He woke in the midst of pleasure, arms and legs moving on their own to wrap around the man moving slowly inside him. “Trowa…what?” he asked softly; completely awake in an instant.

“It’s morning. We have to leave soon.”

“Then we need to get ready to leave,” the smaller man replied breathlessly, trying to make his mind work clearly. “This isn’t a good idea, Trowa. Once can be explained away by stupidity or foolishness. Twice…” Duo lost his words in a moan as teeth found his collarbone.

“Twice can be explained as desperation,” Trowa finished for him, pushing his hips faster. “Please don’t tell me to stop, Duo. I need you so badly.”

He stopped resisting, thoughts of Quatre going through his mind only briefly before he forgot the blonde, his attention focusing on the man with him. “Trowa, more,” he pled, hoping the other man would understand.

Apparently, Trowa guessed what he wanted, moving faster inside him. All Duo could do was hold on as he was taken, his erection sliding between their bodies with each movement. When Trowa’s mouth covered his, he let the other man take control of the kiss as he basked in the sensations. It wasn’t long before he practically screamed into Trowa’s mouth as his orgasm was pulled from him, filled seconds later. There was no time to enjoy the feeling as he was abruptly picked up, Trowa still inside him. “What are you doing?”

“Shower.”

“You can put me down,” he noted in amusement, arms going around the strong neck.

There was a hesitation before Trowa replied with a short, “No.”

“Why not? There’s nothing wrong with my legs.”

“Because I don’t want to put you down.”

“Oh, well, in that case, is it okay if I do this?” Duo asked softly as his lips began to explore Trowa’s neck and shoulders, smiling when he heard the long groan. Assuming he would never have a chance to do this again, he continued to assault the other man with his teeth and tongue, gasping when he was abruptly sprayed with warm water.

Shock at being soaked was forgotten when Trowa began to thrust shallowly into him. “Again?”

“I’ll stop if you want me to, Duo,” Trowa rasped as he braced the smaller man against the shower wall, leaning back to meet Duo’s eyes. “I don’t want to hurt you, but I can’t seem to get enough of you. Do you want me to stop?”

He knew this was wrong. Trowa belonged to someone else and his answer should have been a firm yes, but Duo had wanted his partner for too long. “Don’t stop. I need this,” he admitted, aware he was only making things worse but unable to deny this last pleasure.

Water poured over them as Trowa moved inside him, pulling moans and gasps from Duo. The tall man tensed almost the same moment he did, Duo’s semen instantly washed away from their bodies. As Trowa slid from him, he was finally allowed to stand on shaky legs. Expecting to be released, he froze when strong hands remained on him, gently rubbing his skin. His brain was beginning to work again, bombarding Duo with guilt. Unfortunately, Trowa knew him well and tilted his chin up so their eyes would meet. “I should have known you would regret this, Duo. I’m sorry for making you do this.”

“You didn’t make me do anything. I’m pretty sure I remember you giving me several chances to say no or tell you to stop. I don’t regret it, exactly.”

“Liar. I can see it in your eyes.”

Wincing, Duo averted his head, turning his eyes away from Trowa to stare blindly at the showerhead. “I can’t regret it, Trowa. I’ve wanted this to happen for a long time.”

Hands clenched tightly around his arms for a moment before loosening, “Then what is it?”

“Quatre. If he knew about this, it would hurt him. Betrayed by his lover and one of his best friends? It’s like something out of a soap opera.”

“You think I don’t realize that?” Trowa’s strained tone brought Duo’s eyes back to him, seeing anguish in the green depths. “Damnit, Duo, I couldn’t stop. I’ve wanted you for so long, but always told myself I wasn’t free. Last night you were in those shorts that didn’t hide anything and, if that wasn’t hard enough to ignore, you had your hair down. You’re so damn beautiful and when you reacted to me touching you…I lost my head.”

“You didn’t plan it?” This was something Duo had begun to wonder about. “We had the same room out of coincidence?”

“Une made the arrangements, not me. I’ve done my best to avoid being alone with you unless we were at work. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to stop myself if we were together. I hate to admit it, but I might have tried to take you even if you hadn’t wanted me.”

Moving away from the other man, Duo tilted his head back into the shower of water to wet his hair. He would have to braid it wet, but there was no way he would be able to brush it out; sleeping with it down was bad enough, but Trowa’s hands had delved into the mass a number of times during sex. “You wouldn’t have forced me, Trowa. It’s not in your nature,” he assured, closing his eyes as water ran in his face.

“You might be sure about that, but I’m not. I never thought I would cheat on Quatre, or that I would be thinking about doing it again so soon after being inside you.”

Trowa’s whispered words had Duo opening his eyes, gasping when he saw the hungry gaze watching him. “Trowa, we can’t. Not again. We have to leave. We should have left already,” he reminded softly, shamed at the breathless quality of his voice. “We have to forget this ever happened,” he added, already aware he would never forget. The night was forever branded in his memory as one of the most passionate experiences of his life.

Feeling the water begin to cool, he turned, bending over to adjust the temperature and shouting as he was entered roughly, the cry coming from exquisite pleasure instead of pain or fear. “Trowa, we shouldn’t do this,” he rasped, amazed at the other man’s recovery time.

