Chapter 16 - Mysterious Visitor and Acceptance of the Light
Outside Yuy-Maxwell Apartment
Anubis materialized right in front of a small house that seemed to be inhabited if he could assume from the black machine in the stone lot called an automobile. He could also tell that the energy tracing he was receiving from the orb of Korin was generating from inside the establishment, seeing as it had taken a bit just to pin point it to this location. This is their home? He wondered. Such a modest dwelling place for two destined for greatness. Using his keen vision, he looked about the outside of the building. That's when he noticed a shadowed figure in the curtained window. Someone is here? He thought and then smirked. Won't they be surprised of whose come for a visit?
Inside Yuy-Maxwell Apartment - Twenty minutes before
Duo frowned and mumbled to himself as he finished straightening up the living room for the fourth time since he'd come home. He was very worried, about both Seiji and Heero. He didn't know how the Preventers were going to help his 'little brother' or how his lover was going to take it if they couldn't. He decided to start some more laundry to get his mind off of what he'd been forced to leave at Preventers' Headquarters. If Sally thought he was acting too emotional there, she should see him now.
He wandered to the farthest room from the front of the house, right off of the living room that seemed to be the center of the apartment, and looked about. There was a black plastic basket on the floor by the washer that was filled with dirty clothes, the top piece being the strange green kimono that Seiji had been found wearing after he'd gone missing during the storm only the day before. Gods, it seems so long ago, like weeks instead not even twenty four hours. Seiji, you sure know how to give people's hearts a good shock on a daily basis.
Picking up the basket, he set it on the dryer and opened the washer, setting the timer as he did so. He then grabbed the basket and dumped all its contents into the machine. Closing the lid and not looking back, he smiled at what he believed to be one of the most useful modifications that inventors had come up with. Just turn a knob, put in the clothes, and shut the lid. The washer would dispense the correct amount of detergent on its own as well as wash the clothes in less than a half an hour.
Sighing again, he realized that he had nothing else to do. Maybe I should have washed the clothes by hand, he thought idly. At least I would have something to do. Nervousness set in again and he walked out of the laundry room and into the kitchen. He was leaning towards cleaning every dish in the apartment. It didn't matter that he'd just cleaned the kitchen twenty minutes before. He just HAD to get his mind off worrying about Seiji.
Poor kid, and I thought that they'd fucked up Heero's head really bad, he sighed. It was no use. He was going to keep worrying until Heero called and told him that everything was all right. They better put Blondie back together or else I'm doing some hunting. I've been wanting revenge and not just for Seiji. He knew that everyone involved with Seiji and Heero's training wasn't dead so all he had to do was a little Internet digging and he could easily find a few names of people he would need to visit. He'd been planning to do it since he and Heero had finally gotten together and the other brunette had actually confided in him about some of the things he'd gone through. He'd thought putting a life together with Heero and helping him adjust to a regular life was more important at the time, but now he was beginning to think he should take some time off for just that.
Smirking at the images of what he could do to those that had harmed his family, he stepped into the living room, deciding that maybe a little television could take his mind off of everything. He plopped down on the couch, and snatched the remote control up from the side coffee table, ready to watch anything that was on. Turning on the TV he was disappointed to find that the news was on. Damn the only way this will get my mind off things is by putting me to sleep, he groaned.
" In a press conference early today, we were informed that Vice Vorn Minister, Relena Darlian, is returning to Earth tonight to campaign for her 'Mars Terra-Forming' Project," the newscaster reported. " She will be landing in Tokyo, Japan tomorrow morning, but she admits that the stop isn't part of the campaign, which will begin in her home country of the People's Republic of Sanc, former Sanc Kingdom before she dissolved the throne and turned it into a democracy just last year…"
" Gods, 'Lena, why didn't ya call and tell us?" Duo asked out loud. " We could have scheduled a get together. And I bet the all Preventers know all about it but me and Heero 'cause we've been home most of the time lately." He frowned a bit and then laughed. " I guess we'll just have to give her a little 'visit' while she's in town." He smiled at finally getting to see the young politician again. They only spent a day or two together after the Marie-Meia 'incident' and then she had to go and do damage control. He hated to say it, but he missed the girl. She wasn't as dipsy and air-headed as she played off during the War, even though he was still a little guarded, seeing as she did have a 'little' obsession with Heero for a while.
