Faith By Computer
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Heero growled in annoyance. His computer froze and nothing was working to shut it down. Nothing short of unplugging it that is. He pushed 'Alt', 'Ctrl', 'Delete' once again. Nothing happened.
"I hate you." Heero grumbled to his computer. The screen began to flash slightly and his mousemoved. "No I take that back. I love you." Then his computer screen went blank and the back of it began to smoke. "Nope I defiantly HATE YOU!" Heero took his keyboard and threw it against the wall. A resounding crack made him realize that what he just did may have been a bad idea. Looking in the direction he'd thrown the keyboard, Heero found it lying on the floor, broken beyond repair. He looked at the blank screen again. "Yep I hate you."
Sighing in resignation, there was no way he could fix this on his own. Getting up, he went in search of his phone book. He needed a computer technician. Going through the yellow pages, he began looking through the computer repairs section.
"I am not going there again. No, nope, nuh uh, hm this place looks interesting. 'Maxwell's Repairs'." 'I'll stop by tomorrow with my computer,' Heero thought. He continued to read the add, the motto read, 'If I can't fix it, no one can.' "Hn he seems quite confident about his abilities. Research must be done." Heero got up and walked to the hone.
A few hours later after he'd called a few of his work companions, he'd finally decided to give this place a shot. Everyone he'd called had at least once gone to 'Maxwell's Repairs' and had left with everything fixed.
Going to bed Heero fell asleep in no time. Not having his computer to keep him up. He'd been lacking quite a bit of sleep for some time because of the damn thing.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The next day Heero walked into the repair store and looked around, what he saw made him stop dead in his tracks. The store had everything from as large as car engines being fixed to things small as toasters. There was also thing as complicated as computers to as simple as flashlights. Heero noticed that there were no employees around. Walking up to the front desk, Heero spotted a sign that read 'RING FOR SERVICE' he then noticed the bell and rang it twice.
"Coming!" a voice from the back shouted. Soon a figure emerged from the back whipping their hands on a greasy rag. "Hi! Can I help you?"
"Um, yeah, I was told that this was the place to come to get my computer fixed." Heero replied as he watched the figure come out of the shadows.
"Well they were right, I'm Duo Maxwell. Like my motto says, if I can't fix it, no one can. Who might you be?" Duo asked as he stepped behind the counter.
"Heero, what is it that you exceed in anyways?" Heero asked.
"Everything." Duo replied casually. "Nice to meet you Heero. Now let me take a look at your computer there." Duo walked around the counter and up to Heero. "It should be fixed my tomorrow."
"You're going to fix it by tomorrow?" Heero asked speculatively.
"Yep." Duo said as he took the computer from Heero's arms.
"Hn, I'll be back around noon tomorrow then." Heero stated as he left.
"Alright, see you tomorrow." Duo sing songed as he took the piece of machine tot eh back of the store.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Fixing the computer was a synch. Duo had finished fixing it within the hour after Heero had left. Two hours after that he'd finished his other clients repairs and he was now going on his lunch break."
Walking down the road towards the university, he couldn't get his mind off of the cobalt-eyed boy named Heero. Duo walked up the stairs to the front of the university and towards professor Chang's office.
"Hey Wu-man! You in there?" Duo said as he knocked once and opened the door.
Wufei sat at his desk writing something down. Finishing up, he looked up just in time to see Duo flop down in one of the ever so comfy seats in his office.
"Maxwell." He nodded." How are you today? Your business crashed yet?" Wufei joked.
"I'm good and no. The day my business crashes is the day you stop loving to teach." Duo retorted.
"Point taken." Wufei put the papers aside and looked at his best friend. "You look abnormally happy today."
"Do I? Hm, well lets see it could have to do with me finishing all my work this morning."
"I highly doubt that. You always finish your work before lunch."
"Well then it must do with that ever so good looking client that walked in today."
Wufei rolled his eyes. "You think all your clients are good looking." Wufei pointed out.
"I know but this one was different. He was…wow."
"Wufei rolled his eyes again.
"Well I gotta get going. The shop must re-open"
"Yes it should." Wufei stood and bid his friend good-bye. Once Duo left the room, he sat back down, shaking his head.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Heero went to Maxwell's Repairs the next day, fully expecting his computer to still be broken. When he arrived, Duo greeted him at the front desk with a smile and his computer, fully fixed.
