**Chapter 4**

Middie groaned as she felt a wet cloth brush her hot forehead. Had everything that had happened
to her been nothing but a cruel nightmare? Everything seemed to surreal to be true.

What worried her the most was that before everything blacked out, she thought she had seen Nanashi!
Maybe the shock of being found out who she was, the ludicrous proposition that followed after, and the
consequences of her refusal might have caused her brain to envision Nanashi's face.

Middie wanted to laugh at herself for being so stupid and foolish concerning her line of work, now she
and her brothers would have to pay a heavy price. She moaned as she felt her head start to throb and pound,
within seconds, her body started to convulse from the effect of the psychoactive drugs.

"Trowa!" yelled Catherine, as she tried to hold down a convulsing Middie. "She's starting to convulse!
I can't hold her much longer!"

"I'm coming, hold on." answered Trowa, running over to the bed and taking over for Catherine.

"We should take her to a hospital." said Catherine.

"That is out of the question, she's in danger and I still have to ask her some questions."

"Does it have to do something with espionage?"

"Yes."

"Then I won't ask any more questions, but you better be careful Trowa. I don't want you to get hurt."

"Nothing will happen to me and all that I can tell you is that she is in danger of being killed."

"I see."

By then Middie had stopped having seizures and was now in a deep sleep. Trowa had just finished
talking with Lady Une and he was given specific instructions to take Middie Une to the tightly secured Preventer's
Headquarters located in the city of Hamburg where she would be later questioned by a panel of expert investigators.
Till then, Lady Une advised Trowa to read Middie her rights and if possible, try to get Middie to talk about what she
knew concerning the hydrogen bomb and how the president of Rosenburg was planning to use it.

The following morning, Middie woke up with a throbbing headache and in a strange bed. She looked
around in alarm and found the room tidy and clean with hardly any pictures or objects to make the room feel like a
home. It took Middie a minute to realize that she was in a trailer and not a mansion. The only thing that she could
remember from the night before was that she was drugged by the bastard of a president after she refused him and
her silly illusion that she saw Nanashi.

"What an idiot." thought Middie as she rubbed her head. "I must get out of here. I have to go to my
brothers."

Middie looked around the room again and quietly fot out of the bed and immediately realized that she
was wearing a nightgown that obviously wasn't hers. She frowned and looked around the room for her clothes and
found them on a chair next to the bathroom door, washed. She quickly put them on and walked to the door, intent
on getting out only to find that it was locked from the outside.

Middie cursed angrily and tried to move the knob again to no avail. "Maybe I haven't been rescued and
just got moved to this miserable trailer."

Middie turned around and walked to a small dresser intent on finding a key when she heard the door
unlock and someone walk in. Instantly, Middie turned around and found herself face to face with the person that had
haunted her dreams and memory for the last 10 years.

"Nanashi?" asked Middie flabbergasted.

"I locked the door so you wouldn't escape on me. I need to ask you some questions, but before I do
that. You have the right to remain silent...."

****************************************************** **********************************

"Have you found them yet?" asked Victor.

"No sir." answered Frederick calmly.

"How can you be so calm about this you fool! Don't you realize that she knows about our plans? Have
you forgotten that!" snapped Victor angrily.

"Of course I haven't forgotten. I sent the best of our men looking for them and I have erased all trace of
our plans from the computer files. If we are investigated, they will find no evidence."

"Frederick don't you realize that I have already givn that spy bitch important detailed documents. We
will still be prosecuted and tried! We must find her and that idiot who rescued her and kill him at once! I will not
have my plans ruined!"

"The spy Middie Une has three brothers, sir. I'm sure that if we capture at least one or all three, we will
be able to fish her out and kill her."

"It's important that we find her before she tells anyone about us and the bomb. Even if the Preventers
conduct a search and find nothing, it will only cause them to keep a sharp eye on us and all will be lost. I want one
thing understood Frederick, once you find Ms. Une, and you will find her, I want her back alive so that I may enjoy
her body and then follow up that pleasure by seeing her die by own hands."

"I completely understand sir. Do you want her rescuer to be brought back alive after all? Or do you
still wish to have him die on the spot?"

