Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ "Untitled Story #2"/ "Sketchbook" ❯ Prologue

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

He walked down the path lined with pretty colored stone. It trailed around Quatre's large house and pooled in the garden in back. The sun was shining brightly and the smell of exotic flowers hung cloyingly in the air. The weather was warm, though he had opted to wear his single pair of blue jeans instead of his customary spandex shorts.

The stone path was rough and had be been his friend, he may have tripped. The granite stones sparkled with the shining sun. Finally, reaching the clearing, he entered the garden.

The other young man was sitting in the middle of the green bushes and multicolored flowers, drawing. Various colored pencils and art supplies huddled by his feet. He sat down by his friend.

The violet-eyed boy look at him, startled, and closed his sketchbook.

"Heero," the other boy blushed. "What-- what are you doing here?"

He wasn't drawing the garden.

"I was wondering... where you were."

"Oh. Ah..."

Duo quickly picked up the pencils and erasers and whatnot and placed them carefully in a box. His face was warm.

"What were you drawing?"

"Ah... nothing..." He looked away.

"Right."

"No, really: it's not all that good."

"May I see?"

Duo stared at him. "You what?"

"May I see?" he asked again.

"Uh... well, I..."

"Please?"

Duo blinked. "Whoa.... Heero Yuy just said please... you're not an alien are you?"

"Baka. May I please see what you were drawing?"

His cobalt eyes burned though the other pilot.

"Uh... h... a.... i..."

Duo relinquished the book to the other Gundam pilot , who took the sketchbook gently out of the other's shaking hands.

There were many pages. Some were of the other pilots-- Trowa and Quatre playing music, Wufei angry, Heero sitting quietly at his computer. There were other pictures as well. A large tree in the middle of the park. An abandoned doll. A hallway crowded with teenage students. A tulip. The sunset. A mother bird giving her chicks their first meal. A quiet beach with crashing waves. They were beautifully drawn, delicate and careful. The majority of them were illuminated with colored pencils.

"They're very pretty," said Heero quietly.

"A--aa." Duo was blushing.

He was about to turn another page when Duo interrupted him.

"Ah--- well! That's it!" he said, trying to take back the sketchbook.

Too late. Heero had turned the page.

Duo shrunk back, ashamed. The other boy just… stared at the picture.

The two of them kissing.

"See?" continued Duo, stealing the book from Heero's shocked hands. "Nothing to see!" He shut the book quickly. Then he turned away from the other, not wanting to meet Heero's eyes. Too afraid, too scared.

"Duo."

"…."

"Duo."

"What, Heero."

"Look at me, Duo."

The violet eyed pilot listened, and Heero could see that those violet eyes were wet.

"I'm horrible, aren't I?"

"No. Not at all."

"Yes, I am. I mean, we're both boys after all… and even if-- well, it doesn't matter. We're soldiers, or whatever the hell you want to call us, and it doesn't matter 'cause we're all gonna die anyway, right? And… and…"

"You're such a baka."

Duo looked up at him. "Hu?"

Heero's eyes were soft and he brought his hand up to caress Duo's face. Then, he gently leaned closer and brushed his lips against the other's.

"Heero?!?"

"Is that it's like?"

Duo blinked confusedly. "W-what?"

"Your picture. Is that what it's of?"

"I--- uh…" stuttered Duo, at a loss for words.

Heero smiled softly and took the sketchbook, turning to the last page. He studied it for a moment and frowned.

"Hmm… No. I did it wrong. It's more like this--"

He leaned in once again, this time, pressing closer and brought his hand up to cradle the back of Duo's head. A smile spread on his face as he felt the other boy melting in his arms.

When they broke away, both were panting for air.

"Heero…," the other whispered dazedly. His eyes were wide pools of glazed violet.

"I like the last picture the best."

Duo blinked.

"Really?"

"Aa. Do you know why, Duo?"

The braided pilot shook his head.

"Daisuki. That's why."

Duo blushed and then smiled warmly. "Daisuki you too."

[Mousie: Ermmm… that was a bit lame ending… hm? Oh! And I used "daisuki" because… "love" is just a weird word, and "like" isn't strong enough. "Daisuki"-- from what I gather-- means "I like you/I love you"… but isn't as strong as "Ai shiteru"… To me, "ai shiteru" is the ALL-binding "I love you", so I didn't think it really fit… o__O` So if "Daisuki you too." Sounds funky to you… Gomen!!! I wanted to use "daisuki"… but don't know enough Japanese to make it grammatically correct… =___=` Ahh, well. Duo's American after all.

Duo: What's that supposed to mean?

Mousie: Er--- nothing!

Heero: You put too much fluff.

Mousie: I like fluff! Screw you, Heero! >__<

Duo: I'd gladly accept that offer! ^. ~

Mousie: o___O``` 2…x…1…? (*quickly dismisses the though of uke-Heero's in little aprons and panties*)

Duo: Yum!]
