Cat-Boy Mayhem Chapter 9: Odd Feelings
'Duo appeared to be in the clouds. Looking around him, he then spotted a familar looking figure. It was Hilde! Quickly he ran to her, but she seemed to escape his reach no matter how close he was to grasping her arm. Then, right before his eyes, she turned into Wufei.'
Waking up startled as hell, Duo looked about his surroundings, and found he was still in the living room, laying down on the couch. /Now that was weird.../
The next morning also seemed unusual, for his owner wasn't up yet. /Doesn't she have to go to work?? I want to see the guys all ready, / he thought frustrated. Knowing he'd probably get in trouble, then awarded later, he went into her room, and found her to still be asleep!
"And she says I sleep too much?" Casually he went to her bed, and was about to shake her awake, but stopped short as he saw something. Through the silk gown she was wearing, he saw two very erected nipples. Now very curious, he carefully lifted the straps of the gown upward, and peered downward into it.
/Whoa! Those are bigger than Hilde's, / he thought his eyes nearly bulging out. Very carefully, he moved his head away, and let go of the straps. He then, gently, shook Wufei awake. She moaned in protest and said something along the lines of, 'five more minutes.' This didn't help Duo's present situation. Sighing, he looked down at his newly found hardy, and went to take a shower.
It relaxed, and helped him get rid of his problem, but he still had to wake Wufei. /Shaking her softly won't help, I guess I'll have to be a little more forceful. Well, here goes, / he thought as he shook her again. This time her eyes did open, and she looked up at him.
"Good morning," she said smiling softly, then fell back to sleep.
"Hey! Wake up! Don't you have to go to work," he asked shaking her again.
"No, I have another day off today," he then heard her mumble, as well as sigh. Now how was he supposed to see the guys now if she was staying home??? Deciding it was pointless to try and wake her anymore, he went into the living room and stared at the small door he always went through.
/Wait a minute, she always presses a button before I go in there. Maybe, / he thought smirking slightly. It was a good thing he was taught how to read by that machine(1), or else he wouldn't understand what the buttons said. Finding it to be a green one, he pressed it, but only to be asked for a code.
"Ugh, is someone against me seeing them, or what," he stated sighing pitifully. Suddenly, the phone rang, and a yellow button was blinking on and off. Pressing it, he looked to the screen on the wall and said, unsure, "Hello?"
"Oh, hello Duo. Is Wufei there," Quatre asked politely.
"Uh...she's sleeping right now, and refuses to wake up," the braded cat-boy replied honestly.
"Ah I see. Well I guess we'll just have to come over there and wake her up huh? See you in a few moments Duo," the blonde responded, and hung up the phone. /We? What does she mean by we? And why does she seem so cheery? Isn't she upset that she lost Triton just a week ago?? /
Either way he answered the door when she arrived, along with Trowa. He then watched as the Arabian went into his owner's room, and woke her up.
"Well, aren't you the last person I expected to see. You can sit down you know," the braded boy said, as he reclined on the couch. Trowa did as offered, but seemed to be deep in thought as they heard their owners conversing in the other room.
"I'm guessing she was happy to find she was getting another pet," Duo asked, slightly angry, but not too much so.
"Actually..." Trowa started to explain.
~Flashback~
Sally Po was going to fufill her friend's dying wish, but not without some help. Her and a few of the other workers came into Mary's house, and approached Trowa with extreme caution. Not that he put up much of a fight. His owner had told him that something like this would probably happen after she died. So he knew better than to cause trouble.
Loading him into a truck, one of the workers asked, "Should we replace his collar with a regular shock collar? Or do you think he'll try to kill his new owner as well?"
"I'm not sure. We'll keep it on him for a while, see if he tries anything. Then, if this girl named Quatre says it's okay, we'll remove his collar and put a regular," Sally stated, as she started to drive the truck. Trowa only had to attend two days of training with Noin, and then he was introduced to his new owner.
He had never been in an apartment building before, but he surpressed his curiousity. There was no need to be knocked out for something small. Upon reaching her door, the blonde girl opened it before they even knocked. She smiled kindly and let them in. She then had Trowa sit on the couch as she discussed the paperwork with Sally.
Seeing as they were distracted, he looked about and found several pictures of this girl with Triton. He knew that she only had him for a few months, but one couldn't tell by all of those pictures. She must've been really close to her pet. And that night proved him right.
Everything was dark, and he had fallen asleep. Only he woke up, because of a faint sound he heard in another room. Following the sound, he found it led to his owner's bedroom. Placing his ear against the door, he was then able to confirm that she was sobbing. She did indeed, deeply care for Triton.
~End Flashback~
"And what happened yesterday wasn't helpful," Trowa said, finishing his explanation. Curious, Duo asked, "What happened yesterday?"
"Another blonde girl named Midi(2) came upto her with another clone of me. She then explained how she named it Triton, in honor of her deceased pet."
"Heh, talk about a bad choice of a name. Now she'll just be reminded even more of him being gone." Both cat-boys then stayed silent, and looked toward the television set. Though their minds were on something else.
