BLEEDING HEARTS

We are now at the age of the New Silver Millenium, Crystal Tokyo 30th century. The Crystal Palace has four towers, each housing one of the four Guardian Godesses to Neo Queen Serenity. Surrounding the kingdom, are five crystal towers guarding the sacred grounds from evils. These are where the pilots reside. Trowa has not returned fro his duties, and Catherine as mysteriously dissapeared. Rei's heart continues to bleed out sorrow and not enjoying anymore pleasures of joy she removes the curse from Wufei. However, instead of being relieved, he's angry for he had used it to get closer to Ami. Now they'd drifted apart and she's by Zoicite's side. Where is Catherine? When will Trowa return? Will Rei's hear ever find resolve and stop bleeding? And will Duo ever get rid of that rediculous rainbow hat?

Duo: I heard that!!!

All this and more will be answered in the conclusion of this story. And now a message from Wufei.

Wufei: I want my curse back! Injustice!

It was one beautiful afternoon when Lita knocked at Rei's bedroom door. She opened i and saw Rei sitting in a rocking chair, her gaze empty and almost ghost-like.

Lita: How are you?

Rei: Like any other day, Lita. No different from the rest.

Lita: No need to be heartbroken anymore, dear friend, for the news I have certainly will lift your spirits. Trowa doesn't love Catherine.

Rei: Says who?

Lita: I heard it from Catherine herself! She was so jealous of you two, so she snuck into your temple one day and found a spell that made it seem he was in love with her. But only one dossage lasted 24 hours so she constantly had to give it to him.

Rei: *shock* The medicine during the ski trip!

Lita: Exactly. She has agreed to stop giving him the spell, so by the time he returns, it'll be you within his arms, not her.

Rei rocked in the chair smiling to herself as tears spilled from her eyes. She closed them and clutched something in her hands.

Lita: What is that you're holding?

Rei: *showing her* It used to be mine. It's a baby's gown.

Lita: How adorable! Is that your gift to Serenity's baby?

Rei: No.

She rose and walked towards a lovely cannopied crip and set the gown inside it.

Lita: Is the crib for her then?

Rei: No.

Lita: Then whom?

Rei: For Raven. The gift Trowa left me before he left. At least now I know she won't grow up without a father.

Lita: Oh Rei! You never mentioned you were going to have a baby!

Rei: It's not as important as the birth of the future rular of the New Silver Millenium.

Lita:But it's important since it's the birth of a new Guardian Goddess! Everything will be perfect, wait and see! Trowa will return and ou'll have the joy of raising your new daughter.

Rei: I do hope so, Lita. I'll continue to wait and pray for him.

Lita: There's...only one thing I wonder.

Rei: What?

Lita: I wonder how Jeadite will handle it. You know he's in love with you and-

Rei: And he's my soul-mate, I know I know. Things are different now. he'll just have to deal with it and move on.

Lita: ...He'll be heartbroken.

Rei: Then he shouldn't have gotten his hopes up.

Months passed, and the young guardian goddess and the heir to the Silver Mellenium were born only weeks apart, Raven being the oldest. Trowa, still being away received word of his new daugter. Back to normal, he was overjoyed and regretted not being able to help Rei. She understood his duties to the Queen and told him she was proud of him, and prayed for his safe return.

About three months passed, and in a distant tower, Heero was unfolding some alarming information. He typed furiously on his computer scanning through the database, only to slam his fists on the desk in frustration. There was a signal at the teleportation dock, and Duo appeared. he walked over to his troubled comrade.

Duo: You're up unusually late. What's eatin' ya?

Heero: *scanning through files* Take a look here and you'll know.

Duo read the statistics in wide-eyed shock. He backed up in awe and biting his lip, kicked over an empty chair.

Duo: Dammit! *kicks another chair* Shit! No way in hell this is happening! Not now! Not when-

Heero: Let's head over to Jeadite.

The two walked in the teleportation dock and then appeared in Jeadite's quarters. He sat in a chair also looking at his computer screene, grimly.

Heero: I take it you already know.

Jeadite: I do. *pushes button and a hidden wall opens revealing a secret passageway* Go to her.

With nothing else said they walked through until they reached Rei's bedroom door. Duo knocked and Deimos (in human form) answered it.

Heero: We need to talk to Rei.

