Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Barrel Of A Gun ❯ No wonder they fight like siblings ( Chapter 3 )
Chapter Three
Barrel of A Gun: Gundam Wing Fanfic
Disclaimer: I own nothing but a few of the poems and song, and Cassidy and her mother of course, then some that are in here. Though I wished I owned Gundam Wing, I don't. :'(
A/N: If there is a bit of OOCness, don't send me a flame or anything hateful. It hurts ya know. Well, it may not be IC because I haven't seen Gundam Wing in a loooong while and I just got finished watching Endless Waltz. And this takes place five years after the series started so SUSH!
Cassidy was growing pale as she sat waiting for Relena. What was going to happen when she found out whom her brother was and what would she do if he were dead? Many thoughts crossed her mind as she waited, what seemed like an eternity, and alas, she ended up pacing.
"Now really, you can't be that nervous. I mean its like finding out the results on one of them college tests." Duo sat in the shadows, watching her. "Ya know, she called me here too, and she didn't tell me anything, so calm down."
"Sorry Duo, but I have a habit of fearing the worse in times like this. Most of the time, I'm right." Cassidy leaned against a wall and stared at the floor, her clay brown hair falling over her shoulders and past her waist.
"For such a pretty girl, you worry a lot." Duo laughed at the comment just as Relena entered, stopping Cassidy with her comeback. "About time, Relena, I was just about to leave."
"Very funny, Duo. Would you both step inside please?" Cassidy followed Relena slowly, letting Duo go ahead of her so she could have her fair shot at him. As she shut the door behind her, she hit Duo in the back lightly then sat down in an old mahogany chair crossed from Relena. "This week, a series of DNA tests were run on the Preventors Unit and you, Cassidy. The results are why both of you are here. This still puzzles me in why you hadn't figured it out, Cassidy, but you may as well take a look." Relena handed Duo and Cassidy a paper in a brown folder.
Cassidy's eyes widened as she read what was in her hands:
*********
A series of recent tests has proven that DNA test patient #2887AL9; Cassidy M. Morissette has family living in this facility. Though not a name given, we have been asked to run tests on the following names of Preventors:
Quatre Raberba Winner
Trowa Barton
Duo Maxwell
These tests were taken on December 12th AC 198. The following names of those of blood type or Ethnic origin as patient #2887AL9:
Duo Maxwell
After reading this information, we compared DNA charts of patient #2887COL9 to patient #01PVTRnum.04; Duo Maxwell and received positive results in matching. We send our congradutions to Duo Maxwell and may hope the best of his future.
*********
Cassidy finished reading the letter with tears in her cobalt eyes. So Duo's my brother, huh? That explains a lot. She looked at Duo, who showed similar emotions. There was a long silence, and Cassidy didn't want to be the one to break it. Loud like a clash of lightning, Duo smacked his forehead suddenly.
"No wonder Trowa was so distant a week ago. He noticed something about you that he couldn't put down or that he wasn't saying." Duo looked up slightly, his cobalt eyes staring into his palms like there was a script engraved in his hands.
"Miss Relena, its time to go." The blond-headed Quatre opened the door slightly and poked his head through, smiling at Duo. "We should go before the traffic gets bad."
"Alright, thank you Quatre."
"Mhmm" After Quatre closed the door and left to get the limo, Relena looked at Duo then to Cassidy. It's amazing how answers are right under our noses and we don't even take the time to think about them.
"Duo, take the rest of the day off and get to know your sister better, the others will understand if they knew the situation." Duo looked up and smiled a cocky bright smile.
"Thanks Relena, I owe you one." Duo stood and looked at Cassidy. "Let's go. I'm sure that Relena is sick of me by now." He smiled at Relena as Cassidy stood up and gave Relena a hug.
"Thank you so much, Relena. Thank you." Cassidy waved to her friend one last time and ran to catch up with her brother, who was already out the golden oak doors. "Give me a call later."

Cassidy sat on the black marble counter top as she waited for a pot of black coffee to finish brewing. As she listened to Duo talk about how stupid he was to have not notice that she looked pretty much like him, she played with the end of her ponytail. Unconsciously, she called made her "all men are stupid like that" comment and ended up on the floor. Laughing, she stood up and got two mugs from her cupboard and poured some coffee.
"Come on, you don't need to sit down there with Medley."
"Weird name for a dog, don't ya think?" He stood and sat down in a black stool with music notes on it. "I mean, why not go with something simpler like Sam?"
"A medley is where two or more songs blend together into one. If you haven't noticed by now, I love music, it only fits." Cassidy reached under the table and snapped her fingers, in which Medley walked over to be pet.
"I should have figured." He took of a drink of the coffee and as he set it back down, his face became hard. "That woman in the rehab center, that was Mom, wasn't it?" Cassidy stared into the bottomless pit of her coffee and sighed.
"Yes, I'm afraid so. After she found out that Father died, she started to drink and I thought it would pass but it didn't. By the time I entered high school, she was addicted to drugs and alcohol. I was the only support that she had, so I enrolled her into the rehab at least until after my end of the year finals. Every time though, she got out. She would drink more and more, until she thought that I was the name and disgrace that I see myself as. The drugs made her light headed but the alcohol was what made her horrible." Duo pounded his fist on the table, and she was afraid to go on.
"How horrible, exactly?" It was the question Cassidy feared at the moment.
"Well, let's just say a gun took away the hockey scholarship that was going to get me into college." She sighed softly, closing her eyes as she pictured the hockey scholarship. Just as Cassidy opened her eyes, the doorbell rang. Disappearing around the corner, her voice echoed back to Duo.
"Duo, there's someone here looking for you."
