Am I Mad?
by Megkazul

"Omae o korosu."

Relena blinked, stunned. That soldier, *her* soldier, would kill her? She stared at Heero's back as he walked slowly away. //Why? Why would he want to kill me?// She was left with no alternative but to follow him and find out.

She kept a close eye on him for the rest of the day, making sure he was always at the edge of her vision. When night fell, he retreated to a secluded area deep in the heart of the city. She kept to the shadows and followed him the entire way. Heero slipped into a warehouse. Relena peered inside, and saw evidence that someone had been living there; a makeshift bed in one corner, bundles of supplies lying nearby, and an strangely shaped pile hidden by a black tarp. She knew instantly what it was. Weapons; the bloody tools that had been used to kill her father and so many others.

She stepped out of the shadows and entered the warehouse, letting her shoes slap against the stone floor. Their echo pierced the silence, each resounding footstep announcing her presence.

Heero whirled and drew his gun, aiming it at the form silhouetted in the doorway behind him. It was a woman. Her soft eyes narrowed in hatred at the sight of the gun. She walk forward purposefully, closing the distance between them until the barrel of Heero's gun rested on her bosom. His eyes widened as she came closer. //Relena!// He stepped backward. She continued to come closer until Heero had to raise the gun to her neck, there not being enough room between them for his gun to threaten her chest. She was breathing heavily, not the least bit intimidated by the gun barrel at her windpipe. He wished she wouldn't do that; it was difficult to focus with her heaving chest pressed against his.

Relena was furious. //How dare he aim that weapon at me?!// It wasn't the idea of being killed that bothered her, but that he would have the audacity to point such a thing at *her.* Not after what she'd done for him...

~...* flashback *...~

"Heero! What are you going to do with those missiles?"

"Go away. It's none of your business."

"But Heero!" Relena placed a hand on his shoulder, trying desperately to get his attention. She succeeded.

Heero turned and glared at Relena, not wanting to deal with her now. He drew a gun and shoved her backward with it, cocking it as he opened his mouth to explain his purpose. He was cut off by a loud gunshot. Expertly aimed, it knocked Heero's gun right out of his hand. His head jerked up to view his attacker. Two blue violet eyes glared at him challengingly.

Duo wasted no time; he aimed for the boy's chest and shot. It was disgusting the way some people handled their guns. You should *never* threaten an unarmed civilian.

Heero, having some warning this time, managed to dodge, but not well enough. He fell to his knees, clutching his injured arm. He had been careless.

"What do you want to kill him for?!"

Heero looked up, stunned, to see Relena standing over him, arms spread wide to shield him.

Duo was just as surprised as Heero; never in all his days of fighting had anyone spoken to him like that. This girl was completely unfazed.

Relena, seeing their attacker immobilized, dropped to her knees and began tending to Heero's wound.

Heero stared at Relena, having trouble believing what she had just done.

"Ari... arigato, Relena."

~...* end flashback *...~

He had no right to point that weapon at her. She had saved his life. Didn't that mean *anything* to him? Relena glared at him until she saw fear radiating from Heero's beautiful cobalt eyes. //I ought to fix that.// Despite the gun, she loved Heero and didn't want him to fear her. She repressed her fury and met his mouth with her tongue. Heero didn't resist and she pressed closer, trapping his arm between them. For some reason the feel of his arm between her breasts felt incredibly good; she didn't care that it was there only to hold the gun to her throat. She began to explore his mouth, swallowing involuntarily as Heero's gun dug into her neck.

Heero found himself responding to this leech's sweet kiss, and felt Relena's soft hands slipping around his waist, her sharp fingernails digging into his flesh possessively. His breath caught and he recalled his tongue, hissing into her mouth as her claws captured the flesh below his ribcage. He used his free arm to push her away, wincing as her nails dug trenches in his side.

"Relena, please, go away."

"I will *not* go away. Every time I leave you alone, you disappear. I don't want to lose you again."

Heero gestured with the gun, "Go away or I shoot."

Relena's eyes blazed with renewed fury. She curled her hands into fists and shut her eyes, trying to calm down. //1... 2... 3... 4... // But 10 was too far off, and she was to impatient to wait for it. Relena opened her eyes, gave Heero a piercing glare, and punched him.

Heero dropped the gun and staggered backward, eyes wide. His cheek throbbed with pain. Relena had a great right hook. He watched her leave and sighed with resignation, knowing she'd be back the next night. //Relena is so annoying! Almost as annoying as that Duo character...// He blinked and shook head as a nasty thought crossed his mind. //That would get rid of both of them... but only as a last resort.//

***

Unfortunately, Relena, with her infinite wrath, was adept at driving both men *and* women mad. It wasn't long before Heero was ready to try his insane plan.

***

Relena was following Heero again tonight, her curiosity renewed by his odd mood. Heero walked slowly, his steps falling to the pavement at irregular intervals. He seemed to be dreading something, and besides that, he was going in the wrong direction.

Heero nerved himself and entered a small, nondescript building where he knew Duo to be hanging out.

Duo smiled warmly at the sight of his friend, "Hey Heero, what's up?"

Heero greeted him with the usual blank stare.

Relena watched from somewhere nearby, wondering what business Heero had with that disgusting jerk that had tried to kill *her* soldier.

Heero stroked the handle of his gun as he approached Duo, making sure to keep it out of Relena's line of sight. He grabbed Duo around the shoulders and stabbed his gun into the boy's gut.

"Play along or die," he whispered, then began to kiss Duo.

Duo's first instinct told him to reel backward and spit curses into Heero's mouth, but an encouraging jab from the gun helped him decide against that particular tactic. He decided to play along.

Duo was a surprisingly good actor. The only evidence Heero had that he wasn't enjoying himself was the fact that Duo's teeth were buried in his tongue.