He watched the news for a while longer, listening to the reports about sports, country affairs, and even the health segment about plants and animals dishes that could be eaten to replace other foods. He grimaced at all the dishes they showed with grasshoppers and crushing them for stews. That was just too much information for him. He got up from his comfortable seat, turning off the TV. Suddenly, he thought he heard something outside the house.
That better be someone coming here with good news to surprise me with or else…he thought. They're in for it. Leaving the remote on the table, he walked towards the front door, reaching to make sure his gun was still in his pocket. He still didn't feel quite safe without one, even in his own home. He knew he wouldn't grow out of the habit anytime soon either.
Duo stood to the side of the door and peeked out the window next to the door. It was small and didn't allow him to see the entire front yard, but he saw no one from what he did see. Refusing to take chances, he slowly turned the knob, easing it open inch by inch. Still he saw no one and the anxiety tinged with curiosity was getting the better of him. Taking a deep breath, he threw the door open the rest of the way and jumped into the entranceway, gun aimed and ready to fire.
His eyes darted around, taking in everything should something be thought of as out of place. Yet, there was nothing, no one was waiting or even outside at one of the other complexes. The area seemed deserted and that left and unsettled feeling in the nerve-racked brunette. Even so, he let out a sigh as most his paranoia left him before backing up and shutting the door, locking it subconsciously.
He turned around and walked back through the corridor into the living room, mumbling to himself, " Maxwell, my boy, all this shit is startin' to get to ya." He caught a flash of metal and stopped, finding himself less than an inch from death as the tip of a very long, wide sword was at his throat. His eyes widened as he stared down the length of the blade, raising his vision so that he could take in a black and dark gray metal-covered chest, then horned shoulders, and a red cape. His eyes finally landed on a helmeted face with a v-pointed headpiece and gray faceplate, hiding deep blue eyes.
What the hell?! His mind was in shock, completely baffled by how anyone could have snuck into his home. The back was protected by alarms created by Heero himself and only those with the code could get through them. How had this strange person in a suit of armor gotten in to his home?
Streets of Tokyo
He heard the screaming, the commotion, just as he exited the university's main office. He'd been trapped there all day, taking tours of the different buildings and course areas, he even got to sit in on a basketball practice for the winter sports. It seemed strange to him that they would start practicing so early, but he guessed some were just passionate about athletics as they were about academics. To him basketball was just for fun so he couldn't see being on a real college team.
But he had finally been able to get out of there when all the screaming and shouting started. The strange sense of foreboding that had been in the pit of his stomach since a short while after he'd reached the university had gotten worse and he knew why. The enemy was attacking and he had to stop them. Now he was running, rushing through the masses of people to get to where the problem had all started. Where it led him was the Preventers' Japan Headquarters.
People probably think it's terrorists or something, he thought. He was right around the corner of the building, seeing people's faces filled with fear and anxiety as they ran, they didn't know what was going on or what was going to happen to them. Slowly he peeked around the corner and stared wide-eyed at the destruction. Large and small pieces of stone were scattered on the ground, cars were mangled and some smoking in destruction. But what mainly caught his attention were the figures standing about a hundred years away from him.
He saw what looked to be a man in lavender-colored armor, horns much like a moose's antlers protruding from his helmet. On his back was a large spider-like weapon with six or more blades attached to long rods. He had a strange sense of understanding, this was one of his enemies, the ones he and his friends were supposed to fight. Then he saw that on another car was a creature that made him take a second look. It was a feline, a large black and gray cat that he knew wasn't a panther. It looked more like a tiger and his keen vision allowed him to see that the gray coloring were stripes on its back.
Another figure was closer to the building and he turned towards him to get a better look. He turned out to be a Her and a young one at that. She wore green clothing and had her dark blue/black hair pulled into a ponytail. From what he could see, the woman was carrying someone in her arms, someone who appeared to be unconscious for he wasn't moving or anything. He saw a long, thick blonde strand hanging down to the ground and wondered who it could be. The foreboding sense in his stomach worsened.
Gods, is she one of the enemy? he wondered. Who is she holding? Is she trying to kidnap the person? Different questions and scenarios were running through his mind and he wasn't sure what to do. What if he tried to attack them and the innocent person was hurt instead? Was he strong enough to even do anything to them? Gods, he needed help, but he didn't he think he was close enough to one of the others to call through their special link.
