Chapter #2: The Mall Nightmare

The next day the girls took the guys shopping, their van could fit all nine of them, the guys were looking out the windows at the world outside, Jessica's father didn't ask many questions when she asked him to foreword five thousand hard cash to her bank account. "Girls this is really nice of you, you don't have to do this for us," Quatre spoke from the back of the van. "No sweat Q-man, my dad is a surgeon, he makes fifty thousand a month, there is no problem with him letting me have some of that," Jessica spoke up, pulling the van into the parking lot, the van was state of the art, with a TV, a DVD, and air conditions, as well as surround sound, on the outside it was shining blood red, just like the girls liked it, nice and flashy. "Ok people we're here, you guys can pick out any outfits you like, and keep in mind, you don't want to stick out too much, it's bad enough Duo sticks out like a black bear in the tundra with that braid," Jessica said. "Hey! I resent that," Duo puffed out and began pouting. The inhabitants of the car laughed, all except Heero and Wufei, Trowa just grinned slightly. The inhabitants shuffled out and the girls locked the van and put up the alarm on it, this van was flashy, it stuck out like an iceberg would stick out in the middle of the tropics.

The nine of them entered the mall, immediately some teen girls by the pay phones noticed the guys. The girls looked their way and groaned, Carol and Mimi, two gossip millers from school, they only arrived and it is already turning out bad. "Ok guys, common," Sage motioned them foreword.

Meanwhile… "Hey wasn't that Jessica and her bratty, prissy, friends with all the extra cash, it's bad enough I have to like… work to get what they have, but did you see those five hunks with them?" Carol told Mimi, the blonde beside her nodded, "Never mind them, those five only saw the tip of the iceberg, what they have in money… we have in looks, aint that right Carol?" Carol just nodded, the two continued to watch the group until they vanished from view, then they pulled out their cell-phones and gone on notifying the whole rumor mill about new arrivals on the block, as well as gossiping as to how these four girls could know them before the whole school did, after all, weren't they amazons? Not supposed to be interested in guys at all?

The girls meanwhile led the guys to the shops, their eyes widened at the prices of the clothing in this store. "Go on guys, we will help you if you need our help." The girls followed the guys wherever they went, and soon enough the shopping cart was beginning to fill up. Duo was a bit disappointed that all the cool Nike shoes were in white, but when Sage pulled out the very expensive Red/black Jordans he was all too happy to buy a pair, it wasn't too hard to figure out their sizes.

The girls laughed a few times as the guys couldn't decide what they wanted but soon enough it was settled. The cashier nearly lost balance when they wheeled in a full, barely holding shopping cart. The girls threw in a few things for themselves while they were at it. The clothing was split into bags according to who brought what, and the guys carried their own bags, to everyone who looked, it looked like the guys were in fact carrying the girl's bags, whoever in their right mind thought that guys went out on shopping sprees anyways. Next on the list was the local school store for uniforms, earlier that day the guys already filled out their applications for school online, and did a small online test to decide on their level, undoubtedly all five have aced them, but it was minor issues, or At least Heero would get 100% on it, after all, the girls got a hundred and they were no near as technologically advanced as the guys.

Next on the shopping list were school supplies. Soon enough the bag each they were carrying turned into two bags, because they guys were very methodical with choosing their supplies, they wanted to be ready for everything and anything. Quatre still felt uncomfortable wasting other's money when he had so much of his own back at home, there was a thought, and ever since he arrived he didn't think much about what was happening back home. He knew that there was no war, but would people miss them? He just wasn't too sure.

As they exited the store Carol and Mimi appeared, "Evening Jessica, Sage, Amber, Mandy," they said in a rather monotonous voice. "Evening boys," the two girls batted the eyelashes at them, Wufei snorted and looked away. Heero did the same; Duo raised an eyebrow at them but didn't say a word besides a courteous 'Evening'. Quatre looked over the girls, "Good Evening," he spoke politely. Trowa just nodded, something struck him odd with these two girls. "Common guys, we have other things to do then hang out here…" Jessica barely held back the wise comments about Carol and Mimi, the annoying copycats that they were; they did everything together, annoyingly everything, even spoke sometimes in unison.