Relena, predictably, freaked. She leapt out of her hiding spot and grabbed one of Duo's guns, which he had carelessly left lying on the ground. She cocked it and pointed it at Duo's temple.

"Get away from him!"

Heero, worried that the boy would obey, held Duo tighter, pushing both himself and his gun (which Relena still didn't know about) closer to the other boy.

Duo was extremely relieved when he realized Heero was impotent, but he knew that would be a problem if Relena ever got them apart. He saw the agitation in Heero's cobalt eyes and almost felt sorry for him. Having Relena as a stalker must be hell. He carefully spit Heero's bloody tongue out of his mouth so that Relena wouldn't see the blood. Heero noticeably relaxed, but made sure to jab Duo with the gun again, reminding him not to collaborate with Relena. There was no danger of that; Duo didn't want to have anything to do with a woman that had driven Heero to shounen ai.

"Can't you see we're busy?"

Relena's mind was a war zone. One part of her desperately wanted to kill Duo, but the rest of her protested, saying this was against all her morals. Her finger tightened around the trigger.

"Wait a second! Don't be hasty now! You don't really want to kill me, do you?" Duo put on his most innocent face and looked at Relena pleadingly.

Heero began nibbling on Duo's neck.

The gun fell from Relena's hand and clattered to the ground. She stared at Heero for a second, her eyes wet with unshed tears. She ran out the door, and quickly disappeared into the shadows of the night.

When she was gone, Duo said something that should not be repeated and flung Heero to the ground.

Heero smirked, blood trailing from one side of his mouth.

Duo glared at him, "You're sick, Man."

***

Relena ran blindly through the darkness, her eyes obstructed by tears. Before long, she was hopelessly lost. She slumped down against a wall and cried silently to herself, wondering why she had ever bothered to love Heero.

Lady Une looked down at the pitiful girl before her. It was Relena. Une wasn't sure how she knew the girl's name, but decided they must be old friends. At any rate, the girl certainly looked like she needed a friend right about now.

"Don't cry."

Relena raised her head at the sound of another human. She blinked and tried to focus, but all she could see through her tears was darkness, an immense black hole. In fact, a cute little golden spaceship was burning its engines away, trying desperately, and, in her opinion, failing, to escape its gravitational pull.

"Hey, are you alright?"

Again Relena blinked, and this time she succeeded in clearing her vision somewhat. The tiny spaceship reformed and became a tiny golden ball, a pendant hanging from a chain. A second later, she recognized the black hole as the cleavage of a particularly well endowed woman. Realizing this, it didn't take her but a second to remember that a woman's face was usually just above her chest and to adjust her gaze accordingly.

To her surprise, she found herself looking into two beautiful light brown eyes. The woman, oddly familiar though Relena had trouble remembering who exactly she was, was obviously friendly, and Relena came to the same conclusion Une had: they must be friends.

Relena, not trusting herself to speak, reached upward and pulled the woman down to her.

Une understood this, knowing the girl needed some comfort, and wordlessly wrapped her arms around Relena.

Relena felt herself falling into the woman's embrace and howled. Those comforting arms supporting her the way Heero never did... //Why did he have to do this to me?!// She felt like trash, which wasn't far from the truth. Hadn't Heero just thrown her away? She loosened her grip on the woman and began to fall back into misery.

//No, no, no!// Une saw Relena slipping away, and wondered what exactly had happened to the poor girl. For some reason that still wasn't quite clear in her mind, Une had expected Relena to be a very strong character. Une focused on that thought, trying to find its source, but all that came to mind was a small reddish-colored compact.

"Relena..." Une stroked the girl's cheek gently, trying to get her attention, but she didn't answer, so Une, with strength that she didn't know she had, picked up Relena in her arms and headed back towards the Oz base.

Treize walked back to his private quarters, harboring and immense headache. He wasn't sure how much longer he could hold this army together. His men were constantly breaking ranks to squabble over nothings and each and every one of them was absolutely terrified of those wretched Gundam pilots.

He sighed and pushed open the door, looking forward to a good night's sleep. Treize tried in vain to wipe the exhaustion from his eyes as he removed his coat and placed it on the rack. He looked toward the bathroom and considered taking a shower, but decided against it. All he wanted to do was sleep. He flopped onto the bed, not even bothering to undress. A moment later he raised his head and looked at the form next to him; something about her nagged at him.

"Une? Une, wake up."

Une rolled over and smiled at Treize.

Treize smiled back, then did a double-take as he realized there were *two* women in the bed.

"Une, where did she come from?" Treize gestured toward the pale haired girl sleeping between them.

Une looked at Relena, a worried expression on her face, "I found her just outside the grounds. She looked lonely, so I picked her up and brought her inside. By the time I got here, she was asleep; I didn't have any choice but to put her in the bed."

"Fine," Treize was too tired to argue, if Une wanted a pet street mouse, she could have it, at least for now.

They slept.

***

Treize, after having gotten a good night's sleep, opened his eyes and sat up on the bed. In the waxing predawn light he could see the intertwined forms of his mate and her pet. He smiled at the serene looks on their faces. It was cute the way Une slept huddled close to the other form. Too bad it wasn't him... He glared at the sleeping woman next to Une, feeling a momentary pang of jealousy. He shook the thought away and headed for the bathroom, intending to take a shower.

Treize shed his clothing rather quickly, and cursed as he realized he'd forgotten something. He went back into the bedroom and grabbed Une around the waist and pulled her off the bed. He wasn't about to take shower without his top officer.

Une felt herself being carried by two strong, bare arms. She opened her eyes and looked up at Treize, smiling groggily at him.

Treize carried Une into the bathroom, marveling at the unnatural adoration in her lovely brown eyes. He set her down, and together they worked on removing her clothing.

***

Meanwhile, Relena continued to sleep.