I have to try, I can't do this alone, he closed his eyes, but then reopened them. What if they can sense me using the power of the yoroi? Gods, what can I do? He was trapped with no real way to do anything until he found out what they were up to. He strained his hearing, trying to catch anything they might say.
" Oh, so this boy is the one you protect?" Kayura questioned the black tiger. " Have you betrayed your other master for one that knows nothing of you? This boy doesn't even know of the power he holds." The large feline merely growled at her and jumped from the car he was standing on, facing her with fangs bared. She could tell that he was enraged by her flippant attitude.
" Now, now do try to keep your temper in order," she told him. " You wouldn't want me to accidentally harm Korin's pretty face, would you?"
The tiger backed down physically at her threat. \ I cannot allow her to harm him, I have sworn to protect him, \ he glared at the woman he had once played with as a reborn spirit inside of a small demon cub. She seemed so different than whom he remembered, the child with the bright eyes and the young teenager with the strong will and righteous attitude. Now, she was as the one that had saved him, Anubis, a slave to the demon emperor, Arago. \ He corrupts even the innocent for his own purposes. \
" Good cat," Rajura smirked at him. " Now run back to your master and stay out of our affairs." Kokuen-oh remained where he was. He would not break his vow and he also knew that Kayura would not kill the boy, he was too valuable to their own master. All he had to do was get her to drop him and he could attack. He would NOT risk harming the boy just to defeat her. Korin was the tiger's main concern.
" Now, we have one last 'guest' to pick up," Rajura let his gaze rise to the room that they had exited. He knew that the blonde's brother was up there. Now, all he had to do was retrieve him and then they could return home to the Youjakai. Kokuen-oh wasn't stupid though by a long shot. He knew exactly whom Rajura was talking about. He snarled at the Illusion master and jumped in front of him.
\ I can't let them take either, let alone both! I made my vow and I shall uphold it until death. \ He was standing his ground and roared out his response.
" So you still defy us?" the white-haired man frowned. " I've had enough of this." He pulled his large spider-like weapon from his back and aimed it at the tiger. He wasn't going to harm him, just 'tie him up' for a while so they could finish what they'd come to do.
Touma could hear plenty of their conversation and was becoming more confused by the minute. "… This boy doesn't even know of the power he holds," the woman stated.
So I was right, he is a boy! But why do they want him, what power is she talking about? He continued to watch as the large beast became more and more agitated. And why do I get the feeling I know who he is?
" … in order. You wouldn't want me to harm Korin's pretty face, would you?" she asked with what he thought was a smirk on her face. He couldn't be sure and he wasn't really paying attention that much anymore. His mind was racing.
Korin? Is that the boy's name? Why does that sound so familiar? He could feel this strange sense of recognition and familiarity when she spoke the name. It was as if part of him knew exactly whom she spoke of, exactly who Korin was and yet he couldn't remember right then. The answer was right on the tip of his tongue, but unable to loosen itself. He turned back to the three mysterious figures and watched the rest of the events unfold. The man in the armor told the tiger-like feline something along the lines of 'leave now', but the feline refused.
Then the man said something else that he couldn't quite catch and the animal let out a vicious roar, making the blue-haired boy flinch at the echo that filled the streets. The warrior then pulled the unknown spider weapon from his back and aimed it at the beast. He's going to attack it! He thought frantically. He couldn't allow who he knew to be his enemy to place his wrath upon the tiger-like feline. He'd sworn to his duty and believed that said duty included animals as well.
Guess, I can try to call for back up now, he thought. I'm about to play diversion anyway. Not like they won't see me. He dug into his pocket and pulled out a dark blue orb that could have easily been mistaken for a very large marble. He watched as the center of the sphere swirled gray depths, shifting to reveal a gold symbol that only he could see. " Chi, wisdom," he murmured, closing his eyes. He then sent out the loudest signal that he could, trying to reach the others from even the distance away he was. They had to help him.
