Nyloc sighed softly, tugging the blanket tighter about her, closing her eyes and snuggling closer to the fire. She smiled softly, content for the moment, hot cocoa and Nyverna's diary at her side, no one to disturb her. She yawned, and reached for the leather bound book, staring at if for a moment, tracing the golden engravings on the front. She bit her lip thinking of all the people who had honestly mistaken her for Nyverna that night, and how many more times she would have to lie in this girl's name. She opened the book to the last place she had stopped, pulling the book mark out and leaving it by her hot cocoa.

December 24th, AC 214
We're going to another ball tonight! And Seben will be there, so we will get to spend our Christmas Eve together, just like we promised! Its funny how he's changed my opinion of balls quite a bit, but I can't help it. Seldom outside of balls do I get to see him, and even then we have to be somewhat discreet, lest our names be connected and then my parents will be sure to never let me see him again. I don't think I could bare it if that had happened. I love him so much. Many would venture to say that I'm to young to understand such things…but they don't understand how I feel about Seben. Every time even the possibility of seeing him comes up, I'm excited about it for days, and when I can't I cry for just as many. When we're together…its enough…even when we're at balls and he's on the other side of the room talking to another politician's daughter…its enough…and I know he only has eyes for me. When he smiles at me…my stomach does flip flop and my heart feels like its being squeezed…I know I sound like a mushy teenage romance novel-

`Believe me' Laughed Nyloc to herself. `You do.'

But all the same…I can't stop what I feel…I don't know what I'll do if Mother and Father won't let us be together…honestly, I feel no remorse for hiding this from them, since there are so many things they've lied to and hidden from me, so its not that, that bothers me. Its that I have so little time to spend with him, and when I do, I have to pay mind that they don't find out. It bothers me the most because I have to hide my relationship with the only person I believe has ever truly loved me, and not in namesake only. I'm laughing at myself now as I read what I have just written. I'm such a fool, and I'm making myself depressed. I swear I normally do not sound like this…Seben…what strange things you do to me, and you don't even realize it!

Nyverna

Nyloc sighed and shut the book for a moment. The young woman certainly sound like she was in love, and from Seben's reactions to talking about her and just thinking about her, she had no doubt that he loved her equally as much, and hadn't stopped since the day he had found out she was dead. She placed the book by her side again and took a sip of her hot cocoa. How was she supposed to replicate that? How was she supposed to replicate any of it? For Seben it was easy enough, just pretend to be looking at Nyverna, and once again he was in love.

“I doubt I could ever love him like you did…but…I'll try to pass on your love to him…I'm sure he knew…but maybe this'll remind him.” She spoke to the book in a hushed tone, as if she were talking to Nyverna herself.

“What're you reading?” Nyloc jumped, dropping the book in her hand, to see the said man standing in her doorway.

“Nyverna's diary.” She murmured, brushing a stray lock of brown hair from her face, and tucking it behind her ear. Seben stood frozen, staring at the floor before her, oblivious to her previous statement, or so she assumed. “Seben, wha-“ She followed his gaze and gasped. The diary was open to one of the last few pages. There was very little writing on it, and the last word seemed to have been stopped half way through, a pen line trailing from it to one of the corners.

But that wasn't what transfixed either persons in the room.

It was the blood stains that spattered the pages.

Nyloc was finally able to draw in a breath, choking on the one she exhaled. She scrambled for the diary, clamping it shut and placing it on the nightstand as she stood.

“M-Maybe you should leave.” She mumbled, moving a step towards him.

“What…what was that?” He demanded in a gruff voice, obviously pained.

“I…I haven't gotten that far Seben. All I can say is that…”She paused, bringing her eyes to stare at his and she swallowed. “I think it was the last page she ever wrote.” She coughed slightly, before reaching for her door. “Like I said, you should go.”

“No. I want to know what she was writing.”

“Seben! Please just go now!”

“Damn it! Give me the diary! I deserve to know at least!”

“Don't you get it? I'm trying to protect you!”

