Author's Notes: At first this was going to be a bit angst demo...it turned out happy. In my perspective, that is. ^^;;
*************
It was raining hard that day as it fell relentlessly on the cold, hard ground, and the rooftops of numerous houses as well as the buildings.
Thunder claps flashed and sounded out all over the terrain followed by lightning. A figure wearing nothing more than shorts and a sweater ran off, vainly trying to reach its destination. Her long, wet golden hair set on two buns resembling meatballs trailing behind her back. Her cerulean blue eyes glimmering with hope and fear, from the sound of lightning and thunder booming not too far from her. Every time she heard the thunder claps she winced but refused to back down in fear, she needed to reach shelter and fast.
(Just a little more. Not far now.)she chanted within her head.
Zooming around a corner, the girl continued. Her heart beating wondrously
at an increasing pace. Her breathing shallow and her throat crying out for release from the pain of running at such a pace and not slowing down.
Just as the girl was reaching her area, she crossed the street. Her friends and family just on the building two houses from where she was. A truck sped by and she saw the blazing light and a loud sound.
Her feet stuck to the ground, refusing to move and her eyes widened in shock and awe as her pupils began to dilate.
*Beep* *beep*
"Usagi!!!"
"Usa!"
"Usako..."
The words sounded faint in her ears, as the echoing tones of the blazing horn from the truck was still ringing: playing over and over in her mind.
~.~.~
*Beep* *Beep*
The screeching tires coming over and hitting her prone form on the barren street. This time there were no sounds of her friends' voices or her parents. There were none at all. Instead of the truck, it was merely a black sports car, a jaguar. As she fell down, it was all hazy and a figure came out from the car towards her. She couldn't make out who it was, nor did she care. As the figure drew nearer, darkness consumed her. Most memories fading away from her mind replaced by nothingness.
*********
*beep* *beep*
Instead of the loud, harsh cry of the truck's horn it was now the pacing tone of a heartbeat on a monitor. Usagi's still form lay on the white sheets of a hospital bed. With her hair not on a bun but loose and displayed on the bed.
Her cheeks weren't rosy at all but pale and seemingly lifeless. There was an oxygen tank next to the bed with a mask covering her face. A white bandage on her forehead and on her left arm. Several more wires came around her body.
"I can't bear to see her like this," Ami veered her head to the side.
"I never saw this coming, not at all," Rei asserted.
"Neither did I," a new voice intruded on the group.
"Setsuna!" all of the females in the room turned around to face the Guardian of Time and Space.
"What did you say?" Mamoru demanded as he came up behind Setsuna.
"I didn't see this coming at all, not until now..." Setsuna bowed her head revealing her failure of guarding the princess.
"Do you know what will happen now?" Minako's voice wavered.
"...I...do not know. It's up to her now on what her fate will be. It is her will. Her will alone.." Setsuna forced herself to straighten up and say those words.
Silence reigned in after awhile.
"Tell me doctor, will my girl be alright? Will she be okay?" Tsukino Kenji, father of Tsukino Usagi interrogated the male doctor in front of the Tsukino family.
"I apologize over the fate that befell your daughter, Tsukino-san. However, the results weren't what I would say the best. There was much damage done on your daughter, the truck...didn't stop in time and so. So she was faced with disastrous consequences," the doctor stated in carefully placed tones.
"I am not asking about the past! I'm asking about the present and the future.
I am questioning over the conditions that she is in now!" Kenji shouted out.
"Kenji, please.." Tsukino Ikuko placed a firm hand on her husband's arm to stop him from overdoing things.
He relaxed and turned his head aside.
"You must feel horrible about your daughter's condition. Usagi is...in a good and bad state..."the doctor began.
"Tell us the good first and then the bad, please.." Ikuko requested.
"Well...Usagi's injuries are healing quickly. However, the bad news is that she's in a coma.." the doctor revealed her status to the parents.
"A...coma? Will she wake up?" Ikuko placed a hand over her mouth, her eyes beginning to shine with worry.
"That's the problem, we don't know. Comas are like that, it's up to
Usagi, whether to come back or not. It's all in her hands over the fate she chooses..."the doctor stated.
"Usagi..." Ikuko placed her head on her husband's shoulder and cried.
**********
"Who do you think she is?" a voice questioned somewhere far away.
(Where am I? Those voices...it sounds...uncommon to me. I don't think I know them, do I? How did I get here then?)
"I don't know; he found her. Days ago, remember?" another voice answered for the first.
(There's more? How many are there?)
"She's a babe! Don't you think so?" a cheerful voice commented nearby.
(The voices, they sound closer now...there are three now I believe.)
"Maxwell! Quit it! Can't you see the onna is comatose?!" another shouted and a whack was heard.
"Itai! That hurt, Wu-man!" murmured the one called Maxwell.
"It's WUFEI! W-U-F-E-I!"
"Yeah, yeah...whatever.."
"Maxwell..." Wufei's voice sounded challenging and tense.
"You guys, please! We have a guest in a serious state..."the second voice she heard earlier sounded reasonable and calm.
A click of a gun was heard all around the room.
"Omae o korosu," a new monotone voice entered the room.
"Err...hey, Hiiro! Heheh.." Maxwell's voice sounded worried.
"Put the gun away, please..."the reasonable one pleaded.
(This group is weird...how did I end up here? They said they found me..where are my friends though? Friends? I have those, right?
Where am I? The last thing I remember was...was...I can't remember…but I know this isn't where I belong, is it?)
"Hey! She's moving!" Maxwell's voice sounded excited.
*groan*
The girl groaned out as she struggled to wake up.
(What's happening? My body is protesting against movement. How bad is my body in now?)
She opened her eyes and with most of her strength, she used it to force her body in a sitting position but someone forced her back down.
"You really shouldn't miss; you're in a bad state after your run-in with Hirro's car.." the reasonable one's voice told her.
She gazed upwards and stared up to a platinum haired teenager with light blue eyes. In her opinion, he's about seventeen years of age.