"Just kill the bastard! I could care less what you do to him! I want Ms. Une back and if it takes the
kidnapping or deaths of her brothers to bring her to me, do be it!"

"I'm right on it sir."

"Frederick."

"Yes sir."

"How is the progress going with the blueprints and construction of the hydrogen bomb? How is it going
to be built if we want no files kept or located on computer files?

"Our loyal scientists have come up with a new secret computer system that is completely protected and
concealed. We will start looking at the disk as soon as possible. The computer experts and nuclear scientists hope
to be looking at the disk's data within the next 24 hours."

"Fine. That's all that I require from you at this time. You may leave me."

Frederick gave a slight nod to the president and walked out the room with a grim look on his face. He
didn't know how much longer he could stand Victor's foolishness in the way he was handling himself and the secret
plans for conquest and glory. That fool's obsession with the troublesome spy was going to cost him everything! He
hated following that idiot's orders, Victor was a foolish, stupid president who didn't know how to control power
and now it might cost them everything and all because he told that little bitch their exact plans! But that didn't matter
now, he would make out his own plans and take over as soon as the opportunity arose.

*********************************************************** ******************************

Middie continued to look at Nanashi with shock, he was finally in front of her with the same personality
as ever, as if nothing at all had changed. But he did change, he was now 20 years old and a very handsome man, a
handsome healthy man that made her heart drop and caused her temperature to rise.

Middie shook her head and chastised herself, Nanashi was reading her rights and all she could think about
was how handsome he looked! Middie stared at him and narrowed her eyes, she must get her wits together and think
of a way to escape. She had to warn her brothers and retrieve the items that could convict Victor and Frederick from
the hotel.

"Do you understand your rights?" asked Trowa.

"Yes Nanashi, I do." said Middie coldly.

"I don't go with that name anymore. If you must call me a name, call me Trowa. Trowa Barton."

"Trowa? Barton?"

"Yes. I want to know your role in the theft of the hydrogen bomb blueprints from the base in Berlin."

"You read me my rights and you expect me to tell you? Even if I tell you, you won't believe a word I say.
You have already formed your own opinion about me and my character according to what happened when we were
10." answered Middie.

"Perhaps, but there isn't much time. We must get those blueprints back before they build the bomb or a
lot of people will die."

"Don't you think I know that! Let me go and I will try to set things right, but first I must talk to my
brothers." answered Middie.

"I can't do that without you betraying me and just leaving. I have already told my superiors about your
possible role in this incident. They already want to question you."

"Trowa, you don't understand all of the circumstances. Please, come with me if you must. I have to go
back to the hotel! I have to! It's where I left some documents and other items that will explain everything. We are
wasting time!" Trowa looked at Middie for a long time and wondered if he should at least check the hotel out.
"Fine, call your brothers."

Middie looked at Trowa and walked over to the phone and dialed her home's phone number. "Please
be there." thought Middie.

"Hello?"

"Cassius? Is that you?"

"Middie, where are you? Is everything all right?"

"Cassius, is Lucas and Brandon there at the house with you?"

"Yes, we're all here."

"Cassius, listen, its important that you all stay alert. Something happened and now the people that I
was working for are going after all of you. There's......"

"Middie hold on, I see a group of black cars coming down the drive. They'll be at the front foor in five
minutes."

"Cassius, that might be them. Please tell Lucas and Brandon to go with you to the secret passage. You
know where it is and where it leads to, its your only chance. Once you get tot he basement, you will find a safe with
my diaries in it, they must not get them."

"Middie, how can I open it without the combination? Hurry, I must go!"

"Its my birthday, good luck." Middie hung up and hoped that Cassius and her brothers were going to
be okay.

"Sounded like your employer isn't wasting any time." said Trowa.

"Its all my fault, but my job as a spy was the only way I knew in how to support them. I must go back
to the hotel and get my stuff."

"That sounds easy but you should be aware that the President of Rosenburg will have his men waiting
for you at the hotel."

"You trust me on this?" asked Middie.

"No." answered Trowa, walking up to her and taking out some handcuffs.

"You're handcuffing me?"

"I don't entirely trust you to keep your word. I don't want you to turn on me. I still have to take you
back to Preventers Headquarters for the investigation.