"Hey Heero, your computer is fixed." Duo smiled at the look of shock on the boys face. "What?! I told you it would be ready today. Well actually it was ready yesterday but that's besides the point."
"Hn thanks. How much will it cost?" Heero replied after he regained his composure.
"Don't worry about it. It's on the house." Duo said.
"Hn, whatever. Don't go coming after me for the money later on." Heero replied as he picked up his computer.
Duo smiled. 'If I do come after you, trust me it wont be fore the money.'
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
'Damn computer stores. Always moving stuff around.' "Oomph." Heero grunted as he walked into someone. "Heero? Is that you?"
Heero looked up to find his ex-lover standing in front of him. "Trowa? How have you been lately?"
"Not to bad, what about you?" Trowa asked as he picked up his printer cartage. "Other than my computer going to shits and smashing my keyboard to shit, I've been good." Heero replied.
"Really? Did you bring it to 'Maxwell's"
"Repairs? Yes I did." Heero cut Trowa off.
"And how's it working now?" Trowa inquired.
"Everything seems to be in order so far. Although I can't be to sure, since I don't have a keyboard to test it any further." Heero pointed to the white keyboard he had in his hand.
"Ah, that's right." Trowa nodded his head.
"So what have you been up to?" Heero asked casually.
"I got a job down town." Trowa said. Heero gave hi this look that said please continue. "I'm a secretary. Quatre Raberba Winner is my boss." Trowa informed his friend.
"Really, sounds like it's a good job to have." Heero commented.
"It is Quatre is a really great person. He can be so gentle." Trowa spoke as if Quatre meant the world to him.
"You're sleeping with him." Heero stated with good humour.
"Huh? Um, yes I am." Trowa replied cautiously.
"Good for you. I'm glad you're happy?" Heero said sincerely.
"What about you Heero? Are you with anyone?" Trowa asked.
"No I'm not." Heero replied.
"Hm, why don't you hook up with that guy from the repairs shop? I heard that's he's not to bad." Trowa suggested.
Blushing slightly, Heero shook his head. "I have to go. I have work to do." Leaving Trowa standing alone in the aisle with a smug look. Heero paid for his items and went home.

Duo sighed, he hated closing the shop when business was good, but he need food. After all, one could only go on for so long with only canned ravioli to eat. Last time he'd done his groceries was on the day that Heero had asked to get his computer fixed. That was two weeks ago.
Walking thru the cereal aisle of "Gorbit's Groceries", Duo sighed. He hadn't seen Heero back at the shop since the first time. 'Well I must have fixed it completely', he thought to himself. Reaching for a box of 'Orbit Gooshes', Duo spotted a tuff of blond further down. 'Hm, that looks like Quatre…wait, no way, it is!' "Quatre!" Duo shouted to his old university friend.
"Pardon?" Quatre turned to face the voice and was soon being hugged by Duo. "Duo?! Is that you?"
"You betcha it's me. Man I haven't seen you since university. How are you?" Duo asked, releasing his hold on Quatre.
"I'm goon. I'm the president and owner of Winner Inc. My father gave it to me in his will." Quatre smiled sadly.
"He died?! I am so sorry Q." Duo put a comforting hand on his friends shoulder.
"Heh, don't worry about it. Say Duo, do you want to come over Friday for supper. I can introduce you to Trowa." Quatre smiled.
"Trowa huh. Is that you beau?" Duo asked teasingly. Quatre blushed. "He is huh. Well good for you. And yes I would love to come over on Friday. Well I gotta go. Need to get the food home and reopen the shop. See ya Friday Quatre." Duo waved to his friend.
"Alright Duo. See you then."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
After he'd finished with his groceries, Quatre made his way home to tell Trowa that they would be having company.
Trowa nodded hi head as Quatre explained about Duo coming over on Friday and grinned mentally he got an idea. He would call Heero and invite him over for supper. It would be about time Heero started to get to know some more people. The fact that the Duo that Quatre was talking about was the Duo that owned 'Maxwell's Repairs' totally slipped his mind.
After Quatre was finished explaining his plans for Friday night, Trowa went to the kitchen and picked up the phone. Recalling Heero's phone number, he dialled it and waited.
After the fourth ring, Heero picked up. "Hello?"
"Heero, it's Trowa."
"Trowa?"
"Yes. I was wondering if you wanted to come over for supper on Friday?"
"You want me to come over? Why?"