***

Treize and Une emerged from the bathroom, each with a towel wrapped around their waist. Une was glued to Treize's side, nuzzling him as if she were a lonely kitten. Treize bent his head down and kissed her lips briefly. //I wish she wouldn't do this for me...//

Une dashed away from Treize and headed for the closet. A second later she was back with Treize's uniform. He stared at her, looking somewhat dumbfounded as she put on his shirt and coat. She had barely placed it on his shoulders before reaching down to snatch his towel away.

Treize winced and cursed at the sudden draft, "Shimatta!"

Une smiled and continued. Before long, she had him completely dressed and was shoving him out the door. Treize offered little resistance, until his eyes fell upon the bed. //I'd completely forgotten about her!//

"Une," he waved toward the sleeping street mouse, "You'd best do something with her."

"Of course," she gave him one final push and he left, heading toward his men and, more importantly, the mess hall.

Une dressed and looked in the mirror, shuddering. The beautiful deep red of her uniform complemented her eyes perfectly, making them look... inhuman. She turned away and called her servants, some nice young officers that seemed to like playing with her hair. They arrived shortly.

"Lady Une?" a man in a black uniform poked his head through the door.

"Come in."

"Yessir."

He entered, with two men trailing him, a blond and a brunet, one at each flank.

Une smiled warmly and nodded toward Relena.

"Get her some clothes."

The first man continued toward Lady Une and began to work on her hair.

The two remaining soldiers looked at each other, puzzeled. //Get her some clothes?// The woman on the bed was bedraggled, but lovely. She obviously came from a good family... They wonder what she'd say to being decked out in an army uniform.

"Ah, well..." the blond trailed off, grinning. //It's certainly not the worst assignment we've been given.//

The blacked haired one nodded, "Let's get her up then."

The blond stepped over to the bed and picked up the girl in his arms. Her eyes fluttered open at his touch, and she raised her head to find his face, gazing sadly into his eyes. //Her eyes...// He turned away quickly, not liking the uneasy feeling she gave him.

Relena frowned. //It doesn't matter... why should he look at me?// She fought the pain in her heart as she remembered Heero's cold eyes. //Always staring at me...//

He lowered her feet to the ground and stood behind the girl, supporting her. She didn't seem inclined to do much on her own.

Relena leaned against the blond boy. She really didn't care if they dressed her; she had had servants dress her many times in the past. Did it really matter that these were males rather than the usual handmaidens?

The black haired man moved around to the girl's front. He looked down and paled, taking note of the long line of buttons that ran down the front of the girl's dress, continuing all the way to the bottom of her skirt. He started at the top, studying the girl's eyes carefully as his fingers fumbled with the buttons on her chest. He needn't have worried; her eyes remained glazed the entire time, never taking offense. One by one, he unbuttoned the buttons, going down her torso and lower, eventually kneeling to get the lower ones. He undid the final one and the dress opened completely, sliding off her shoulders and falling down, until it landed on the blond man's arms.

The blond guy looked at it, confused. He didn't know how to get rid of it without letting go of the woman, which was out of the question. She was clothed only in undergarments now; he wasn't about to release her.

The blacked haired man smiled, pleased that he had finally gotten through all those damned buttons. He dug through a pile of clothes and found a pair of 32s that would probably fit the girl. //Now how to get them on her...?// Feeling somewhat ridiculous, he lifted the girl's legs into the pants while the blond soldier did his best to support her. After a few long minutes, they had her standing up straight, the blond reaching around her waist to fasten the pants, not bothering to avert his eyes this time; he needed to see over her shoulder to be able to direct his hands. She certainly didn't seem to mind him looking down her front, and it wasn't her breasts he was afraid of anyway, it was her eyes.

Next it was time for the coat. It would be easy compared to the pants. They placed it on her shoulders and buttoned all the buttons on the front, plus two on each cuff. Now all they needed was the finishing touches; black boots and a belt, complete with gun sheath. She flinched when they put that on, which surprised him, but there wasn't much to be done about it; the gun came with the uniform.

Relena examined her outfit, running her hands along the soft black fabric of the coat, then down farther, past a strong leather belt... her right hand found the handle of the gun, while her left slipped into a pocket. //A pocket?// Relena blinked and looked down at her legs, which were well displayed by the overly tight pants. //No skirt...! In fact...// She looked to the corner of her eye and smiled as she spied the lower half of one of the men that had dressed her. //They've got nice legs too.//

Meanwhile, the man doing Lady Une's hair was just about finished. He tied up the last strand and turned around. He frowned at the sight of Relena standing before him.

"No, no, that's against regulations. You're hair is too long."

Relena glared at him and opened her mouth to protest, but stopped when she caught sight of Lady Une's reflection in the mirror. //She...!! My father...// She momentarily forgot the soldier as the scene replayed itself in her mind.

~...* flashback *...~

Lady Une was standing outside a building, with a small group of soldiers about her. Inside the building was Relena's father, a politician, talking to other politicians. Relena had exited the building in search of Lady Une. The poor woman had forgotten her compact. Of course Relena *had* to return it. She walked up to Une and presented it.

Lady Une's face went white. She snatched the compact from Relena's hand and cocked her arm back to hurl the compact up into a room on one of the upper floors of the building. The room where Relena's father was.

Relena gaped in shock as the compact broke through the glass of the window and the shards fell outward, propelled by the immense ball of fire that had suddenly erupted in the room.

~...* end flashback *...~

That woman! That woman that had been so kind to her the night before was Oz's Lady Une. By the time Relena remembered the hairdo soldier, he had already bound up her beautiful hair in a horrid ponytail. No big loss; right now Relena had more important things to think of.

Une turned around to face the four soldiers, all of whom immediately stood at attention under her gaze. Une frowned at them disapprovingly.

"You are dismissed. Leave at once!"

Three of the soldiers hastily made for the door. The fourth turned his head down and glared at the floor as if it had killed his mother, then walked slowly away. Une didn't give him a second thought. She put on her glasses and headed out to her men.