"The person in the car, is he okay?" she inquired.
Duo blinked while the others showed their way of expressions. Quatre blinked in shock then turned it to a small smile. Wufei smirked in amusement while Trowa and Hirro remained unfazed.
"Maybe you should see for yourself, he's right there.." the reasonable, calm and caring boy pointed in front of her. Standing in the corner of the room was a boy with unruly brown hair and Prussian blue eyes. His eyes fell on her eyes, at the moment his eyes studied hers she felt a wave of indecision yet calmness and something else in there. It made her uncomfortable but there was also something there that made her reassure herself. It was odd to decipher, something she couldn't comprehend.
"It's good you're alright..."she whispered out and fell her head back on the pillow.
"I don't see why you're worrying over him, you should be worrying over
yourself, onna..."the one she recalled in her mind as Wufei.
She beamed a small smile over to Wufei and remained where she was on the comfortable bed. Wufei wore a white shirt and black jeans. His hair was in a tight ponytail that reached the nape of his neck. His eyes were blazing with the color of char coal black. And his features were set in a grim expression except for the amusement dancing in his eyes.
"Hey babe, the name's.." Duo was about to introduce himself.
"Maxwell, right?" she faintly stated.
"Err...not exactly but how did you know that name?" Duo demanded in a nice yet uncertain way.
"I overheard you all talk while you believed I was still unconscious," she informed.
"Uh...oh..well the name's Duo. Duo Maxwell," winked Duo with a grin.
His eyes were the color of indigo blue, his hair fixed in a long braid the reached his waist. From her first impression, she'd say he would be fun to be around. Out of all the five in the room, Duo would be the one she would feel that she could be friends with most easily.
"Might as well introduce myself to you onna, the name's..."Wufei began.
"Wufei," Wufei and the girl both at once stated followed by a giggle from the girl.
"Guess you heard that too.." sweat dropped Duo.
"I'm Quatre Raberba Winner," Quatre smiled.
"Trowa Barton," Trowa stated in an indifferent tone.
The one named Trowa appeared to be older than the others. In her guess he'd be nineteen or eighteen at least. His serious expression and mysterious aura made her feel uneasy to be around him. But in her heart, she knew she could
rely on Trowa if it would come to a life and death matter. His hair was brown and the bangs covered one area of his eyes. At the one eye she could see it was the color of dark green. He wore a black turtleneck and blue jeans. And now that she notices it, he is also the tallest of the group.
"Hirro Yuy," Hirro grunted out from his position.
"Nice to meet you all.." she beamed up a smile.
"Do you know where I am?" she finally asked afterwards.
"Well you're over at Australia on Earth in Quatre's house," blurted Duo who was then met with death glares from the others excluding Quatre who sweat dropped.
"Australia? How...did I get here?" she frowned.
"Well you were found in Australia crossing a street in the middle of a storm at night time, or don't you remember?" Duo stated in an off-hand manner.
"I remember...it was raining hard with thunder and lightning. I was
crossing the street to go home and then the honking of the horn, the bright lights coming closer and then...then I couldn't move. So I stayed where
I was waiting for the inevitable. After that...nothing. Next thing I know
I'm here.
The weird thing is though...I don't remember being in Australia. I believe that I was somewhere else, somewhere far. And the calling of my friends crying out for me…at least I think they were my friends...and that's all.." she revealed.
"Not in Australia, huh? Weird..."Duo commented.
"There was no one around that night, it was just you and me in the car," Hiiro stated the facts.
"Oh.." she bowed her head in sadness.
(I know that they were there. I couldn't see them but I heard their voices.
So clearly...and it wasn't Hiiro's car, it was suppose to be a truck. So what does this mean? That all this time, I just imagined these? No, it can't be. Because…because...everything was so real to me..) she assumed.
"Who are you anyways? You know us, but we don't know you.." Duo interrogated.
"Oh, I'm sorry. My name is...is..."she suddenly frowned as she struggled to recover her name.
(My name…my name is…this can't be! I know I have a name! I just...can't...no! I refuse to go like this. I must have a name...)she struggled and fought back tears.
"You do remember, don't you?" Wufei quirked an eye at this as Trowa studied the young one's face.
(Those voices from before they were shouting out something. It was...
it was my name, which is...which is..)the teen's mind whirled.
"I do. My name is...Usagi.." Usagi felt relief wash over her at remembrance.
"Glad you're all right, Usagi.." Quatre smiled.
"Thank you for saving me. Thank you all.." Usagi said in gratitude as she nodded her head towards them.
"Well your condition is improving Usagi, why don't you stay here till you're all healed?" Quatre offered.
"Is that all right with you all? I don't want to be a burden," Usagi
felt worry welling up inside of her at intruding upon these people.
"That's completely fine, Usagi. You're hurt from the accident. So it's our duty to see you back to full strength and then we'll find your way back," Duo intercepted with a nod of agreement from Quatre.
"If...you're sure.." Usagi uneasily said.
"Just say yes, onna!" Wufei growled out.
A sudden smile lit up on her uneasy face and Usagi nodded her head in happiness.
"Okay, yes!" Usagi grinned out.
"Well then, you should get some rest.." Quatre said.
"Thank you, again.." Usagi yawned out feeling sleep reaching her once again.
"No problem, Usagi.." Duo's voice sounded faint within her ears as sleep overtook her.
**************
Usagi's mind was hazy as her blue eyes opened slowly only to be faced with darkness. The ceiling was white and bare, totally unfamiliar inside her mind.
A faint smell of medicine reached her nose and also flowers of different varieties.
Groggily, Usagi adjusted her head and saw several roses and baby's breath. On the other side lay tulips and violets. Several balloons floated by on either side.
Just then she also realized she had an IV and an oxygen mask on her face with a heart monitor
(I'm in a hospital...)Usagi noted and her eyes fell shut to be overcome with darkness.
Then a flat line fell after that.