"Well aren't you going to introduce us to these five cuties?" Carol asked. Sage cringed slightly. "Would love to, but they got girlfriends to attend to, we just showing them around, they just moved in, and we're being nice neighbors," Jessica motioned the guys to follow and they did so. "Girlfriends?" Trowa asked. "I don't need a woman," Wufei added. "That's Carol and Mimi, the rumor mill of the entire school, believe me, I saved your hides… they don't do boyfriend stealing, and should they so much get a whiff that you are single, the entire school will know in twenty four, twelve, considering you five," Jessica told them. The guys thought back, so far life did seem more complex here, they were sure it was only the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

Carol and Mimi watched them go, "Damn, and here I thought those five were single, they looked like they were, the one with the braid is cute, strange but cute," Mimi told Carol, Carol frowned, "I don't know, I kind of like the one with the deep blue eyes, he kind of looks Japanese, but he's cute anyways, I'd sure love to hook up with him, and the Blondie is cute too, he looks like a real sweetheart," she added.

The ride home was a quiet one, the guys were still looking out the window at the wonders of this world, cars ran trough the streets like rivers, and people on the streets were going on about their lives. Duo was watching TV trough their in-car system and the digital satellite cable in the car.

"Guys check this out, the news!" The guys all turned to the screen, horrified at what they saw, a war, the broadcast was about people fighting somewhere in the world. "You have wars in your time?" Heero asked. "Unfortunately, yes… but don't think you five will go fighting, you will be killed very quickly," Jessica said. Sage was now driving and Jessica sat between Duo and Trowa so that Heero could have the front seat like he wanted.

"I wasn't planning on it, this war has nothing to do with us," Heero replied. "Just what is this war about? It sure doesn't seem fair, these countries are attacking a defenseless country which practically has no means to retaliate," Trowa was watching the screen perplexed. "They weren't so defenseless when they plowed two planes into buildings causing thousands to die," Jessica snorted, she was watching the screen in disgust. "Terrorist strike?" Heero asked. "You got it, they get what they deserve," Mandy spoke up from the very back of the van. "That's awful," Quatre, voiced over, he was shocked. "But that's just how life is now," Amber who was sitting next to the blond pilot replied. "Now can we stop talking about that, it makes me feel awful," Sage said coolly. "Same here," Jessica chorused.

The conversation stopped and Duo turned the channel to watch a nature show instead. "Hey sage, you think we could stop trough the Burger King drive though? My stomach is growling," Jessica complained. "Burgers? Did someone say burgers?" Duo immediately was his buoyant self. Sage spotted a drive though and made a turn, soon they were ordering.

As they got their food Jessica raised a small flat of cloth on the back of the seat before them, she opened small tables, like those on a plane, except they also had a cup holder in them as a bonus feature. "Keep drinks on there people," the guys were amused, this car just had everything in it. "This car was custom made, that's what you get when your grandparents left you with fifty million as your inheritance," Sage said in a proud tone. Duo was already halfway trough his giant whopper, "Babes you're the best," he said after swallowing a bite. "Thanks Duo, and don't call us 'babes', we don't like that," Amber spoke for all the girls. "I second that," Jessica added. "Third," came Mandy's voice. "Majority rules," Sage added. Laughter erupted from the girls; Duo just smiled and resumed eating his whooper.

"Not fair… I specified orange fizzy! They gave me coke. With ice too!' Jessica whined, smartly avoiding using the word 'injustice' around Wufei. "I have orange without ice, you can have mine," Trowa exchanged with Jessica, "Thank you Trowa," she calmed down and drunk her fizzy with her fries. "Why can't you drink with ice?" Duo asked. "Ice melts, it dilutes the drink, coke tastes yucky when it is diluted, as they do dilute it enough already, half the stuff they pour into your cup is water, the real coke is like sixty percent of the cup, drop it down to fifty and it turns nasty," Jessica explained. "Onnas, always worrying about petty things," Wufei stated calmly. "I swear Wufei, if I didn't love this fizzy as much as I love it, it would be on your head," Jessica added. The girls laughed, only the girls knew why that fizzy was also her 'favorite' at the moment.

They arrived home in a cheery mood, the laughter in the car didn't stop the whole way, normally the girls also played music, but they doubted the guys would like that, so they continued to have fun otherwise. The boys went up to the attic to put their new stuff in order, the attic was ordered into a room with some new furniture as well as makeshift curtains around the beds the guys made using rope, blankets, conventional curtains, and any other large piece of fabric they could find around the house, all around the attic was large enough to give each of them some privacy.

The girls were meanwhile in the living room talking, "You do know that that fizzy thing, could be considered a form of flirting," Mandy began. "Sure blame me, what can I say, he's a sweetheart," Jessica tinted a bit pink but quickly shoved it back. "Oh well, I'm hitting the sack," Jessica made record-breaking time leaving the room, she didn't want to be bugged by her friends, it was hard enough as it is to keep a straight face, voice, and professional manners around Trowa. 'This will be hell…' she thought idly.
