"Hi, my name's Holly. I'll be your waitress tonight," The server beamed at the 5 guys seated around the booth at the restaurant. Heero looked up to acknowledge her presence and found himself staring into the biggest blue eyes he'd ever seen. Her light brown hair was pulled back in a long pony tail that hung down her back. She had a bubbly demeanor to say the least. Holly flashed him a friendly smile and he felt his heart skip a beat. Siliently, he chided himself. He was a soldier, nothing more. He shook his head slightly and looked away. He didn't hear the rest of what she said."You okay, Hee-chan?" He looked up to see Duo's amythyst eyes gazing into his."Hn," he grumbled, much to the amusement of the braided boy. Most of the night was spent babbling between the gundam pilots, with the exception of Heero, who was very much confused by his reaction to the waitress. No one paid any mind to his actions. No one, except Duo. He watched with amusement as Heero stared, dumbfounded, at the girl every time she came over. She flirted with him liking nothing else, and that confused him more. He wasn't entirely sure how to react to it. He managed a small smile and Holly grinned at him. "She wants you you know," Duo pointed out after she left to go put in their dessert order."Huh," Heero just stared at him, once again, unsure of how he should be reacting. "By the way, the way to get a girl's attention is not to just stare at her. You oughta say something at least," the braided Gundam pilot chided Heero."Why would I wanna do that?" Heero grumbled. "It's obvious you want her. It's just more fun to act on it than to stick to staring.""Hn," Heero growled. Was it really that obvious?******************************************************************* **************************************"You ok Heero?" Quatre asked nervously. Heero was just sitting, staring off into space instead of his usual position in the corner, hunched over his laptop. "Hn," came the absent minded reply."Still thinking about that girl huh?" Duo grinned at the messy haired Gundam Pilot who only grubled in reply."Admit it, you like her."Duo continued egging him on until he got up to leave. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you mad," the long haired pilot murmured, following Heero out of the room."It's fine. It's just.. I ... umm," Heero stumbled around slightly, struggling for the words to explain his feelings."It's no big deal that you like her ya know. Just means you're finally getting to be a little normal. Besides, you can cool it now. Remember? The war is over," Duo did his best to reassure his friend."I just... I don't know the first thing about any of this," Heero said quietly. Duo was shocked, not by what Heero was saying really, he assumed that the Wing pilot didn't know the first thing about girls, but that he actually admitted to it. It was more than he'd ever let on about himself, even to Duo. The braided boy was quiet for only a moment before answering."Well, if you want, I mean you don't have to but it might help. Umm... I can help you if you want," Duo smiled sheepishly. Heero stared at Duo for a moment before flashing a tiny smile."Uhh... are you sure?" he asked, his voice almost a whisper."Sure. I mean, it's not like I'm doing anything else," Duo draped his arm around Heero, who, for once, didn't fight being dragged off by the long haired gundam pilot."Ok, if you wanna get her attention, you actually have to look like you care," Duo said as he sat Heero down on his bed. "What do you mean?" Heero asked?"I mean, that when you stare at her with that emotionless look you give everyone, it isn't going to make her want to get to know you," Duo shook his head. He was tempted to give up right away, but he wanted Heero to be happy and if he could help him , so be it."Ok... let's try this... Just pretend I'm her. All you gotta do is look at me and smile like you would at her. It's easy, just let how you feel show on your face," Duo did his best to explain. Heero smiled tightly at him, only succeeding in looking angry. Duo sighed."Well, that's a little bit of an improvement. The key though, is to actually look happy," Duo grinned as if demonstrating his point. He looked so silly that Heero couldn't help but smile with him."THAT!! Right there! That was it," Duo said when he caught the smile. Heero tried to replicate it and was even somewhat successful."Now that that's out of the way, we can get onto the real work," Duo said as he continued the lesson.******************************************************************** **************************************"You think you can remember all that?" Duo asked as they got in the car. Heero nodded, for once in his life, he really was nervous. "You'll be fine. Just remember to smile Hee-chan," the braided baka smirked.Long before Heero was ready, they arrived at the restaurant. Heero was pleasantly surprized to find that once again, Holly was their waitress. "Well, hello again," she smiled jovially. Her eyes sparkled with a light Heero knew he'd seen before. She seemed to have a real zest for life. It was evident in her every move, from the words she spoke to the way she walked. "Uhh.. hi," Heero did his best to smile, and found that thinking of his earlier experience with Duo helped. He remembered Duo's goofy grin and found a smile creep across his own lips. He didn't know how his friend had done it, but he really had helped.Their lunch went extremely well, with Heero managing not to look emotionless the whole time they were there. Duo did his best to keep him laughing and Heero tried his damnedest to let him. Finally, they asked for the check."Aren't you gonna ask for her number?" Duo asked as Heero picked up the check."I.. umm.. I guess I don't have to," Heero mumbled as he found her number written on a piece of paper enclosed with the check. They paid and left. As soon as the boys were to the car, Duo threw his arms around Heero."I can't believe you actually pulled that off," he grinned. Heero just had a dazed expression on his facem though he was quite pleased himself. "I guess that means I better get to coaching you on handling phonecalls and such," for the first time, Heero really envied Duo's social skills. Holly was the firstgirl he'd noticed who met both pilots and went for him over Duo with his ready smile and flirtatious antics. He really was grateful though.
