Gundam Wing Fan Fiction / Ronin Warriors Fan Fiction ❯ True Bloods ❯ Prologue
A/N: Hi! This is Kathrine again! I found another fic that me and JC wrote and decided to post it. I've been writing all summer and more so I have a lot of stories to post. This one I got started after reading part of Shadow of Arashi's " Vampire Story." I dedicate this to her for that reason.
JC: How is it you're always dedicating these to people you like? I know Shadow's great and all, but I never get to dedicate anything!!
Kathrine: Just quit ya whining and dedicate then!
JC: Good idea! We both agree on Shadow, but I would also like to dedicate this to Angel of Fire for a spark of inspiration from " Gathering of the Gods" and "Back to the Future" and Wildefyre for supporting us! They are all three really good writers and we love their work! I just hope they read this.
Kathrine: There is pain in this story. ^_^ I got to write the prologue partially.
JC: And we all fear what you wrote.
Kathrine: Don't worry, I promised Kitty I wouldn't go overboard.
JC: She threatened you with Jennifer again, huh?
Kathrine: I swear I don't know what I did to get her mad, but she hasn't cooled down yet. How is it Kitty gets her to do everything?
JC: Don't you remember that Split Persona created Jennifer to protect Kitty? Oh yeah we weren't created yet. I got the info from Jenny. Hey where is Jenny anyway.
Kathrine: I saw her eating the ice cream out of the fridge.
JC: We have to stop her!! You know how she gets with chocolate!! ( Two run to stop the nine-year old personality before she hits a chocolate overdrive.)
Disclaimer: Don't own Gundam or Ronin. *__! I get no money from this so don't try suing. All you'll get is a broken down computer, molded fish tank, fifteen-year old TV and a bunch of porcelain dolls. ( Although, I'd wager you getting a pretty penny from the thirty-one dolls.)
Warning: RW/GW Crossover, AU, dark fic sort of, angst, may have lemon scenes and more in later chapters. YAOI/Shounen Ai. If you don't like these then don't read!!!! ALL FLAMERS WILL BE MUTILATED AND THEN LEFT FOR THE CROWS TO EAT THEIR FLESH AND THEN FORCED TO WATCH WHILE THEIR LIMBS ARE CUT OFF AND COOKED FOR A YUMMY STEW!!!! MMMMM!!!!!!!!
True Bloods
By Kathrine and JC
" It's all right Makia," her husband held her hand tightly. " I'm here for you my love."
" Kale, it hurts so much," she cried as she continued to push. "I don't know if I can do this without hurting one of them."
" You're doing fine," the old midwife assured her. " Just one more push should do it for one of them." The woman nodded, her long dirty blond hair falling around her on the table she lay upon. Sweat fell speedily to the floor as she used every ounce of strength she had to push until she heard the midwife yell, " We have him!"
The woman smiled but heard no cry of a babe. The room was silent with the exception of labored breathing. " What is it?" she asked. " What's wrong with my baby?" She heard the smack of bare skin and yet still heard no cries. " What's wrong with my-" the question was ceased by another contraction.
" Here comes the other!" the old woman exclaimed as she placed the deadly silent baby in the blanketed basket on the counter next to her.
" The last one Makia," Kale grasped her hand once more. " Just stay strong."
" For the babies my love," she whispered. Then she gave one final push that was once again followed by no screams.
" Here he is!" the midwife cut the cord connecting the babe to his mother with a sharp blade. His eyes were closed and he did not stir. The woman feared he was like the other due to the blood covering both bodies. Never had she helped give birth to children bathed in so much blood. She spanked his bare rear three times and still he did not cry. All she could do now was shake her head sadly and placed him in the basket next to his brother.
" What's wrong?" Makia asked. " Why didn't he cry?" After cleaning up some of the bloody mess Kale picked up his wife and carried her to their bed. Large puddles of red liquid seemed to follow them as they went. " Are our babies all right?" she asked. " Is there something wrong with our babies?"
Her face was drenched in sweat and white as she stared at her husband's saddened expression. She knew what that meant. " No," she whispered.
" I'm sorry," he kissed her forehead as tears fell down her cheeks. " We've tried before, but it seems it always ends up the same way."
" NO!!!" she screamed and clung to his waist. Not again, she prayed in her mind. Please Gods, just once let them live. The old woman came in carrying the two small still forms in her arms, their eyes unopened and their bodies cleaned. " At least let me hold them," she begged. The midwife nodded and rested a child on each of their mother's arms.
