Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Discovering Magic Within ❯ Chapter 8 ( Chapter 8 )
[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
Here's chapter 8.does anyone even like my story?
Disclaimer-I don't own anything related to Gundam Wing OR any of my magical knowledge. I got all of that from some wonderful books.
Warnings-well, it WAS rated NC-17 for rape but since that is over.... The rating really doesn't apply to this story for another few chapters. There's also a 1+2 pairing and Heero is really really really OOC.

Discovering Magic Within
"Not unless they are dead or are very sick" Duo confirmed, still searching.
"Then we have a problem".
"What?"
"Not a single animal in this barn is standing up".
"Are you serious?" Duo exclaimed, moving to stand up, but Quatre held up a hand to stop him.
"Stay there. I'll check it out. I'm helpless to save Mia but you can" Quatre explained hurriedly, opening a stall door and stepping in. Quatre checked the coal black stallion carefully. It seemed to be unconscious. As he walked around, examining the horse from all angles. "Strange" Quatre muttered, bending down to examine it more closely. The horse had 4 deep scratches across its nose. "This makes no sense" he whispered "unless..." The blonde quickly stood up and ran to the stall wall. Rising on tiptoes, he peered at the horse in the next stall. It had the exact same scratches. "Duo, where does Mia have scratches left?"
Duo sighed and opened his eyes once more. "On her cheek, 4 deep ones" he called back and resumed his search.
"It has the same injuries. That wouldn't be possible unless she had some sort of bond with every animal which means..."Quatre muttered quietly as everything fell into place, "she's the one I've been looking for!" At that same moment, Duo found the spot Quatre had described.
"Um, I found the spot. Now what?" Duo called out uncertainly. The blonde hurried out of the stall to help his friend.
"You've done the first step. That's good. Now try and dig deep into it and pull some light out" Quatre instructed.
"All right" Duo replied, trying to follow the instructions to the best of his ability. "Got it, I think".
"Place your hand over Mia's scratches and try and transfer the light that you grabbed into her skin" Quatre finished. Duo warily placed a hand on the girl's cheek. He struggled with the light, trying to force the raw power into Mia's skin. Just like the light Quatre had emitted, it had a mind of it's own and slipped out from Duo's inexperienced grasp.
"Quatre, it's not working" the braided boy growled.
"You need to relax. You need to have absolute control over your concentration" Quatre urged. "Take a few deep breaths and try again. This time, welcome the power, don't fight it".
Duo sighed tiredly. "I'll try" he muttered. He took a couple of deep breaths as he reached for the untamed magic again. He tried to grab it but it danced away teasingly. 'Come on, won't you help me out?' he pleaded mentally. The magic hesitated for a moment before traveling towards Duo's outstretched hand. 'That's good. Thank you' Duo thought happily, placing a hand over Mia's torn cheek. 'Now could you help me heal my friend?' he asked silently. One more, the magic hesitated. 'What's the problem?'
'Once I help you heal Mia, you must accept me' the magic seemed to say. Duo thought this over.
'So I'll have to accept the fact that I have magic?'
'That's right'
'And if I refuse I can't help Mia?'
'In no way shape or form'
'That leaves me only one choice then. I'll accept you'
'I was hoping you would say that. I will help you heal your friend'
'Thank you'. Duo felt the now familiar feeling of warmness come from his heart and spread to every vein of his body. Quatre could see the light gathering onto Duo's hand.
"That's it!" the blonde whispered excitedly. "Keep it going"
'I am ready' the magic said to Duo.
'All right, heal' Duo thought determinedly forcing every trace of magic he was able to gather and sent it into Mia's body. When he lifted his hand up a few minutes later, the scratches were gone. But Duo's healing also had another effect; the colour had returned to Mia's cheeks and she seemed to be breathing easier.
"I did that?"
"You sure did" Quatre replied cheerfully.
"It talked to me" Duo muttered, staring at his hands in amazement.
"It talked to you?" Quatre repeated. Duo nodded slowly.
"It said that in order to heal Mia, I had to accept the fact that I had magic" he explained, then looked up at Quatre. "Will you teach me?"
"If that's what you want" Quatre replied gently. Again, Duo nodded.
"Yes, but it has to be kept a complete secret and I have a few questions" Duo answered.
"Ask away"
"What kind of magic do you have?" Quatre smiled slightly.
"You are talking to a person that is half wizard and half elf. My father a wizard, my mother an elf"
"Why were you looking for me?"
"Well I found this scroll a few years back that was written in old elven script. I took it to the eldest member of our clan and asked her to teach me the language".
"Well, what did it say?" Duo interrupted.
"I was getting to that. Let's see, the scroll said: One sets out from a lonely place. 3 more will follow at their our pace. The healer is 1st, in due time. The plant is next, completely willing. The animal proved stubborn like their kind. The mix shall bring them together. Powers combined, they shall bring down the sand dweller" Quatre finished. "Then it goes on about something or other. I don't have the skills to translate it".
"Don't have the skills?" Duo repeated tonelessly. "What do you mean you don't have the skills?" Quatre looked away, feeling sad and tired.
"What I mean is that while she was teaching me elven script, something came and attacked our village. I...I was the only one to survive the attack" The mix whispered, on the verge of tears.
Duo couldn't believe his ears. "That doesn't make sense though. You said that male elves were strong and tough warriors. You should have been in the front line of defense! How could you survive?" Quatre blushed profusely.
"That's a different story. I wasn't born a true elf so I have different, um, qualities than others. I have some elf qualities, some wizard and only god knows what else" he mumbled. Duo opened his mouth to speak again but before he could say a word, Quatre spoke up again. "I have no skills as a warrior since my mother was an elf. I was kinda excluded from my clan because of this. Basically they wanted me to leave but my mother wouldn't allow it. When...when that thing came, she forced me to hide and not come out until she came back for me. The screams from outside were bone chilling and horrible. Every scream pierced my heart but eventually they stopped. I thought we had won but I was wrong. Every single member of the clan was murdered" Quatre explained softly.
"That's horrible!" Duo cried. Quatre shook his head.
"There's more. My mother was still alive but only by a thread". Quatre's vision became blurry as his eyes overflowed with tears.

