Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Final Fantasy 4/Gundam Wing ❯ Return to Baron ( Chapter 7 )
The group stood before the Mysidian elder which was shocked to see that the young man had returned and as the holy knight. He was glad also that his students had returned safely as well.
Porom giggled in glee."Sir Trowa faught brilliantly."
Palom agreed with his sister."I'll say. He passed with flying colors."
Trowa blinked in confusion. Passed?"What?" he questioned. Looking at the twins then at the elder.
"Forgive me. I assigned them to spy on you. As it turned out, there was no need for it. Palom, Porom good work."
The twins looked at Trowa."Hey no hard feelings, alright?"
Porom sighed."I'm sorry."
Trowa nodded and knew that it was done for a good reason."It's okay. You did the right thing, considering all I've done."
"But now, you are a Paladin and...That sword! Where did you get it?" questioned the elder not getting a very good look at the sword which was hanging at Trowas belt loosely.
"On Mt. Ordeals." The elder motioned him to show him the sword and Trowa took the sword out and handed it to the elder. He looked it over carefully.
"The inscription on this sword matches the passage from Mysidian legend."
"Legend?"
One born of a dragon
bearing darkness and light
Shall rise to the light
Bathing the moon in eternal
light, he brings a promise
to Mother Earth with bounty
and grace.
"The light at Ordeals called me son. What was that light?"
"I don't know, nor do I know what the legend means. But we Mysidians for generations, are told to pray for the fulfillment of this legend and to believe in that one."
Tellah stepped forward annoyed."Enough talk! We must go defeat Golbez!"
"Tellah?"
Tellah nodded."It's been awhile."
"We met him on Mt. Ordeals."Porom said brushing brown strains of hair from her face.
Palom laughed."And guess what? The old man learned Meteo."
The elder gasped."What!? Meteo, the legendary spell, unsealed? What is happening to this world....?"
"I couldn't care less as long as I avenge Anna!"
"Your daughter Anna?"
Tellah nodded anger in his eyes."Golbez took her life. I swear I'll crush him with my Meteo!"
The elder shook his head."Tellah, you should not fight with hatred. Besides, you are in no condition to use Meteo."
"If I die, so be it. I will kill Golbez at any cost!"
"...Still stubborn as a mule, I see."
"And you still have a big mouth!"
"Nevertheless, with your spells and Trowa's new found power, you might be able to defeat Golbez."
"In any case, we must return to Barn to commandeer an airship first." Trowa said.
The elder nodded."Very well. I will have the Devil's Road opened. As a Paladin, I am certain you can safely travel the bedeviled path. Well, I will retire to the Tower of worship now. Trowa, Tellah, I pray for your success."
"Thank you." said Trowa giving his thanks to the Mysidian Elder.
The two went to leave but Palom and Porom stopped them.
"Palom, Porom, return to your studies!" the elder ordered.
"Elder, please allow us to accompany him." said Porom hopeful.
Palom nodded."You're the one who told us to help him."
The elder sighed and nodded."...You have both overcome the trials of Ordeals to return alive. Perhaps this is your fate. Please look after them."
Trowa looked at the twins."But..."
"Hey you got a problem." Palom crossed his arms.
"I'm sure we can still be of assistance."Porom said.
"They're annoying runts, but we could use their help." Tellah sighed.
"Alright. I'm counting on you all." Trowa nodded for the two twins to join them once again.
"Yeaaah baby!" Palom cheered.
"Palom, this is not some picnic!"his sister reminded angrily.
"The entrance to the Devil's Raod lies on the east side of town. Palom, Porom, train well and return safely. Good luck to you all." the elder told them kindly.
They went to the east side of town to where a black mage stood, guarding the door.
"Excuse me. But the elder has given us permission to enter Devil's Roiad, please let us pass." Porom explained to the young mage.
"The elder gave you permission? Ok you may use Devil's Road as you please."
Trowa nodded."Thank you."
They stepped in the room to where a bright light shone in the middle surrounded by stone pillars. They walked onto uit and were immediatly transported to Baron.
The group wandered around town to find a way to get into Baron Castle, since they couldn't exactly just walk right in, they needed a plan to sneak in another way..but how?
As they wandered around town they found themselves in the cafe where maybe they could find some help, or possible information. Approaching the Cafe, the group eyed around the room and Trowa happened to see a familiar face within the group of Baron guards, which were the only ones in the cafe at that time.
"Yang!" Trowa called and made his way over to the Fabulian man.
Yang looked over at the Paladin.
"It's me, Trowa!"
"Trowa...Baron knight turned traitor, seize him!" Yang ordered the other two Baron soldiers that sat around the table.
The soldiers stood up and went over to the Trowa.
"Geez....talk about warm welcoming..."muttered Palom.
One soldier rushed forward, readying his fist for a punch, but ended up being pushed into a vacent table by Trowa. The other went for the twins, but was soon stopped by Trowa which had stopped by striking him in the side with his fist. The two soldiers fled the cafe.
"You insolent wretch!" Yang was getting angry. He approached trowa swiftly landing a punch to his face, making Trowa stagger backward and landing to the floor.
Trowa rubbed the blood that dripped from the corner of his mouth and stood up."Yang...."
Yang went for another punch but Trowa dodged and slammed a punch into Yangs stomach making him gasp and fall to the floor in pain.
