A small Arabian merchant bounced off of his camel, landing smoothly on the ground.

"Ah, Salaam and good evening to you worthy friend," he said happily. "Please, please, come closer."

There was a muffled squashing sound as you "came closer".

"Too close," he said in a muffled voice.

You pull back slightly.

"There! Welcome to Agrabah. City of mystery, of enchantment," he pulled a string on the pack on his camel's back, and a sale stall sprang up, "and the finest merchandise this side of the river Jordan, on sale today, come on down!"

He chuckled, leaning on the counter top and pulling out a rather strange looking object.

"Heh, heh. Look at this! Yes! Combination hookah and coffee maker--also makes Julienne fries. Will not break," he tapped the contraption on the counter top.

"Will not," he started again, before a crash interrupted him. "It broke..." He tossed it behind him, with another crash as it hit the ground.

"Ooohhh! Look at this!" he pulled out a box. "I have never seen one of these intact before. This is the famous Dead Sea Tupperware. Listen."

He pried it open, making a raspberry sound. "Ah, still good!

"Wait, don't go!" he cried. "I can see that you're only interested in the exceptionally rare. I think then, you would be most rewarded to consider...this."

He pulled a magic lamp out from his sleeve.

"Do not be fooled by its commonplace appearance," he warned. "Like so many things, it is not what is outside, but what is inside that counts."

You start to leave again, and he hurried to follow like he had before.

"This is no ordinary lamp!" he insisted. "It once changed the course of a young man's life. A young man who liked this lamp was more than what he seemed. A diamond in the rough. Perhaps you would like to hear the tale?"

He poured shiny sand from the lamp into his hand.

"It begins on a dark night," he began, tossing the sand into the air, where it formed a starry nightscape. "Where a dark woman waits, with a dark purpose..."

Relena, mounted on her dark stallion, stood at the top of a mountainous dune of sand. A girl, Dorothy, who looked like the woman's slave, stood at the horse's head.

The sound of hoof beats came to both their ears, and in mere seconds, a dirty little man on a horse came riding up to them.

"You...are late," said Relena softly, her voice dark.

"A thousand apologies, O patient one," answered Gazeem, jumping down from his horse and bowing low in front of Relena.

"You have it then?"

"I had to slit a few throats," he replied hoarsely, pulling out a small gold object, "but I got it."

Relena reached for the second half of the scarab medallion, but Gazeem pulled his hand out of her reach.

"Ah ah ah," he scolded mockingly, shaking a finger at her. "The treasure!"

Dorothy, fast as a rat, leapt forward and snatched the piece from his hand. She deposited it carefully in Relena's hand.

"Trust me, my pungent friend," said Relena softly, long fingers curling around the medallion. "You'll get what's coming to you."

"Yes, what's coming to you," whispered Dorothy from the horse's head.

Gazeem looked carefully at the little slave girl, thinking for all the world that she was the mentally challenged slave she pretended to be. Except for the small gleam of malicious intelligence in her eyes...

Relena ignored them both. She pulled out the other half of the scarab medallion. She slowly moved the two pieces together until they touched. The full medallion started to glow fierce gold. It zoomed out of Relena's hand, leaving a bright trail of gold sparks behind it.

"Quickly, follow the trail!" she shouted, pulling Dorothy up onto the stallion, whose mouth was foaming with fear but would not disobey its master.

Hooves pounded into the sand as they took off after the medallion. They followed until it reached a large dune of shadowed sand. There it separated into two, and the halves plunged into the dune. All that remained were two glowing points of light on the dune. But then the dune began to rise up, transforming into the giant head of a lion, with the glowing pieces of medallion serving as the eyes.

"At last," hissed Relena, her eyes as bright as that of the great lion, "after all my years of searching. The cave of wonders!"

"Cave of wonders" echoed Dorothy, sliding off the horse.

"By Allah," whispered Gazeem, his face a mask of fear and awe.

"Now remember," growled Relena at the thief. "Bring me the lamp. The rest of the treasure is yours, but the lamp is mine!"

Gazeem, chuckling nervously, started to slowly approach the lion, whose vast mouth opened up into the entrance to the cave.

"The lamp, the lamp!" screeched Dorothy, giving the thief a chill.

As soon as Dorothy and Relena were out of earshot, Dorothy stopped acting dumb.

"Jeez, where'd you dig this bozo up?" she grumbled to Relena.