Meanwhile, within Meilan's room, she had invited Midi to her apartment to introduce her Triton to Solo. Ever since that day, he always stayed in her bedroom, sleeping the days away. So much so that his owner had to force feed him, bathe him, and make him do exercise. Introducing him to the new Triton might cheer him up, but even if he didn't, he'd still have to get used to him, because Meilan did propose to Midi, and she accepted.
"Okay, in there is Meilan's pet, Solo. He's been through a lot recently, so please, be careful not to hurt his feelings, and try to get along, okay," the blonde explained to her cat-boy. Nodding, he went into the room quietly, and didn't make any objections when they closed the door behind him.
Only two weeks old, Triton acted very much like a little kitten, and was curious about some of the things he saw in Meilan's bedroom. The shiny objects on top of the drawer caught his attention first, specifically the swords(3). Just about to grab one with his hand, he stopped short as he heard someone say, "Don't touch those! You'll hurt yourself."
Turning around, the kitten found himself looking at a very thin cat-boy. Indeed, Solo wasn't a pretty sight to look at, but being polite, he went upto him and said, "Hi."
"Hello," the older of the two responded, and laid back down, his back to the younger cat-boy. He was a bit surprised to find his owner's mate had one that looked just like his Triton, but knew he wasn't the same. Silence fell between them like a thick wall, and this left the kitten very bored. He sat on the floor beside the bed for little while before yawning, and then looked about for something to play with. All he could find was Solo's slow moving tail.
Watching it's every move, he waited for it to get near his paw before striking and grabbing it. Of course it slipped out of his reach, and he had to try again. For some reason, it seemed to be getting faster and faster, as if Solo was doing this on purpose. In fact, he was, but why was beyond him. This wasn't Triton. This wasn't his best friend. This wasn't the cat-boy he fell in love with!
Then why did he tell him that he still had someone to look forward to being with? Did he somehow know that his owner was going to marry? All of this was so confusing to him. And what was even more confusing, was his tactic to get the kitten closer to him, by lurring him in with his tail. Once he was completely on the bed, trying to get his tail, Solo struck, and quickly grabbed the kitten into an embrace. He struggled for a bit, but found it impossible to get out of his grip.
"What is your name," the thinner, yet surprisingly stronger, of the two asked.
"Triton," was his answer. He was stunned. Did that girl name him this on purpose?!? This cat-boy was nothing like his Triton! NOTHING!! The look on his face must've been scary, for the kitten tried even harder to escape his grasp. Yet as fast as he got angry, the quicker he got sad. Before Solo knew it, he was sobbing again over his lost love.
All of this was so confusing for the little kitten, but instincts told him to comfort the older cat-boy. Luckily for him, the one sobbing was too weak to continue for long, and fell asleep out of exhaustion. Finally able to sit up, he looked down on the sad face. What had happened to cause him so much pain? To be so miserable?
"Triton, come on, let him sleep," he heard his owner say softly. He obeyed, but kept thinking about that one facial gesture he received after giving his name. The next few days were similar to that, only he got him to talk more, and actually eat. It was sort of boring though, trying to improve his health and hardly speaking, especially for a kitten.
"Meilan, when are we going to celebrate our engagement? It's been over two weeks now," Midi asked, quite bored herself, and petting Triton lazily.
"Um...tomorrow! I don't have all the food required for it, and I wanted Solo to be a bit healthier when we celebrated," the Chinese girl stated, and went about making a list of things she had to buy. The news couldn't have made Midi happier, and she hugged her pet for all he's worth before helping her future wife with the list. Anxious, the green-eyed kitten went upto his master and asked, "Will other cat-boys be there?"
"Of course, all those coming will bring their cat-boys," she explained, and smiled as he nearly ran into Solo's room.
"Solo! Solo! Other cat-boys will be visiting tomorrow! We're going to see other cat-boys! Isn't that exciting," he said excitedly, and was jumping on the bed. This of course was a rude awakening, but the older cat-boy merely smirked at his--we mean *the* kitten's antics.
It had only been a few days, but his efforts to improve Solo's health was working. He didn't sleep as often, ate more, bathed on his own, and was starting to play around again. Maybe the past Triton was right, he did have someone to look forward to being with.

Man did I have writer's block on this! Now when I was going to say his kitten's antics, I meant that in that kitten was a nickname for the new Triton, and he was starting to like him in that way. Not in a fatherly way. You also notice how both Kitten and past Triton show concern? Anyway, here are those numbers:
(1) Remember that machine I mentioned in the first chapter? It teaches them how to read.
(2) I'm confused on how to spell her name. I thought it was Midi, but I find in the comic it's Midii. Then others spell it with two d's. I'm just going to continue calling her Midi, okay?
(3) Well she is Chinese. You'd think they'd have swords somewhere. Kidding, bad joke. I just wanted to put something that could possibly harm a curious cat, that way Solo would have to say something to him.
