Relena silently groaned again, tossing in her bed for what seemed to her the one-hundredth time. She wiped her sweaty bangs from her eyebrows, her blood seeming as if it was on fire, even though she felt quite cool externally. Giving up on even attempting any more sleep, the just that day turned seventeen year-old sat up in bed, her eyes catching the still form of the girl on the cot next to her.
"What's wrong Eena?"
The blonde turned to her friend. "I'm surprised you're even talking to me Hildie...after, this afternoon."
Hildie was not sitting up on her own cot but was looking at Relena with a small smile. "No big deal, though it did scare me, but I know you'd never really hurt me, would you?"
"I would hope to not hurt any of my friends, which I suppose only includes you and Duo, but still you are the only two I have."
Relena jumped a little bit feeling Hildie's warm hand on her cool wrist. "Friends forever, right?"
"Right." She returned the dark haired girl's smile, though it was only on her face a mere second before becoming worrisome once more; Hildie again inquired.
Relena hastily rose out of bed and slipped on her shoes, though still dressed in her shin length cotton gown with long sleeves and a high button-up color. It was the standard night attire for all of the children, boys and girls alike. "I don't know, Hildie, I just know I can't stay here tonight. I have to, get out. Something's going to happen. Don't ask me how, I just know."
The young girl padded her way quietly to the door so as not to wake anymore of the girls. Feeling Hildie's presence she turned to face her. "Hildie, I don't think you should..."
"I can't let you go out there alone, so don't argue with me, okay? And then there's Duo. He'll never forgive us if we go with out him."
Relena sighed somewhat exasperated but glad as well that she had such loyal friends. She only hoped the girl who was like a sister to her and the boy she thought of as a brother more then her blood brother wouldn't get hurt. "Okay, I won't argue."

From his hilltop lookout Milliardo saw the Demon Stalker mounting his horse and begin his way up towards him and his army. He ordered his captain to take a small group of men around and ambush the village from behind, while he would keep this supposed slayer of demons preoccupied.

Meanwhile a trio of friends, to old to be children, yet to young to be adults were slinking their way through the yards of the monastery. The tallest of the trio, a girl, took a running leap, and as if she was running on the air itself she effortlessly scaled the ten-foot high wall. Once on top she threw down a long rope they had stashed there, so that her two friends could climb up it as well.

"So you must be Prince Milliardo, son of Count Peacecraft?"
"He is a king now." Milliardo spoke haughtily as he began to circle his steed around that of the unknown assassin.
Heero turned his horse as well, so that he and the prince and their equines remained face to face with each other. "Oh yes, his new title, just another thing he has stolen. The great, powerful Lord, excuse me, King Peacecraft a mere thief."
Milliardo clenched his jaw at the tenacity of the Stalker, yet he kept his calm. "Better to be a thief, then a warrior whore who sells his body and weapons for profit."
Still facing, they and their horse's circled one another in an awkward waltz as Heero smirked continuing to leer at the young count. "And being who your mother was, you would know a thing or two about whores."
Millardo then lost his cool reserve and charged at Heero with full force and sword raised. The two men's weapons clashed together in a spark of steel on steel, but neither one fell from their horse. After a few more swipes they parted for a minute.
"You are stronger then the other Slayers I have fought, you should be dead by now!"
With a smug look still etched into his features Heero replied. "It is because I am different from all other Slayers!" This time it was him who attacked and once again blades met.

"Reginald told me women were nuts but I never really believed him 'til now." Duo shook his head while he spoke. "It's almost sunrise and you guys got it in your heads there's something gonna happen."
Hildie scrunched her face in anger. "Would you rather have us left you behind?" She saw him shake his head no. "Then stop grippin'.
"I don't gripe I just tell people how it is." So into the disagreement they were having they failed to notice Relena had stopped walking and subsequently ran into her.
"Stop fooling around will you and be quiet I hear something."
The three hunkered down in silence underneath an overhang to the side of the road and within seconds they heard the clomping sound of horse's hooves and marching feet; a deep male voice telling the others with him their exact plan of attack. Once they had gone the trio emerged from their hiding spot.
"Oh my God they're going to attack the village!" Hildie gasped in a loud whisper.
"Why don't you say it louder, I don't think the soldiers could hear you, plus you swore, so don't ever get on my case about it again."
"Then, Duo, I swear I'm gonna clobber you one of these days."
Relena twirled around glaring at both of them. "Don't you two see what this means? If they attack the village our home will be next and I doubt the townspeople have any means to defend themselves."
"Then what do we do oh, wise, leader." Duo huffed, throwing his hands up in the air. "You don't expect us to actually fight them do you?"
A spark lit in Relena's eyes as she placed her hands on her hips. "That, my good sir, is exactly what I have planned to do. Follow me." She twirled back around on one foot and began walking towards the direction of the soldiers.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Hildie smiled wide as she rubbed her hands together and took off after Relena.
Duo groaned somewhat. "Reginald also said women will be the death of all men...hey wait up guys." He huffed again in a quickened space to try and catch up with the two girls.

