They had ridden the largest part of the day with no further outbursts and now, as it was nearing dark they had finally reached a good-sized village. Entering the streets quietly, they directed their horses to the livery stable, dropping them off and then paying the owner of the stable before walking across the street to the small inn.

"Only I speak, got it?"

"Who passed and made you boss?" Duo quipped which only got him a glare from Relena.

"As much as his arrogance and tactlessness is annoying as hell he does know more about the outside world then we do, so we've no choice but to do as he says on some things."

Heero considered her statement. "Thank you. I think. Now just do as I say."

The quartet then entered the establishment and walked up to the bar.

"How much for two rooms?"

The barkeep of the business was an older man. His body was stick thin, yet he still looked greasy, smelled a bit, and when he smiled you could see that most of his teeth were missing. He eyed Heero up and down briefly, and then Duo but his eyes seemed to not move any further when they rested upon Relena and Hildie. "Two rooms? One hundred, less ya wanna use those two girls as bargaining chips. I think I could get my money worth out of 'em."

"You can't talk that way about my friends!" Duo went to take a step forward, but halted when Heero raised his hand.

"Are you just gonna stand there and let him talk like that about us?" Hildie glared at the back of Heero's head being held back by Relena's tight grasp that she had on her arm.

"I suggest the three of you sit down right now, Heero and I can handle this."

The children turned their heads upon hearing an arrogant masculine voice. Behind them they saw another man with slanted black as coal eyes and even darker hair that graced his face in one length resting just above his shoulders.

"Come on. I suggest we listen to him." Hildie and Duo reluctantly followed Relena and they sat down in a booth across from the bar. Heero and the other man's backs were to them and they saw nothing at first, but a minute or so later they saw a very pale and panic-stricken barkeeper take shaking steps to the wall behind him. When he turned back around his even shakier hand laid the keys into the Stalkers open palm and then one into the black-eyed man's hand. Heero tilted his head in a gesture of thanks. His lips moved some more and the human male swallowed hard and shook his head.

"What do you think he said to him?"

"Whatever it was Hildie, it must have been something real threatening."

"Do we really want to know? I sure don't." Croaked Duo.

Their conversation was interrupted as Heero sat down across from them, along with the other man.

"These aren't all yours are they?" The other man's tone took on that of light hearted seriousness.

"Don't be ridiculous. I'm merely paying back a debt by letting them travel with me awhile. Besides, Wufei, you know how much of a loner I am."

"Being blackmailed by children. How the mighty have fallen." Wufei chuckled at his own joke.

"So your name is Wufei. My name is Relena and these are my friends, Duo and Hildie. Are you a friend of Heero's?"

The raven-haired man smirked. "You could say that. I actually taught him all he knows about the sword."

"That's enough. The less they know about me the better." Heero dug into his pocket and pulled out a silver key and some gold coins, he tossed them on the table. "To your room and some money for food."

Duo furrowed his brow. "How come you get your own room?" Heero rolled his eyes and looked to his side. The youngsters turned their heads to see what it was he was ogling.

There, waiting on another table, yet sneaking glances over to Heero was a thin but busty woman with white blond ringlets and green eyes.

Relena averted her eyes from the woman to look at Heero. She frowned a bit before sliding out of the booth. "I'm suddenly not hungry." She grabbed the key off of the table and headed up the stairs towards the room.

"I'm going with her. Duo, would you be so kind as to bring us up some soup, please?" Before he could protest she was on her way.

"What am I? Their slave?" The chestnut haired boy mumbled.

"Then don't do it. They can get their own soup."

Duo looked up at Heero. "But they are my only friends."

Wufei snorted. "That's pretty pathetic letting those squirrelly girls push you around. In fact, if you want, I'm sure the wench Heero's eyeing has a friend around here that wouldn't mind giving her time and pleasures to a boy, who's never even seen woman naked."

The younger male felt his throat suddenly grow dry. "How do you know if I have not or have?"

"Because it's obvious you can't even handle girls."

Duo looked down at the table. "Pretty obvious, so what?" He then looked back up quickly, his eyes wide. "Are you saying Heero can, get me a girl?"

A chuckled escaped Heero. "Not a girl, a woman. There is nothing like it, I can guarantee you that. Be a man, or at least become one. At your age you should be more familiar then you are."

"I was raised in a monastery with monks."

"Heero raised his brows. "Good point. So, do you want to take me up on my offer?"