"Well you can meet Quatre for one thing, and he's been dying to meet you for the longest time."
"Hn. I suppose. What time?"
"At about seven."
"Alright. I'll see you then. Good bye Trowa."
"Good bye Heero." Trowa hung up the phone and a small grin appeared on his face. Everything was now in motion. All Trowa had to do now was wait for Friday.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Friday night finally arrived and Duo walked up to the front door and knocked three times and waited. Quatre opened the door not to long after, and stepped back slightly. It was six thirty, Duo had gotten lost and it had taken him twenty minutes to get back on track and another ten to actually find the house. Giving Quatre a quick friendly hug he stepped back and grinned. "Hello Q. sorry about being late. I sort of got lost on the way and had to back track."
"That's alright. Suppers not ready yet anyways, it will take about a half hour. Come in, I'll introduce you to Trowa." Quatre moved aside and let Duo in. after closing the door he led him into the living room where Trowa was waiting.
"Hi. You must be Trowa. I'm Duo, Duo Maxwell. I've heard so much about you." Duo flopped himself down onto one of the armchairs.
"Maxwell? You wouldn't happen to be the Duo Maxwell who owns 'Maxwell's Repairs', would you?"
"Why so I am. Although I don't know too many other people running around with the name Duo." Grinning, he turned his attention to the room he was in. It was nicely furnished and decorated. There was a long maroon and black couch against the opposite wall of the door that he'd come in through, the chair he was sitting in was the same colour as the couch and was placed on the right side of it. Across from him was a matching chair. In the centre of the three was a cherry wood coffee table with a small centrepiece. The walls were adorned with pictures of Quatre's sisters, his nieces and nephews, and a few of him and Trowa together.
While Duo continued to look around, Trowa had a revelation. This was the man Heero had been talking about. This was perfect.
They continued with idle chitchat for another half hour or so, when a knock at the front door made them stop.
"Now I wonder who that could be. I know I didn't invite anyone else." Quatre looked at Trowa. His lover was trying to suppress a grin. "Trowa dear, would you go get the door?"
Trowa merely nodded and got up to answer the front door.
Heero stood patiently, waiting for someone to answer his knocks, wondering where he's seen the black jeep before. That is he was until the door in front of him opened and Trowa appeared. "Heero. Just in time. Supper is almost ready. Please come in and take a sea." Stepping aside to let him in, Trowa led him into the other room.
As Heero followed Trowa into the living room and as he went thru the door way he stopped. He looked straight in the eyes of the one person he'd thought he would never see again. "Trowa could I have a word with you please?"
"Sure." The two left the room and entered the kitchen. In the mean times back in the living room, Duo gapped at the now empty doorway.
"Trowa, what is he doing here?" Heero asked as he pointed towards the living room.
"Quatre invited him over for supper. They were old friend back in university. I had no idea it was the same person that owns 'Maxwell's Repairs'." Trowa shrugged. "Now quite being anal retentive and come join everyone in the living room. For all you know, you might have quite a lot in common." Trowa commented before he left Heero in his wake.
Heero shook his head and followed his old friend and ex-lover into the next room.
"So Duo, how's Wufei doing?" Quatre asked.
"He's doing good." Duo replied.
"Who is Wufei?" Heero asked as he sat down.
Duo looked up at him and grinned. Wufei would kill him for what he was going to say, that is if he ever found out. "He's the local pimp." He burst out laughing as Quatre sputtered, Trowa gave a blank look and Heero blanched slightly. "I'm kidding, seriously, he's one of the professors at the university. Chang Wufei, happens to be the youngest prof there as well as the toughest. But he's an all right guy in the end. He's one of my best friends."
"Hn."
"Boy you talk about as much as you did when you brought in that computer of yours. How's it working anyways?" Duo asked.
"Fine."
"You two know each other?" Quatre asked.
"Not really but this guy walked into my shop a few weeks ago with a completely friend monitor. It took an hour to fix."
"Only that long Duo? That's amazing." Quatre praised.
"Not really, normally it only takes about a half hour. I'm not called the best not the most recommended for nothing you know." Duo shrugged. "Unless of course I'm called that because of my good looks."
"Duo." Quatre exasperated. "Grow up."
"What? And what do you mean 'grow up'?"
"You know exactly what I mean."
"Oy. All right. Have it your way. Is supper ready yet? I'm starved." Duo asked as he changed the subject.
