Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Crimson Nights and Scarlet Dawns ❯ Prologue
There was pain-- pulling violently through his veins, pulsing with every laboured beat of his heart, making his skin shiver and his muscles ache-- and yet somehow at the same time there was the most incredible rush, thrilling along his nerves and making him quiver even as he wanted to scream--
But then it stopped, or at least lessened enough that he could see the world beyond the pain again. There was someone standing very close, bent over him-- looming over him, almost curled over his body where it lay, as he could feel, on the cold cement of the sidewalk. This someone had a heavy hand pressed against his chest, another hand on his head forcing his neck at an awkward angle.
But they weren't looking at him-- this, he could tell even though his vision was rather frighteningly blurry. All he could see was a vague shape that might have been the lumpy back of a sweatshirt hood.
And then the shape was gone, thrown away suddenly-- he could feel their fingers ripped away from his skin, could almost feel the wind from their passage. Something wet and warm splattered across his cheek, but when he tried to move a hand to wipe at it, his hand wouldn't move.
It was about then that he realized just how hard it was to breathe.
Feet moved into his field of vision, wrapped up in black leather boots. A gloved hand followed, grasping his chin and tilting his head-- he had a moment to see the rich chill of dark blue eyes before the hand shifted to touch the side of his throat, bringing back the pain in a sudden, jarring rush.
It hurt-- and yet--
Chased by that disembodied blue gaze, Duo Maxwell fell into unconsciousness.