Relena put one finger to her lips to silence the slave.

Gazeem had reached the mouth of the cave, but was blown backwards by the lion's fierce roar.

"Who disturbs my slumber?" it roared in a deep voice.

"It is I, Gazeem, the humble thief," answered Gazeem fearfully, bowing low in the sand before the great beast.

"Know this," thundered the lion. "Only one may enter here. One whose worth lies far within. A diamond in the rough."

Gazeem turned to Relena with a questioning look.

"Well, what are you waiting for," she urged impatiently. "Go on!"

Gazeem hesitated, then moved one foot inside the cave. With great apprehension, he planted his foot down. Nothing happened. He let out a deep sigh of relief, and started his trek down again. Then another roar split the air like thunder. He screamed and turned back, but the lion's mouth slammed shut and the dune began to collapse. Soon all that was left was Relena, Dorothy, and the two halves of the medallion, which rolled slowly down the sand of the dune.

"Seek thee out, the diamond in the rough..." said the lion's fading voice as it disappeared.

Dorothy unburied herself from the sand, coughing as she did.

"I can't believe it. I just don't believe it," she complained. "We're never gonna get a hold of that stupid lamp! Just forget it. Look at this. Look at this. I'm so ticked off that I'm losing hair!"

She held up a handful of long strands to prove her point as she walked over to Relena.

"Patience, Dorothy. Patience. Gazeem was obviously less than worthy," she said calmly.

"Oh, there's a big surprise!" shouted Dorothy, voice dripping with sarcasm. "That's an incred--I think I'm gonna have a heart attack and die from not surprise! What're we gonna do? We got a big problem here, a big prob-"

Relena calmly clamped a hand over the other girl's mouth, silencing her.

"Yes...we do," she agreed. "Only one may enter. I must find this one, this...diamond in the rough."

Duo scampered to the edge of a building, holding a loaf of bread in his hand. He almost dropped it in his haste, but managed to catch it just in time, his chestnut braid swinging with his movements.

"Stop, thief!" shouted a guard from behind him. "I'll have your hands for a trophy, street rat!"

Duo looked back at the group of sword wielding guards, then down at the loaf of bread in his hands.

"All this for a loaf of bread?" he asked himself doubtfully, his violet eyes wide.

He shrugged, and threw himself from the rooftop. He landed on two ropes strung between buildings, with drying clothes on them. He skidded down them, collecting bits and pieces of clothing on him as he went.

"Whoa!" he shouted.

Finally, he neared the end of the rope, at a window, when a woman reached out and slammed the shutters closed. Duo slammed into the shutters and fell to the street; his fall broken by numerous awnings and the pile of clothes around him. He pulled off the top layer of clothes and was about to enjoy his bread when...

"There he is!" shouted one guard from above.

"You won't get away so easy!" shouted another.

"You think that was easy?" Duo asked, grinning.

He turned to see three women laughing at him.

"You two, over that way, and you, with me. We'll find him," growled the leader of the guards as they reached the ground.

Duo quickly pulled a sheet over himself as a disguise, rushing over to the women.

"Morning ladies," he said charmingly.

"Getting into trouble a little early today, aren't we Duo?" asked one of them, and all of them laughed.

"Trouble? No way!" he answered, grinning. "You're only in trouble if you get caught--"

A hand grabbed his shoulder, yanking him out of the sheet. The big, hulking guard held him up by his vest.

"I'm in trouble!" Duo shouted.

"And this time," started the guard.

Suddenly, he dropped Duo to the ground as his turban was pulled over his eyes. Duo looked up to see a boy with Prussian blue eyes and messy brown hair jumping off the man's back.

"Perfect timing Heero!" he said happily, getting quickly to his feet.

"No problem," answered Heero.

"Come on, let's get out of here," said Duo, grabbing his hand and running.

"Gotta keep...one jump ahead of the breadline," he sang to himself as he ran, Heero looking at him strangely as he did. "One swing ahead of the sword. I steal only what I can't afford... That's everything!"

Duo battled a guard, who was wielding a sword. The guard tried to grab his braid, but Duo got out of the way in time. He dodged a couple of swings, then pulled the belt off the guard's pants, which dropped to the ground to reveal white boxers with little red hearts. Duo let out a hoot of laughter at the sight. Heero blew a raspberry at the guard, then dodged an attack. The guard swung at Duo, but destroyed a barrel of fish instead, spilling the contents all over the ground. As Duo ran off, the guard pulled a fish over his lower body as a pair of pants.