"Oh no! Room 107 has a flat line!"
"The name of the patient?!"
"Tsukino Usagi."
"Get the supplies! Quickly! And call the doctor!"
***************
*blink* *blink*
"Urghh...what time is it?" Usagi groaned out as she turned her head sideways to try to reach for the alarm clock she usually kept next to her on the bedside table. But instead of the expected object she was met with a bare one.
"Huh?"
Struggling to get up, she only found out she was still too weak.
(How can that be? I usually heal in a day's time. That's weird.)
"Seems like you're not doing too well yet, Usagi.." a familiar voice chuckled from the doorway.
Blinking in confusion, the familiarity finally sank in and Usagi grinned towards the unexpected visitor. A boy with long brown hair tied in a braid was currently leaning on the doorway wearing a black priest-like outfit with a cross dangling around his neck. His merry indigo blue eyes stared over at her figure matched with a grin.
"Morning, Duo..hope you slept well.." Usagi greeted as she managed to get in a sitting position after a series of attempts.
"You too, Usagi..."Duo nodded to her and stepped inside to sit on a vacant chair next to her bed.
"Oh hey! Usagi, breakfast will come by in a few minutes, okay? The others
have already eaten, we're going to send you you're breakfast in awhile.." Duo recalled.
"You didn't have to, I could've come down if you woke me up," Usagi said.
"Hey, you're the guest. Remember? Anyway, you're in no condition to get up yet, Quatre's sister said that your ribs are bruised from the collision and you're leg is sprained. It seems your wound on your forehead is healing quite nicely and your left arm is already better," grinned Duo.
"How long was I out?" Usagi questioned.
"Oh let's see before you woke up, I'd say about one week - two weeks," Duo placed his arm behind his head with a small sweat drop.
"That's a long time, I only thought it was just a day or two.." Usagi revealed.
"Hm.." Duo shrugged and leaned on his chair.
"When do you think I'll be able to get out of this bed?" Usagi inquired.
"In three days minimum," Duo guessed.
Just then a knock sounded on the door and Quatre's guardian Rashid intruded in their small conversation with a plate full of steaming hot food. The waft of breakfast met her smiling face and Usagi beckoned him to come closer.
"Thank you, sir.." Usagi said and Duo took the plate to hold momentarily while a servant came in with a small table and placed it in between Usagi's body and
Duo put the food on top of it. Rashid then placed the necessary utensils and left with a hasty good-bye and curt nod.
"He seems...distant.." Usagi frowned.
"Don't worry about that, it's morning...there are several people who aren't a morning person.." Duo waved it off as nothing.
"If you say so, Duo.." Usagi shrugged and accepted the reason given out, then picked up her fork and spoon staring at it momentarily.
(It's odd on how I have to use these things...I remember using something else. Was it...chopsticks? I believe it was…but I suppose I'll have to get used to this type of eating style.)Usagi inwardly noted and tested it out as she used the fork to pick up the piece of sausage and plopped it into her mouth.
"Yummy!" Usagi grinned and began to eat in a fast pace.
"Woah, you eat as fast as me!" Duo dropped his mouth in awe as he gaped at the blond before her.
When breakfast was done, Usagi leaned back on her bed and fell silent. Duo was just content at being right beside her, observing the blond with a small smile.
"Duo?" Usagi broke the lingering silence with the sound of her melodious voice.
"..."Duo gave a small nod, signaling he was listening.
"Have you ever felt that you belong somewhere else? That here you are in this
world with people all around you that are real and living. But then in your heart, you know you don't belong? That somewhere out there…there's another
world crying out for you, waiting for you..."Usagi murmured.
Duo narrowed his eyes, trying to understand and finally nodded his head.
"Yeah, I feel that sometimes. But not anymore..."Duo answered.
"Why is that?" Usagi studied his serious expression.
"I have the others to keep that out of my mind. Long ago, I felt that I didn't belong. But when I met the other guys it faded away in time..."Duo grinned.
"I wonder if I'll ever find my way..." Usagi smiled lightly and rested her head on the pillows.
Duo got up from his seat and prepared to leave when Usagi called out his name from the bed. Turning his head, Usagi was gazing back at him.
"Do you think I'll find my home again?" Usagi asked.
"Sure you will," Duo smiled in assurance and left the room.
**********
It was a month now since the meeting between Usagi and the gundam pilots. They haven't revealed to the blond girl who they really were and Usagi didn't say who she was either. Both sides kept a secret from one another, but they still got along just fine. In fact they were so close they considered one another family. At least as close as they can be to a family.
"Hey you guys! I'm back!" Usagi shouted out loud as she stepped inside the large mansion a book bag draped over her shoulder.
"Rashid, where are they?" Usagi asked the familiar Maguanac entering the entranceway.
"Over at the library I believe," Rashid answered.
"Thanks!" Usagi said in gratitude as she hurriedly ran up the long flight of stairs.
"What?! You mean even after all this time, we still haven't found out where her home is at?" Duo's voice shouted out, reaching out to the corridor.
"Shh..calm down. I'm sure that Hiiro can find it," Quatre's voice stated in a trusting and calm demeanor.
"It's been a month, Quatre. And Hiiro has looked everywhere, including the information in government files. If Hiiro can't find her, I don't know...I mean Perfect Soldier over there can find any of us from 30 minutes to one day. And we're one of the best! So how is it, that he can't find a simple background information on Usagi?" Duo questioned.
"I don't know...it's like she's from another world.." Quatre responded with a heavy sigh.
"Do we tell her?" Wufei interrogated.
"...iie. Let her be happy, she's better that way.." Trowa answered for them.
"Hai. A depressed bunny is not a good thing," Duo agreed.
Usagi heard the conversation and began to walk back where she came from unnoticed. But Hiiro's eyes lingered on the doorway and his acute hearing and eyesight saw a small glimpse of Usagi's piece of hair turning away from the doorway. The Perfect Soldier got up after a few minutes and left the library.