***

Relena found herself surrounded by hundreds of uniformed Oz soldiers. They had all been gathering in this huge room. She had quickly found out where they were going. It hadn't been too hard; every other place on the base was deserted except for a few scattered sentries.

Lady Une stood above the assemblage, waiting for the last of the soldiers to arrive. At the appointed time, all of the black clad soldiers turned their heads toward her expectantly.

"Alright men. Production has gone smoothly with only a few... minor... delays. It's our job to see that the new mobile suits get here safely. The enemy is very thinly spread. In fact," she paused as diagrams of 01 and 02 flashed onto the screen, "to our knowledge, there are only two enemy soldiers in the area."

"They are not, however, to be underestimated. Those of you that have met them in battle and lived," she stopped and glared at the soldiers, knowing that only shameless cowards had run fast enough to escape the ruthless Gundams, "know how dangerous they are."

"When night falls, we sha..." Une's voice was cut off as another voice rose to oppose her.

"Lady Une!"

She searched the crowd until her eyes fell upon a young paled haired soldier. The same... boy? that had acted so strangely earlier that day.

"You're out of ranks, soldier!"

"I know the two pilots you speak of. I know where they sleep at night."

Une's eyes widened incredulously. She studied the bold soldier for a second.

//Relena// A vague memory of the night before came back to her, "Alright soldier. Guide us to our prey."

Relena smiled and saluted, "Yessir."

***

Duo heard footsteps outside. He grabbed a gun and went to the door.

"Lady Une, what brings you here tonight?" he cocked his gun and pointed it at her, his eyes sweeping over her squadron of footsoldiers.

"You're under arrest," she made a small movement with her hands and the men behind her spread out.

"Right..." Duo looked behind him, into the building where he had a good stockpile of weapons and an open escape route straight to his concealed mobile suit. //Poor dupes aren't used to fighting in the city. They don't realize how many egresses there are, and how easy it is to hide.//

But it seemed one of Lady Une's soldiers wasn't completely incompetent. Relena had entered the building from the other side while Une was distracted with Duo. Fortunately, Relena had no quarrels about shooting a boy in the back while he had his gun trained on Une. At least not when that boy was Duo. She fired.

Relena went deaf for a moment as the sound of a gunshot echoed in her ears. The sound did nothing to impede her sight however, and she saw the form in the doorway fall forward. Blood seeped from just below his shoulder. //So my aim needs some work; it still got the job done.//

Deaf and half-blind with pain and fury, Duo lay on his stomach in front of Lady Une. He tried to remain focused and kept his gun trained on her while his eyes searched for the one that had shot him.

Relena stepped toward the prone form, glaring down at him with the utmost hatred in her eyes. As she approached, he swung his gun from Une to her.

Duo's shoulder hurt like hell, but he summoned up the strength to fire at the soldier behind him, missing the first time and grazing the soldier's side with the second shot. The soldier didn't even flinch as his flesh was cut open. He had a smile on his face and vengeance in his eyes. With a start, he realized the soldier was Relena, Heero's merciless stalker. //Heero...// Duo winced at the name.

Relena gave the injured boy a violent kick, throwing him against Lady Une's boots.

//Damn, I'm fucked.// If he resisted now, he'd be killed on the spot.

Lady Une looked down at the fallen form before her, then towards the angry soldier in the doorway.

"You are under *my* command, soldier."

Relena glared at Une for a second, then mollified as she realized they still needed to get Heero. She hadn't seen him here, hopefully he was at his little warehouse and not somewhere nearby, waiting to kill them all.

"Gomen, Lady Une," Relena smiled warmly.

Lady Une didn't return the smile. She gestured toward the bloody boy on the ground, who had been lying remarkably still. At least he knew not to agitate her.

"Gag and cuff him. He'll help us get the other one."

Two of her soldiers lifted Duo off the ground and cuffed his hands behind his back. Then they tied the gag around his mouth.

Duo struggled in vain against the soldiers. He didn't mind being cuffed, but no one was going to gag him! As soon as the cloth touched his tongue he tried to push it away and failing that, he began chewing on it, determined to free his mouth.

A particularly strong soldier grabbed Duo and threw him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Duo winced, wishing the man had remembered to be careful; he was a sack of easily bruisable overripe potatoes. He glared at the man's back before continuing his gag-chewing. //I hope the bloodstains never come out of that uniform!//

Relena moved to Lady Une's side and acted as a navigator for the group, leading them through the dark streets to the place where she had found Heero so many times before.

"That's it," Relena pointed across the street at the warehouse.

Lady Une addressed her men, "Spread out. Don't enter the building until we have it surrounded.."

She glanced toward the soldier with their prisoner, "Set him down."

Duo felt himself being placed on the ground. //It's nice to be right side up again.// He glared at Lady Une, having nothing better to do at the moment. Une frowned and pulled something out of her pocket. //What's this?// Duo looked up at the tiny golden chain in Lady Une's hand.

Lady Une placed it around his neck, showing him the object hanging from it, "It's a tracking device and a one-way communicator so we can hear the things you do. Not full proof, but enough to keep track one injured soldier."

Duo grunted acknowledgment, not being able to say much with the gag in his mouth.

"Now all we want you to do," Une continued, "is go in there and distract that pilot while we prepare an attack."

//Damn...// He'd already been shot once tonight. Going to Heero wasn't a very appealing prospect. He sighed in resignation.

Lady Une motioned for his captor to escort him to the warehouse. The man picked him up and prepared to do the potato thing again. Duo squirmed, trying to tell the man that he'd rather walk. Didn't work too well, though; by the time they were across the street, the man was so sick of Duo that he just tossed the boy right through the doorway, not caring how hard his landing was.