"You haven't changed." Quatre commented.
"Yes I have. I don't think with just my dick anymore. As in university that's all I ever used." Duo replied.
"With your hand, right Duo?" Quatre asked politely.
Duo sputter at the notion but regained himself. "Yeah, probably just as much as you Q."
"Point taken. Lets go eat before we ruin everyone else's appetite." Quatre suggested as he got up.
"That's a great idea." Duo followed Quatre to the kitchen, a blanched Heero and a mildly amused Trowa in their wake.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Super was great Q. I don't think I've had such a large meal in a long time. Well since back when we shared an apartment." Duo patted his stomach.
"Don't exaggerate Duo. They weren't that big." Quatre protested politely.
"Yes they were." Looking at Trowa and Heero he elaborated. "I swear we had an appetizer for every meal, and then each meal consisted of four different parts. After that we had desert. I swore I gained fifty pounds my last year living with him."
"Duo that only happened when you ordered Chinese and you did not gain fifty pound. I believe you've gained some since last time I saw you."
Duo sneered humorously at his friend. "Funny Q, real funny. So that was a good supper and all, but I should be getting on my way."
"You're not going to stay to watch the movie?" Trowa asked.
"You guys got a movie? Well I guess I can stay for a bit longer." Duo shrugged.
"Heero are you going to stay as well?" Trowa asked the man that was intent on forming a hole in the braided boys head.
"Hn, I suppose so."
"What movie did you guys get anyways?" Duo asked after he gave Heero a quick glance.
"I think it was called 'Lost Genes'." Quatre replied.
"That's over six hours long." Duo commented. "I don't know if I cans stay that long you two. I do have to work tomorrow."
"Oh Duo. Just sleep in. it's not like you are going to get fired for it or something. It's your own business."
Duo huffed in defeat. So much for leaving before his hormones got the better of him. He glanced at Heero again and sighed. "Fine. I'll stay and watch the movie. Do you have anything else planned for tonight that I should know about?"
"Nope that was all."
"That's good. Well let's get watching this video, the sooner we start, the sooner I can go home to my bed."
"Duo, you need a lover or something. You're pathetic." Quatre teased.
"Quatre…"
"Yes Duo?"
"Is there anyway to make you shut up?"
"No Duo."
"That's what I thought."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Quatre that was a great movie and all. But I really need to get going. It's late and I'm going to have a whole bunch of customers tomorrow. I'm off." Duo informed his friend as he stood up and stretched.
"Alright Duo." Quatre nodded his head as he stood up as well to walk him to the front door.
Duo began to follow his friend but stopped and turned to face Heero. "Hey Heero do you want a ride home?" he received a blank look. "Well do you want a ride or not? You obviously don't have a vehicle with you. If you do, it's extremely quiet. And well in that case I'll see you around sometime. Quatre it was nice seeing you again. Trowa a pleasure." Duo made a mock bow and turned in the direction of the front door.
Trowa sighed; giving Heero a small shove he spoke. "Wait Duo. Heero will be right with you. He just needs to get his coat."
"I don't ne - oomph." Heero began to protest before an elbow cut him off in his side.
"Come with me Heero." Trowa instructed as he went in the opposite direction.
"Hn." Following Trowa out of the room, Heero glared at him. "What do you think you are doing? I don't need a ride. I can call a cab and I don't have coat."
"I will not allow you to take a cab, well not while there is a majorlly hot guy in my living room offering you a ride home. Especially one that seems to like you a great deal. Besides, you need to start seeing people again. And you now have a new coat." Trowa handed Heero one of his own coat's from a closet.
"You are a pain in the ass, you know that right Trowa?" Heero stated.
"Yes, well at least I'm getting a pain in the ass. Which is probably a lot more that what you can say. No go get in that car."
"It's a jeep." Heero corrected.
"Heh. Alright go get in that jeep." Trowa shoved his ex-lover lightly in the back.
"Fine I'm going."Heero sighed. There was no way he was going to be able to get out of this situation. He followed Duo out to his jeep and resisted the urge to stare at the boy's ass.
"Well hop in Heero." Duo commented as he jumped into the driver's side and buckled up.
Heero didn't comment as he seated himself on the passenger side. "Your jeep is a stick shift." He noted more to himself than anyone else.