Deimos: Do come in.

They walked in to find Rei tucking baby Raven in her crib, then pushed a button that put a sound barrior so that nothing would wake her.

Duo: Didn't expect you to be awake now.

Rei: Late night feeding, she just fell asleep. So, what brings you here?

Heero: We have a matter of ugency to discuss with you, princess. It'd be best if we were alone.

Without a word Phobos and Deimos left the room. A mysterious shiver went up Rei's spine, and an ominous prescence loomed over.

Rei: Is anything wrong?

Heero: As a matter of fact, yes. Believe me, princess, I wouldn't tell you this if it wasn't necessary.

Rei: If it's that imortant, perhaps you should tell Neo Queen Serenity first.

Heero: No, this involves you more than it does her. The rebels have gotten out of control and Crystal Tokyo is in danger. The rest of us pilots are heading out tomorrow to defeat them. We don't know hen we'll return. Yes, they're that strong.

Rei: Goodness! But how does this involve me?

Heero: That is the same area in which Trowa has been fighting all this time. Our database has received new information on his where-abouts. I regret to tell you princes, but Trowa won't be coming back.

Rei: *steps back* W-what?!

Heero: I'm sorry...but he's been declared dead.

Rei: No....NO! *punches Heero* Don't you dare tell me this! You're lying! IT'S NOT TRUE!!!

She continued her assult, slapping him and hitting her fists against his chest all the while crying uncontrolably. Heero just stood there accepting every blow that was given him, with empty eyes staring first at her then out the window. Duo pryed Rei away from Heero and held her, consoling her. Without a word Heero left.

Duo: You know, you're not supposed to kill the messenger.

Rei didn't answer, but continued to cry out in sorrow. Duo held her tighter, rocking her back and forth, whispering words of comfort to calm her down. The sound of his voice did relax her, and she pulled away and sat down on a cusioned couch.

Rei: Why does this have to happen? Raven will never grow to know her father!

Duo: Of course she will. Through the stories you'll tell of his bravery, she'll have his spirit protecting her. And since she's protected by Mars, she'll have visions like you. She'll know him, I know it.

Rei: I suppose you're right. But I'll never see him again! He'll never get to know her. My dream of us living together as a happy family has bee shattered.

Duo: I...I honestly don't know what to tell you...other than I'm sorry for what has happened. I should be going.

Rei: I'm going with you. There's something I must do.

Rei left Raven with Phobos and Deimos, and she went with Duo down the corridor to Jeadite's.

Jeadite: *rises* Princess! I'm so very sorry.

Rei: Thank you, Jeadite...I'm sorry too. *steps on teleportation dock* Set course for Tower 01 please.

Jeadite: Very well. *makes calculations and Rei dissapears* It should've been me consoling her! I'm her soul-mate!

Duo: Then why didn't you?

Jeadite: I don't know. It just seems odd that her soul-mate is consoling her after the loss of her husband, don't you agree?

Duo: I see your point, but I just don't understand why we have to go through this whole thing!

Jeadite: I agree. It's all very cruel and sickening...poor Rei...if she only-

Duo: But I guess it's better this way, at least for now.

Jeadite: Perhaps.

Meanwhile Rei had arrived at her destination. She stepped off the dock and looked around to find Heero laying on the couch with an arm over his face.

Rei: I hope you don't mind me dropping by.

Heero: *sits up* Not at all. What can I do for you.

Rei: You can accept my apology for my behavior earlier. I shouldn't have lashed out at you but-

Heero: No need for apologies. Your emotions got the better of you...that's all.

Heero looked away, and there was a moment of silence between the two.

Heero: When I saw you crying, I looked at you and thought, is this what it's like to have emotions? To love someone so much that if they left you'd cry? I'll never understand such things.

Rei: Heero, everyone has feelings. You are not void of all feeling as you think you are. YOu showed me concern when I felt depressed on our ski trip. You also showed me compassion when you didn't throw me out the window. *chuckle*

Heero: That wasn't compassion, that was trickery.

Rei: Then how come you admitted it to be compassion?

Heero: How is it that you're upbuilding me, when I'm the one who should be doing that since-

Rei:Because that's what friends do. I'm not the only one in this world who has problems to deal with. *smile* But to be honest, I wouldn't change a thing about you.

Heero: Really?