"One jump ahead of the lawmen," continued Duo in a singsong voice. "That's all, and that's no joke. These guys don't appreciate I'm broke!"

Duo and Heero scampered up a pile of barrels, the Duo kicked one down onto another guard's head. It broke open, leaving all the guards covered in sticky goo. Then he jumped onto a high platform.

"Riffraff! Street rat! Scoundrel! Take that!" shouted all the guards, throwing various things at the boy.

Duo hung over the side of platform, waving the bread.

"Just a little snack, guys!"

The guards started to shake the platform, trying to knock him off.

"Rip him open, take it back guys!" shouted one of the guards.

"I can take a hint, gotta face the facts. You're my only friend, Heero!" said Duo as he swung into an open window, Heero following. As it turns out, it was a harem, full of women in revealing silk clothing.

"Oh, it's sad Duo's hit the bottom. He's become a one-man rise in crime!" sang the girls, giggling and dancing enticingly in front of the two boys, one wrapping a silk scarf around Duo.

Duo pulled himself to his feet, running into a robust woman on his way out.

"I'd blame parents, except he hasn't got em," she said disapprovingly.

"Gotta eat to live, gotta steal to eat," shrugged Duo. "Tell you all about it when I got the time!"

Duo and Heero rushed off, with the guards hot in pursuit. Duo kept singing to taunt them all along the way, making them more and more angry. The guards followed them all the way up into an empty building, where he and Heero skidded to a halt in front of a gaping window. Duo snatched up a carpet from the ground.

"Here goes, better throw my hand in, wish me happy landin'... All I gotta do is jump!" Duo grabbed Heero, and both of them leapt out of the window. The carpet gave them a little distance, but the frenzied guards (who had followed them) went straight down, landing in a huge wagon of dung.

Using the carpet as a parachute, the two boys made it to the ground safely.

"And now, esteemed effendi, we feast!" Duo said happily to Heero. "All right!"

He broke the bread in half, handing one half to his sullen partner.

"Thanks Duo," grunted Heero.

"No problem," answered Duo, grinning. "Any time."

He was about to take a bite of the bread, then heard a sound. He looked into the alley in front of him and saw a girl and her brother digging through garbage for food. He felt a sting of pity. He pulled himself to his feet, walking over to them. The girl tried to hide her brother behind her.

"Here you go," Duo said softly, offering his bread. "Go on, take it."

The girl hesitantly reached forward, but once she had the bread, her and her brother began to eat happily. She gave Duo a smile of appreciation, and he felt his heart swell.

Duo suddenly heard the sound of trumpets, and he turned around with interest to follow the sound. He walked out into the daylight, Heero following cautiously. He sees a haughty looking woman on a white horse, heading towards the palace gates.

"On her way to the palace, I suppose," said one commoner to the man beside him.

"Another suitor for Prince Quatre," said another sarcastically.

Duo was startled as the two children come running out from the alley. The boy, his sister trying to pull him back, ran right in front of the princess' horse, startling it.

"Get out of my way, filthy brats!" she shrieked, pulling out her whip to punish them.

"Hey!" shouted Duo, jumping in front to take the hit of the whip. The long tail of leather wrapped around his arm, and he jerked it away from the princess. Heero started forward to pull him away before he got himself into more trouble.

"Hey, if I were as rich as you, I could afford some manners!" Duo taunted, flinging the whip back in her face.

"I'll teach you manners!" she huffed, and with that, kicked him and Heero into a mud muddle. The crowd started to laugh.

"Would you look at that, Heero," said Duo scathingly, wiping mud from his face. "It's not every day you see a horse with two rear ends!"

The horse snorted, as if offended, and the Princess turned back to Duo.

"You are a worthless street rat," she hissed. "You were born a street rat, you'll die a street rat, and only your fleas will mourn you!"

Duo jerked to his feet and started after her, but the great wooden doors slammed in his face. He looked up at how high they were, then down at the ground.

"I'm not worthless. And I don't have fleas," he grumbled, running a hand through his chestnut bangs to prove it. Then he sighed in defeat. Come on, Heero...Let's go home."

Heero nodded, pained at the defeated, sorrowed look on his partner's face. They slowly made his way to their home, an abandoned old building.