//Ow...// Duo struggled to his knees and looked around. Heero had certainly been here. //But where is he...?//

Heero approached the intruder from behind and lifted him by the collar.

//Stupid question; of course he'd be behind me.// Duo fought against the gag, trying to speak, but only succeeding in an alarmed squeal.

Heero repressed his amusement and frowned. He looked at Duo questioningly. //Never thought I'd see him so thoroughly defeated.//

Duo growled.

//And gagged too. Nice touch.// Heero loosened the gag enough to allow Duo to speak, "Who...?"

Duo's eyes hardened, "Relena..." he spoke the name as if it were a curse and glared at Heero, knowing this was all his fault.

"Rel...?"

"That's right, Relena... Do you have any idea how much trouble you've caused me?!" Duo kneed Heero in the groin. Then they both fell to the ground, Duo because Heero wasn't holding him anymore and Heero because he didn't feel like standing at the moment.

//Dammit!// Heero pounced on Duo and grabbed his neck, ready to strangle him to death.

Lady Une laughed, "Great work, he's certainly distracted!"

Heero spun around, to find himself face to muzzle with Lady Une's gun.

Duo looked in the other direction and sighed as he spotted Relena and a small squadron of Une's men also pointing guns at them.

Duo looked at Heero, "Now can you let go of my neck?"

Heero turned back to Duo and dug his fingers into the boy's neck, still intent on strangling him.

Lady Une kicked Heero with force enough to match Relena, hurling him onto his back a few feet from Duo. She placed her foot on the boy's stomach, holding him down and hopefully causing him some pain.

"No one kills my prisoners without first consulting me!"

Heero just glared at her.

Duo looked at Relena meaningfully, "You hear that? Nobody kills me with her permission!"

Relena frowned and sheathed her gun.

Duo grinned, managing to mask the pain in his eyes long enough to look truly happy.

Relena and Heero both glared at him, looking furious.

"Alright, Relena," Lady Une kicked Heero once more, "bind this one. We're going back to the base."

Relena knelt down over Heero and rolled him over onto his stomach. She grabbed his wrists in one hand and a took a pair of cuffs from her belt with the other. She cuffed him but didn't bother to gag him; Heero never talked much anyway. She buried the muzzle of her gun into his side and helped him up, wincing as the extra weight reminded her of the wound at her side.

Duo shrank back from the big guy that had been carrying him and looked at Une pleadingly, "I can walk...!"

Une frowned, knowing he could never make it back to the base without help. She gave Duo a piercing glare and nodded, aiming her gun at the boy's chest.

"Walk."

Duo struggled to his feet and focused all his energy on walking. The rest of the soldiers followed suit.

***

Relena hung at the back of the group, taking her time with Heero.

"Your boyfriend isn't doing so good."

Heero glanced at Duo, who was stumbling frequently as he walked. It was obviously hard for him to stand, much less move.

"He was never important to me."

"Neither was I," Relena shoved the gun barrel into Heero's back angrily.

Heero winced, "You were brave enough to uphold peace while I went out and killed..."

Relena laughed, her mirth crisp and icy, "I *shot* him."

Heero remained silent for a second and then asked the question on his mind, "Why?"

"Because you chose him over me."

//He was so angry at me... said I'd caused him a lot of trouble.// Heero thought back, remembering the fury in Duo's eyes and the pain in his voice.

"He didn't have to kick me so hard..."

Relena blinked, "Nani?"

"Huh?" Heero backed up, realizing he'd made a mistake, "Gomen; typo. I meant 'kiss.' Duo's got a vicious kiss."

Relena looked at him skeptically, "Exactly what did you two do after I left...?"

Heero bit his lip and fought a blush as he saw where her train of thought was heading.

Relena gazed at Heero, somewhat disappointed when he didn't respond. He was no fun. She studied Duo intently.

"I'll have to try him sometime and find out..."

"Nani!?!" //Try him?! Es loca!//

Relena feigned surprise, "Jealous?"

"Hn."

"Of whom?" Relena was genuinely interested; she wanted to know why the prospect alarmed him so.

//Why do I care if they get together...? Duo, Relena... I loved neither.// He closed his eyes and walked silently, letting Relena lead him.

***

Duo felt his world growing darker. His feet were getting harder to control. Once again he stumbled, but this time he didn't catch himself. His consciousness slipped away...

Duo landed with a soft *thud* on the pavement. //It's about time!// Lady Une was amazed that he had lasted so long. She hadn't expected such endurance. She knelt and picked him up, cradling him in her arms.

The nearest soldier blinked in surprise. Lady Une had never been that kind to *him.* //Oh well,// he dismissed the thought and they continued on their way.

***

Lady Une shoved Duo into the capable hands of two of her officers.

"Take him to sick bay."

They looked down at the limp boy in their arms in surprise. One of them raised his head to meet Lady Une's eyes.

"Yessir," he nodded and they went off, carrying their wounded foe.

The nurse cleaned Duo's wounds with some hydrogen peroxide, noting that he didn't even flinch when she poured the stinging liquid over his wound. //The poor boy is out cold.// She wrapped him up in bandages and let him sleep.

After awhile Duo awoke, somewhat refreshed and looked around in alarm. He was in a big white room. He tensed, automatically putting up his defenses and preparing for battle. Open spaces made him nervous, especially white ones. He had nowhere to hide, that color was everywhere, making a mockery of his protective darkness. //Wait a sec... Where'd my shirt go?// Somebody had removed his black shirt and replaced it with a bunch of white stuff. Strips of cotton bandaging... His hand went to his side and he cursed as he realized there was no gun there.

The nurse was instantly upon him. She placed a hand on his chest and pushed him down. Duo slammed back onto the doctor-bed and looked up at the nurse, surprised at her strength. She leaned over and glared at him.

"Stay down."

Duo just stared at her, liking the way she burst out of her medic uniform.