"I don't know what I'll do. It's been awhile since I saw home," Usagi
whispered out, her back slumped over on the wall, her knees propped up to her chest.
"Just live. It's all you have left," Hiiro grunted.
"Live…just live.." Usagi sighed.
Hiiro thus left her by herself afterwards.
As Usagi left the hallway to get back to sleep, her mind drifted off
to another world just as she expected. For that past month, Usagi found out that every time she slept, her mind would wander off to another world. Another area, another...dimension she believed. Here, she'd groggily wake up in the same scene, a hospital.
(Is this...my home?)Usagi contemplated.
Usagi struggle to get up, but her body refused to just like every other time.
She could no longer speak nor move; her body prevented her. She didn't worry though for some reason, she simply disregarded it as nothing to become panicky about.
Observing the area, she still smelled the sweet smells of the same flowers as last time. It's still cool and comfortable with the company of the balloons and flowers. But this time a change has occurred when Usagi found herself closing her eyes but still in the presence of the hospital.
"I know you can hear me, hime," an intelligent and mysterious voice stated.
(That voice; so familiar. What's her name?)Usagi wondered.
"It is your choice and yours alone whether to return or not. You can not stay in both worlds, you must choose...)the woman continued.
(Both worlds? Yes, I live in two now, don't I?)Usagi figured.
"But before you leave, hear us out.." a new voice intruded, one that is croaked from days maybe even weeks of crying. It sounded faint and feminine with years of knowledge and intelligence.
(What? Who....I just can't remember anymore..)Usagi heaved a resentful sigh.
"We love you, we all do..."a new voice intruded, with a touch of need and
merriment with love laced in all of it.
"Minako is right, Usagi. Return to us. All of us, Mamoru has been grieving for more than a month now. Wishing you'd wake up. Without you, he's nothing. He's lost all will to live now, he's locked himself inside that apartment of his. It took all of us put together to finally get him out just a few days ago. Your parents have been crying, even Shingo! Yes, your own brother is left in sorrow. As all of us has been feeling," a fourth voice intervened.
"And hey, here's something, Usa-chan. I heard Miss Haruna is worried!
Can you believe that?! When you didn't show up for school, she was worried.
And when she heard what happened, she didn't know what to do. She was at a loss! She even cancelled all homework and tests for the day to think and mourn in silence," the one named Minako piped up.
(They sound as if they care...)Usagi noted with a touch of sadness and yet happiness.
"So Odango Atama, wake up! Who'll I fight with and nag at for your lateness? Minako's been trying to fill in for that, but it's just not the same," a fifth voice joked out.
(She's familiar as well...)Usagi noted.
"As you all know, we all care about you. You know what awaits for you if you choose to return. We shall await your decision...but time is running out. You must remember that. So choose." the same woman who spoke to her earlier finished then Usagi felt her body leaving that world to return to the other.
***********
"She's in a coma, I can't believe this. For a little over a month she hasn't awaken. And one time she slipped,"Ami choked out as fresh new tears fell from her blue eyes.
"She's been in another world. A world that must be worth something if she was about to loose herself to it," Minako uttered.
"I still don't clearly understand this," Makoto shook her brown head.
"Usagi is in a state of decision. A place where she can choose between two worlds. Her own or the other. This...coma...she's in has left her where she can walk another world, another dimension if you will. This dimension is different I believe from where her reality resides in.
If she doesn't choose in time, she'll be forced to eternal death. Time
is running out for her," Setsuna explained.
"And how long does she have?" Rei questioned.
"...I don't know, but I do know this. If Usagi refuses to make her decision soon, something may happen to her...." Setsuna's eyes flashed sadness and regret.
"What will happen?" Ami asked hesitantly.
Setsuna bit her lip lightly before heaving a big sigh and readying herself to answer the question.
"When a person lies in the brink of death within the depth of his/her soul, this person shall be in the state of decision. Forced to determine whether he/she dies or not. However, that is not what happened to our dear hime.
Usagi is left between two worlds. In one world she has what she has now. In the other, what has been offered to her. Our hime can't choose both worlds, if she doesn't choose.... If Usagi doesn't choose one world, her soul will succumb to makurayami or what is translated as total darkness.
In this place, it will be what others have described as full darkness that
embraces you into itself. No feelings, not enough love or hate just...indifference. An area where you are refused of anything; even light. Where you can't even remember your name, age, or what you've had in the past.
This is total darkness. And this may be the fate that Usagi will lean towards if she doesn't choose," Setsuna murmured softly.
With that said and done, Setsuna took one last glance at Usagi before walking off through the corridor and away from the solemn appearance of the dark green hospital door that led to Usagi's room. The other girls gazed downward, alone in their thoughts and feelings. Rei's head was downcast her position facing towards the walls and her arms crossed around herself. Ami was to the side of Rei, her head cast downwards and her knuckles tightly fisted as a few tears fell from her eyes. Makoto leaned against the plastered bleached wall, her arms around her knees drawn up to her chin with her head down. And beside Makoto was Minako her legs lying limply on the tiles her gaze forward and glazed over with held-in tears.
"Usagi..." Minako whispered out softly with so much emotion that it made her cry saying that name.
"Usagi.." Minako repeated with more strength that her voice cracked and she sobbed for her friend and her hime.
Around the corner, Mamoru stopped walking after hearing the discussion and stood idle on his spot with an empty paper cup of coffee in his grasp. After hearing Setsuna's information about Usagi's condition, Mamoru felt an empty well inside his heart.
(Usako....would you really leave us? Leave us for that other world?
And would you...allow yourself to sink into that horrible fate of darkness?)
Mamoru questioned himself.
His feat numbly led him to a trashcan where he dropped the paper cup. After hearing a small rustle as the cup landed, Mamoru's heart stopped a beat and he walked back towards Usagi's room.
The other girls ignored his presence, as each one of them still thought about the fate that their friend has led to. As Mamoru turned towards the door, Rei stepped away allowing Mamoru passage without question; without thought.