“Protect me from what?!”

“The same pain I see in your eyes every day when Nyverna comes up, or I walk in a room! That's what!” Nyloc gasped as he backed her up against the wall, anger radiating off of him.

“WHAT THE HELL WOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT MY PAIN?!”

Nyloc slumped to the floor in a scared stupor, Seben's footsteps echoing down the hallway. She held her forehead in her hands as tears of fear and anger came forth.

Sally sighed and rubbed her temples. What was it about this girl that she left so many secrets in her wake? She had been trying for hours to decipher the brain waves that had been transmitted to the computer system until Nyloc had been disconnected from the machine, once again recognizing the irregular reactions at certain points. The forty-something, almost fifty doctor had since then moved on the recording of the simulation that machine had been recording - and she had just hit nothing but snow.

She reached for the off button when an odd noise caught her attention. She turned back around and listened closely. Her eye brow quirked up. It sounded like someone was…sobbing?

Slowly the crying became louder and louder until Sally could make out the words.

“No! No! God stop it please! Get out! It hurts! I'm begging you! Please stop! No!!!”

Sally glanced quickly at the print out of the brain waves and back at the screen, the wailing voice matching up exactly with the irregular brain waves that had come from Nyverna.

“Found something of interest Sally?” Zechs and her husband both stood in the doorway, but walked closer to see what she was so engrossed with.

“I want you two to listen to this and tell me two things. Who does it sound like to you, and what does it sound like is happening…or rather happened.” She hit the play button as both men nodded, and once again the sobs played through the machine's speakers.

“No! No! God stop it please! Get out! It hurts! I'm begging you! Please stop! No!!!”

Zechs's jaw tightened and fist clenched at his side. “I've heard cries like that once and only once…she was raped.”

Wufei frowned heavily at the snow filled screen. “I've never had to listen to someone be raped…but I was able to discern one thing.”

Both Sally and Zechs turned to look at Wufei. “What?” Sally asked her husband.

“That was most definitely Nyloc's voice.”

Nyloc sighed blissfully as she rolled over in thick silk comforters that clad `her' bed, smiling as they almost swallowed her up. `Perfect' She thought. `Nothing to do today…and no one to distu-`

“What was it like?”

Nyloc jumped upright at the little girl that sat their staring her with piqued interest. Her hair was long, pulled back in the same fashion of Relena's, but bore the tell tale sign that she was Zech's child in the color of her hair, which was platinum blonde. Just about the only thing that separated her from Seben's looks was the fact that she had Noin's facial complexion and eyes.

“Uhm…”

“What's death like?” Nyloc stared at the little girl and pushed herself up against the back board, very confused. Her dark blue eyes filled with hurt. “You…you don't remember me Nyverna? You always let me call you Ny-Ny, and you always used to play with me when you could, and you were so pretty when you laughed…and…you always seemed to smile even more when my brother was around.”

The girl's eyes started to water and her tears started to fall on the comforter beneath her. Nyloc scooted forward and wrapped the child in an embrace, who reciprocated the gesture, even tighter.

`Maybe…Maybe this once wouldn't be so bad…'

“Adele? Adele where are you?” Seben's voice echoed down the halls.

“Adele's in here with me Seben.” Nyloc called.

He walked into the room, first his features tightly draw, but then softened to a small, sad smile. He looked over to Nyverna who mouthed to him Nyverna.

“Why don't you go along and play with Alex and Elena? They've been looking for you all morning.” He crouched beside his younger sister.

“But…But what if Ny-Ny disappears again?” She asked, tears still in her eyes.

Nyloc smiled and leaned down, whipping the tears from the little girls eyes. “I think your brother needs to talk to me, why don't you go play with your friends? I promise I'll still be here and then you can remind me of all the games we used to play.”

The little girl looked up and smiled the brightest smile Nyloc had to have ever seen on such a small girl before dashing out of the room.

Seben chuckled. “She's something isn't she?”

Nyloc smiled and giggled. “Yeah. She's adorable.”