"Yep, when I first got this baby of mine, Deathscythe was an automatic, it just wasn't powerful enough for my liking but I couldn't bring myself to return it to the dealer. So I brought scythe home, took it apart, literally, and changed the gears from automatic to stick. Along with supping up the engine a few horse powers. I can go zero to eighty in two seconds flat." Duo stated proudly.
"I see."
"So…" Duo revved the engine as he started up the jeep. "Where to Mr. Yuy?"
Heero gave Duo the direction to his home and then concentrated on ignoring the boy and looking around at the car. The seats were leather, black leather. Heero paused to recap what he'd inspected of the jeep when he had first arrived at Trowa's. When he thought of it the whole entire thing was black well that was except for the front where the lights were. Around the headlights was an eerie green outline painted on. Around the headlights there seemed to be a face painted onto the front of the vehicle, it sort of reminded him of a mecha. Where the forehead ended there was a yellow boomerang shape that the peeks pointed towards the windshield.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Duo walked into his shop and went to the counter, pulling out a piece of paper, he wrote on it 'closed till 9'. Once he was done with that, he walked to the door and taped it to the window. After he smoothed the tape once over he made his way to the back where the stairs were situated. Walking up them, Duo opened a door that led to his living room and walked off to the right towards his bedroom. Duo went to his dresser and pulled out a pair of black flannel pants. Stripping down, he put them on and then literally fell into his bed already half-asleep. He had surprised himself by actually making it home in one piece and not falling asleep on the road. Duo fell asleep with the thought that Heero had a really nice ass.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Heero sighed as he walked away from his window, Trowa's words running through his head. He was right about the fact that Heero needed to find some one. He hadn't been with anyone since Trowa and that had been over a year and a half ago. He just wasn't too sure about Duo. Trowa didn't know if Duo swung his way for sure or not and that made Heero leery about what to do.
Not to say that Heero wasn't attracted to the boy, Duo was hot; there were no doubts in his mind about that fact.
Shaking his head, he went to his room and changed into his spandex and green tank top. Crawling into bed, he wondered if there was anything he could break.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Duo woke up at eight the next morning to his alarm clock blaring into his ear.
Groaning, he sat up and muttered to himself as he got up to take a shower. "God I'm glad I'm off tomorrow."
After he'd re-braided his hair and put on his work clothes, Duo went to the kitchen to have some coffee and good. Just as he was finishing up his cup of coffee a knock on the shop door resonated through out the building.
"I'm coming." He muttered as he took one last swig of his coffee and placed the mug in the sink.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Heero had woken up the next day at seven and he found himself wanting to see Duo again. He just didn't know how to approach the boy without a reason. Heero sighed as he walked into the kitchen to prepare something to eat. As he popped some eggo's into the microwave, Heero walked over to the fridge to get some orange juice.
The scent of smoke caught Heero's attention from his position in front of the fridge. Heero turned around to find the cause of the smell and his eyes fell on the microwave. The machine was smoking profusely. Heero jumped to action, unplugging it from the wall and opening the door. The entire inside was melted and he was sure that the wiring was fried as well.
Heero sighed mentally, that solved his problem of having to find an excuse to see the boy. Now all he had to do was figure out what he was going to say.
Shaking his head, Heero left the kitchen and went to take a shower. Once his shower was doe, he threw on a pair of jeans and blue T-shirt.
After locking up, Heero set off towards 'Maxwell's repairs' with his broken microwave. As he walked up to the door, Heero took a deep breath and knocked.
He was surprised that the place was still closed, it was already quarter after nine. Just as he was about to knock again, he noticed a figure walk out of the back. Heero lowered his arm and shifted the microwave, as he waited for Duo to unlock the door.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Duo walked into the shop area and faltered in his step. Now why was Heero at his doorstep? Regaining his footing and putting on a smile, he walked to the front door and unlocked it.
"Good morning Heero. What are you doing up this fine Saturday morning?" Duo grinned.
"Ohayo. My microwave broke. I was wondering if you could take a look at it?" Heero shifted the inanimate object in his arms again.
"Of course, come on in an put that down on the counter. Do you want some coffee or something?" Duo called back to Heero as he walked towards the back.
"Sure." Heero agreed as he followed the braided boy towards the kitchen.
Duo was already brewing a pot of coffee and taking out two mugs as Heero joined him. "Welcome to my home. Have a seat, relax, what ever." Duo shrugged as he leaned back against the counter.
"Thanks." Heero answered as he sat down in one of the two chairs at the table.