"Good boy," she reached down with her free hand and pushed a button on the com in her pocket.

Two guards responded to her call. They walked to either side of Duo, grabbed his arms, and hauled him off the bed and out the door.

"Careful! Not so hard guys, that hurts."

"Shaddup."

"Ow, no. At least tell me where we're going."

"To your cell."

"Ooh!" Duo brightened, "I get my own cell?"

"That's right kid," the soldier sounded amused.

"Your own cell," they arrived at a door and he began to unlock it, "and your own cellmate." He opened the door and the other soldier tossed Duo inside.

Duo stood up and turned toward the door, just in time to see it close, cutting off all light. He heard a soft *click* as it locked. Duo stared at it for a second, listening as the soldiers walked away, leaving him alone... Well, not precisely alone, he strained his ears and picked up the sound of someone breathing. He listened, finding the pattern familiar. Duo let himself breathe, tasting the air carefully. //Yes...// He recognized the scent too. He was sharing the cell with Heero.

"Damn faggot," Duo walked in the other direction until he found a wall, then slumped down, leaning against it. He heard footsteps approaching and stared at the darkness where each footstep sounded. Eventually Duo was staring at a spot just inches from where he sat.

"What do you want?"

From somewhere above him, Heero's voice answered, "To apologize."

Duo stared at the darkness around Heero's feet, not bothering to look up, "For what?"

"Getting you shot."

"Fine. Apology accepted."

Heero's footsteps once again sounded on the floor, this time going farther away from him.

"Fuckin fag."

Heero's shoe scrapped on the floor as he whirled, and the air currents in the room shifted momentarily.

Duo gave his attention to the form in front of him, trying to shake the feeling that Heero was glaring daggers at him.

Heero spoke softly, "You don't really want that, do you?"

Duo didn't say anything, hoping the darkness would hide his fear.

Heero knelt down and placed his hand on Duo's collarbone, feeling the boy stiffen at his touch.

"Dammit Heero..."

Heero slid his hand upward and grabbed Duo's neck warningly.

Duo shut up.

Heero pushed Duo onto the floor and lay on top of him, stroking his neck threateningly.

"This what you want...?" Heero's other hand slid down Duo's torso and began unlatching his pants.

//No...// Duo didn't dare answer aloud while the boy's hand was still around his neck.

Heero yanked Duo's pants off.

Duo gritted his teeth, wishing Heero would stop.

Heero released Duo's neck.

Duo immediately leapt up, trying to scramble away from Heero.

Heero grabbed Duo's leg and pulled him back down, "You're not getting away."

Duo felt something warm enclosing him and looked down at Heero in surprise as he fought a wave of pleasure.

Heero worked on Duo laboriously, stoking the flesh of the boy's thigh gingerly as he did so, wishing he could tear it into so many bloody chunks. Heero's tongue lapped at the hardening member in his mouth, seducing Duo into his clutches. Even so, when Duo came, Heero was caught unprepared and swallowed involuntarily. He sat up and gasped, disgusted, as the warm liquid slid down his throat. He hadn't actually intended to *swallow* it.

Duo lay on his back stared at the ceiling, "I hate you."

Heero followed the sound of Duo's voice, laying back down and finding the boy's mouth. Duo didn't resist and he kissed him gently, letting his tongue explore the other's lips and mouth. He disengaged and let his face hover a centimeter or so above Duo's.

"I hate you too."

"Faggot."

Heero kissed him again. This time Duo responded, promptly biting down on Heero's lip. Heero smiled and bit Duo right back.

"Mm!" Duo rolled over and pinned Heero, then pulled his mouth away from the other boy, "No more kissing; I'm done."

"Alright."

"Good," Duo rolled off of Heero and searched the floor by his feet, looking for his pants. He eventually found them, and put them on as fast as he could in the darkness, worried that Heero might do something before he was safely clothed. He then curled up against the wall and tried to fall asleep.

Heero stayed where Duo had left him, one word echoing through his mind, //Faggot...//

Relena glared at Lady Une accusingly, "You locked up the two prisoners together?!"

Une sipped at her cup of coffee and gazed at Relena calmly, "Yes. Relevance?"

"They..." Relena fought with herself, trying to justify her protest, "They aren't mentally sound, might end up... hurting... each other."

Une kept her face straight and tapped a small device at her ear, "I'm monitoring them audibly; If they try anything, I will hear them."

"You will notify me if anything happens?" Relena looked at Une hopefully.

"Sure soldier."

Relena turned away, deciding that was satisfactory, but Une wasn't done yet.

"Eh, Relena?" Une studied her soldier solemnly, "You don't have any emotional attachment to either of them, do you?"

"No, none at all."

"Good," Une took another sip of her coffee, hiding her smile behind the mug. //She might just make it in the army after all.//

***

//God dammit.// Heero couldn't believe himself. After all that trouble, all that fuss, he actually missed Relena. She had posed a continuing threat to his mission and his life, and he now realized that was what had kept him going. The challenge she presented was magnificent... and he had given all that up, for what?

He was lying on his back on a stone floor, trapped in a dark cell with Duo. He had hated the boy's annoying babble before, and now that he was finally silent, Heero hated him even more. The worthless coward had shut up on command. All he had had to do was take the guy's pants off. He was so easy to manipulate; it wasn't even fun.

Relena had stood alone; she had never let anyone control her. He wondered what kind of pain she would've had to endure to give all that up. The Relena he had known stood out in a crowd, but now she was only one of innumerable faceless soldiers. Just like him. He had no reason to live. His life had completely gone to hell. His only friends were the cold, hard floor and the all-encompassing darkness. He let himself slip into a deep, nightmarish sleep.

He was awakened by a hard, swift kick in the ribs. Duo. //Maybe I can get him to kill me.// His ribs throbbed where the boy had kicked him. //He's certainly prepared to do the job.// He rose to a kneeling position and studied the air in front of him. //Yes, Duo is there.// Heero stood up and walked toward him.