They broke the lock on each other's swords and once again withdrew, both of them still atop their steeds, though Heero could tell that Milliardo was waning somewhat and with a few more calculated hits he would go down. Just about as Heero was to charge again he heard screams that the army was advancing quickly on the village from the back. "Holy Mother!" Heero cursed as he yanked his horse on it's hind legs and in an almost one hundred, eighty degree turn changed the creature's directions, running the beast full force towards the village.
Milliardo swallowed his desire to laugh aloud knowing now was not the time to get overconfident and sloppy, for the Stalker could still prove quite dangerous. He raised his hand signaling the rest of his army to attack and rode forward ahead of them; the battle cry that roared from his throat could be heard above those of his men.

"Remember, there's only ten of them and only the captain is on horseback. Okay, you two understand my plan?"
"Yea, you'll jump their leader from behind on his horse and while they're distracted me and Duo will jump up from the bushes and begin stoning them."
Duo nibbled his lips nervously as the words Hildie spoke slowly began to sink into his mind. "Your plan is pure insanity Eena. I mean even if we succeed in attacking we will most probably end up getting our throats slit...and I kinda like my throat the way it is."
"Friends for all time, Duo." Hildie frowned at the young man's silence. "Fine. You stay and hide and Eena and I will do this. Besides, you know how strong she is. She'll take the guy out in no time."
Duo curled his fists and shook his head. "No. I'm not leaving either of you and I ain't a coward. I'm in all the way."
Relena smiled and kissed the boy's cheek, a slight pink rosy tint covered his entire face as she spoke. "You're as brave as any knight, Duo."
The brown haired boy shrugged shyly. "Yea, yea, yea, Duo the fearless, that's me." He sighed deeply and raised his head, a devious smile crossing his lips. "Then what are we waiting for? We need to do this before it's to late." He sprinted off ahead of the girls.
Hildie furrowed his brow and twisted her lips. "That boy amazes me sometimes, ya know?"
Relena smiled, her grin wide as she tugged lightly on the other girl's arm motioning for her to move. "You really do like him, don't you?"
Hildie's mouth gapped a little, "You're touched in the head Eena."
"Whatever you say, Hildie."

"Hide all the women and girls and any boy or man able to fight...stand your ground!" Heero yelled the orders as he skidded his horse to a quick halt, once again rearing back the creature.
"But we've hired you to fight for us?" Screamed Korenth.
"Bloody cowards!" Heero growled in his outburst. "Your village is not worthy of saving!"
The Stalker turned his stallion once again and poised his sword in a defensive stance, knowing this fight would take all of his skill. The army only consisted of a small number no more then fifteen, for to bring down a small village with no resistance needed hardly any force at all.
His mind quickly began to form a plan as he looked at both sides of the army. Five were advancing, but the ten ambushing from behind were much closer, just a few feet. He locked his sight on to them to stare them down but his eyes suddenly widened in shock.
He saw a figure dropping from a tree onto the back of the Captain. Then two other figures popped up by the side of the road and began to hurl good-sized rocks at the soldiers. At least three of them dropped immediately while the first figure he saw had promptly knocked the Captain off of his saddle and hit him savagely. The man's body ceased moving and Heero wondered if the man was dead. He watched the stranger begin an attack on another soldier, realizing for the first time, the figure he was watching was a person, no more then marrying age
in nothing more then a night shift. He stood immobile, in shock, but not for long as he felt a heavy weight falling down on the back of his neck causing him to slide off his horse and onto the ground.
He looked up, seeing that it was non other then the prince that had demounted him.
"So it seems our Demon Stalker is not as perceptive as he appears to be." The left corner of Milliardo's lips was curled in a smirk. "Normally, I'd kill you right away, but this time, I think I'll take you back to my father and you can die a slow, agonizing death."
"Mn. Killing me may prove harder then you think for as I stated earlier I am different from any other you have fought."
"I think not." With those words the dark prince sunk his long nails into Heero's throat, piercing his jugular. The half-breed Stalker began gagging on his own blood, fighting desperately for transformation and the added strength he needed.
Milliardo's eyes widened slightly as he saw his foe's eyes begin to turn the slightest bit yellow and his evil smile grow even more menacing looking as fangs slowly inched down below his bottom teeth; he knew then that the Stalker was not just a vampire but half human as well, just like him. No matter. He had killed his own kind before. With a calming grace the vampire prince raised his silver bladed sword in preparation to serve a final strike.