*************************************************** *************************************

Cassius looked out the window and saw that the entourage of black unmarked cars were approaching
the front gate. He ran down the stairs and to the living room where he last saw his brothers watching the news.

"Someone's coming, I wonder who it is." said Brandon out loud as he walked ovet to the front door.

"We'll open the door and see what they want." answered Lucas, eyes glued to the t.v. as a report on a
peace convention came on.

"It looks like some guys that work for a top govenrment agency." said Brandon, his hand on the
doorknob.

Cassius burst into the living room as Brandon was bout to turn the lock. "No! Don't! Come on, we have
got to get out of the house."

"Why Cassius?" asked Lucas.

"Those agents will kill us, turst me. I know a way out of here without being seen."

Lucas and Brandon looked at each other in bewilderment at Cassius's statement. Cassius wasn't one to
joke or make up stories and Brandon got a sinking feeling that Cassius was right when he saw one of the agents
check his gun and hide it under his coat.

"Lucas, he is right. I think we should go. Like right Now!" said Brandon, as he made a mad dash after
Cassius with Lucas close behind on their way to the attic.

The brothers for the exception of Cassius, wondered what the agents wanted with them besides their lives.
Could they have something the agents wanted? Were they after Middie as well or have they gotten to her already?
Did it have something to do sith her?

The three brothers reached the attic as they heard the government agents break into the house. Once
inside the attic, Cassius quickly and quietly walked over to the back and pushed some empty boxes to the side and
found a hidden door. The entrance to the secret passage was where Middie said it was, it was their only chance.

"Come on! Hurry up, they're already coming up the stairs!" whispered Cassius furiously, shoving Lucas
and Brandon into the small enclosed space. Cassius closed the well hidden door behind him seconds before the
president's agents burst into the room.

Cassius looked at his brothers and Lucas motioned with his hands if they should stay put or continue
down the passage. Cassius nodded and the three brothers started walking down the passsage as quietly and quickly
as they could while listening to the agents ransack the house looking for them.

They reached the hidden door to the basement and listened to see if their persuers were heading for the
basement. "I think the coast is dear. "I think the coast is clear." said Lucas.

"I think it would be wise to stay here for a few minutes." said Brandon.

"We can't do that. They'll find the safe and Middie gave me specific instructions that her diaries must not
fall into their hands. We have to move quickly."

Brandon looked at his younger brother and wondered what Cassius knew about their current predicament.
"You have some explaining to do little brother."

Cassius nodded and followed his brothers into the dark basement to search for the safe and found it in
front of a bookcase. Cassius opened the combination lock in less than a minute and grabbed the contents in the safe.
"Move the bookcase, a hidden door is behind it that connects to a tunnel."

"Come on Brandon, let's move it." said Lucas. "I can hear the goons coming." Lucas and Brandon moved
the bookcaseand found the hidden door and opended it.

"Cassius, you go first. We will follow you and figure out how to close the bookcase."

"Don't bother, the bookcase will close automatically, I checked it out days ago."

Lucas shrugged and followed Brandon into the tunnel, hearing the bookcase move back into place behind
the hidden door. They were allsafe for the moment at least. The three brothers walked down the tunnel for the next
half hour and surfaced deep in the woods. Cassius sighed and sat down on a fallen log.

"Alright little brother, you have something to tell us that Middie thought was important and worth all our
lives?" asked Lucas.

*********************************************************** *****************************

"Have you captured them?" asked Victor Frackenburg.

"No sir, the three brothers somehow eluded us. At present, they are nowhere to be found."

"Blast them!" roared Victor angrily, "Try to find them you fool! I don't care what it takes!"

"Yes sir."

"How could they have known we were after them?" asked Victor.

"Ms. Une must have warned them." answered Frederick, "I believe that we will have better luck
finding Ms. Une sir. I'm positive that she had left some important belongings in her hotel room. I already have
some men patrolling the hotel." said Frederick calmly.

"Good, I want her alive. Only I will have the pleasure of killing her." answered Victor, leaving the
room. "I will show no mercy towards an incompetent fool."

"So will I." whispered Frederick under his breath, "Especially when you are the fool."
