Duo lay drifting in and out of consciousness in the rubble. Somehow he'd made it out of his Gundam but debris had fallen on his already weak form. He was trapped beneath and too weak to move. All, but dead, he closed his eyes, awaiting the inevitable.
Suddenly, he felt the bar on top of him lifted off. He barely managed to open one eye and fought the blurriness of his vision to make out the single figure above him. The blur bent down, pulling the rubble from on top of him.
"Just hang in there hon. I'll get you out," he heard a girl's voice as he closed his eyes again. He didn't think a girl could possibly be strong enough to get him out of there, but his doubts were erased as she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him free from the remaining debris. It hurt to move, especially that much, but in all his agony, he was too far gone even to scream. He rested his head against the girl's chest and blacked out in her arms.---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------
Duo carefully opened one eye, wondering if he was dead. The pain that coursed through his body said no. He opened his other eye and looked around, attempting to get his bearings. He could see an open window with lavender curtains blowing in the breeze. The sun shone in, illuminating the bedroom. It hurt too much to really turn his head to get a look at them, but he could smell the lilies on the table beside him. He decided that since this didn't look like Quatra's room, he must be in a girl's gedroom. But who's?
He had just closed his eyes to go back to sleep when he heard the door creak open. He slightly opened one eye hoping to catch the intruder off guard if they meant to hurt him. Not that he was in any condition to move, let alone defend himself. A girl stepped in, clothed only in a towel. He tried to gasp, speak, something, anything to alert her of his presence, but no sound came out. She didn't look over but he was stunned as she dropped the towel. Her back was to him as she pulled a dress from the closet. Her hair looked like strands of gold and was even longer than Duo's hanging down to cover her whole back and hanging down to her knees. She turned to the side to fish a bra from her dresser and the sun dappled across her skin, giving it a soft glow. To Duo, she looked like an angel, a naked angel, but an angel just the same. She turned to glance at him, and for the first time he got a good look at her face. Her blue eyes sparkled like clear blue pools of water and her lips were full and pink and a little pouty.
He was pulled from the trance she seemed to have put him in when he heard her shriek. He shut his eyes tight and made a pitiful attempt at pulling the blanket up furthur over him. He couldn't even move his arms enough for that. It slid slightly over him and he thought it odd that he would feel the blanket that much when he realized there was nothing over him. His eyes opened again, wide with worry at what she was going to do. There she stood in front of him, holding her sundress in front of her still naked form, grinning like an idiot.
"I'm so sorry hon. You startled me. You've been asleep so long that I just sorta assumed you'd still be when I got back from the shower. I should have checked first. I'm so sorry....," she giggled as she trailed off a bit. He shivered a little, nervous now that he realized his state of dress.
"It's ok," he managed to squeak out.
"Shh. Don't talk. You're still in pretty bad shape. You got banged up pretty bad. It's been almost two weeks and you're still in horrible shape," her brow furrowed as she stepped closer. Duo wanted to run, but he couldn't move. Instead, he just blushed bright red as she pulled the covers down a bit, exposing his bandaged chest. The blood had soaked through, leaving them red and brown in the spots that were dried. She winced, more in sympathy than anything as she reached to unwrap the bandages.
"This is gonna sting, but these all have to come off and be changed," she said softly. His first inclination was to try to scoot away, but he had no way of knowing if anyone even knew he was alive. He bit his lip in pain as she wrapped one arm around his shoulders to sit him up long enough to unwrap the wounds on his chest. There were a couple deep ones and countless smaller ones from the rubble that had pinned him down. He resigned himself to her touch, and leaned against her, fighting back tears. She pulled a warm washcloth from a basin full of water and gently cleaned the cuts. He winced but did his best to relax and before he knew it, she was done and his chest and back were once again wrapped up. He closed his eyes in relief for about a second before he realized she was pulling the covers down more. He blushed even harder this time and the girl smiled reassuringly at him.
"Don't worry, I'm not gonna try anything. And it's nothing I haven't seen before," she rolled her eyes a little before continuing. Duo shivered, partly because he was completely naked in front of some pretty girl who's name he didn't even know and partly just because he was really cold. The girl pulled the comforter back up over his shoulders to warm him and pulled it up from the bottom instead. She spoke softly as she unwrapped his bandaged legs and redressed his wounds.
"You know, for a while there, I didn't think you were gonna make it. Probably would have gotten me in less trouble, but I can't stand losing anyone. I'm Aurora, by the way," she continued talking as she finished and he hardly noticed the pain. She really did look like an angel, though she still hadn't seemed to have managed to put her dress on. She sat beside him in her bra and underwear after she finished bandaging him and ran her fingers through his hair. There was something truely comforting about her touch. Nothing lustful or anything, but true kindness in it. For a moment, he almost truely believed her to be the goddess of love.
"You should get some more sleep hon," she whispered as she stood to slip into the baby blue sundress. It hugged her body in the bodice and flowed over her hips, not quite to her knees.
'All she needs is wings and a halo,' Duo thought sleepily to himself.
"I'll be back to check on you," she said softly as he drifted off to sleep once again.
Hope you like it so far. I love reviews and I try to take any suggestions into account, so let me know what you think.