"Eena! Eena! Stop it!" Hildie cried out along with Duo as they stood by and watched their best friend taking on the remaining seven men and killing them, along with the three they had knocked unconscious.
"She's like she was the other day." Hildie whispered.
"What do you mean?" Asked Duo. "Something's wrong! We have to help her!" Hildie reached out but was to late to stop him as he sprinted over to where Relena was. He grabbed her around the arms from behind. "Stop it Eena!"
But his strength was futile against her as she threw him across her shoulder; he slammed down onto the dirt road, conscious but winded. He groaned and slowly opened his eyes to see a blood covered Relena standing over him looking anything but human with her yellowish eyes and veined forehead and neck. She was breathing heavily, a low growling sound coming from her throat as she poised herself to take a deadly blow to her childhood friend. He saw her draw back her fist and noticed her nails were at least two inches long. Though scared out of his wits he was able to find his voice. "Eena! It's me! Duo! Stop!"
He squinted his eyes shut seeing his brief life flash before him, but the expected blow never came. He inched open his eyes to see Relena's fist just barely touching his nose and her eyes and face were back to normal.
"Duo?" She jumped away from him shaking and turned to look at Hildie who had paled with a shocked look of her own. Relena then twirled; unsteady on her feet looking at the fallen, mutilated bodies. She then noticed her own cloths and skin splattered with blood. Had she done this? "I am a demon", she whispered, "I am evil."
Her eyes continued to look around and as she raised them to look forward she saw a man on the ground with another man atop him, hand on his throat, blade raised to strike a deadly blow. Her sea blue orbs scanned both men; she caught her breath as she stared at the flaxen haired man. "Milliardo."
Rage and hate once again took over her body and in a trance controlled by that of blood she picked up a sword of a fallen soldier. She raised the deadly piece of metal above her head.
Hildie had slinked her way over to Duo and was helping him to his feet.
"It's a long story...but, she's...I don't know! She's different."
"One of the father's called her a demon." Duo shook himself out of his shock and hearing a yell of temper both he and Hildie's head turned in the direction of the girl they knew as Eena taking off in a full force run into the village itself.
"If you've forsaken any god then I suggest you make amends to it right now as you will now most certainly meet it!"
"Don't touch him!"
The cry of the unfamiliar voice startled Milliardo before he could administer the final blow. His sword was intercepted with another and he was thrown back stumbling to his knees. As he shook himself out of his daze he felt pain in his left shoulder; the sword that had knocked him off balance had now penetrated his left shoulder. "Who the hell...?" He raised his field of vision and locked onto wide blue eyes filled with anger, eyes that would be the color of his if not for the hint of green. "Is it...you?"
His shock filled mind knew not what to do so he grabbed the girl by the face and flung her to the side where she smashed against the stable door. Extracting the weapon from his shoulder he jumped to his feet and sprung up on his horse ordering his few remaining men to retreat.
On his own power Heero staggered to his feet, clutching his bloody throat, feeling extremely weak. He knew he was far from death but he also knew if he did not drink even a little, it would take to long for him to heal. He looked to the side and down towards the ground seeing the person who had saved him lying there unconscious; he realized that it was in fact, a young girl. "No matter, blood is blood."