Seben sat down on the edge of the bed. “You…you even sound just like her…That's…that's something she would say.” He sighed.

Nyloc frowned and bit her lip. “Seben…really…I am sorry.” She reached out and touched his shoulder. He let his opposite hand come up and clasp her hand, making sure it didn't leave its spot on his body.

“You've nothing to be sorry for Nyloc…none of this is your fault…and I think I have fully come to terms with that. That's why I came. To say I'm sorry.”

Nyloc nodded slowly and moved her hand from Seben's shoulder. “Morning Zecen.” She yawned, as her said friend walked by the room. While the girl stretched, getting out the morning kinks, her black haired friend walked into the room and took the opportunity to glare daggers at a very confused Seben, before he turned back to his friend.

“Morning. You look like you slept well. Anaoi and Elva were driving me insane. Sifir ditched me so he didn't have to deal with them and they were pacing holes into the ground with how worried they were over you. You really should go tell them you're okay.”

Nyloc nodded and noted her thanks before shuffling both men out of the room so she could change, slamming the door in both their faces.

“She's an oddball that's for sure.” Seben remarked. The blond haired man jammed his hands his pockets and began down the corridor, whistling softly.

“You're disgusting.” Zecen ground out.

Seben turned to face the black haired man. “And how might that be?”

“You're using her that's what!” He spat.

“And isn't she using me as well?” Seben asked.

“Not for selfish intentions, no! And besides! You're the one coming onto her! I saw your to in the library that day! She's not like that! You're manipulating her to your own wants and needs, only to be discarded when you don't need her anymore! I knew you were a whore from the first day we came here!”

“Me coming onto her?! She kissed me first! And we were practicing for the announcement ball! Stop assuming things when you don't know jack shit!”

“And you expect me to believe what I saw was acting?!”

Yes I do!”

“Aren't you just so full of it Mr. Prince!”

“Oh now you've done it you mutt!”

Seben launched at Zecen, tackling him into the main foyer, and both started to roll down the main staircase.

“For one! I am not a man whore!” He launched a punch, which Zecen barely dodged, only to be rewarded with a swift kick to the gut.

“And what's two?”

“I'm not a liar!” Seben jumped up, grasping Zecen by the shoulders and pinned him to the floor, almost knocking him out with the impact. “The next time you so easily let out a comment like that, I suggest you be prepared to deal with the consequences.”

“Who said I wasn't?” Zecen growled, pushing Seben off of him.

“What the hell is going on here?!” Nyloc demanded, running between the two men. She glared at both. “I don't care who started it you're acting like a couple of jackasses!” Nyloc growled under her breath and stormed off down the lower staircase.

“Niiiiiice one guys! Now she's going to be pissed off for the whole flippin' day. Thaaaaaaaaanks! Now do us all a favor and get lost or she'll really have a fit.” Elva snorted from the corner.

“Stay out of it!” Both shouted at the same time, before the blonde walked off laughing at the two humiliated men.

“Getting bored Tio?”

“A little. `bit antsy since the ol' man didn't let me out on the last battle run.”

“Your father would kill you if he heard you called him that.” Wufei chuckled.

Tio shrugged and walked further into the room. “You got any new missions for me Uncle Wuffie?”

“You know I might save Duo the trouble, and just get rid of you now.”

Tio laughed at the normally stoic man's joke. “Yeah, yeah…but then you wouldn't have anyone to do your dirty work.”

“And your father still isn't very happy about it.”

“And since when have you cared about what made my father happy? I've heard that you've tried to kill him back in the OZ days.”

“Hn.” Wufei mumbled, shoving a paper in his face. Tio laughed and took it from him. “That's your next target. And don't go all soft on me this time and leave behind witnesses. The press would have a field day if they found out the son of a former Gundam pilot was still in the assassination business.”

“Righto.” Tio saluted and walked from the room in a mocking manner.

Wufei groaned and resumed tapping on his computer. “I told them we should have neutered Maxwell long ago.”