" They're so warm," she smiled through tears and pain. " The others were so cold, I could tell they were gone. But they feel as if their hearts are beating as one." She wasn't lying, she could feel the babes' heartbeats as they remained in sync. She could hear their breaths, but not feel them, as if they weren't really there.
Makia pulled them closer and let their warmth seep into her. That's when she felt hot air on both sides of her neck. She quickly looked to one of the babies to see him staring at her with the most enchanting violet eyes. He blinked at her with a gentle smile on his lips, eyes staring as if they could peer into her soul. The woman turned her head to find her other son staring at her the same way, with the same violet eyes.
" K-Kale!" she gasped when she finally found her voice. This didn't even startle the newborns, like they expected such a reaction.
" By the Gods!" Kale's eyes widened to saucers. " Kami has shown us mercy!" He smiled at his children like only a true father could. Then he gently lifted to older of the two into his arms and cradled him.
" My little Duojo," he whispered. The child merely giggled as he nuzzled next to his father's cheek and reach out to touch the cross scar on his eye.
" Brought from death," Makia smiled. " I didn't realize how much of my language you knew." She looked at the youngest child she held and thought. " The light has sent you both to me," she whispered. " So I shall call you Seiji- Sent from light." The baby took hold of her finger and smiled, seeming to like the name.
Suddenly a grimace crossed Makia's face and the babies began to cry in unison. " Kale take Seiji," she gasped. The midwife could see the darkness seeping out and soaking the sheets of the bed.
" What is it?" Kale asked.
" Just take Seiji please, I won't be able to hold him much longer," she requested again in between heavy breaths. Her beloved consented and took the baby in his other arm. The old woman examined his wife with dismay.
" She's losing too much blood," she explained. " I don't know how to stop the bleeding."
" You mean…?" Kale was shocked. " No Makia, you have to pull through. The boys will need their mother."
Makia only smiled painfully at her husband as her breathing lessened. " I know you will take care of them as any good father would," she could feel herself getting weaker. " Please send for Kayura, she will help you how she can." With that her eyes glazed over and her lips fell dormant. All Kale could do was clutch his children close as they cried.
Three days later
Makia's funeral came and went and Kayura arrived the day after. She was a woman of her fifties and yet she looked no older than her twenty-fifth year. The townspeople called her 'witch', but all of them at one time or another came to her seeking advice or special herbal potions and remedies. She had been a second mother to Makia in her childhood.
" Come in," Kale greeted her solemnly, but with a courteous grin. He was tired after everything that had transpired and was glad the wise woman could finally have time for him. " I thank you for coming," he added.
" It's the least I could do for Makia," she smiled warmly. " I told her this would happen."
" You knew she would die," he said more as a statement. " Then that is why she wasn't afraid when the time came."
" I told her the next pregnancy would cause this," she hid the tears in her eyes. " She said she would take the chance."
" I understand," Kale sighed. " She just wanted children so badly."
" Show me the babes," she requested. The blue-haired man nodded and led her to the room that once belonged to him and his wife, but now he and his children. In a basket cradle next to the bed the children lay predominantly quiet, save for the usual gurgling noises they made. Kayura stood over the bed and stared down at the twins. Their curious violet eyes smiled up at her with excitement. She saw something peculiar in those eyes, something that shouldn't have been there.
" I don't know how they got such eyes," Kale shook his head as to clear his mind of its befuddlement. " Both Makia and I have brown eyes."
" You'll learn in time," Kayura assured him. " But now I must tell you what I see. There is a strange light about your children. Something from distant times in Makia's heritage. In three years you will understand completely and know what to do." She turned and headed out of the room and towards the front door. Before she left Kayura turned to him with one more piece of information.
" You must never forcefully separate them," she warned. " They have a special bond much like darkness and light. They need each other more than we will ever know."
" I understand," Kale nodded.
" I shall return in three years," she stated. The man gave her a smile of thanks and shut the door behind her.
In the bedroom, Kale sat down next to the cradle and stared at his small children. " I know she is wise, but sometimes her knowledge is overrated," he laughed. He then noticed that Duojo's and Seiji's eyes were no longer deep violet, but a bright blue/green hue. He shook his head and dismissed the matter as the lighting of the room.
Three years later
" Poppa hungry!" came the collective cry.
" Just hold on," he replied. " You just ate an hour ago."