Mouri Residence/Pottery Shop
Shin gasped, the exquisitely decorated vase almost slipping from his fingers. He set it down on the counter quickly and placed his hands against his head. The energy waves of the message he'd just received rolled through his mind and he had to wait for them to call down. Gods, Touma what happened?! the auburn-haired boy wondered worriedly. Although they were unable to hear one anothers' thoughts, the link between he and his friends allowed them to feel emotions when they weren't being blocked. He could tell from the power and desperate emotion in the call that his blue-haired friend needed his help badly.
" Shin, what's wrong?" his mother asked as soon as she walked into the room.
" I have to go mother," he told her. " I be back as soon as I can. I'll make up for not staying to help." He kissed her gently on the cheek and quickly rushed out of the room.
" Hurry back," she told him, sighing. She knew her son wasn't into anything illegal or dangerous so she tried not to worry too much about him as she did when he was a child. Ever since Kaigan passed away… she thought sadly. She wasn't going to think of her son as a small child anymore or her long dead husband and trusted Shin to be fine and come home as he promised.
Rei Faun Restaurant
" I have ta go Mama!" Shu told her as he put his shoes on hastily.
" But Shu-!" she protested, giving him her evil eye.
" It has to do with Touma, Mama," he explained while trying not to look her in the eye directly. " He called me and I need to go. I'll be back as soon as I can and I will do all the work you want me to!"
" Shu…" she started again, but he was already running out the door.
" Bye Mama!" he shouted with a grin on his face that was forced for her benefit.
" Ooh, that boy!" she clenched her fists in frustration. " He better have a great explanation when he gets home! Call from Touma, hah! That damn phone hasn't rang for half an hour!" She let out a huff of anger before going back into the kitchen of the restaurant she and her husband owned, finished the dinner orders for some of the customers. Oh yes, Shu would definitely be giving her an explanation for why he was running out when it was his day to help with the dinner orders.
Sakura High School - Sports Field
" Gomen nasai, Coach Ino! I'm late as it is!" Ryo was trying to quickly come up with an excuse for why he was leaving when more than half way the soccer game was over.
" One good reason Sanada," the man growled. He did NOT like his star player suddenly saying he had to leave when they were winning the game. Soccer and basketball were the only sports he coached outside of teaching Physical Education and he demanded nothing but excellent performances and attendance. This was NOT something he tolerated from them.
" My Obaasan's been sick lately and she just got better recently so I have to go pick up her prescription from the pharmacy before they close," he explained, adding as much truth to his lie as he could to make it believable. " And since it's Sunday, they close early." He hated lying, he was terrible at it really, but he had learned from Touma the basics if he had to get out of a tough situation. He just hoped Ino bought it.
The man stared at him, trying to assess whether or not he was being truthful. He never once had known Sanada for lying and had never had him need to leave a game either. I would really be in shit if he was telling the truth and he didn't get the prescription in time, he thought. Might just get in trouble with Jerotaki for that.
" All right Sanada," he consented. " But you better be ready for double practice and fifty laps after school tomorrow."
" Fine," Ryo nodded, not showing his irritation as he rushed from the field. He so hated that guy. He always punished people for having to leave for emergencies. He'd actually given a kid fifteen laps a day around the track course for twisting his ankle and not being able to play for two games. He rushed off the field, only bothering to grab his duffel bag. You so owe me Touma, the raven-haired boy thought. This better be important.
Outside Preventers' Headquarters
Rajura felt it. The rising of power before it was released into three different directions. Gods, its one of the Yoroi! He knew it had to be. The power was too familiar and yet so different at the same time. He turned his head immediately down the street and could see a figure standing there, in dark blue sub armor. It's Tenku! He must have sense our presence. He's probably the one that sent the power out, contacting the others. Do they know that he is the last of their circle?
" Come to play have you, Tenku?" he asked him. " You're too late, we've claimed our prize. Korin is ours."
" What are ya talking about, ya freak?" the boy demanded with a growl. " Who the hell is Korin?!"
Rajura stared at him in complete shock. He does not know of Korin? Gods, who has taught these boys? Has anyone taught them about the yoroi? He glanced at Kayura and could tell that she was shocked as well, but had decidedly kept most of her attention on Kokuen-oh.
" You know not of Korin, then you know not of the yoroi," Rajura told him.
The boy glared at him, and replied, "I don't give a shit, ya better just let Korin go and leave."
