Gundam Wing Fan Fiction / Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ The Search for Happiness ❯ Disaster ( Chapter 12 )
People were now evacuating, their cries of horror and panic ringing in our ears. If we didn't do something quick, they would destroy the school tryin to find us! Not only that but there would be unnecessary casualties.
"Yes! No more school for me!" exclaimed Usagi.
"This is serious, Usagi!" Ami hissed.
"We've got to get to a different place to transform!" Makoto said. "If we don't lead them away from the school now, they'll destroy everything!"
We ran until we got to a safer place where there were no buildings around; just open space.
"Let's do it!" said Minako confindently. "Venus Star Power!"
"Mercury Star Power!" said Ami.
"Mars Star Power!" I said.
"Jupiter Star Power!" Makoto said.
"Moon Crystal Power!" said Usagi.
Once we were all transformed, the enemy mobile suits had spotted us, and followed us to the open field.
"Hey metal head!" called Usagi. "You have no right to go around literally crashing the party! I am Sailor Moon! Champion of Justice! Enemy of Oz! And that means you!"
"We won't let you take over the colonies or anything for that matter! Oz is going down! I am Sailor Mars!" I said.
"I am Sailor Mercury! Knowledge is my attribute, and I know that you'll be defeated!" said Ami.
"I am Sailor Venus! There is no beauty in wars, and we shall end it!" said Minako.
"I am Sailor Jupiter! You better think twice about messing with me! You're looking for trouble and you have found it!" said Makoto.
"Enough nonsense!" came a voice from a Leo. "We're not interested in any of you except for one!" The Leo pointed a finger directly at me. "Sailor Mars! Surrender yourself immediately!"
"You'll never take me alive!" I said. "Mars Celestial Fire Surround!" The Leo exploded.
"Supreme Thunder Dragon!" said Makoto.
With that, the chaotic battle began. For our first time fighting in a real battle as a group, we were doing pretty well.
"Venus Crescent Beam Smash!" said Minako.
"Shine Aqua Illusion!" said Ami.
It seemed that no matter how many mobile suits were destroyed, the enemy just kept on coming. Before long, there were getting to be too many and we started to doubt whether or not we could handle them all....or would we be overpowered.
"Moon Septar Elimination!" said Usagi.
"There are too many!" called Ami.
"Where are the pilots?" I asked.
"Right here!" called Duo as he sliced his way through. "The God of Death is in the action!"
The rest of the Gundams came to our rescue, and the battle became much easier since they lifted part of the heavy burden off our shoulders.
"What took you so long?" Usagi demanded.
"Sorry Sailor Moon," said Duo. "Traffic is murder."
"Hardy-har-har."
Soon all Leo's and Aries were destroyed. Before us lay nothing but piles of scrap metal and a few fires burning from them.
"We did it!" exclaimed Minako.
"Don't be so sure, Sailor Venus," said Quatre. "It's not over yet."
"What do you mean?" Makoto asked.
"Back-up troops!" I called as we were suddenly surrounded by another squad of mobile suits.
"There are too many!" Usagi cried desperately.
Then, Tall Geese came from nowhere and landed before us.
"Zechs," I growled.
"Ah, I see that you remember me. How pleasant."
"Pleasantly nausiating!" I snapped. "You tried to kill Trowa and I will pay you back a hundred-fold for even laying a hand on him Mars Firebird Strike!" My bird went after him but it wasn't able to destroy its target. It came back to me and cried out in frustration.
"I can tell that you wanted to continue our last battle. Let's do it here and now."
"With pleasure."
"You can't do it by yourself!" Minako exclaimed.
"I have to Venus."
"You shouldn't!" said Ami.
"I want to get this guy. He's caused us way too much trouble, and who knows when he'll stop." I walked towards the Tall Geese. "Let's start."
I tried to do all my best tricks on him with the help of my Firebird. It was incredible! The speed and agility that he was able to master with the giant suit was unbelievable! He was able to take on every one of my moves, and I became overly frustrated.
"Mars Fireballs Flash!" While the fireballs flashed at his camera, blinding him a moment and causing some damage, my firebird moved in and attacked. The Tall Geese staggard sideways, circuits starting to fizzle.
"Very impressive," Zechs said. "But all your efforts are useless!" He fired at me with his beam cannon. I held up my arms in defense, blocking the powerful blow, but it was too strong for me to handle, and I was sent flying in the air screaming pain suddenly ripped through my body.