" But we hungry!" the boys whined.
" Do you want some bread?" he asked.
" No," the blonde, Seiji, shook his head.
" Beans?" he inquired.
" No," the brunette, Duojo, shook his head.
" Fish?" he guessed.
" NO!!" the boys shouted.
" Then what?!" Kale frowned.
" Don't know," Duojo shook his head. Seiji nodded in agreement with his brother's confusion. They had been feeling a strange hunger for days and yet neither knew what it was. They just wanted to eat something warm and wet.
" Well, let me cook some lamb and I'll figure something else for later," Kale sighed. The boys nodded and sat back down at their table waiting for the food. They looked paler than usual and seemed to have a strange look of starvation in their eyes.
It had been a week since their birthday and Kale noticed that his children didn't run about as much or play as they use to. He feared that they were becoming ill and decided to send for the healer later on that day. He pulled out two pieces of raw meat and began to cut them into smaller pieces for cooking. What could be happening to my boys? Kale wondered.
The smell. The boys first noticed the strange smell that filled the room and the sensation they received from it. They had always known the scent, but now it seemed more desirable as was what caused it. The twins looked at each other with understanding. They wanted the scent and the object that created it.
" Boys?" Kale raised an eyebrow when he saw them eyeing his cooking with glassy eyes. Eyes that were no longer violet, but a strange whitish blue. " What do you need?"
" What cooking?" Duojo asked, his eyes screaming out in hunger.
" The lamb," his father replied. " But it's not cooked yet, still very bloody."
" We try?" Seiji inquired in a begging voice. The twins always used the words 'we' or 'us' or 'both' whenever they spoke about themselves. They never spoke of themselves as individuals unless the other was not around, which wasn't often.
" You can't have raw meat," Kale laughed. " It's not healthy for you."
" Is it?" a voice asked from the doorway.
" Kayura?!" Kale gasped as he stared at the ageless woman. " You come back."
" As I said I would," she nodded. " Now why won't you give the children the meat?"
" It's not cooked yet," he replied matter-of-factly, " They'll get sick."
" Are they not sick all ready?" she tilted her head to the side. Kale was about to question her when he remembered her gift of 'sight'.
" So what do I do?" he asked. " I can't just give them the meat."
" Give it to them and trust me," she answered. " But please do not say or do anything until I say."
" Why?"
" Please just trust me."
" Please Poppa!" the twins cried simultaneously.
" I hope to Kami that I don't regret this," he sighed in spite of himself. Cutting off two small chunks, Kale handed each of his boys a piece.
" We smell this?" Seiji looked at Duojo with a hungry expression.
" We smell," Duojo nodded as he and his brother began to eat the meat at the same time. In less than fifteen seconds the meat was gone.
" More?" Seiji asked sweetly. His father took a step back and was about to yell when he caught a glimpse of Kayura's solid expression.
" What wrong Poppa?" Duojo asked through jagged teeth. He and Seiji both had grown long fangs that grew over their lips and their eyes were no longer deep and dark but a startling white/blue. Not a single drop of the blood was smeared on their faces and their skin had turned a tint back to its regular shade.
" Kami-sama!" he gasped. His look of fear and confusion was only met with ones of mirrored befuddlement in his children's eyes.
" Poppa?" Seiji cocked his head to the side. " What wrong?"
" What have you done?" Kale demanded of Kayura. " You told me to give them the meat and now look at my children! What have you done?!"
" I have only showed you the truth," Kayura answered. " It is a part of Makia's heritage, though not seen for five generations."
" What is it?" he asked. " How can I change them back?"
" This is what they always were," she sighed. " They have an illness. They need blood to live whether it from something alive or not. You know what they are."
Kale shook his head, " But they only speak of them in the northern villages near the border. Surely, my boys can't be…"
" Vampires?" Kayura finished. " In a way they are even more than that."
" What you talks about Poppa?" Seiji asked.
" You okay?" Duojo questioned.
" I'm fine boys," Kale wouldn't look at them. " Maybe you should go play in the other room."
" We leave," they both nodded, but Duojo turned to look at the meat left on the counter."
" More first?" he gave a pleading look. Kale looked at him and couldn't help, but realize how innocent he still seemed.
" No," he shook his head.
" You have to give them more," Kayura butted in. " They've gone too long without it for just a small portion."
" They have to have it?" Kale could feel queasiness arising in his stomach.
" Yes they do," the wise woman nodded sadly. " I'm sorry, but it's part of the disease."
