Chapter 2: Deception, Antagonists, Thoughts, & Confrontation

Back at Duo's house, Duo himself was almost frantic as he went to the back hall that led to his back door. He swung it open and waved his hand to tell the awaiting person to come inside.

"I can't believe you're still here! I mean it's been almost two hours!"

The blond girl smirked indignantly, "I knew it would be awhile so I took a walk and stopped at a friends house to have a bite to eat and hang out till I thought it was safe to come back. I guess my estimate was right. So… shall we begin where we left off?" The blonde's eyebrows moved suggestively, and she turned and licked her lips seductively as she walked away to go downstairs to his basement bedroom.

'So that's how I got myself in this mess!' He thought sarcastically as he followed the girl to his room, his braid swinging slightly. 'So much for not letting it happen again' Duo then proceeded to follow her as his over-active hormones kicked in and his bedroom door was shut. If one waited a little bit longer they could hear various moans and callings. These exclamations would give that one, who is listening, ideas of what they were doing, that were far *worse* than what they were doing in actuality, though, they weren't far off.

~ring-ring~

"Hello?"

"Eddy?"

"Oh, ya, it's me. What's up Trowa?"

"Nothing really, but we have to talk" And that's where Eddy got nervous. 'Oh Shit'

"Um, what about?" 'Oh, so he's gonna play stupid is he? We'll see how long this lasts.' Now Trowa wasn't happy. 'Guess I should have listened to Heero. Eddy is a conniving bastard'

"Not over the phone. We'll talk tomorrow in school. I'll pull you aside in the morning. We will talk then." And after that, Trowa hung up.

'Now why does he have to be so darned "straight-to-the-point like". Makes him all the more…intimidating' Eddy hadn't missed the extra emphases on 'will', and that bothered him. Surely the older of the two hadn't figured it out. Sure, he told Relena that Trowa didn't want her around him so much. He did it for a good cause! He was in love with the girl. How could he just sit back and watch her swoon over someone she could never have anyway.

Anyway, once that fool Maxwell wore out his time, he would be next. HE deserved her, not Trowa, and NOT Maxwell. At first he was infuriated with the braided fool. 'Cheating' on such a wonderful, beautiful girl. But that was at first. He had even almost told Relena of Duo's wrong doings. Then it occurred to him that this could work to his advantage. Have someone else break the news, then once she finds out tell her: "If I had known, I would have told you. If you need a shoulder to cry on, I'm here." He would have told her, but he wouldn't dare hurt her. If he did, though, he would be labeled the 'Relationship Ruiner' and that title was not appealing to his selfish needs. He wanted her to himself, and if he couldn't have her, know one would. The insolent, deceptive teen had even tried to prevent her infatuation with Duo from forming, but that hadn't worked.

Anyway, if he couldn't have her, and no one else would, and she just wouldn't take him. She should be alone. The other person he could go out with, and have as his own, he would put all his efforts into taking. Yes, the other girl was his back up plan, so if Relena did not submit to him…well, he'd always have her enemy and competition to go after as his own- to watch and torture Relena with if she did not accept him. Yes, Melissa, would be a wonderful second choice. Trowa's own girlfriend would take him in if he made the effort… that much he was sure of.

Relena lay in bed. She had to think. With her CD player playing Cold, she thought over the events that had played out so recently. First with Duo all-of-a-sudden joining the wrestling thing, then Eddy telling her Trowa didn't want her around anymore, then Duo acting a tad bit odd, AND THEN being informed, by Trowa no less, that he may be 'cheating' on her. And now Eddy had been being just so nice to her lately. She really didn't know whether or not to think he was up to something, or if he was just being nice. He could be so understanding sometimes.

'Grah! All these emotions for all these different people. I'm just so confused. Okay…I like Duo a lot, and he's tangible. He said he's not doing anything behind my back, so why not believe him. He doesn't lie. Trowa is off limits… even if it's because he's whipped and Melissa is not good enough for him, and has even cheated on him. Okay, maybe I should just leave that alone. Trowa isn't mine and that's that. As for Eddy, he's just a friend and someone to confide in for now. If things get to difficult I can talk to him. Okay, so there ya go, all done…now maybe I can get so sleep…'

Relena had played everything through. She tried to say she had everything sorted out, but she knew she didn't… she just didn't want to admit to not being in control. She didn't want to admit to being a normal teenager with confusing problems that seemed to be so much harder to solve than they really were.

She decided on a final option…sleep them all away…

The next day, before school, on the front school steps:

Trowa sat on the railing that lined the top of the steps and continued down the next five or six feet to the actual steps. He always got there early with Melissa. He had tried to talk to her, but she just pretended to listen. He could tell when she was and was not. Usually, the only thing that interested her was pleasure, music, and Kurt Cobain. Though, if Eddy said it, she listened with much attention, and that irked him…and, of course sparked some jealousy.

Trowa had always gotten there early, and Eddy always got there just as the first bell rang. Usually this was great to him. More of Melissa's attention was on him…but today it just annoyed him, and some of his other friends could tell, especially Heero, his most trusted friend. Heero had pulled him aside and asked if he was all right, so he promised to tell him everything later.

'Where is that bastard! He should be here by now!' He checked his watch, 'okay, maybe not, but still…why does he have to take so long!'

Just then Duo came up the path towards the stairs, his usual grin on his face. Trowa and Heero visibly scowled. 'How can he just pretend there's nothing wrong? With that grin, it's almost obvious he's getting some!' Both thought something along these lines, not differing too much.

"Hey guys, what's up?" He was just too cheerful in their minds. Both nodded in response, not trusting themselves enough to say something.

"Gees, you're both so very talkative today. Really, you shouldn't talk so much, it's not becoming of you." Duo laughed at his own joke, and just as Heero was about to put him in his place - was just opening his mouth to say just what he thought of him at the moment, and then see how 'becoming of him', a fist in his eye would be - when Trowa spoke up.

"There's Eddy" as he walked away he could hear Duo mumble something like, "He's in a hurry"

As he approached he could see Eddy stiffen. 'I knew it was useless to hope he would have forgotten' When they were face-to-face Trowa stopped, "I believe we have to talk"
