Quatre broke the silence with his soft tone. "I know it's kind of sudden, we've never really thought about it, or discussed it, but we can't run from it any longer. We knew the subject would come up eventually."
She felt the bed dip to his weight as he sat down beside her, but she rose up and walked over to the window. "You're right. It's something that we can no longer avoid, I guess it's time to face that fact."
"I wouldn't really be in such a rush Relena, but my sisters, I'm afraid a few of them are gunning to take the company away from me and it'll be easier to do so if in fact I have no son to carry on for me. I'm asking so much from you so I understand if you refuse. I've no right to even ask you."
Relena turned from the window and faced Quatre again. "I've seen you dedicate your life to your father's company with your own sweat and blood. I am not going to allow a few of your greedy, manipulative sisters to take it from you and destroy your hard work." She sat back down beside him on the bed. "Besides, it's something I think the people have been wanting for awhile also, and who are we to refuse those we serve."
Quatre took her hand and sniffled tears. "But it's so unfair to bring children into the world just to have them serve as mere pawns and representations. They should be wanted for the right reasons."
She curled her fingers around his and with her other hand she cupped his cheek and turned his face to hers. "Do you want children Quatre?"
"I always have."
Her gentle smile eased warmth through his body. "So have I Quatre, and I can't think of anyone who would make a better father than you."
Quatre blushed. "You'd make a wonderful mother Relena."
She giggled somewhat and averted her eyes only for a second before looking up at him again. "Then we can do this because we want to, not just because it's necessary. Agreed?"
Quatre shook his head, loving the way Relena had always been able to put things into perspective for him and ease his paranoia.

"Anything good on?"
Heero spoke without even looking up at Trowa. "Not really."
Still Trowa sat down on the couch beside Heero and propped his feet up on the coffee table, leaning his head back.
"Something's up Heero." This time he did catch Heero's attention and the Prussian eyed man clicked off the TV.
"What?"
"I don't know. Quatre wouldn't tell me, but something happened with his sisters today and when we got home he immediately took Relena upstairs to have a conversation with her."
Heero snorted. "Doesn't sound good for us whatever it is."
There was a few brief seconds of silence, and then Trowa changed the subject. "Feel like a x-large with everything and some beer?" Heero nodded. "Sure. When in doubt drink ourselves to oblivion."

Relena was up pacing as she was getting ready for bed. Quatre opened the closet and wondered why one of his shirts was crumbled up on the floor, while Relena was speaking.
"I was scheduled for a shot tomorrow. I'll just cancel it. Then we can discuss how to do all of this. What test tube company did your father use?"
Quatre stopped undressing for a second. "That's another thing Relena. I don't want to use test tubes."
She pulled a spaghetti strapped nightie over her head before looking at him. "O...kay." She said slowly. "Then artificial insemination?"
Quatre's silence told her it also was not an option and Relena could find no words herself. There was nothing but dead air between them before Quatre broke the silence. "You know how I feel about science Relena. I don't like it at all. I mean it's a good thing, but..." His soft tone turned desperate. "Maybe you don't understand because you were never a test tube baby yourself."
Relena tried not to take offense, knowing that Quatre's fears came from his heart.
"Neither were you."
"I know that now." Quatre pulled on a loose pair of pajama bottoms. "But for the longest time I didn't know that. I thought I had come to terms with the whole thing when I finally accepted the fact that I was, then I found out I wasn't and I was still okay with it, but, now when I'm thinking of having my own children I don't want any part of it."
"So you're talking about us having children the old fashioned way."
Quatre's sarcastic laugh was hoarse. "Since when, did children produced from a physical loving union between two people, become old fashioned?" He sat down on the bed defeated. "But I understand I have to respect your wishes. This is an imposition on your part, I'm asking you for a favor to end all favors...so whatever you want."
Relena crawled up behind him on her knees and began kneading the knots out of his shoulders. "There are just so many factors Quatre, including Trowa and Heero to consider." She left him then and wiggled herself under the covers and turned her back to Quatre. "We may as well sleep on it tonight and work the kinks out tomorrow okay?"
Quatre adjusted himself until he was under the covers as well, his hands behind his head looking up at the ceiling. "You're right I suppose. We're both to tired to think rationally about anything." He then heard her giggling. "What?"
She sighed her laughter to a halt. "Nothing. I was just thinking that this is the first real argument we've had since we've been married."
Quatre half chuckled. "And it's about the biggest decision of our lives."
Quatre felt the bed shaking slightly as she changed her position to lay on her other side to face him, this time it was her hand on his cheek, he turned to look at her. "Don't worry Quatre. We'll make the right choice. Everything will be fine." All he could do was look into her eyes and smile at her words. She pulled her hand away. "Now. Get some sleep or those pills I had Trowa slip you earlier will be for nothing if you let yourself get exhausted again."
"I thought something was up."
"Don't even talk Quatre. You and your lumberjack meals you insisted I eat today."
"Yea, well," Quatre sighed, "that's what married people do don't they? Take care of each other." He literally bit his tongue the words just falling out of his mouth before he thought about them. He looked over at her briefly to see her reaction but saw she had already fallen asleep. That woman could fall asleep on a dime he thought to himself as he flipped out the bedside light, allowing darkness to take over the room.
He rolled over away from Relena to face the wall when he heard her voice. "Yes. Quatre. That is what married people do."
He smiled just a bit closing his eyes. "Goodnight Relena." He said before drifting off to sleep."

Heero woke a few minutes before Trowa, still finding himself sprawled out on the couch, his head hurting a little, he yawned turning to Trowa hearing him stir. "What time is it?"
Heero squinted at the clock. "4 AM."
Trowa rubbed his eyes just to close them again. "My head hurts. Guess I should be getting back to my place."
Heero had already leaned back against the couch again half asleep. "Yea, you better." The next sound heard in the room was the light snoring of he two men as they passed out again.

The next morning Quatre stood in front of one of the several guesthouses that served as Trowa's home. He had knocked several times and had gotten no answer; not that he minded because he was nervous as hell. That morning both him and Relena had had their final discussion and had made their final decision.
Quatre closed his eyes remembering the painful, sad look in Relena's eyes when she realized that until she had actually gotten pregnant by him she would no longer be able to see Heero on a personal level. He knew how unfair it was to her and so he had told he would put off seeing Trowa for the time being as well. Now their only barrier was how well Trowa and Heero would take the news. Quatre knocked again with no luck. "Where could you be Trowa?" His eyes suddenly grew wide. "Oh no."