Mamoru grasped the handle and turned it, before he pushed it open Mamoru halted. But stepped inside and his eyes fell upon the face of his love. His life. His being. His princess. Usagi.
Her face wasn't contorted with pain or anger or fear. All that lies there
was peace, tranquility, and the small touch of happiness making her face glow with so much youth. His heart began to beat faster at the mere sight of her.
(...How could I have been selfish earlier? Whatever decision you make whether it be with us or with the others...)Mamoru sat down beside her bed and grasped her hands into his. It felt warm and comforting despite the condition she is in.
"No matter what happens, I will still support you, my princess. As long as your fate is not that of total darkness, I am content. If you decide to leave us for the other world, then it's fine with me. Just as long as you're safe and you're content with your life. Just live, Usako. Just live..."
**************
Usagi gasped out loud as she raised herself with a jerk from the other realm.
Her long blond hair was in disarray as she woke up and her body was lined with sweat from the long yet short 'dream' as she called it.
(I must choose...)Usagi reminded herself and her eyes fell upon two delicate laces lying on the bedside table.
With a heavy heart, Usagi picked them up and got off the bed to prepare for the day.
"Hey Usa!" Duo's cheerful voice cried out as he came across Usagi.
Usagi didn't hear him and continued on, making her way pass the braided boy but was stopped once strong arms grasped her shoulders.
"What's wrong?" Duo's voice altered to concern.
"Huh?" Usagi blinked and finally realized where she was. The first thing she noticed was Duo's silver cross and then recognized who it was.
"Duo..."
"Yeah, that's me. Usa, something's bothering you.."
"Bothering me? Iie...excuse me.."
Usagi tried to release himself from him, but Duo didn't let go.
"Tell me. You can trust me, ne?"
"Demo...."
(You must choose....)a faint voice echoed within her ears.
Closing her eyes, Usagi stepped closer to Duo and grabbed his arms for support from the memories of the dream. Duo held her to him, whispering words of comfort. As the last trace of the dream finally let go, Usagi pushed herself away from him. Her eyes filled with loss and sadness.
"Arigatou..thank you Duo..."Usagi whispered before darting off and down the corridor.
****
"Where do I belong? Should I stay here or leave? And if I leave, how do
I? Demo...demo...I can't...remember them. Not one of them..." Usagi clutched her head, shaking it. Trying her best to sort all of this out but it only resorted to more confusion.
"Onegai...onegai..tell me what to do..." Usagi pleaded silently.
"All you can do is take what life offers you, Usagi. That's all any of us can do..."a monotonic voice advised from the shadows.
"Hiiro....how long have you been there?" Usagi raised her head towards the sound of his deep voice.
"Hn." Hiiro grunted and pushed himself off the corner to reveal himself.
"Tell me Hiiro, what can I do? If...a person had to choose whether to continue on with his/her old life or to take up a new and possibly better life, which would be the better option?" Usagi carefully placed out.
Hiiro was silent before he walked over to her form on the ground. He placed his fingers under her chin to gaze at her cerulean blue eyes. They were shining with hope and pleading at him to give her an answer to her long awaited question. Waiting for his guidance and not anyone else's.
"This person is you. This is the position you're in, isn't it, Usagi?" Hiiro stated out the obvious instead of a questioning form.
Usagi dropped her gaze and nodded numbly towards him.
"Don't you want to go home? Or is there another reason as to why you don't want to return?" Hiiro interrogated, his eyes fixed on her form.
"I...may have a hunch as to where it is. But..."
"...."
"I'm not sure if I should go back."
"...."
"I can't remember who I am exactly. I know my name, age...everything.
But I'm unsure as to who I am to the others."
"You are who you are.."
"Hiiro?"
"Hn."
"If you were in my position, what would you do?"
"....."
"Hiiro?"
"Take up what life has to offer you."
With his last words, he left her by herself in the room they previously shared. Once the door shut with a click, Usagi returned her gaze back towards the spot where he was at before.
"But...what exactly does life have to offer me right now? What does
he mean?"
"What do I do?"
(You must choose...)the faint and distant voice reminded her.
"I must choose..."
****************
*knock* *knock*
"Usagi? Dinner's ready," Quatre's polite words echoed through the closed
door.
"...."
"Usagi?"
"...I'm not hungry.."
"...are you sure?"
"......"
"*sigh* Very well, if you are later on. You can always come down and ask the cook. Okay?"
No answer received him and so Quatre left the young girl alone in her houghts.
(They tended to my wounds when they could've left me to die. They sheltered
me when I could've just fended for myself. And they could've ignored me and yet
they accepted me.
But...
What about my other home?
Those voices. They held sorrow into their hearts as they spoke. Wishes and
hoping I'd awaken and return to them. To choose them. To leave this place
to return to my old life..
And this...Mamoru. Is he my love? Do I love him? Should I love him?)Usagi
pondered.
Taking off a lace from her meatball hairstyle, her hair tumbled down in
great waves over half of her body while the other style held on. Usagi
fiddled around with the velvety pink lace through her fingers, lost in thought.
As soon as the blond teen closed her cerulean blue eyes, the lace drifted
down to the comforters of her bed as her inner self fled to the confines
of her mind. Readying herself for another experience of her other
home.
(I'm back at the hospital...)
An older man around his 20's sat beside her, she could feel his warm
hands encircle themselves around her right one. His head was bowed down
and his breathing was even and soft. He had messy midnight black hair
with bangs covering his closed eyes. Obviously this guy was asleep.
As her eyes studied this man longer, she noticed that near her hand was an
open locket, releasing waves of hypnotizing, tantalizingly sweet melodious
music into her ears. A song that caused her to feel at ease and safe.
Know that everything will be all right in the end.
As Usagi relished at the thought, images filled her senses. Scenes
of her past life. Her life with these people. With this man beside
her right now.