"Sailor Mars!" the pilots and scouts called.
I was laying on the ground, weak from the explosion and from using my magics. I couldn't give in this easily! I'm the scout of war, with the strong inferno running through my veins. That gave me added strength and I stood up. When I did, Tall Geese had it's beam cannon pointed at me about to fire.
"No!!" shouted Trowa. He opened the cockpit and stepped out. "Don't shoot! Take me instead! I surrender!"
"Trowa no!" I called.
"I told you before, I'd die for you."
"Please don't!"
Zechs didn't shoot. Instead, he came out of Tall Geese and walked over to me.
"I have no intention in hurting you. Just come with me."
Though he tried to give a sincere expression through his mask, I shot him an angry look of my own. This was my chance to make my move. I could use my fire magic, but I'd start saying `Mars...whatever' and he'd know. I looked for some way out of this mess. I then noticed Zechs had a gun on his belt, and it was just within reaching distance. Without hesitation, I snatched the gun from the belt and pointed it at him.
"Zechs," I said, "if you don't kill me first, then I'll get kill you." He looked at me shocked. "Say good-bye, Zechs." I began to pull the trigger.
"Not this time!" he shouted. He grabbed my arm and moved it up before I could shoot him. The bullet strayed. There was a cry of pain.
"TROWA!!!" I called. "My god, no!" Trowa was holding his side where the bullet hit him, the flower I had put in his pocket gone. All that remained of it was petals flying to the ground. It was replaced by blood, of which Trowa tried to hold back, it running through his fingers. `Oh no,' I thought, `I shot him!'
"No!!" I shouted and started to run to him. Zechs held me back within his arms. "Let me go! Let me go!" I screamed with tears running down my cheeks.
With one last look at me, he fell off the platform and onto the ground, lying there motionless.
"TROWAAAAAAA!!!!!"
"Nobody touch him!" Zechs ordered the others before they could move. "My men will shoot if anyone goes as far as to blink."
I fell to the ground, sobbing. I killed him! I killed him! My tears overwhelmed me, as shudders wracked through my body, unable to control any of my emotions any longer.
"No!" I said crying, "this can't be happening! I killed him! What have I done?!"
"You're coming with me," Zechs said. He took hold of my arm, taking me to the Tall Geese.
My friends looked at me helpless as they saw me crying and being dragged away. Trowa died. I remember him telling me that if I died, so would he. I looked up, remembering what Dr. J had told me not to do with my morphing stick, I took it out and was about to do it anyway.
"I'm not going with you Zechs!" I said snatching my arm roughly away from his grasp.
"What?!"
"I told you!" I said, tears still in my eyes, "You'll never take me alive! Trowa made a promise to me, that he would die for me. Now he's dead! I'll die with him!"
"You can't Sailor Mars!" shouted Usagi.
"I have to, my friends. I've got no other reason to live anymore." With that I took my morphing stick and pressed the Mars symbol. "Forgive me." I was surrounded by flames, but this time the flames were burning me alive. I screamed out in agony the fire burned my skin, but the burn still came in no comparison with what I felt in my heart in losing Trowa.
"Do something, Mercury!" begged Minako.
"Mercury Bubble Blast!" she called.
I was in a bubble, and the flames were gone. I could feel the cool healing effects soothe away the burns, and when the bubble burst, I was on the ground, almost unconscious. I then felt something pick me up, and when I looked up I saw the Tall Geese, picking me up with its gigantic hand. That was the last thing I saw, for I then fell in the darkness of unconsciousness.
***
When I woke I found I was in a bed. There were bandages all over me. My Sailor Scout uniform was torn and ripped. My face was smudged and my body was still red, even though Mercury used her magics to heal me. I looked around and saw I was in a huge room, with a huge window and heavy blue drapes. All of my surroundings were very fancy, including the feather soft bed I was layed upon. Where the hell was I?
Then I remembered what I had done. I killed Trowa. Dammit, I knew something bad would happen! It's just like I always thought from the beginning. If I let my guard down for some reason, something would sneak up on me when I least expected it. And it did. It brought me such sorrow and anguish that I never thought I could feel in my entire life. I cursed myself for falling in love, and I vowed that I would never love again. I will go back to the life I always known, with loneliness being my friend. Then the door opened, and in walked Treize Khushrenada.