"Riffraff, street rat. I don't buy that. If only they'd look closer," Duo sang sadly to himself. "Would they see a poor boy? No siree. They'd find out, there's so much more to me..."

He pulled back the ragged, torn curtain to reveal a beautiful view of the castle.

"Someday, Heero, things are gonna change. We'll be rich, live in a palace, and never have any problems at all..."

He sighed, sitting down on a pile of soft pillows and looking out at the palace. He jumped when he felt strong arms wrap around his waist, but calmed when he realised who it was.

"Hey, don't look so sad," said Heero softly, resting his head on Duo's shoulder.

Duo closed his eyes, leaning back against Heero's muscled chest. He felt Heero's lips brush his throat, and he moaned softly.

The Prussian eyed boy slowly made his way to Duo's lap, mouth and tongue gently exploring the boy's throat. Knowing hands slowly crept up Duo's chest, bringing a small hiss of pleasure when they brushed over his nipples.

Heero pushed Duo's vest off his shoulders and down his arms, discarding it beside them. He traced the tip of his tongue down Duo's collarbone, then slowly down his chest. His mouth covered one nipple, sucking gently, and another soft moan slipped from Duo's lips.

"Heero, maybe we shouldn't…ah, mmm…" Duo's words melted into a groan as he felt a hand slip down the front of his loose white pants, fingers wrapping around his arousal.

"Shh…" Heero shushed the boy, then started to drag his tongue down the line of Duo's muscled stomach, leaving a damp trail down his abs. He tongue traced Duo's naval, then thrust inside, a promise of what was to come. At the same time, he squeezed Duo gently, caressing the soft skin. The boy whimpered with expectance.

Heero released him, bringing another whimper from Duo, this time of disappointment. But Heero didn't keep him waiting long. He curled his fingers under the top of Duo's pants, dragging them down and off. He paused for a few seconds, long enough to strip off his own ragged clothes. He felt blood rush to his groin as he watched Duo, whose breath was harsh and eyes were closed with anticipation.

Heero went forward again, pressing his body against Duo's. As he claimed the boy's mouth in a passionate kiss, his hands went around his back to unbraided Duo's long hair. It fell in long chestnut waves down his back, and Heero wove his fingers into it, pulling Duo closer to him. He pressed his arousal against Duo's, bringing a deep-throated groan from both of them. He pulled away from the kiss and attacked Duo's throat again with renewed fervour. He lifted one hand, pressing his fingertips lightly against Duo's lips. The braided boy pulled them into his mouth, tongue swirling around Heero's digits. After a moment, Heero pulled away his hand, fingers lightly coated in saliva. Duo's faint whimper soon turned to a loud moan as the dark haired boy gently probed his index finger his secret entrance, gradually sliding it all the way in and beginning a slow, continual thrust. Then, as he felt the tensed ring of muscle slowly started to relax, he added a second finger, then a third, stretching his lover.

"Oh god Heero!" Duo moaned as Heero's fingers brushed the cluster of nerves deep in Duo's body that made white sparks of pleasure dance in front of his eyes.

Heero felt an almost painful swell in his groin, and he couldn't wait any longer. He removed his fingers from Duo's body, he went forward as slowly as he could bear, pressing the head of his member against Duo's entrance. Duo groaned and tried to thrust against Heero, but the other boy held him still with both hands on his hips. He didn't want to hurt the boy.

Duo gasped as he felt Heero slowly fill him. The dark haired boy started to rock slowly back and forth.

"Faster, Heero," Duo begged, pushing himself against his lover.

Heero obliged, quickening the pace. He readjusted his position so that each thrust hit Duo's pleasure spot. The braided boy was meeting him at every thrust, each crash of their bodied bringing a cry of ecstasy from him.

Heero wrapped his fingers around Duo's member, pumping in time with their thrusts.

Finally, one hard thrust sent Duo over the edge, and crying his lover's name, his essence covered both their stomachs.

The tightening of Duo's muscles was soon enough to send Heero the way of his lover with a loud cry of pleasure. Duo felt Heero's seed fill him, and he felt the boy collapse on him.

Both boys were breathing hard, drenched in sweat. Heero lay stretched out over Duo, exhausted.

"Feeling better now?" he breathed to the braided boy.

"Definitely…"answered Duo, eyes flickering closed.