Illustrations of herself pictured with familiar faces. Herself dressed
in a cognizant blue school uniform, her arms draped around two laughing
and cheerful faces as she dragged them off somewhere. Beside
her feet was a black cat with a...gold moon insignia. The cat's eyes
filled with so much knowledge and love as it gazed up at her, Usagi.
(Who is that cat....her name…her name...should be...Luna…yes, Luna.
My cat from before..)
Another blaze of past memories mixed with new ones came to mind.
An ancient palace on the grounds of the glowing white moon. Peaceful,
tranquil, and irradiant. Fireworks setting off into the starry night
followed by gay laughter, dancing couples in formal gowns, and a smiling
beautiful Queen with silvery white-purple hair with fairy wings sitting on a
throne watching with kind-filled eyes.
A princess and her prince dancing the night away. Filled with love
in their eyes.
Another image came up.
Ruined kingdom, dying Queen, magic filling the air to be sent to a
new time. New world with renewed future. Two strangers meeting
one another on the street. Exchanging insults until one day they realize
their love for one another but disguised it. Until one day, secret
identities were revealed followed by confessions of love.
Saving lives. Break-ups. Difficulties. Overcoming obstacles till
it led to a prosperous future. Ruling as King and Queen of the new Crystal
Tokyo. The glimpse of their future. Their future together as destiny will
have them.
Brought back to the present. Beating the enemies that stand between
them and their future. Having her dear friends by her side through all
the strife they've faced. Comfort. Confidence. Loyalty.
And then.....as Usagi tried to shake herself away from these illustrious
pictures that floated through her mind another one impaled her.
The midnight black hair, ocean blue eyes, a grinning face. Red roses
held up in front of her. Wearing a tuxedo. Herself, Usagi, going up to
him to take up the red roses and gazing up at his eyes with love and happiness.
(I love him, don't I? At least in this world I do...what's his name
though...?)
As Usagi watched the scene before her. Herself smiled widely and thrust
herself to him, squealing in excitement. Shouting out his name with so
much enthusiasm.
(What did she say? I know she said his name...but what is it?)
Then another one came to her mind. The same man jumping down from a
tree branch, doing a flip and landing in front of herself. Except this
time she wore an outfit; an odd one at that. The man was protecting her
from this monster.
(He protects her and he loves her. In this...past life, he was quite
a gentleman...a prince...his name is...Mamoru...I believe that would
suit him. Hai, Mamoru.)
At that, the images vanished and she found herself still the hospital.
The locket was still open, the song playing on and on, never ceasing.
"Usako, live...just…live..."Mamoru murmured out as he still slept on.
(Even in his dreams, he still thinks about me. This dimension must
care for me a lot...)Usagi noted before sinking into darkness to return
to the other world.
************
Usagi woke up and noticed the lace sprawled on the comforter. Picking
it up, Usagi set it down on the night stand and took off her other lace.
As she gazed at herself in the bureau, Usagi saw herself and reflected
back on the discoveries she's made.
"The other dimension, it cares for me. But I've also noticed the amount
of weight on my shoulders should I choose to return. Here, I can be
normal. Quatre and them...they would be able to take care of me. Be
my family...wouldn't they?" Usagi contemplated.
Deciding not to think about this any longer, Usagi opened the door and
stepped off. Her feet carried her off only to lead to a door farthest
from her room and on this corridor. Not knowing what she was doing, Usagi
opened it and stepped inside. Instantly a click went off from a barrel of
a gun. Shock and fear made its way through her veins, sending up a warning
sign to go off.
It was dark in this room, pitch black but as time passed with every second.
Her eyes eventually adjusted in the dark to notice a form take shape across
from her.
"I…I…"Usagi trembled and stuttered.
"Usagi..."the form mumbled to itself as the figure placed back the safety
switch and placed the gun away.
"Hiiro?" Usagi sighed out a relief as he gave a grunt of reply.
Filled with relief, Usagi collapsed on the ground trying to recover
from the horrible experience. Hiiro strolled over to her side and placed
comforting arms around her shoulders, trying to calm her down.
"Gomen ne for scaring you..." Hiiro tried to apologize, yet his tone didn't
change.
"You're not much for apologies, are you Hiiro?" Usagi smirked up at the
'Perfect Soldier'.
"Hn."
"It's okay, I'm not much for bravery.." Usagi confessed and snuggled up
to the warmth that radiated from the soldier's body.
"What are you doing out here?" Hiiro interrogated.
"....."
Noticing Usagi's uncomfortable silence, Hiiro tightened his grip around Usagi's body and craned his head downwards to gaze at her solemn eyes.
"It's about you decision..." Hiiro figured out.
Usagi gave a wordless nod and leaned her head against his chest.
"What am I suppose to do?"
"It's your decision, whether to leave or not."
"What about you guys?"
"What about us?"
"I-I don't know what's to become of you or me..."
Hiiro gave a low chuckle, his voice deep and unprepared for this sort of thing.
"We'll survive. We have for so many years. I'm sure we'll get a hang of things without you in our lives."
"....."
"But just the same....if...you do stay here, with us..."
At the sound of the alternative, Usagi's eyes were trained on Hiiro. Sincerity shined from those Prussian blues.
"We'd be grateful, I'd be grateful."
"Why? What would cause all of you to be happy with me around?"
A smirk touched his lips. From the weeks or the month that she's
known this 'Perfect Soldier', they haven't been close to each other. Haven't
really gotten to know one another as much. And yet from the past few days
he's revealed himself to her. More than she'd hoped for.
"You've given us life. A new view on things. It's because of that. We
consider you as family, Usagi. Family..."Hiiro answered with such softness.
Usagi widened up her eyes a bit at the answer and his tone of voice. There
was affection in it.
(Family....)
Images of her little brother, mother, and father. Illustrations of her
future self with Neo-King Endymion and Chibi-Usa/Rini. Her friends and
the Starlights. Sailor Moon.