Reaching around him, Trowa turned the water off as Duo grasped the faucet, taken for the fourth time. “One more time, Duo.”

Memorizing every sensation as Trowa moved inside him, Duo closed his eyes and hissed, “One more time and then it can’t happen again. One more time,” he repeated as strong hands gripped his hips, pulling them together forcefully.

“A plain, boring surveillance assignment? What fun,” Duo groused as he read the details in the file he held.

“I realize this is sedate compared to what the two of you are accustomed, but we believe this man is harboring a murderer,” Une noted calmly, eyes going from one partner to the other, hands clasped on the surface of her desk. “You will be set up in a house we’ve rented, across the street from Dr. Richard Merick’s vacation home.” Gesturing to the file Duo held she spoke in a firm tone, “As soon as you see proof the doctor’s brother is inside the house I want him taken into custody. You can expect resistance from both men. I believe the doctor is willing to kill to protect his only remaining family.”

“How long are we expected to remain on surveillance?” inquired Trowa, leaning over to glance at the photos Duo was studying of Benjamin Merick, a man that seemed normal in appearance, but that harbored a murderous monster inside.

“We have rented the house for two weeks. I don’t know if it will take that long to obtain the proof we require, but if we haven’t seen evidence during that time we can assume Benjamin Merick has found another place to hide. This is the only lead we have, gentlemen. I shouldn’t have to emphasize how important it is to capture Merick before he kills more women.”

“What do we do if the doctor gets in our way while we’re trying to apprehend his brother?” Duo questioned, already wondering how he was going to spend days, if not weeks, in Trowa’s constant presence.

“Take whatever action is necessary, but only take him out if he leaves you no other choice. We might be able to turn him against his brother once the doctor learns of his activities.” Une nodded shortly at them, “I hope the doctor won’t question your sudden appearance, but if he asks questions you are to use the cover story that has been provided.”

Flipping the page, Duo scanned the story that had been concocted. Only years of training hid his utter shock as he glanced at the woman, convinced she had discovered the best way to torment him. “A vacationing couple? That’s the best the brains in the think tank could come up with?”

“The doctor’s house is down the road from a private beach exclusively for homosexuals. You have both been given temporary memberships to the beach and I expect them to be used. The doctor is a regular member and has a guest pass he uses often while staying at his beach house. The scarce information we have on Benjamin Merick says that he is bisexual and may accompany his brother to the beach.”

“Ma’am, you are aware I am in a relationship,” Trowa said slowly, his voice apprehensive.

Duo could easily guess the cause of Trowa’s strain. It had been three months since the night they had spent together and they had been careful not to be alone together at any time unless they were in the office they shared, where they usually kept the door open. Though things had been tense between them at first, Duo had finally been able to act normally around the tall man after a week, choosing to act like the night had been nothing more than a vivid dream. He supposed Trowa had either done the same or had forgotten the night all together since it hadn’t been brought up again. There were times when he felt the green eyes on him, making him assume Trowa hadn't forgotten, though they had pledged to do just that.

“I’m aware of your relationship with Quatre Winner, but I expect you to do whatever is necessary to maintain your cover. You cannot hide inside the house all the time without arousing suspicion.” Une held up a hand, “I do not expect you to have sex on the beach; I’ve been informed it does happen. How you act inside the house does not matter, but when you are in view of the public you will act like a couple on vacation.”

Hoping he could maintain some distance while acting like a couple, Duo gave a terse nod, “Understood. Can we go now?”

“Go home and pack what you need. Expect to be gone the full two weeks and make your arrangements accordingly. I don’t require you cut ties here, but I do ask you keep phone calls and computer chats to a minimum so they can’t be traced. Dismissed, gentlemen.”

In their office, neither man spoke of the assignment as they prepared to leave. The tension he could feel was upsetting him, so Duo made an effort to remind himself Trowa was not his. “What are you going to tell Quatre?”

The tall man didn’t speak until they were walking out of their office, “The truth, I suppose. What else can I tell him?” Closing the door behind them, Trowa frowned as Duo turned in the opposite direction of the elevators. “Where are you going?”

“Ummm, to talk to Zechs.”

“Why?”

“To tell him I have to postpone our date,” admitted the braided man with a red face.

“You planned to go on a date with Zechs?”

Shoving his hands into his pockets, Duo shrugged, “Why not? He’s a pretty nice guy and he’s attractive. He’s asked me before, but I always said no. When he asked me again last week, I accepted. It was supposed to be just getting a drink, but it’ll have to wait,” he winced, wondering why he felt guilty as he explained. It was undeniable that he wanted Trowa and apparently always would, but the tall, green-eyed man was not single. In the past Duo had refused Zechs’ invitation because the blonde wasn’t Trowa. This time he had accepted because of the same reason, in hopes of getting over the problematic feelings he had for his partner.

“Are you going to tell him our cover story?”

“I don’t know why I would. It’s just work.”

“Just work?” Trowa’s eyes bore into Duo as he abruptly moved closer, leaving less than an inch of space between them. “We’ll see about that,” he muttered under his breath, backing away when other agents appeared in the hallway.

Duo turned away, keeping his voice low enough so his words wouldn’t travel down the hallway, reaching only his partner, “It is just work. We need to remember that.”