"Mama!" a younger Quatre cried out, running over to his mother's side. The beautiful elf smiled, happy to see her son's face one last time before she passed away.
"My son, you must be strong" she mumbled. Quatre blinked away his tears.
"Hang on mama! I'll help you!" he sniffled, preparing to heal but the dying elf shook her head.
"You must leave here, that thing could be back at any moment. It hunts elves. Just remember that I love you and so does your father. We are both so proud of you. Live on for us. Go seek the others" those were her final words before her twinkling crystal blue eyes closed for the last time.
"Mama!" Quatre cried out mournfully, tears coursing down his pale cheeks. "Don't leave me alone mama! Please!"
*~* end flashback*~*
"That's what happened. I should have died with them. Now this thing is hunting me". Quatre hurriedly wiped away his tears.
Duo moved closer to Quatre. "I'm sorry. I had no idea" he whispered. Quatre finished wiping the last of his tears away.
"I just miss them so much" the mix mumbled. Then he looked up at his new pupil. "We better get to sleep. You have got a long day ahead of you tomorrow". Duo nodded wearily and then went to go curl up on the hay beside his little brother. The moment his head his the hay, he was fast asleep. Quatre glanced over at Mia and sighed. 'I have another long fight ahead of me if I have to convince her of her magic' he thought tiredly. Making sure that the quilt was pulled tight over her, Quatre found his own patch of hay and also fell asleep.

Duo awoke to the feeling of the sun shinning on his tanned face. He was so tired; he could just fall back asleep again. The persistent sun, however, had other ideas. It continued to shine down unmercifully on the braided boy. Something finally clicked in his brain that it was morning...and he had promised to meet Heero in the morning. Duo bolted upright. He saw that Solo, Mia and Quatre were still fast asleep and he knew his father would be unconscious for the rest of the day at least. Getting up quietly, Duo found his T-shirt and put it on. He excited the barn and walked into the forest.
*~*
Heero was sitting on the edge of the ridge, letting his feet dangle over the edge. 'Duo's late' he mused silently. 'Figures'. A cool breeze blew by, ruffling Heero's unruly hair. He shivered slightly. Something didn't feel right. Duo had never been this late before. 'I hope he's okay...'he thought worriedly. Heero stood up and turned around to walk back into the forest. He was about to take a step when he felt the ground shift under his feet. The next thing Heero felt was the ground completely give way and he tumbled down the cliff.