"So I see you've made it," he said. I struggled to sit up. "You shouldn't get up, you know."
"Shut the hell up," I said crossly. "Why did you save me?"
"I didn't. Zechs did."
"Damn him!" I shouted as I hit my fist on the bed. I winced in pain from the aches I still felt.
"Are you all right?" he asked.
"None of your concern. Where am I?"
"You're at one of our bases. Can you walk?"
"Why do you want to know?" I asked harshly.
"Zechs requests that you see him."
"I don't want to set eyes on a man who destroyed my life!" I shouted.
"You mean that young pilot you were with?" he asked.
I gave him an angry look and shouted, "Just shut the hell up! You don't know anything!" Tears were running down my cheeks, and they hurt my face. "I shouldn't be here! Why the hell am I here?!"
"I suggest that you come with me to see Zechs, and he'll answer your questions."
"I will."
I rose up and followed him out the door. I couldn't walk really well, and my side hurt the worst from Zechs's attack with the beam cannon. However, with what pride I still had I refused to complain, limp, or hold my side to comfort the pain. He led me to a door and opened it for me, and I walked inside. I looked around and saw that it was an office. There was a desk, and Colonel Zechs was sitting behind it.
"Hello Sailor Mars," he said.
"Why did you rescue me?!" I demanded, ignoring his greeting. "I was supposed to die!"
"You have no reason to die."
"I have no reason to live! I lost everything because of you and your damned organization!"
"That may seem the case to you, but you'll see that you shall just gain everything and even more."
"What are you saying?" I asked.
"I had a reason for not destroying you, Sailor Mars. Or should I say, Rei Hino?"
"Rei Hino? What the hell are you talking about?" I asked innocently. He had figured out who I was. I'll try to deceive him and let him think otherwise.
"Don't play innocent with me. I know it's you. I have proof." He handed me some pictures. "These are pictures that a Leo took while you were transforming."
Sure enough, he was holding before and after pictures of me. It must have been the Leo that I destroyed at the air base!
"How do you know my name?" I demanded.
"There's another way I could tell it was you." He took my wrist and held it up. "The bracelet you were wearing."
"What about it?" I asked, snatching my arm away.
"Didn't someone give it to you? Someone by the name of Milliardo Peacecraft?"
"Yes. How do you know?"
He stood up and stepped closer to me and gave me a smile. He then took off his mask. When it was off I gasped in suprise and horror. It was Miliardo!
"You're Zechs Marquise?!" I asked in shock.
"Yes. I came to your school to find out who were the ones that were chosen to fight OZ. When I met you, my desire to destroy you was no more."
"You monster!" I shouted as I slapped his face. "You lied to me?! And here I thought that you really did care for me! I thought you were my friend, and you go and double-cross me?!! You ruined my life!"
"I'm sorry. I have a chance to renew your life. Please join me in OZ. Then we can rule the colonies together!"
"Never!" I hollered. "I don't want to have anything to do with you! I wish I never knew you Miliardo! No, that's not your name. Zechs, you can take this back!" I threw the bracelet at him and ran out the door with tears in my eyes.
I went into my room and slammed my fists on the dresser in frustration. That son of a jekal lied to me!. I looked up in the mirror and saw my face, tear-stricken and fallen. Wiping them away I sat down, looking out the huge window. I saw that we were on the beach, the view quite breathtaking. It was a shame that such beauty had to be used for an OZ base. Then, the door opened and Treize walked in with a package.
"Rei, Zechs wanted me to give this to you."
"Call me Rei-san, and I don't want to have anything from Zechs! I want to leave now."
"You shall be staying with us. You have no choice."
"I will escape. You can count on that."
"Who could escape this security? No one can, so you'd just be wasting your time." With that, he turned and left.
I turned and saw the package on my bed. I opened it and found a violet dress, white gloves, and white shoes. I wasn't about to wear anything that Zechs gives me anymore. Even if my scout uniform was torn and dirty, there was no way in hell that I would accept hospitality from my enemies.
I was a prisoner, trapped in what appeared to be a paradise but in reality was a barren nightmare. There must be a way to get out of here, but I couldn't escape now, not in my condition. I would for now just look around and try to figure out a way to escape. Even if I did escape, where would I go? I would always be on the run. I would probably go back to space, and see what Dr. J would say to me about what to do.