The Gen Masho wanted to laugh at his warning. " How can you threaten me when you do not even know the full potential of your own yoroi?" he asked with a chuckled in his voice. " And I always thought you were the smart one out of the bunch. You can not defeat either of us on your own."
" Just let the guy go," the boy said and took a step closer. " What would he have to do with any of this anyway?"
" More than you know, I believe," he smirked.
Yuy-Maxwell Apartment
" It would be really cliché if I said 'Boo', wouldn't it?" Anubis asked with a smirk. He'd obviously caught the braided-brunette off guard. That could be used to his advantage so that he could find out where the yoroi was. Does this boy even know where it is? The blue-haired swordsman could feel the armor was nearby, so close he could almost smell it, but he could not find out exactly where it was. His senses only told him that it was somewhere really close by.
The boy looked as if he was about to jump back, but Yami Masho shook his head. " Don't try to run," he warned him. " That will only make the hunt more fun for me. Now tell me where the yoroi is."
Duo stared at the psycho who'd broken into his home like he had an extra two heads. Well, he was dressed in a metallic form of ancient Japanese armor and was carrying around a sword that was currently at the brunette's throat. Where the hell did this nut job come from? " Who the fuck are you to demand things from me in my own home and what the fuck is a 'yoroi'?!" he growled a question of his own.
He knew he could be on the line of pissing the guy off and getting his throat slit, but he didn't care. He was tired, in more ways than one, was worried about his family, and had some crazy person had just broke into his house! He knew his gun wouldn't do much good if he was dead before he could use it, but hey getting his opponents angry usually caused them to make stupid mistakes. Hopefully, it would work still instead of his getting run through with what looked to be a very sharp, very big sword.
" So you know naught of Korin no Yoroi," the other said as more of a statement then asking for confirmation.
" No really, I've got it hidden with my dirty laundry!" Duo replied sarcastically.
" Hold your tongue with me, boy!" Anubis snarled at him. The little impertinent brat! Had he no idea that the blue-haired man could cut off his head if he felt it right to do so? Even in the face of fatal danger the brunette was foul-tongued and hard-eyed. He didn't appear to be afraid, while Yami could smell the tint of fear around him. But the boy didn't seem too worried about dying, as if he was planning something as a counterattack.
That's when he heard the strange clanging in his sensitive ears. They could hear things at least a few miles away and were picking up the sound of metal colliding against another hard object. His eyes turned towards the sound and stared at a closed door only a few feet away from him. The banging was getting louder, like the sound of two swords hitting each other during battle or the sound of a blacksmith's hammer hitting its mark against steel. What in the hells? The power signal from Korin was rising as the sound increased at a rapid rate and he couldn't but think he'd found what he'd been looking for.
Duo noticed that the intruder had suddenly lost interest in him. He quickly jumped away from the sword and landed on the other side of the table that was in the middle of the room. The man still didn't give him another glance, apparently intrigued by what he was staring at. How can he just disregard me like this?! I could shoot him and he wouldn't even try to block it! The brunette was furious. It was like the other didn't even care that he was there!
He looked towards where the other was staring at found him staring at the laundry room door. What's the problem with the laundry room? Does he think I was serious about the 'dirty laundry' remark? Suddenly, he heard the sound of banging that was getting louder and louder. Someone, or something, was hitting something with increased force. He also noticed a strange light peeking out from under the door. " What in the…?" he was confused.
The banging got louder, a lot louder, and he unconsciously winced at the sound. He wanted to walk towards the door to find out what was going on, but something stopped him. A foreboding feeling told him, not to go near that room and whatever was in it. He guessed it was his internal warning sense, but he wasn't about to open that door.
The light got brighter as the clanging became more continuous and the volume went up. " What in the hell in going on?!" he yelled out loud, covering his ears from the noise.
" It's Korin," the stranger replied just as the door to the room burst open and the light burst out like an overpowered bolt of electricity, lighting the entire room with its brilliance.
Outside Preventers' Headquarters
Touma continued to try and buy time, he knew he didn't have a chance against the man. The arrogant jerk didn't need to point it out. Gods, how am I supposed to get to that guy? If I even do get past him, I've still got HER to deal with and I don't even know what's up with that over-sized black cat. That's when he felt a strange surge go through his body. It was as if something had just electrocuted him, awaking something that hadn't been touched yet. He grasped his chest and dropped to one knee, attempting to decrease the pain.