Duo, quite naturally, avoided Heero, but the cell was small and he could only walk so far.

Heero cornered Duo and extended his arm toward the boy, wrapping it around his waist. He opened his mouth into a seemingly friendly smile and leaned toward Duo.

Duo smelt Heero's breath on his face and slipped his tongue into the boy's mouth, kissing him passionately.

"Kuso!" Heero jerked back, astonished.

Duo laughed. "You can dish it out, but you can't take it?"

Heero paled. "Duo, I..."

"You stalked me!! You stalked me like a cat stalking a mouse, and now, when I step into your mouth, you spit me out?!"

"You were just a toy..."

Duo's voice took on a twisted, threatening tone, "Well now I want to play."

"I don't love you. I only wanted to destroy you."

"Of course. You don't love anybody. Not even Relena."

Heero went wide eyed, "Relena..."

"Yes. She loved you. She loved you so much she had to shoot me!"

Duo reached forward and stroked Heero's chest through his tank top, focusing on the spot where the flesh should have been torn, the spot that, on Duo's own body, was bloody and bandaged.

"Her love pierced my skin, tore my flesh, and became a parasite to my body. You hurt her... I can feel her pain; it is my pain now."

"I only wanted to destroy you."

Duo closed his hand over the cloth of Heero's shirt, digging his fingers into the boy's flesh in the process.

"You aren't done yet."

"Soon."

"Yes..." Duo released Heero's shirt and moved his hand upward, caressing the soft skin at the base of Heero's neck.

Heero did the same, bringing his hand up to meet Duo's neck.

Duo reacted automatically, cutting off Heero's air supply.

Heero lifted his hand further, letting his fingertips run over the features of Duo's face.

Duo closed his eyes and froze, relishing that gentle touch, and hating himself for enjoying it.

Heero reached up with his other hand and removed Duo's hand from his neck, leaning over to kiss him. //Good boy...// Heero teased Duo with his tongue, running it over the boy's lip playfully.

Duo opened his mouth and extended his tongue to meet Heero's.

Heero slammed Duo's wound with his fist and felt Duo gasp, taking the air from Heero's mouth into his own lungs.

Duo doubled over and retreated back into the corner, clutching his wound, which had renewed its efforts to cover him in a sheet of crimson blood. It hurt like hell.

***

Relena watched Lady Une from afar, meticulously studying each feature on the woman's stony face, trying to catch some indication of Heero's welfare. It wasn't that she didn't trust her commander, just that Heero was more important than the army's universal Respect for Superior Officers. At last she caught a barely discernible flicker of something as it crossed Lady Une's face. Hardly anything to be concerned about, but it was always the smallest inconsistencies that were most important. Lady Une functioned much like a computer; when there was something wrong, you could always tell by the brief flickering of the screen.

***

Heero kicked Duo in the gut and stood glaring down at him disapprovingly as Duo writhed before him, a sickened groan emitting from the boy's throat.

Heero knelt to make himself equal with the troubled soldier.

"Please, Duo. Kill me."

Heero had a small switchblade hidden in his shoe which had escaped the scrutinizing eyes of the guards. Retrieving it, he now bared its deadly blade and pressed it into the hand of the trembling Duo.

Whether because Duo didn't understand the nature of this gift or because he was reluctant to use it upon Heero, Duo's arm remained limp.

Heero closed Duo's fingers about the handle of the weapon and brought it up to rest upon his own neck.

Now some life came to Duo's arm and he was able to hold the dagger to Heero's neck without further assistance.

Heero, with the saccharine demeanor of one Angel Rosiel,* wrapped his arms loosely about Duo's neck and gazed imploringly into his eyes.

(*Angel Rosiel is a character from the anime Angel Sanctuary, and the word "saccharine" means "overly sweet.")

"Onegai...?" //Come on Duo...// He hid his agitation and focused on Duo, seeking the lust for revenge that he knew was lurking in the boy's heart.

Duo was not unaffected. He did want to kill Heero, and found himself hard put not to sever the boy's neck right then and there.

Heero could hear two sets of footsteps in the hall, one he recognized as Relena's and another that probably belonged to a guard. He was afraid. She wasn't the same girl he had once loved.

Duo smiled as he also heard those footsteps, and felt Heero stiffen at their approach. He stroked Heero's neck with the blade, teasing him. A hoarse laugh escaped from his throat.

Heero hissed angrily.

Duo kissed Heero softly on the lips, then drew back, regretfully.

"I'd love to kill you, but..." Duo looked toward the door as it made a soft clicking sound, as of a lock being released, "I think it'd be more fun to let you live."

"No! Duo, please..." now it was Heero that trembled.

Duo ignored Heero's terror and pocketed the knife, remembering how happy Relena had seemed after she had shot him. It was a good thing Lady Une had been there, or she probably would've felt inclined to shoot him again. He smiled at the thought of Heero in the unforgiving hands of Relena.

The door opened and light flooded in, blinding both boys. Heero averted his eyes easily enough, but Duo tried to face the light, turning his head to the form silhouetted in the doorway. He smiled.

"I have a gift for you!"

Relena stepped into the cell and picked up Heero, who made no move to resist, and began dragging him from the cell.

Duo watched them leave, noting the hateful look Heero was giving him. //Shiningami... Thanatos... I have delivered my charge.//

Relena closed the door and Duo's world went black. He clutched the necklace he wore around his neck and prayed, not to Kami-sama, but to Lady Une.

"Lady, please, I need help..." He fell asleep on the cold floor.

One of Lady Une's soldiers saw her frown, then walk in the direction of the dungeon.

***

"Why do you keep bringing in these street rats?"

"Street rats, Sir?"

"Yes," the voice sounded contemptuous, "this one's even got a tail."

