. "I know." He looked down and quickly wiped away his tears. "I know." He repeated and turned around, floating away.
Maryu felt her eyes burn and tried to smile as if to pretend that everything was alright but it was hard for her. Her tears danced around her, evidence that her façade was that - fake. There was so much pain, she thought and hugged herself as her façade cracked and the tears became a flood, knowing that there was no one watching, she cried harder then ever before, in this empty corridor where people could come across her and she found that she didn't care. She couldn't stay strong - not now.

Kira entered the elevator, descending down into the hanger, he had to leave, there was someone waiting for him - someone precious to him. Rakusu Klein, he thought, I'm coming.
The elevator doors slid opened and suddenly she was there, he stood frozen unable to believe his eyes as he saw her, her smile and the gentleness in her eyes. For a moment he didn't move as he watched her and then he was floating towards her, his hands out before him as he grasped her shoulders and pulled her towards him. "Rakusu," he whispered.
"Kira," she exclaimed softly, her eyes shining with tears.
They came together tightly, hugging each other as if they would never let go. "I'm glad," she whispered in his ear. "So very glad."
Kira remained silent, simply holding her and buried his head against her hair and breathing in her scent - for the first time in a long time he was truly at peace. He pulled slightly away so that he could look her in the face, into her eyes and what he found made his heart beat faster and his body tingle. His head descended on its own violation and he touched his lips against hers, he didn't care that there might be an audience, all he cared about was her - his precious someone.
As his mouth opened, so did hers and their innocent kiss deepened it something more, something far more exciting. Their tongue tangled and stroked against each other and their hands tangled in hair and through out this the maintenance crew tiptoed around them, knowing that this was not the time to start cheering them on, even though they felt the urge to.

Milliaria hurried down into the hanger, it had taken her a while to finish up at the command centre but now that she had, she wanted to see Kira and make sure he was safe. She needed to see him with her own eyes, for her to believe that he wasn't a ghost. She came upon the entrance and searched the large hanger, floating past maintenance stock and spare mobile armor body parts. And then she found them because it was a them - Kira was locked in the most passionate embrace she had ever seen. She could actually see their tongues moving in their locked lips and her chin dropped opened. She quickly closed it blushing and turned away only to find herself slamming against someone, their arms wrapped around her preventing her from floating them into the Mobile Armor body part.
"Oh, sorry!" she stammered and raised her head and her eyes widened.
Dearka stared down at her, his pink eyes seemingly darker then before. Milliaria found herself unable to look away, her heart began to beat wildly and her breath caught in her throat. What are you doing? She demanded of herself. I don't know! Her mind wailed which pretty much woke her up. They were so close she realized and then she pushed herself away from him, her cheeks a bright red. "Sorry," she exclaimed in an unusually loud squeaky voice and then flushed, rushing out of the hanger.
Dearka watched her speeding away and felt heat come from his cheeks and realized he was blushing. Why was he blushing? He had been out and been with other girls, so why was he behaving like a virgin? The thought horrified him into blanching, making him pale. But he hadn't been able to forget what it felt like having her in his arms, feeling her pressed up against him, breathing in her scent. He swallowed and quickly left the hanger, he was wearing a tight spacesuit if he didn't get out this suit soon it would become evident just how much she affected him.

Cagalli blinked at the scene that was playing out before her. She had never been interested in romance and yet she was witnessing it play out before her very eyes. What her younger (because he was younger as far as she was concerned, there's no way he was going to be the older brother) brother was doing was not of her concern but she'd like it very much if he would find some where more private so that she didn't have to watch it.
But what she found was far more intriguing was the Milliaria and Dearka relationship - now that was interesting and very fascinating. She wandered how that relationship would pan out, she sensed big problems ahead for the both of them, though how she knew this was beyond her and mentally grimaced. She hoped to god she wasn't going to become like those ladies that she had been forced to visit, with their endless gossips and fake faces.
Asurren watched Cagalli and smiled when a grimace crossed her face, he could almost hear the 'eww' come from her lips and chuckled, grabbing her hand and pulling them out of the hanger.
"Asurren! Where are we going?!" Cagalli demanded, startled as he lead her through the corridors.
He turned and glanced at her smiling, a wicked light gleaming in his green eyes and then continued towards his destination.
Cagalli's breath caught in her throat and her legs went weak as she let him pull her along. She didn't know what that look had meant but her mind had gone blank and she was having trouble swallowing. She could feel the blood rush in her body as her heart began to beat rapidly. She struggled for calm and control but when they stopped at an empty room, she knew she had lost.
The door slid opened and they entered closing after them. For a moment they stared at each other and slowly Asurren pushed her against the door, pressing his body against her, her eyes widened in surprise but she did nothing.
Instead she breathed in deeply feeling his hard lean body against hers and waited.
Their breaths mingled, their lips mere centimeters away, their eyes opened wide as if savoring the feel of their body against the other.
He shifted slightly and she gasped as she felt the friction, the electricity running through her, the tingling on her skin and she needed more, so much more. She grabbed him, burying her hands in his hair and wrapping her legs around his waist.
A long sigh fell from her lips as she arched with the contact of him against her heat, so hard and so very real. He rubbed against her and their lips fell hungrily towards each other, biting, licking, stroking as their hands moved desperately to remove their bodysuits. Grunts and growls and the occasional laughter as they frantically tried to pull the skin tight bodysuits off with impatient hands and finally they were both free from the restraints.
They fell onto the bed in a tangle of moving, naked limps, sighs and cries of pleasure rose in the room as their movements became frantic and desperate. Their cries became louder and their bodies glistened with sweat as their desperate actions brought them to the high that they had sought so badly.
Silence came upon them suddenly as their bodies shifted comfortably and they fell asleep, the exhaustion taking over their bodies, bringing them into a deep slumber.

Sai floated away from the scene, he was happy that Kira, kind-hearted Kira had finally found his little piece of happiness but… he was also sad. Frey, he thought, confused and angry Frey who didn't understand. He hoped that she had also found her peace, he cared for her, had for a very long time but he somehow knew that perhaps it was better this way.
She was free from her anger, fears and hatred.
He closed his eyes against the pain that clenched his heart, even though he knew that she had come to care for Kira, he also knew that she had cared for him as well. "I hope you've found your peace, Frey," he whispered and smiled when he felt his heart lift as if someone had reached out and touched him in assurance.
He sighed and floated to his quarters, he was tired - today had been a long day but he couldn't help being glad.
The war was over.