Rajura watched as the boy fell to one knee in pain, What just happened? he wondered. That's when he felt the tingle in the back of his mind. Then he felt pain as well, but not his own. Anubis! He realized. What could cause his brother to be in so much pain? What was going on?
Kayura watched the strange events before her before the energy signal hit her as well. She looked down and could see a bright green symbol glowing on Korin's brow, his face twisted slightly, showing that he was dreaming. His armor's trying to reach him! But it's too soon! Arago said he wasn't ready yet! She didn't understand how the yoroi was trying to reach him. From what she knew, he didn't even have the yoroi with him. Has he even received it yet?
That's when the boy began to shake his head fiercely. Something he was dreaming wasn't very pleasant. If he kept it up she wouldn't be able to hold him any longer. Gods, what is he dreaming?
Dream
He ran from the castle, from the demon and everything else. He wasn't going to help him. He'd told him 'no' so many times before since he was a child. He wasn't about to give in now. But there was something different. Why had he not seen the shadowed figure before he'd reached the castle? Had it finally decided to quit coming to him. Where was the voice? What was going on? Everything was confusing him.
That's when he saw the man in the black and gray armor. He couldn't stop him from running him through with his long sword. He'd never been able to. But as he fell to the ground he could see regret and sympathy written in deep blue eyes. Why does he pity me? He let out a gasp of pain as his assailant pulled the no-datchi from in abdomen, letting him collapse to the ground. Though he never reached the ground.
He was instead in a dark void. He could feel himself still dying from his fatal wound, but no one was there to help him, no one to know what was happening. " Nii-nii-ch-chan…" he whispered as he felt the blood fill his mouth. He was going to die. Where was Nii-chan? Why wasn't he there to save him? Why was he always alone when he needed someone most? Did anyone care about him at all?
That's when he felt the coldness of metal against his cheek. Someone or something was touching him. But who or what was it? Why was it so dark? Gods, he hated the dark. So many things could hide in the dark just for the chance to hurt you. He wanted to go home. He wanted to go back to his Nii-chan and forget anything ever happened. He just wanted to go back home.
" I can help you," a voice whispered in a soothing, calm tone. He knew that voice. He'd heard it so many times before during his dreams. It was the voice of the figure that was always in the forest.
" H-how?" he asked.
" Before I could not come to you, you were unable to withstand what I wanted to give," It explained. " But now you can, now you can call upon me. I can save you, all you have to do it accept me. I can make everything go away."
" B-but…N-nii…" he never got to finish. He could feel himself dying faster, could even feel the blood pooling around him when he couldn't feel a floor.
" Accept me Korin no Seiji, for we are one," It continued. " The others are waiting for you." The metal hand ran through his hair before setting itself against the wound in the blonde's stomach. " Do you accept me?"
He couldn't take it anymore. He wasn't ready to die. He had to see Nii-chan again, had to see Touma. And it felt so right. Something was telling him to agree, to accept the voice and everything It was offering. He couldn't deny it, It was apart of him, part of his destiny. That's when he slowly felt himself slipping away, time becoming too short. " H-Hai-ai," he whispered just as he felt everything fall away from him.
Dream
" Something's happening to him!" Kayura yelled to Rajura. " He is coughing up blood! He's dying!" The blonde in her arms had stopped his twisting, but he had coughed, red liquid escaping his lips. She felt something sticky on her hand that was at the boy's back and looked down, a dark red blotch was growing on the boy's shirt. He's bleeding like he's been run through with a sword!
Suddenly she heard him say something that she almost didn't catch. " H-ai-ai," he whispered so softly that she thought she might have been mistaken. But as soon as he said that a bright green light enveloped him, shocking her into dropping him. But he never fell, he was instead lifted high into the air, his feet stories off the ground to where he was aligned with the large hole in the building. His eyes were open, but had been lost the green brilliance.
Touma stared in shock. Seiji?! His mind went through everything he knew to try and figure out what was going on. The pain was gone, fading with the appearance of the bright green light that had engulfed his friend, allowing him to stand once again. But they said is name was Korin, he thought. That when it clicked, the something he'd forgotten coming back to him. Korin is the fifth yoroi, the Yoroi of Light and Spirit! Seiji is our fifth, he's Korin!