Rei: Not a thing. Well, I'd best be off. I know you've got things to do. Good night and good luck.

Nine years flew by like the wind. The pilots had returned with victory, and peace once again reigned in Crystal Tokyo. It was a bright sunny day as Rei sat on her window-sill reading a book.

Raven: *running in* Mommy! I'm gonna go play with Chibi-usa!

Rei: That's fine, dear.

Raven: Mommy? Are you okay?.....Is it about Daddy?

Rei: *looks up* I'm fine, Raven, really. Go on outside and play.

Raven: Okay. *goes up to Rei giving her a hug and a kiss on the cheek* I love you Mommy.

With that she turned and left, and Jeadite walked in. He smiled at young Raven before walking over to Rei and sat next to her.

Rei: She's so brave. She's never known her father and yet she continues to live happily. Maybe that's why I still feel sick...because I knew him.

Jeadite: You're brave too. You were able to raise a daughter on your own. That's no easy task. *smiles* She looks just like you.

Rei: Except for one trait she gets from her father; her lovely green eyes. I see her father every time I look at her.

Jeadite: I see her mother's spirit and grace. Rei, please, allow me to be father to Raven. She needs a father, what better person than I?

Rei: Trowa. Jeadite, we've been through this for so long, I'm sorry, but I could never love you as much as I loved Trowa. It would be too awkward.

Jeadite: But we're soul-mates!

Rei: That's what's so odd about it! Jeadite, you're a very dear friend to me, and that's the way it's going to be.

Jeadite: But it's our destiny! Our past lives-

Rei: We had nothing in our past lives, we barely knew eachother! And then you sold your soul to Queen Beryl!

Jeadite: She led me to believe that I'd be able to be with you, and we would live happily!

Rei: How the hell do you expect to find happiness in the Dark Kingdom!

Jeadite: Dammit, Rei! I was young and gullable! I would've gladly given my soul for you, and the same is now.

Rei: Jeadite, that's sweet of you, but like I said before, I can't.

Jeadite: You can't, or you wont?

Rei: Jeadite...

Jeadite: *sighs* All right. I won't bother you anymore.

Meanwhile outside the palace walls, Chibi-usa and Raven were playing their games. They weren't supposed to be that far from the palace, but they often snuck out anyway. They got that from their mothers.

Chibi-usa: That was fun! What should be do next, Raven?

Raven: Oh, I don't know.

Chibi-usa: Are you okay? You're not your normal self.

Raven: I'm just thinking about Mommy, that's all. She always looks sad because Daddy died. She regrets that I never got the chance to know him.

Chibi-usa: Regrets? What does she have to be regretful for?

Raven: Not like THAT. You know what I mean.

Chibi-usa: Yeah, I know. She wanted you to hava a normal family like I have with my Mama and Papa.

Raven: Yeah, you're lucky.

Chibi-usa: But your Mommy could have Jeadite.

Raven: Naw, Mommy made up her mind long time ago that her only love would be Daddy, even if he should die before her.

?: That really so?

Raven: Who said that?

A stranger in a black cloak and hood appeared. The only thing that could be seen was a pair of eyes and a smirk from the hooded shadow.

Chibi-usa: Who wants to know!

Stranger: I'm a messenger sent to deliver an urgent document to Neo Queen Serenity.

Raven: Being that you are only a messenger, it's no business of yours to concern yourself of our conversation!

Stranger: Are you the young princesses?

Chibi-usa: Yes, I am heiress to Crystal Tokyo, New Silver Mellenium, Princess Small Lady Serenity.

Raven: And I, guarded by the planet of fire, Mars, amd future Guardian Goddess to Princess Small Lady Serenity, Princess Raven.

Stranger: *bows* Do forgive me, Your Highnesses, for my intrusion. If you please, point me in the direction of the main gate, and I'l be on my way.

They did so and let him leave. Raven watched him go quizically.

Raven: He's a strange one.

Chibi-usa: Why do you say that?

Raven: Why would a messenger conceal himself with a cloak, if he's just going to deliver a document?

Chibi-usa: Shelter from the sun?

Raven: Wearing black makes it worse! Hnnnnn...oh well, the guard will check him out anyhow.

Meanwhile, Rei watched the children from her window. She knew oif thier frequent escapes outside the palace walls, but she remembered, she was that age once, and besides, there was peace so there was no potential danger. There was then a knock at the door.

