Chapter 5

He had left, leaving me on the floor, to live or die as god willed. Then I heard it, the bleeping noise coming from my laptop. I struggled to lift my head up and looked at the flashing screen. I had a message coming in from Dr. J. I struggled to get to my knees. I crawled to my laptop and clicked on the message. I had a mission. It had been so long between missions that I was beginning to forget my training.

// I don't care anymore

if I let you down

I believe that I need to be free //

I dragged myself onto my feet and into the bathroom. Looking at the blood over my clothes in the mirror, I reached up with my hands and snapped my nose back into its place. I stripped my clothes off and struggled into another of my school uniforms.

I grabbed the keys Duo had left on the desk and staggered down to the car. I hoped that the adrenaline pumping in my system would keep me upright until after the fight. I went to the dock where I kept Wing Zero in and groaned as I jumped up to the loading dock. I strapped myself into my Gundam and powered it up.

Checking a few problematic systems I noticed that someone had fixed them. Duo didn't even know where I hid my Gundam, so I couldn't blame him. The only one who knew where it was hidden was Wufei.

// All these tears that I've cried

You must be tired of taking care of me but

Its what you do best and I'm a liar

cause really its what I need //

Moving out took little time but more energy than I though I had. I programmed my Gundam with the coordinates and leaned back as the adrenaline was seeping out of my system. I grabbed my first aid kit and popped half a dozen pain killers and clasped the bottle of wake-up pills between my legs. I set the Gundam's timer to go off an hour before the arrival time. I figured I would get 3 hours of sleep before I was woken up. I laid my head back and drifted off.

BLEEP_ BLEEP_ BLEEP. The alarm was going off. Disoriented, I looked around for enemy mobile suits. There were none and then, I remembered why I needed the alarm. Even through the painkillers, I could feel my body was one giant bruise. I opened the bottle of wake-up and took 4 of them and 15 minutes, later I started to get the shakes. By the time I got the shakes under control, I was in the field,. A new Gundam landed in the field. This one, an older version my own, stood between me and the headquarters that was my mission to destroy.

Maybe, its change, that set you free

Free.... //

I argued with the pilot and then this woman told me if I did not surrender my Gundam, she would destroy the colonies. Dr. J then gave me permission to self-destruct.

For a moment I didn't need you //

Inside I rejoiced the fact that I would be released from my torture. Duo would never have a chance to hurt me again. I hit the self-destruct button and in a few moments my Gundam exploded and I knew nothing else.