" Touma!" he heard a voice call out to him. He turned around to see Ryo, Shu, and Shin all standing a few feet behind him. It had been Ryo that had called out to him.
" What's going on?" Shu demanded.
" It's Seiji! He is the fifth! The armor is trying to reach him!" he explained. " Man, the guy in the armor and the lady were trying to kidnap him!"
" But this didn't happen when ours came to us," Shin pointed out. " Why is it happening to him?"
Touma didn't have an answer for him. The woman had said that Seiji had coughed up blood and had been dying. Why? That hadn't happened to any of them either. What made Seiji so different then them? He didn't know so he just turned his attention back to his friend that was suspended in air, unable to do anything more than watch.
Yuy-Maxwell Residence
The light was killing him! It hurt too much! He couldn't take it! But he couldn't move, he was trapped where he stood, only his arms to protect his eyes from the lethal light. It was as if the orb itself had trapped him, not allowing him to leave. Gods, it hurt. He could feel blood streaming down his face from his eyes, much like tears would have had he totally lost the ability to cry when he'd been given him armor.
The brunette boy didn't seem to be affected by the light. It hurt his eyes, as would any light as bright as that, but other than that he was fine. Is it because I am its opposition that it harms me so? He knew why the yoroi was reaching it energy peak. It was time for it to be claimed. But Arago said the boy wouldn't be able to claim it yet. What has changed?
Just as suddenly as it appeared, the light was gone. It just vanished, returning the house to the normal lighting that was electricity. Anubis still felt the pain, just slightly faded. He opened his eyes and looked around, smelling smoke. The boy was staring at the room he'd run out of when the light had appeared , shocked by the destroyed black machine that looked like a gutted animal. Pieces of it were all about the room, the smoke coming from the main part that was still in the place it had originally been. Strangely, no piece of the machine was outside the room, explosion remaining within the confines of the small cubicle. I must go, Anubis realized. The time has come. With that he disappeared to return to Rajura and Kayura, the longhaired brunette still looking about in shock and confusion.
Duo stared at the destruction without knowing what to do. Gods, how could this have happened? It was impossible! The green light, the washer blowing up, the guy in the armor that disappeared right before his eyes, all of it was just too insane to be real. I'm going crazy! He told himself. That when the phone rang, causing him to jump slightly in surprise. God, what else could happen? This is just some crazy shit!
He picked up the phone, " Maxwell here." The voice on the other line sounded very worried.
" Duo there's been an attack on the Preventers' Building! Everything around it is in chaos!"
" What?!" Duo's eyes widened in disbelief. This CANNOT be happening! " Qautre, ya kiddin'! Where're you? Where's Heero? Are he and Seiji okay?"
" I don't know," the blonde sounded very upset and even a little guilty. " Trowa and I were coming back from our hotel and we were stopped because of the destruction downtown. They won't let us pass until the road is cleared. People have been crashing and leaving their cars everywhere just trying to get away."
" Oh God," the brunette whispered, unconsciously rubbing the cross around his neck, a long present nervous habit. " I'm on my way. You won't believe this shit that just happened here. I hope those two are all right."
" We're going to get through as soon as we can," Qautre told him. " Trowa's taking us another route so we should get there in about twenty minutes due to all the traffic. Don't worry, Heero can take care of himself and you know he'll protect Seiji at any cost." With that the blonde hung up, leaving Duo to ponder sadly at his words as he grabbed his keys from the coffee table.
" That's what I'm worried about," the brunette held back his worry as he rushed out of his home. " If it comes down to that I'll either lose one, the other, or both."
Inside Preventers' Headquarters
There was a bright green light and Heero had to close his eyes from it. Gods, I have to move, he thought and suddenly his arms were no longer trapped as they instinctively went up to protect his eyes from the mysterious brilliance. He heard a gasp from behind him and knew that Wufei had been freed as well. What's going on? Who are these people?
He kept his eyes covered, but didn't waste time in going to see what was the cause of the light. The closer he was to the light, the more he realized that it didn't hurt his eyes as much anymore. He moved his arms away from his face and didn't even feel a strain on them at all. If was as if his eyes had easily adjusted to it. He looked back and could see that Wufei still had to cover his eyes and hadn't moved from where he'd been standing. Why isn't it hurting my eyes like it is his?