I walked out the door. When I walked out, I noticed that a guard was standing outside my door. `Just what I need,' I thought. I went downstairs and out into the garden. The flowers were beautiful, most of them were roses. Walking about the butterflies and hummingbirds, I sat on a stone bench and picked a rose.
It reminded me of when I gave my rose to Trowa. The rose that shattered when I killed him. He's gone...I just can't believe he's actually gone! I feel so empty now, my heart is hollow, unable to feel. Just like when my parents passed away. So lonely, so depressed. Remembering him just makes me feel sadder for what I had done.
"Trowa," I said softly, "please forgive me." Then, a guard came to up to me.
"Excuse me miss, but you are required to go to the dining hall for dinner."
I looked up at him, but said nothing.
"Would you like an escort?"
Still not answering, I rose from my seat. He led me out of the garden and back into the house, and into the dining hall. When I was announced in I scowled. I feel like I'm being treated like a princess, and I didn't want to be treated as such from an enemy. I walked in and sat down at a circled table. Zechs and Treize were seated, waiting for me.
"Good evening, Rei-san," Zechs greeted. "Why is it that you are not wearing the dress I sent to you?"
"I don't want your charity," I said crossly as I began to eat.
"I see you were in the garden," Treize said. "You shouldn't be outside, your face is burned enough."
"I do not need any of your concern," I said.
"Why so hostile?" Zechs asked. "Nothing wrong with a little socializing?"
"I cannot think of anything appropriate to say to someone who has ruined my life." Tears began to fill in my eyes but I stubbornly held them back.
"My dear, there is no need to cry. We are giving you the finest opportunity here to join us," said Treize. "There is no reason for tears."
"I had everything I've ever needed before you came. I had friends who really cared for me."
"Including that young pilot?"
I sat tall, in confidence. "Yes. He was always there when I needed him. You took him away from me!!"
"Rei-san," said Zechs, "please consider our offer."
"I already have. My answer: I'll die first." I got up and started to walk out. Two guards were standing in my way and tried to stop me. Thanks to Dr. J teaching me karate, I was able to get passed them easily, and I ran back to my room.
***
It was night. Even though it's only been a few days that I've been here, it still feels like an eternity. Everyday I've been giving Treize and Zechs a hard time, but it's only payback for all the trouble they've caused me. Not only me, but everyone else that had to be dragged into this damn war. Everyday, they keep asking me to join them, and I give them the same answer: I'd die first.
I looked out my window and saw a full moon, and I wondered how I'd be able to escape from here. I was still a bit hurt from the burns, and my side still had a bad scar. I sat on my bed and thought of what to do, when there was a huge explosion in the courtyard.
When I looked out I saw that we were under attack! My friends have found me and have come for me! I knew it was true, I could feel it! I had to get out of here, but how? I can't transform anymore. Then I felt a burning in my chest. It felt so familiar. It didn't burn, but it was a sensation that I thought I would never feel again . I went to the mirror and saw a red heart glowing through my tattered scout uniform.
"What's going on?" I asked myself. "Could this be a new power within me? Mars Crystal Power!" I was able to transform once more into the champion of justice, Sailor Mars. However, this time, my scout ensamble was different. White knee-high boots with red trim and a gold star replaced my red heels. My skirt was layered with three shades of red, the lighter on the bottom and the darker on the top and two thin red sashes hanging down. The light red sleeves kind of made a ball on my shoulders and when I looked on my back, my eyes grew wide in amazement. I had a pair of white wings with a tint of red glow to them!
Now that I transformed, I could feel my power level increase dramatically. I flew out my window, enjoying the feel of my new wings, and onto a roof below me. From there I flew from roof to roof to where the battle was going on. Before I could get there, a Leo spotted me and shot at me. I was able to move out of the way and onto the ground. However, my side began to hurt again with great pain.
"Maybe I should've waited before going," I said. "Mars Arrow!" An arrow of fire appeared. "Mars Flame Sniper!"
I kept flying on, in hopes of finding the others. I was getting ever so close when another Leo started firing at me. One of the shots almost hit me and sent me spiraling in the air. I landed on the ground with a thump, and my side was getting worse. It felt I had broken something. I couldn't get up, and the Leo was coming closer. Then, I fell unconscious.