Kale began cutting up the meat and stacking it onto a plate for his children. " Just give all of it to them," Kayura told him. " You and I both know they will share it equally." He nodded in agreement and uncertainty.
" Come boys," he led the two transformed children down the hall and into the bedroom that they shared with their father. After the death of his wife, Kale had swore never to let his children out of his sight and it seemed that they were most calm and content when cuddling up to his warmth at night. It didn't disturb the father because he clung to his children as a way to decrease the pain of their loss. He set the plate on the floor near the bed and walked back out of the room, closing the door after himself.
" Speak Kayura," the blue-haired man's patience was gone and his nerves over-tested. " Tell me all you know about this so that I may help my children. Do you know what the Village Council will do to them if they find out?"
" Yes," she admitted. " But I know you would do anything to prevent it."
" Of course I would!" Kale seemed almost offended. " I won't let them take them away from me! No matter what 'disease' they have, they are my sons, my flesh and blood."
" Then I shall stay," Kayura replied coolly. " They must have the blood required, but I can feel their auras, They are pure children and would not resort to killing people unless forced. That makes them safe for now."
" What do you mean 'for now'," the father questioned as he sat down at the table.
" Their hunger is weak now, but it will grow with their age," she answered. " You must be willing to teach them how to hunt and remained unnoticed."
" I will do anything I have to for them," Kale stated his vow proudly.
" Believe me, I know you will," Kayura gave him a sad smile.
Five years later
" You, Kale, have been found guilty of theft and vampirism," the man's words were loud and angry. Kale sat one his knees staring out over the crowd of hateful villages. " The mark on your neck proves as much," the man pulled back the bound man's head to reveal two round scars near his collarbone.
" Your punishment is death by beheading!"
Kale said nothing as his eyes rested on three figures in the back of the crowd. Kayura stood, her demeanor unwavering, with a boy on each side of her. Their eyes were now a dull deep blue and tears covered their pale cheeks. He mouthed the words, ' I love you,' before lowering his head to the stool before him. The executioner raised his ax above his head and the boys could take no more.
" We go now!" Seiji grabbed his brother's hand and pulled him from the Town Square. The two ran past all the sneering faces, past all of the whispering lips, and past all of the homes, including their own, into the wood on the outskirts of the village. Kayura watched them go as she heard the sound of the ax cut threw the air and then a sickening thud followed by the roared cheering of the crowd around her. Not one person knew the truth.
The boys ran until Duojo tripped on the root of a tree and fell. They sat with each other, no words needed to express their sorrow, as they let the tears fall willingly. " Why?" Duojo whispered to his brother, breaking the silence. " He hurt himself with the fork. Why didn't he tell them, Sage?"
" They wouldn't have listened," his brother spoke with elderly wisdom. " He was trying to protect us Duo." He patted his brother's bark brown hair and stroked his braid. " Poppa said that they wouldn't understand if we tried to explain it to them. He said he was doing it for us."
" But now he's gone," Duojo pointed out. " Now he's with Momma and we're all alone."
" Not alone," a voice interrupted their depression.
" Granny Kay," Seiji turned around to face the woman. " How did you find us."
" I knew where you would be," she said as she tossed his blonde braid over his shoulder playfully. " I know you're upset… What they did was wrong, but you can't hate them."
" I wish I could go and eat them all!" Duojo growled. " They deserve to pay for what they've done."
" No!" Seiji shook his head. " Poppa said to never drink from people no matter what!"
" And look what they did to him!" the brunette cried on his brother's shoulder, trying hard not to completely break down.
" It's okay to cry boys," Kayura consoled them. " But when you're done we must leave."
" Why?" Seiji asked. " We have to bury Poppa first."
" I'm sorry little ones, but the council ordered his body burned," she could see the horror, pain, and anger written on their faces at the news. They held onto to her and cried relentlessly, no longer able to hold it inside. After all the other injustices, they couldn't even bury their father with their mother.
" Don't worry," Kayura whispered as their sobs softened to sniffles. " We'll be going to a new place where you can forget all about the ignorance of these people."
" Really?" both boys inquired in unison.
" Yes," she nodded. " If we stay they will surely come to hurt you as well. We can't let your father's sacrifice be in vain."
" We won't," Seiji told her.
" No, but I swear as long as I live I will find a way t make them pay for what they did," Duojo promised with a dark fire burning in his now red eyes.