Rei: Come in. Oh! Queen Serenity, King Endymion...what brings you here?

Endymion: There are certain matters of ugency we must discuss.

Rei: Oh, please sit down. What kind of matters?

Endymion: We just received a document about some falso information. It dates back nine years ago, during the rebel siege. Yes, that's where Trowa faught.

Rei: *lowers eyes* I see. So what does the document state?

Serenity: The data on the death of Trowa Barton was false.

Rei: *jumps up* WHat?! False? So he's alive!! Are there any idications of his current location? Why hasn't he returned here? How could a mistake like this happen? Are you certain THIS data is acurate?

Serenity: Calm down. Yes, the data is acurate, but as for your other questions, they weren't stated.

Rei: Hnnn...is the messenger still here?

Serenity: Yes.

Rei: Send him in. I want to talk to him.

Endymion: I don't see why you should. He's just a messenger boy and is not likely to have valuable information.

Rei: Just to be sure, I want to speak with him.

Serenity: Please, don't get your hopes up. I couldn't bear to see you dissapointed.

Rei said nothing, just nodded her head. Serenity and Endymion left the room and the messenger boy entered. He bowed, but didn't remove his cloak.

Rei: Would you like to hang your cloak, sir?

Messenger: No, thank you princess, I'm afraid if you saw my appearance it would put you in shock.

Rei: Oh, I'm sorry...I wanted to ask if you knew anything about the document you delivered.

Messenger: I don't read the documents. I just deliver them.

Rei: They state that the data on Trowa Barton's death was false. Do you know anything?

Messenger: Only the rumors from the local people.

Rei: Already they are rumors? Like what?

Messenger: They say that he was responsible for the false data. The rebels had gotten so out of hand he staged his own death so they wouldn't find him. He heard tales of his lover and their beautiful child, and desperately tried to get back to them both. So, princess, he'll be coming back to you.

Rei: My God! This is all too unbelievable! *pacing room* Any day he'll be back in my arms!

Messenger: Actually, it'll be much sooner than you think.

She turned and looked at him puzzled, He just stood there with a smile on his face. Removing his hood and cloak, he tossed it aside.

Trowa: For I'm already here.

Rei ran into him and the two were wrapped up in a passionate kiss that spoke for all the "I love you's" and the absence that had seemed to be an eternity.

Rei: But I still don't understand...why did you-

Trowa: Why didn't I tell you? I had to make it all look realistic so that my enemies would think I truly was dead. I'm sorry for deceiving you and putting you through a tremendous amount of pain but-

Rei: *puts a finger to his lips* I know...I understand. Right now I'm just so happy you're here with me.

Trowa: I've ached to hold you in my arms for so long, and to taste your sweet kisses.

Rei:*in Trowa's arms* Promise me never EVER leave me again. We've been through too much pain.

Trowa: But it strengthened the both of us didn't it? No worries love, I won't ever leave you again.

Just then the door burst open and Raven looked around in anticipation. She caught sight of Rei and Trowa and froze.

Raven: I was told...Daddy came back.

Rei: *walks over to her* You heard right. Raven, this is your Daddy.

Raven: *runs to him* Daddy! We thought you were gone! *hugs tightly*

Trowa: *tearful smile* Dear God! I never knew...let me look at you...You look just like your mother.

Raven: Mommy says I have your eyes, Daddy.

Trowa was speechless. He never knew he'd hear his daughter's voice or hear her call him "Daddy". Emotion filled his soul and he ached.

Trowa: The first time I saw you was in a picture of your mother holding you when you were a baby. I'm sorry I haven't been around, but I promise, we'll have good times from now on.

Raven: Yayeee!! *hugs*

Rei's wish had come true. She's finally having the perfect family she's always dreamed of. No more will her heart bleed out sorrow. The only thing that will flow will be tears of joy. Rei and Trowa were married and Crystal Tokyo welcomed a new prince, and the kingdom rejoiced. Has life changed for the pilots and sailor senshi? Not really. The basic chaos will never go away........at least when Duo is around with that funky rainbow hat of his.

Duo: Leave me and my hat alooooooooonnnneeeeee!!!!!!!!

And of course this story has a happy ending. They all lived happily eva afta!!!