Duo's twiddled his thumbs as he stared over at the woman. Her dress was so tight that her cleavage looked as if it was about to pop of the bodice; he found he couldn't take his eyes away from her breasts. Finally when he did, he looked back at Heero. "I may be dumb about some things, but I know what can happen if a man and woman...well...aren't you afraid, ya, know, of babies?"

"So much to learn." Sighed Heero as he dug in his other pocket and set gently on the table a tiny burlap sack. "That is what this is for."

Duo stared down at the bag. "What does it do?"

"It was made by a close friend of mine. It's totally harmless to both parties and the only affect it has on the woman is to her cycles. If it's her time, it merely prevents anything from happening. She never even has to know."

"I think you're scaring the baby boy." Wufei laughed.

"I'm eighteen, well will be in two days, all right, I'm not a baby. In fact, I'm going to take Heero up on his offer."

"But what about your little friends and their soup?" The black haired man mocked.

"I'll get them their soup really quick, then I'll be right back down. Wait for me, please."

Wufei shook his head as Duo took off. "Wager you ten that he'll back out. Unlike you, I think he has morals."

"Morals are highly overrated. Now, Wufei, I need to ask you a big favor."

"You want me to take them off your hands."

"Could you?"

"Why should I?"

"The girl, the blonde, she's like me, lineage wise. She's strong, smart, quick and determined. I think she could be trained easily. The other two maybe they would make a good cook or maid, I don't know but as my oldest friend, I'm asking you to take them. Sally I know won't mind."

Wufei rubbed the back of his neck. "But what about the blonde one? She seems quite taken with you."

"A girlish infatuation."

"Girl, she's at least twenty- one isn't she?"

"I know with a body like hers you think she'd be older, but she's only seventeen, like the boy and the other girl. I figured her vampire side has matured her quicker, though by this time next years she'll cease aging all together. You know she's naïve that she even had the gull to say I was honorable. Shows how little she knows."

Wufei's almond shaped eyes slanted even more as he gave Heero a skeptical glare. "Seems like she's a bit of a foil to you, old friend."

"She's only a pain in my ass so stop looking at me like that. Now, are you going to take the little urchins off my hands or what?"

"Fine. I will."

Heero rose from the booth and placed a hand on Wufei's shoulder. "You are a good friend. Now, I have a green-eyed blonde to attend to."

"Cousin." Treize greeted Milliardo in a brotherly hug. "How have you been?"

Milliardo returned the hug, though it took every ounce of his being to not act on his impulse to choke the very life out of his cousin. "I hear you will be assisting me in finding my sister."

"Well, yes, I am merely here to aid you." His smile was too charming and his words too humble.

'Two can play this game' the young prince thought to himself as he returned the smile. "But, cousin, do you think it's wise for just the two of us to be traveling alone?"

"Well, Milliardo, an army would be to conspicuous and would only slow us down. If we are to find out anything we must be quiet and unassuming, slithering in the grass as do snakes, striking only when we are sure that we can fully subdue the prey we have stalked."

"Snakes?" Milliardo smiled almost too kindly. "Seems fitting you would be so familiar with their natures."

Treize's smiled stiffened somewhat. "Why cousin, it sounds as if you have some hostilities towards me."

Milliardo chuckled covering up his dripping hate. "No, no, I only meant I know you raised them as a child. They were your favorite type of pet."

Treize chuckled as well, "Yes, of course, I do have quite the liking for them. But it is late. I suggest we rest and then leave at first morning's light."

The prince cocked a brow. "But you are of full blood, the sun will kill you?"

"Face me cousin."

Milliardo did his cousin's bidding and faced the other vampire. He watched Treize's fingers stroke along his clavicle and unbuttoned the first two buttons of his shirt. Milliardo looked at his false relative's chest and saw a brand of lone opened eye placed in the center of a half moon and sun.

"One of my sorcerers found this ancient mark that protects our kind from the sun. I had him brand it on me and so far it seems to have worked and so, I can travel in the sun as easily as I can travel in the night. As long as the brand is not distorted in anyway then I am fully protected."

Milliardo raised his eyes up to look into Treize's. "Then it seems as if you are practically invincible."

Treize smiled again, his gaze upon Milliardo smug. "Just do remember that, dear cousin. Of course I mean it will bring us great help in any enemy we may encounter."

"I shall make it a point to not forget, dear cousin. Now, I feel it is time to retire to my room." Milliardo politely bowed.

Treize returned the gesture. "See you in the morn, then."

"Yes, in the morn."