Tio glanced at his watch, continuing down the street, other hand in his back pocket. Howard had arranged for one of his `friends' to meet him nearby with some presents for his latest assignment.

“Man Tio, you sure know how to pic' `em.”

The brunette turned his head over his shoulder and smiled cockily, a shinning image of his father. “Of course, I go after none but the best.”

“Yeah but this is going to be one hell of a job to pull off.”

“What can I say Nico my friend?” Tio winked. “I like my challenges.”

Nico chuckled. “Yeah sure asshole, just don't get yourself killed, or the girls will be crying for weeks.” The two started off in the direction of a blue pickup truck, as Tio laughed. “Still man…damn…Graf Heilemann.* He's one of Vaulken's highest donaters as far as money goes. He's backed him up from the beginning. Not to mention he's got huge political ties all throughout Europe because of financial connections. Hell, he's probably the only reason Vaulken got elected in the first place. Probably has a lot to do with backing the current rebellion.”

Tio strode up the truck and opened the passenger door, slipping on black gloves and grabbing a silver suitcase from the seat. “No doubt. Which is why I need to get rid of him. If he knows the real fiancé is dead, he's hopefully smart enough to keep his mouth shut, lest he run the risk as an accessory to murder…but I'm there just to make sure he's not.”

“Remember what I said!” Nico called as the brunette jaunted off. “Don't die or the girl's in the red light district will be missing their favorite man whore!” He joked. Tio turned around, winked, and flashed him the thumbs up sign before running off around the corner. Nico sighed and hopped back in the truck, starting up the engine.

Click.

“Man this guy ain't half as guarded as he'd like to think he is.” Tio sighed, pushing open the heating grate. In one swift movement he swung himself from the ventilation system, landing on the floor with catlike grace.

A computer sat along the opposite wall, surrounded by many models of prototype Gundams and legal documents. “Sorry old man, hope you don't mind me stealing some of your secrets before I get rid of ya.” Tio leaned over and popped a micro disc into the computer, quickly stuffing papers into his silver briefcase as the disc auto downloaded all the computer's contents. “Thaaaaaaaaank you, I'm sure this'll come in hand.” Tio smirked, collecting his disc and moving out of the room. “And now onto business.”

“You there! Stop!” A guard yelled from the doorway.

Tio smirked and pulled a grenade out, yanking the pin out with his teeth, and throwing it at the guards, a loud explosion announcing his arrival. “I don't think so boys. I've got a schedule to keep.”

“Move quickly! There's a spy in the information base!”

“A spy huh? That's all you think I am? That makes my job to easy.” He heisted himself up into the ventilation system, shutting the grate behind him.

“Find the sp! There's valuable information on that computer! Where are the guards who were on duty?!”

Tio continued to crawl silently away from the guards, and the sound of their panicked cries faded away, signaling he was getting closer to his target. He slid from the grate again, this time leaving him standing in Graf Heilmann's suite. He set his briefcase on the table, flicking open the locks.

“So what should I use this time?” Tio asked himself as he searched through the case for an appropriate weapon of choice. He smirked in the darkness at the weapon grasped in his hand. “This should do.”

“…Early this morning Graf Heilmann was found dead in his local mansion, shortly after the guards were notified of what they assumed was a hacker after files on Heilmann's computer. The underestimation proved to be their fatal mistake. The only two witnesses to the assassin's identity, were also found dead due to a large grenade explosion that alerted the officials, but also put all camera's in the vicinity offline. Police will not reveal any specific details, however they say that just like the other recent political assignations, the murder styles are all completely different, but all persons have political relations one way or another to the late Foreign Minister Vaulken. Ms. Nyverna Vaulken could not be reached for comment, however Police Reports promise to update-“

Wufei quickly pressed the mute button and glanced at Tio, who was grinning like a Chesire Cat.

“Heh heh, so how's that for efficient Uncle Wuffie? I think the idea of using a different technique every time is really paying off, what about you?”

The older man groaned and massaged his forehead with his fingertips. “I deposited the payment in your account.”

