Gundam Wing Family; Chapter 6

Despite what Heero and Relena had been thinking, Duo didn't tell anybody. However, the previous night Hilde hadn't believed Duo when he said Relena had stepped into the shower and had forgotten to turn the hot water on and had gone to check on her by herself. What she found stunned even her.

Duo had pleaded for her not to tell anybody, and she had insisted that she was Relena's best friend. She would never betray Relena like that. When she entered their room Duo had said, "Yeah, you can keep a secret as well as Trowa can give a public speech," and followed her in.

Heero woke and looked into the face of the sleeping figure beside him. *She looks just like a fairy princess,* he thought. He debated whether or not to wake her, and decided to find a fun way to wake his sleeping princess. He looked around for some means to wake her. He found one, too.

He turned the shower on full cold, picked her up and carried her into the shower with him. She screamed and he kissed her to silence her. She glared at him, giving him a better death glare than even he could conjure up.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" she yelled, stepping out of the shower.

"Waking you up Foreign Minister Darlian," he said in an official tone, "I have to go. Bye." He gave her one last kiss on the cheek before swooping out of the window.

"Oh, Heero Yuy!" she screeched, stomping her foot.

"Relena! What's wrong?" Zechs came rushing in to find his baby sister drenched and looking none too happy, "What happened?" he asked.

"I just took a shower and forgot to take my clothes off that's all. Now please return to breakfast. I'll be down in a minute," she said, continuing to stare out the window angrily.

"Right, I'll see you downstairs," he said, exiting the room in one swift movement.

Relena got ready in a flash. She was dry(-ish) and dressed in a pale yellow sundress with her hair up in a dripping ponytail before you could say "Pacifism". [My pathetic attempt at humor ^_^.] She walked downstairs and sat at the table.

Duo paled at seeing her walk in, as did Hilde. Duo looked over at her and hoped to God she hadn't told anyone. When he looked around the room nervously and saw that everyone was just as relaxed as they ever are, [And that's a good thing?], he let out an audible sigh of relief.

Relena was talking to Quatre, Trowa and Catherine when Heero entered the room, still soaking wet. His hair was sticking to his face, and he had to push it off of his forehead in order to avoid running into the table. He just smiled and sat down next to Relena. No cursing or anything.

"Did Heero Yuy just smile? A smile that was not evil, not a smirk either. A real, true, smile? Call the press!" Quatre joked.

Heero only smiled again, stunning everybody even more. Relena smiled at him and turned to the conversation once more. Heero listened and heard them talking about what Quatre's estate was like. Trowa only sat and stared at them with a confused expression. He met Heero's eyes and they both smiled slightly and shrugged.

"So…" Zechs said to Heero, "what puts you in such a good mood?" He narrowed his eyes.

"I just went for a swim… and I guess I'm just happy to finally get some time off from work to spend with my friends," he replied casually, as though it was no big deal that the great, emotionless, Heero was openly admitting that the people he was always with counted as friends to him, or saying that he was happy to be with them.

Duo, Trowa, and Wufei almost fell off their chairs in surprise. Quatre only smiled his most dazzling, (not to mention ditzy) smile in Heero's direction. Duo, after he was done choking, stared at Heero in utter amazement.

"Did you just call us your 'friends'? I knew you'd come around buddy!" he exclaimed.

"Say, Heero, why are you suddenly being so open?" asked Catherine.

"No reason… I guess I just finally realized that weaknesses are what make humans so interesting and… well, human," he said, glancing at Relena.

Zechs suddenly got a gleam in his eyes. Noin became worried, she knew that gleam.

"Heero, about that swimming…theory," he emphasized the last word for effect, "Since when do you go swimming in your clothes?"

Heero swallowed air. "I was… really hot and decided to-to-to just jump right in," he laughed nervously.

"Mm-hmm," Zechs leaned in to Heero's ear and whispered, "I guess you're off the hook…for now."

Heero smiled at him, making him even more mad. Duo suddenly stood up, unable to contain himself any longer.

"Heero I need to talk to you, now. Come on!" Duo pulled him out of the room and into the large bathroom.

"Duo," Heero said slowly, "Why are we in the bathroom?"

"It's the only room that locks. Beside the bedrooms, but that would look weird," he said.

"And this doesn't? Duo you just yanked me into the bathroom. You do know what people do in the bathroom, don't you?" Heero said sarcastically.

"Shut up! I wanted to talk about last night," seeing Heero about to explode on him he said quickly, "Don't worry I didn't tell anyone. I wanted to know if you used protection. You did didn't you?"

"Of course! Do you take me for an idiot? Jesus! I would never betray Relena's trust like that," he said, indignantly, "Any ways what would you do if I didn't?" Duo's eyes widened in absolute horror. Heero laughed. "I'm only joking! Jeez."

"That's not something to joke about!" Duo yelled.

"Oh well… let's just go back out there before they get an even worse idea in their heads," Heero said, laughing at Duo's still openly shocked expression.

They exited the room and Trowa turned to Duo. "Why did you just pull Duo into the bathroom Duo?"

"Uh…. Just needed to talk to him," Duo laughed nervously.

Heero took his seat next to Relena, who turned to him. "What was that about?"

"You have some very protective people around you, you know that?" That was all he said in reply, but Relena instinctively knew what he and Duo had talked about. She turned crimson at the thought.

The rest of the day passed by rather uneventfully. Plenty of planning to do for the following gala, and Relena had to issue a statement on the treaty with the new colony, X19332. Heero, of course, was in the shadows behind her.

"I, along with my colleagues, am very willing to sign onto this peace treaty. We believe that in doing so, we are preparing the next generation for peaceful future, full of hope, and fulfilled dreams…" the rest was drowned out by the sound of glass shattering.

Several figures in red and black uniforms fell through the skylight and made a run for Relena. Heero waited for an opening before jumping from the shadows and shooting at the men. They halted and drew their weapons. They didn't get the chance to shoot though, for Heero merely nodded and Duo, Trowa, Quatre, and Wufei, along with Sally and Noin, emerged and jumped them, cuffing them and leading them out of the room. Relena was extremely shaken up.

Heero came forward and put his arm around her, turning her away from the audience. "Are you okay?" he asked.

"Yeah, just get me out of here, Heero," she said burying her face in his shoulder.

He turned to the room of surprised diplomats and said into the microphone, "Miss Peacecraft will be retiring early. She is a bit shaken up by all the excitement. Her brother will notify with the rescheduled statement. Good night,"

He led Relena out of the room and to his car. They drove back to the Sanq Kingdom and he deposited her in her bedroom, going downstairs to discuss the night's events with the others.