Shaking those off, she gazed up at Hiiro who still had his arms draped
around her. Scenes of Duo being chased by Wufei in some days. Duo and
herself being together, playing small pranks, getting to know one another
in the few weeks they've been together. Duo greeting her and accepting her
so quickly. Quatre being so kind and tending to her wounds. And she could
tell Wufei accepted her, even though he still called her onna at times. Trowa
may be silent but his company with her was peaceful. All of them made her feel complete. Even the Maguanacs despite their over protectiveness towards her at times.
"I recall my past. All of them. Earlier on I only had slight hunches at to who I was, but now...now I know everything."
"Do you want to go back home? Back to your old life?"
Gazing up at his Prussian blues, Usagi bent her head and rested it onto his
chest. Feeling his soft heartbeat and even breathing.
"Not yet, not just yet..."
Hiiro stroked her hair and both of them continued on in that same position throughout the night.
*****************
A few days later, Usagi's personality appeared to be less hectic than it had been days ago. She was more at ease with herself and her surroundings but from time to time she'd become silent. Her eyes glazed over and deep in thought.
"What's wrong with Usagi?" Duo finally questioned the others.
"I..don't know.." Quatre shook his head.
"The onna's probably bothered about her old home.." Wufei stated.
"Could that be it?" Duo asked the others.
"We should tell her," Trowa voiced out.
"Yeah, that we couldn't find her home..."agreed Wufei.
"And where would she go?" demanded Duo, his eyes blazing.
"Here. She'd always be welcome here. She could live here as she has been doing for the past month and a half.." Quatre suggested.
"Who's going to tell her?" Trowa wondered.
"I already have," Hiiro grunted out.
"Whaa? When?" Duo took on a quizzical expression.
"Few days ago."
"If you already told her she could stay here, why is she still depressed sometimes?" Duo pointed out.
"She's deciding..." Wufei stated.
"About what?" Quatre queried.
"Her choices.." Hiiro answered and left the room.
*****************
(You have to choose. You don't have much time left...)Usagi kept reminding herself.
She knew that time was running short for her. She had to choose soon whether it be today or tomorrow or the day after that. All she knew was that it had to be decided by this week. And two days have already past, leaving five days left. Only five.
In one hand she could always go back home. Where familiar faces would greet her. Her wonderful family that would love her no matter what. Quarrels with her little brother. All her friends: loyal and true. Every time she slept she'd drift off and catch glimpses of them, hearing their comforting words and encouraging her. Waiting for her return. And her supposed beloved. Visiting her, his hands upon her hand giving warmth, strength, and comfort.
So many awaited her in the other life. And she also had to protect that world. She was suppose to be a long, lost princess reborn into a normal
teenager and warrior. Fighting for peace and love. Fighting for the good.
Without her, what would happen? Would they still be able to survive? What would the others think?
Weight suddenly fell upon her shoulders at this new perspective that came to view. What should she do now?
Usagi sat there in the garden, flowers blossoming with the warm sun hitting
upon her. Sending warmth and providing as much comfort to her that would be possible. Robbins, blue jays, and hummingbirds tweeted or flew by and around her form. In their own ways, soothing out the stress that has been on her.
"Whether to leave or not..."
"What do you have back home?"
At the sound of the new voice that suddenly invaded her secluded spot, Usagi became startled and whirled around to face the intruder.
"Trowa..."
The brown haired, long banged teenager stood at the entrance of the garden.
Wearing his usual black turtleneck and blue jeans. The silent pilot casually walked over to her and gazed over at the various flowers surrounding the golden haired teen.
"Don't you think that your family will care? Or your friends?" Trowa pointed out.
"I suppose they would and the others...they'd need me, wouldn't they?"
Trowa didn't say anything.
"I have many duties back home. School, being a dutiful sister...and all those responsibilities..." Usagi continued.
"Maybe we'd be able to visit..."suggested a new visitor.
"I doubt it, Quatre. It's difficult to get to my world.." Usagi wryly answered.
Trowa quirked an eyebrow.
"I believe so. You haven't found out where my home is in. To my knowledge,
the only other reasonable answer would be that I belong somewhere else."
"Hmph. You're talking nonsense, onna.." Wufei grunted out.
"Maybe so, Wufei.." Usagi grinned and twirled a violet around her fingers.
"So does this mean you're going back home?" Duo questioned.
"I...haven't decided." Usagi regretfully sounded out.
"Whatever you decide, we'll be there," Quatre comfortingly voiced out.
"Arigatou."
*************
(You must decide. Soon, soon total darkness comes…comes..)a faint voice warned out.
Usagi glared hard, contemplating before the two worlds. As no answer came
to her, Usagi pushed off the covers around her lithe form and went outdoors.
"Can't think?" Hiiro's words intruded the silence as the warm rays of Aurora's
fingers touched the black sky.
"I'm to decide by tonight or tomorrow morning, Hiiro." Usagi whispered.
Hiiro came up behind her and placed his arms almost hesitantly around her form and drew her close. His warm breath breathing in her scent lovingly. Sending small shivers to her spine.
"What is your will?" Hiiro's deep voice questioned to her ears.
Staring straight ahead momentarily, Usagi took in the lovely sight.
Memories came back to her. Herself dressed in that attire she used when fighting, gazing out at the endless water as sunlight came to play. Her comrades sending out their support towards her after her loss. And her prayers, hoping that her loved one...wherever he was...is safe.
Now here she was, with Hiiro. Whatever she decides, she won't be alone. Seeing that she has love in both worlds. So, what is her will?
"I'll decide tonight...once the first star comes into view." Usagi proclaimed.
"Hn."
**************
"The makurayami is coming for her tonight. I am certain," Setsuna informed them as she came into the room.
"So she has to decide by today," Rei murmured.
"How will we know she's safe? If she decides the other world instead of this one?" Ami inquired.
"Her body will still be here but her spirit will leave. And her Silver Crystal will appear before us and break..." Setsuna voiced out.
"I see.." Ami nodded in understanding, fresh tears pouring forth at the mere thought of losing her friend.