“You might want to add a little bit more…if you want theses that is.” Tio said, holding up the mircodisc and files from Heilmann's desk. “I heard them say this was very valuable information, and I'm sure it would reveal just how deep in it Heilmann was.”

Wufei grunted, and glared at Duo's miniature. “How much do you want Maxwell?”

“20,000”

“8,000”

“18,000”

“12,000”

“15,000.”

Wufei glowered at Tio but consented. “Fine. I'll add 15,000. Now give those to me , so I can send them to Sally for analysis.”

Tio handed his `uncle the papers and chuckled. “Aww Uncle Wuffie, don't be so stressed.”

“Its hard not to be when you're going to be the one to give me grays.” He grumbled.

“Tio stop bothering your Uncle.” A very pregnant Hilde laughed.

Both men froze, praying that the raven haired woman hadn't hear their conversation. She still remained blissfully unaware of Tio's exploits as an assassin

“Mother!” Tio exclaimed and moved towards her. “Shouldn't you be lying down? I want my baby brother or sister come out perfectly healthy.”

Hilde scowled lovingly at her son, hand resting on her belly. “You sound just like your father. And quite frankly I'm sick of it. I've carried 5 healthy children before and I'm not going to break.”

“Lord help us. I think we need to neuter your husband. He needs to stop impregnating you. We have enough little hims running around.” Wufei said, trying to hide the papers behind his back.

“Well…I guess since you're feeling fine, you wouldn't mind taking a walk with me Mother?”

“You haven't asked me that since you were a little boy!” Hilde cooed. “Of course I will.”

The two left the room and Wufei let out a sigh of relief. Woman or not, Hilde was frightening when she was angry, he had learned the hard way…and that had been with out the fragile hormones.

“So you sent him out on a little job last night huh?”

Wufei grunted and returned to sending Sally the files, as his oh-so-favorite braided baka entered the room.

“Yes, although he did create quite a ruckus - not surprising considering his father is.”

“Ahh Wu-man I'm touched!”

“Don't you have better things to do than bug me Maxwell?”

Duo shrugged and plopped down on the couch behind him. “Its more of a question of do I want to do it.”

“If I threatened to neuter you, would that start your motivation?”

Duo laughed and stood, one hand on his hip, the other behind his head. “I get it, I get it…I'll leave you to your work.”

Wufei smirked as Duo went off to find his wife and oldest child. “I would what he'd say if he knew I was serious….”

Nyloc groaned at the soft knocking at her door that roused her from sweet slumber. “Coming!” She yawned, tossing back the covers and vainly running her hand through her hair in an attempt to soothe her bead head. “Dr. Chang?”

Sally smiled at the younger girl, whose face was plastered with confusion to her sudden and early visit. “I think there's something we need to talk about.” Nyloc nodded and opened her door farther for Sally to walk in, and both made their way to the room adjoining her sleeping quarters that was named the `tea suite', of which Nyloc had yet to make use of.

“About what?” She asked timidly, afraid to know the answer.

Sally sat in the chair opposite her and sighed for a moment. “Its about the last testing session you had…I picked up abnormal brain waves again.”

“Yes…and you said this before…so what difference does it make?”

“It was just brain waves. Your mind was replaying memories. We couldn't see anything but we could hear what sounded like your voice…screaming.”

Nyloc's blue eyes widened in disbelief at the doctor, her body freezing in movements. “W-What are you saying?” She managed to gasp out.

“I need you to tell me why.”

Nyloc glowered at her in anger. “What difference is it to you? I'm sick of all these people acting like they care about me, when we all know very well that I'm just some tool of yours to fight a war! Why should you care?!” She yelled, standing in outrage, the chair falling to the floor behind her.

“For one thing your wrong. We all care about you, and whether or not you choose to believe it, the five of you have grown on us. For a second thing it affects all of us because you're obviously not over it, and lastly we cannot guarantee what mental outbreaks there may or may not be during a battle. Pilots have been known to go crazy due to overpowering memories and certain Gundam systems.” Sally paused for a moment watching Nyloc process the information. “I want to help you and I also need to figure out how to keep you safe when piloting the Epyon.”