He then looked out through the new 'window' in the building at the green ball of like. What shocked him was who was 'in' the sphere of light. " Seiji?" he stared in confusion. How had his brother been taking in by the light? He could see clearly into the sphere and could see his brother in the middle of it, arms stretched out, legs spread, head titled back, and eyes open wide, filled with the green light. He watched as a strange green and white armor formed around his brother, melding to him like a second skin.
" What the hell is that?" he asked out loud, but couldn't deny that it felt familiar for some reason. It seemed on his brother, as if he was meant to wear it. The light began to dim then, but didn't fade from his eyes.
" What is going…?" Wufei was staring at the hole in shock as well. He'd finally been able to see, and likewise had no idea what was going on. " Seiji? What's happening to him?"
" I-I don't know," the brunette answered truthfully.
" Heero? Wufei?" they turned around and saw Sally leaning up against the doorway.
" What happened to you?" the black-haired boy asked.
" That girl slammed me into the wall and gave me a headache the size of Europe and Asia," she replied with a slight wince. " but I'm still alive." Wufei nodded to her in understanding that she meant she could still perform and turned look back out at Seiji as he slowly descended to the ground where another bright light seemed to have appeared.
Outside (A/N: Getting irritated with scenes changes so we'll start keeping it short.)
Rajura just stared on at the spectacle before him. The light didn't hurt him, but such things had never harmed him before. He just put it off as the protection of his armor. He looked up and could see that the boy. Nii-chan was staring at his brother as well. But how can he withstand the brilliance of the light? He should be covering his eyes in pain. How can he even move? My spell should not have worn off? Is Korin the cause of it?
The light surrounding the boy began to fade, but as it did, another appeared on the ground. It was as if the one was sucking the light from the other, growing stronger as the other grew weaker. Then Korin descended, lowering to the ground with unworldly grace. His eyes were open, but still taken by the green light, his body covered by green and white sub-armor. The blonde landed and didn't move, just continued to look out at nothing through enchanted eyes.
He felt a shift and knew that Anubis had arrived. " Are you all right brother?" he asked, not turning to look at him, therefor not seeing the bloody streaks on his cheeks.
" I'll live," he answered. He looked at Korin. " I was right. It's time for him to claim his power. What happened to cause it to come early?"
" I'm not sure," he replied.
" But why did the yoroi act like it did? When mine came it wasn't nearly as destructive," Anubis replied. " It destroyed some machine and scattered pieces of it about like bodies on a battlefield."
The white-haired man didn't answer. The reaction, the powerful outbreak of power, then the loss of being and recognition, it was all too familiar. But the day was so long ago, yet still fresh in his mind. The day he had lost all semblance of sanity and taken his own eye.
Ryo watched Seiji lower to the ground and could tell Touma was having the dilemma of whether or not to go to him, just make sure he was all right, but the green glow coming from his eye sockets proved that Seiji might not be home right then. The blue-haired boy held back with the others, all waiting to see what would happen so that they could make their move. Seiji seemed to have lost interest of everything else and was staring in the direction of the new ball of light. It wasn't as bright as the one that ha enveloped the blonde only a short time before, but it was still bright on its own.
He stepped towards it as if knowing exactly what it was and why it was there, not bothering to even acknowledge anyone else around him. No one moved, not knowing what to do or if they should even interfere. The blonde stood before the sphere with a look of understanding on his features. He reached out, his hand going into the light and seemed to grab a hold of something as the light disappeared instantly.
That's when he felt the shock of power go through him, tapping into something inside him that hadn't been unlocked. Cries were heard and let him know that the others were in the same situation. He then felt his eyes go wide as something overcame him, sending him into darkness.
A/N: Well, god enough for ya since it took so long to get out.
JC: We apologize for that again.
Kathrine: Now, ya see who's gonna show up soon? We don't hate Relena while some of you may. I guess Christine's GW Novel 'Dangerous Liaisons' change our perspective on her.
JC: Though we still love Relena-bashing stories too. ^_^
Kathrine: Now, what do ya think will happen? Review and tell us.
JC: Oh and the offer to send people the entirety of pairings in this story is still up. Though we might not be able to get to ALL the pairings in the near future.
