Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Coffee ❯ One-Shot

[ A - All Readers ]

A/N: A very random, very short oneshot, but really I couldn't resist. Personally, I really dislike coffee but my sister has been drinking tons of it lately and it got me thinking. Anyway, happy reading!

DISCLAIMER: I don't own Gundam Wing, despite how much I'd love to.

Coffee

Heero lifted the steaming mug to his lips and swallowed a large mouthful of the creamy brown brew. Never once hesitating as the scalding liquid reached his throat, he went on and continued to drink until the whole cup was empty.

He reached over the table for a napkin, frowning heavily as he wiped stray bubbles of froth from his closed mouth.

“So,” Duo bugged him, restlessly shifting from foot to foot. “How d'you like my special brand of Duo-licious coffee?”

Heero's expression never changed. “It was too hot,” he supplied.

“Seriously?” Duo blinked, his eyebrows shooting up in surprise. “Jeez, well, er…you drank it pretty fast, buddy. Maybe you should have just let it cool a while you know?”

Heero grunted noncommittally, inciting Duo to lean forward over his seated partner so that their noses were nearly touching. “So besides the heat factor, whaddya think? Does it get the Heero Yuy stamp of approval or not?” he pressed.

Quatre laughed from his place at a desk three seats down. “Come on, Duo. You don't honestly think that you can get Heero to admit that he actually liked your special coffee, do you?”

“Well, why not?” Duo argued stubbornly, his arms gesturing out to the other occupants of the small office. “You all did. Hell, even stick-up-his-ass over there said it was alright!”

Said pilot snorted. “Trust me, Maxwell, I would have said almost anything to get you off my back about that stupid coffee, even if meant complimenting your less than competent abilities.”

“Yeah, yeah, Wufei. We all know you loved it,” Duo smirked at the china man's disgruntled look and then abruptly turned back to Heero, his violet eyes pleading.

“C'mon Heero, don't leave me hanging here! Tell `em you liked it - please?”

Heero's eyes acknowledged the seriousness in his gaze and then flickered back to the screen of his laptop.

He grunted. “It was good. But it had no milk and it needed more sugar. But other than that, it was fine.”

More sugar?” Duo gaped, his mouth dropping open in shock. “B-but I-I put like six cubes in that thing!”

“No,” Heero instructed sternly, “It needs more, to give it flavour. That's the way Trowa makes it.”

All eyes in the small office swivelled to the last member of their little group who sat quietly, his face as emotionless as always, sipping blankly on a mug of what was presumably very, very sweet coffee.

“Well, damn.” Duo muttered to himself, scratching his head in a rather stupefied manner. “Just…damn!

Heero nodded once as if in agreement and then returned to his typing. Quatre and Wufei eyed each other for a second, both too stunned to speak and then they shrugged indifferently, also going back to their work.

“Huh,” Duo faced the taller pilot with his arms crossed resolutely over his chest and a slightly petulant scowl adorning his features. “Huh. I guess it really is always the quiet ones isn't it?' He huffed and stalked away back to his desk.

Trowa only grinned.