The younger girl turned and looked at Sally, her resolve quickly disappearing as her hands began to shake. She sighed and shoulder slumped, acting like a dejected prisoner, finally broken by torture. “What do you want to know?”

“Nyloc please…I'm not trying to cruel or make you relive things you don't want to just for own enjoyment…just tell me, what happened…and when?”

“He…I didn't want it! What could I have done wrong to make him think that! I don't understand! I did all the right things! I didn't shower! I didn't brush my teeth! I didn't do anything! I went straight to the police!” The tears fell swiftly from her cheeks. “As it turned out, goddamned bastard was a police officer himself! He was in good with somebody, and they wouldn't arrest him! Said I couldn't prove anything!” Nyloc pounded her fists down swiftly down on the table.

Sally stared at her sadly, placing her hand on her head. “He raped you didn't he?” Nyloc's muffled sobs, answering her with a yes. “Do your cousins or friends know?” The young girl shook her head into the table, lifting it a little so Sally could clearly hear her sentence.

“I couldn't…I couldn't bare for them to think less of me. I don't know what I'd do…and Sifir would be likely to go into a mad rampage and try and kill him! I didn't….I didn't want to mess anyone else's lives up because of mine.” She whispered.

Sally stared in absolute shock at the girl who had since ceased crying, and seemed more intent at staring helplessly at the table, as if it had the answers to all her problems.

`For once…I don't know what to say…' She sighed to herself.

Seben stood frozen outside of Nyloc's doorway, not daring to enter, his eyes wide with shock.

`R-raped?' His hands clenched at his sides. `I'll rip the bastard limb from limb!'

`Oh Really Seben? And how do you intend to do that? Considering she's not fromhere? Not to mention she'd probably be mortifiedif she knew you heard that. And since when have you cared about her anyway?'

`Who ever said I did?!'

`Would you give so much as a rat's ass if it were her cousin or friend?'

`What do you mean? Of course I would feel bad for them!'

`But you wouldn't threaten to `rip the bastard limb from limb', now would you?'

`Urrrgh! Just shut up damn it! Who the hell ever asked you?'

`You don't have to. I'm your conscience. This is the kinda shit they put me here for.'

“Seben…you can stop hiding and come in here.” Sally's soft voice interrupted the battle between Seben and his conscience. The platinum blonde sighed and turned the doorknob softly, entering the room and striding back to the corner where the two women sat at the table. Nyloc stared over Sally's shoulder at the wall. Her face was pale and emotionless, her normally bright blue eyes just as dull. Her tiny hands clutched at the night gown material that fell over her thighs as if they were her last hold on sanity. Seben stared absently at the empty space between the two women, unsure of what to say.

“I don't want your pity if that's what you came in here for.” Nyloc murmured.

“I didn't-“ She whipped around to face him, her blue eyes burning fiercely.

“Those eyes! I don't want that look! That's why I didn't- Don't look at me like that!”

“Nyloc! Calm down! This is the instability I was talking about!” Sally stated. The brunette froze, shrinking back in her chair, silence once again claiming the moment. Sally sighed and rubbed her temples. “I need to go reconfigure some of your Gundam's systems…why don't you two go take a walk and cool down.” The doctor stood, not waiting for an answer, and left the room, heading for the laboratory.

Nyloc stared at her lap, refusing to meet Seben's gaze. The platinum haired man bent down, resting one hand on his knee, while extending the other towards her, blocking her line of vision.

She slowly lifted her head to stare at him, then made a quick glance back at his hand before taking his offer. She was quickly pulled into his chest, surrounded by his warmth and strength, his presence offering her a million apologies for his rash actions in the past. She nodded into his shoulder, letting him know she understood and accepted, as both headed for the door and down the hallway that would lead them outdoors in solitude, Seben's arm wrapped around Nyloc's shoulders, her head on his own.