"Porom, use a cure spell on him." instructed Trowa.
Porom nodded."Cure." The bright sparkling light of Poroms cure spell glowed around the Fabulian, and he got up slowly.
"Trowa!"he exclaimed in surprise to see that he was there."What just happened? After Leviathan attacked us...I cannot remember anything."
"Obviously, you suffered a slight case of amnesia and were being used by Baron."Tellah stated.
Suddenly it hit Trowa. Maybe Yang knew what happened to Quatre."Do you know what happened to Quatre and Edward?"
"...Quatre was swallowed by Leviathan. I don't know what happened to Edward."Yang replied.
Trowa sighed, feeling the sadness drape over him again."I see."
"Where are we?"Yang asked looking around the cafe.
"Baron. Let's get a room to discuss everything."
They went to the inn next to the cafe and talked with the innkeeper which thanked them for riding the place of baron soldiers and offered them to have a free room for that night. They thanked him and went into the room.
"Yang, this is Tellah. His daughter and Edward--"Trowa began to explain but Tellah stopped him.
"My daughter loved him enough to sacrifice her life for him."
"I am sorry for your loss. I am Yang, of Fabul."
Palom grinned widely."Ahem! I am Palom, of Mysidia...Heh pretty good impersonation, huh?"
Porom sighed, and kicked her brother."Please don't mind him. I'm his twin sister Porom."
"Hey that kick really hurt!"Palom scowled and turned to Yang."How could you let them play you like that?"
"Palom! Apologize!"Porom exclaimed.
Yang sighed."No, he is right. Forgive my actions."
"Well, first things first. We have to find Cid."Trowa reminded.
"Sneaking into the castle won't be easy."Tellah also reminded.
Yang noticed something in his pocket."Hm? What is this...?"he wondered.
Trow noticed the familiar markings engraved on the key that Yang pulled out of his pocket."That is the Baron key!Of course! They must've given it to you when they gave you command of those guards. With this key, I believe we'll be able to find Cid."

With the finding that Yang had the key of Baron the group found themselves at the edge of town where Trowa remembered that this old, abandoned building had been locked for quite some time. He remembered someone saying that only the key of Baron could open it. But also that it was a place covered with dangerous monsters. It was a underground water path that would lead them into Baron unseen.
They climbed down the old, creaky, stairs which would lead them to the passage. They were trying carefully not to make a wrong step, for the fear of breaking the wooden stairway and falling to the ground far below.
"I can't believe this dump is the way to Baron. Hey Trowa it'd be alot easier to just Barge in wouldn't it?"Palom asked, getting tired of traveling down the dangerous staircase.
"Palom! Don't ask such questions! You know very well that Baron is heavily guarded! We'd be shot down by their arrows or killed by their swords! It's much safer to go through here, and besides we can sneak in and find Cid without causeing any trouble." His sister sighed with annoyance.
"Don't worry...I'm sure we're almost there."Trowa spoke.
It got even darker as they traveled down the stairway and even more difficult to see. It would be pointless to continue further unless they had a torch.
"Trowa, it's going to get dark down here. How are we suppose to find our way if we can't see?"Yang said in a low voice, touching the side of the wall carefully to feel his way, and to not fall down the steps.
"Um, excuse me Trowa but..." Porom slowly pulled a unlit metal torch holder from the wall."If we could light this..."
"Tellah? Palom? One of you light the torch."
"I--"Palom tsepped down the step quickly, but too fast and the step snapped and the group began to fall towards the ground.
Tellah began casting a spell quickly."Float!"
A burst of magic covered the group and they began to slow down and landed safely to the ground below.
"Well....at least we made it.."Palom said after a long silence from the group.
Twack! "Palom! OH! That wasn't fun!" Porom cried out angrily.
"Hey you two, we're ok, let's just work on getting a light. Porom do you still have that torch?"Trowa asked fummbling through the darkness
"Yes."She replied.
"I'll light the torch."said Tellah casting a small fire spell to guide his way over to Porom and quickly lit the torch, which glowed brightly.
Trowa sighed heavily."Now let's find our way through here before anything else happens..."
"What was that suppose to mean...?"Palom asked.
"Palom, just...come on. Ok."Porom sighed.
"You guys, be careful, the tunnel is very old and can collapse. So please just walk and stay calm."
"Yeah, Yeah."Palom muttered.
"Palom, he's serious!"
"I know! I know!"
Everyone sighed.
"Uh...guys....theres something behind us..." said Palom, stareing behind them.
"What!?"Trowa asked turning quickly, to see something big moving through the darkness.
Suddenly a huge reptile creature emerged from the darkness and approached the group.
"I...think we should run..."Palom said turning to the others.
"Shit...."Trowa muttered."RUN!"
The twins went ahead running at full speed the other two went next, then Trowa closely behind. The water spashed beneath them and they could hea the monster chasing them quickly behind.
"Trowa! The exit is up ahead! But it's being caved in!"Porom yelled.
"Just keep running!!"Trowa yelled back.
The twins ran outside, followed by Tellah and Yang. Just as the exit was about to collapse Trowa ran out and blocking the monster inside. Trowa breathed heavily.
"Well..we made it."Palom said. Everyone looked at him and sighed.