Duo felt a tug on his braid and awoke immediately, automatically reaching for the neck of whoever'd dare touch his braid. He started with surprise when he found himself face to face with Treize, then skittered backward until he bumped into a headboard and realized he was perched on a rather large bed.

"Mmm, he's got nice reflexes," Treize tried not to laugh as the boy examined his surroundings with a look of complete bewilderment on his face.

Duo took on a defensive position and refocused his eyes on Treize.

"Nobody touches my hair."

Treize frowned and turned toward Lady Une, who had been standing right behind him.

"He's dripping blood all over the sheets."

"I apologize Sir, I'll get someone to clean it up right away."

Duo crossed his arms and proceeded to look depressed. "I'm bleeding to death and you two are worried about the mess it'll make!"

Treize glared at the rude boy, noting that he looked and smelled like he hadn't taken a bath in a few days. He knew Lady Une would gladly tend to the dirty boy, but that was the last thing he wanted her to do.

"Lady Une, get someone to strip this bed, I'll take care of this rat." With that, he grabbed Duo's arm and hauled him off the bed, dragging him toward the bathroom.

Duo decided to be as difficult as possible and dragged his feet on the carpet the entire way across the room to the bathroom.

Once inside, Treize slammed the door behind them and drew a gun.

Duo looked at it in surprise, then began pouting. He didn't like having guns pointed at him.

Treize stepped over to Duo and, with his free hand, ripped the boy's bandages off.

"Itai!! What'd you do that for?!"

"You can't take a bath with all this junk on."

Duo looked at him incredulously, "A bath? Why do I need *your* help to take a bath?"

Treize opened his mouth to answer, then shut it as his eyes fell upon the boy's necklace. //One of Une's...//

Duo saw where Treize was looking and smiled.

Treize sheathed his gun and reached around Duo's neck, carefully removing the jewelry. He wrapped it in a small cloth and placed it in his pocket, effectively deafening it.

"Come on now, off with the pants."

Duo stepped back nervously, remembering what had happened last time his pants had been forced off.

"Don't be a coward." Treize reached for Duo and managed to grab him from behind, around the waist.

Duo struggled futilely.

"Can't Lady Une ever bring in a *clean* street rat?" Treize glared at Duo and unlatched the boy's pants.

"Hey!" Duo's voice started to sound desperate, "Why are you so determined to give me a bath? Why not let Lady Une take care of her own rat?"

"She is constantly surrounded by dozens of young bishounen. I am *not* about to allow her to give them baths!" With that, Treize yanked the boy's pants right off and threw him in the tub.

Duo looked up at Treize in astonishment, "You're worried about me hitting on your girl?!"

Treize looked at him in confusion.

Duo stared at Treize, his eyes glazed over with pain. //Heero, Relena... I wish I could kill them both.// After seeing what Relena could do to Heero, he could never look at a woman that way again.

"I'm no threat to your Lady Une..."

Treize turned on the water and tossed Duo a washcloth.

Duo began absentmindedly cleaning himself while staring at Treize in a way that seemed to make the older soldier increasingly uncomfortable.

Finally Treize had had enough. He grabbed the rim of the bath and glared crossly at Duo.

"I demand to know what is so damn interesting!"

Duo just stared at him.

"You're driving me crazy!"

Duo blinked, as if realizing something. His arm shot forward and hooked itself around Treize's neck. Before Treize could react, Duo had pulled him into the tub.

Wide-eyed, Treize felt a familiar sensation on his lips. //He... he's kissing me!// Frozen in terror, it took Treize a few seconds to work up the courage to move. //How could he...? What could instigate such desire in a male?// He jerked backward with strength enough to break the boy's impressive grip and glared at him furiously.

Duo started splashing idly, trying to dampen the few dry spots left on Treize's uniform.

"What is wrong with you?!"

"Wrong...? There's nothing wrong with me," Duo grinned, "I'm perfectly sane."

***

Heero stopped in the midst of his lovemaking with Relena as Duo's voice echoed through his mind, claiming to be sane. //No... that's not right; I thought I'd fixed that.//

Relena, seeing her lover hesitate, rolled over and pinned him down, pressing her body down upon his imposingly.

Heero reacted automatically, hardening and arching upward as he strained to keep his thoughts in order. //Duo...//

Relena placed her lips over Heero's and let her saliva drip into his mouth as her tongue invited the other to dance.

//No, Duo cannot be sane...// He felt a foreign tongue in his mouth and stroked it gently with his own tongue. //How could he not be mad after what I did to him?//

Relena scowled impatiently. Heero was not focusing correctly; his mind seemed to be elsewhere. She broke the kiss and stared into his eyes until he began to fidget, finding her unbreakable gaze unsettling. //Much better...// She lifted his arms and guided his hands over her body, bringing them to rest over her breasts.

All thoughts of Duo disappeared from Heero's mind as he stared into Relena's eyes, fighting a blush as his fingers relentlessly brought new in sensory data, describing to him luscious mountains of a soft, pliable material.

Relena breathed deeply, excited by the feel of his erection on her skin. She positioned herself appropriately and sank down upon him, forcing him inside of her.

Heero found himself encompassed by the warm, wet flesh of a living being and fought a wave of pleasure that threatened to drown him. It was too much for him and he threw his head back, gasping for air as the pleasure overwhelmed him.

Relena smiled as she watched Heero's face and saw him losing his battle. He belonged to *her* now. She felt her insides fill up with his love.

Heero's body shuddered with the effort and then grew slack. He had a pained expression on his face. //Duo... I'll kill you for this.//

Relena bared her teeth in a victorious smile, sensing herself to be dominant.

Author's Note: Kowai o...! What a sad ending... now if I was a *decent* author I'd probably add another chapter and fix that... but I'm not sure I want to... The bad guy has got to win sometime, ne? Review and tell me what you think.