"I don't think I can bare being separated from her.." Minako asserted and
buried her face with her hands.
"It's at her own will.." Setsuna shook her head and sat down beside Usagi's
prone form.
Her face already beginning to pale before their eyes as time began to run out
with each passing hour.
"It's her own will..."
*************
Usagi stopped herself in the hallway, clutching her head as memories became
more detailed.
"Arghh.." Usagi grunted and felt a pull inside her chest.
"It's coming for me...whatever this is....it's consuming my soul.." Usagi stated.
After a few minutes, the sensation passed away and she was back to normal.
Eyeing the sky outside and noticing the time, Usagi walked on to her destination. It wouldn't be long till the first sight of the star would come out.
Usagi stopped once more as she noticed the portrait of the pilots and herself.
It was only two weeks ago when this came to be. Right after Ririna visited
them here in Australia. Usagi grinned at the mere thought, Ririna was everything that the pilots told her. A 'stalker' was what Duo put it in as. But despite their low comments of Ririna, Usagi enjoyed her company.
Ririna confided in Usagi, openly displayed her emotions towards Hiiro. Stating
that she loves him, which is why she acted so...so...well you could say psychopathic.
(I'll admit in the other world, I could be viewed in that way with a bit less
animosity.)Usagi noted and picked up her pace to get outside.
"They don't even know what I'll decide, not yet..."Usagi confessed as she
took one last look at the mansion and walked away.
Darkness swept over her form to be taken within the portal. Flashes of
lightning and booming thunder crashed nearby. Steam rose beneath her
feet with echoing screams.
"Where am I?"
"THIS IS WHAT IS KNOWN AS THE OUTER PLANE. YOUR DECISION SHALL TAKE
PLACE HERE AND NOW, MORTAL..." booming mixed voices confronted her, coming
everywhere at once.
"Outer plane?"
"YES, MORTAL. NOW WHAT IS YOUR WILL? DECIDE NOW OR THE MAKURAYAMI SHALL TAKE YOU.."
"What's this makurayami?"
"TOTAL DARKNESS, GREATER THAN THE ABYSS ITSELF. WHERE NO EMOTIONS RESIDE
AND NO MEMORIES PASS BY.."
"Total darkness..."echoed the young teen.
"NOW WHAT IS YOUR WILL?"
"My will...my will is to be with.." Usagi answered out, her last words
to her answer being cut off as a great whirling wind enveloped her body
and sucked into darkness.
"IT HAS BEEN HEARD..."
***************
Hiiro watched as the rest of the stars came out and the moon still shone brightly as ever. The others saw this as well and once all the stars came out, they left. Alone in their thoughts.
"She made her decision..." Wufei stated and left to go into his room.
"I'll miss her," Duo confessed and brushed back his bangs and tightened
his braid as he left.
"Hn." Hiiro shut his door and sat on his bed but his senses soon perked
up.
Clicking off the safety on his revolver, he pointed his trusty gun towards the foreigner. But as he squinted his eyes, he noticed that there was no one in the corner his senses picked up on.
"Remember you question to me earlier today?
"What is your will?" the sound of twinkling bells nearly giggled as it
spoke into his ears.
Hiiro let out a silent smirk but didn't budge from his spot as he lowered
his gun.
"Hn."
"Well...my will is.." Usagi leaned closer.
"What is your will?"
"Like what you said to me earlier. Is to take up what life has to offer me. And this is what life offered me..." Usagi wrapped her arms around him.
"I don't think I'm much of an offer," Hiiro grunted, his eyes twinkling jokingly.
"You? Who said you're the reason?" Usagi joked.
Hiiro's eyes momentarily glared at her before it shined with mischief and he had her in his arms and kissed her. His warm, smooth lips capturing hers as his own. Caressing it, pouring forth all the passion he held in. All the affection he had for her, ever since that rainy and stormy day he found her. Watching after her secretly and discreetly.
Memories of Usagi's past life poured out, disappearing to be replaced with
her current situation. Hopes for a new future. New life. New love. And
new friends.
**************
"Her body, it's glowing..." Makoto pointed out.
"She's made her decision," Setsuna voiced out with much wisdom and knowledge.
A beam of light surrounded the lithe form and from it, her spirit hovered off.
It's eyes open and silently staring at all of them. Lamentation and forgiveness
being asked of them for her decision.
"We understand..." Ami's tears fell one by one as she said this.
The spirit extended out its hands toward her, caressing her cheek before drawing back and going off to Mamoru who stood quietly in a corner.
"Mamo-chan...." Usagi's spirit crooned towards him, leaving one last kiss on his lips before it left with a wave.
"Ja ne, minna.." the spirit began to glow and took out the Silver Crystal thus
raising it over her head.
"Ja ne..." Usagi's spirit departed after it threw the crystal down towards
the ground.
Breaking it to several pieces of various colors and disappearing with a cloud
of crystallized fragments.
"See ya, Usa..." Rei murmured alongside the others.
"It is her will..." Setsuna reminded them.
And with that, Usagi's lifeline ended with a long beep.
***********
"What do we do now?" Usagi questioned after they broke off for air.
Hiiro's Prussian blue eyes glinted with a sign of life in those usual
dull pupils.
"Live...just live..."Hiiro answered.
(Just live, Usako. Just live...)the voice of Mamoru suddenly appeared in her
head.
(That voice...it's familiar to me, isn't it?)
(Sayonara...)the same deep voice echoed within her mind.
(Ja ne...minna...)Usagi's last memory of her past life left her mind and vanished.
Usagi snapped out of her reverie to take in the present time around her.
She now has a new life to live, despite her past memories being replaced
with a new one.
"Hai, Hiiro....hai."
The End.

O.o I believe this to be a very corny ending. >.<;; Oi...
Demo, it just popped out in my head so I used it.

The End.
***************
O.o I believe this to be a very corny ending. >.<;; Oi...
Demo, it just popped out in my head so I used it.
*shrugs*
