Heero lay flat on his stomach and stared down at the sea. In fact he had lain in this position since the sun had sent its first rays of gold over the horizon's thin line. That was a few hours ago. Now he waited patiently for the first movements on the cliff he was surveying through his binoculars.

In particular he waited for one certain person to come out but no braid was yet to be seen.

[Duo, I hope you told me the truth about the senator's steps...]

After Heero had arrived, hid and disguised the car he went straight to where he presumed the hidden base. And found it without any problems thanks to Duo's video.

[Well, at least the second part was helpful...]

As he thought of the, well, longer part of it his cheeks' color changed to a slightly oinker shade but yet he still didn't move. He didn't dare to. If he did he knew he wouldn't be able to keep his eyes on the grounds before him. The tiniest shifting would cause *way* too much friction and he couldn't need *any* distraction now. His plan was far too delicate to let it fail because of his hormones' needs.

Somewhere in the back of his mind a tiny voice told him to fall asleep just there and then but he ignored it as well as the growing pain in his muscles that pleaded to be moved. He had neither eaten nor slept during the last 24 hours but he didn't feel much exhausted. He had been doing things like that before, during the war. Some missions needed no delays so it wasn't seldom that he worked several days in one row without getting any sleep. But he sensed that it was destroying him slowly so he stopped working like that so he appreciated that his usual jobs for the Preventers were far more regulated. And this occasion was just an exception. He did it for Duo, for his love, his one and only. The days with Relena had made it clear to him that he loved Duo only though before he had thought only Relena could be his one love. How things could change!

Even though a strange feeling had ran through him as he held her close to his almost naked body he had been thinking of Duo all the time. He wished it had been the long-haired boy in his arms when he was holding Relena close and when he kissed her on the cheek it was a silent apology that he would never love her as much as she loved him. He knew that although she said she got over him that she still loved him. She cared about him and wanted to see him happy like he cared about Duo. So he guessed that what Relena felt for him was the same what he felt for Duo. Deep in his heart he felt pity for the girl. He had found the one he wanted to live his entire life with and was loved back but she... He just hoped that her special person would find her soon. She surely deserved it.

Just when he thought that Duo got the date of departure wrong, someone else than the usual guard-soldier made his way to the surface of the base, someone in the second half of his life, an man with auburn hair.

Senator Secunda headed for the hidden helicopter landing platform. Well, the platform wasn't hidden now because a rather huge helicopter was waiting to take off. It had arrived about an hour ago but hadn't made any move since then, just like Heero. But now its rotors started moving. First they rotated only slowly but after two more minutes they had such a force that even Heero almost felt the wave of air pressed towards him. The self-proclaimed head of what was left of OZ turned around to shout something into the direction he came from.

Heero's heart beat a bit faster because just a few seconds later he saw the one his heart had been longing for the last few weeks, walking in his usual almost jumping manner over to his uncle. It took all of Heero's Perfect-Soldier-self-control not to jump up and throw his arms around the missing piece of his heart. Instead he waited calmly for the two men to climb into the helicopter so he could proceed with his plan.

It took him the whole night to prepare. He had sneaked into the base without anybody noticing him.

He had snorted because these guys still had *much* to learn if they wanted to be soldiers. Especially if they liked to remain hidden... He had never found a base that was easier to invade. It really was like sleep-walking.

He had met only two guards and those bakas were so easy to outwit that Heero just shook his head as he was inside the base. He didn't have *any* problem depositing the bombs he brought with him at those strategic places he had seen in Duo's video. He even risked to get caught while he wandered through the base, checking where the quarters were and changing the timers on the detonators. After he was finished with that he allowed himself a grin and sneaked out of the base as silently and smooth as he went in. That was about three hours after midnight and the sky had been beginning to lighten up then. In the turquoise of the fading night he had set his little camp on the hills that surrounded the cliff. The last thing he did then was an encouraging grasp on the golden cross around his neck.

And now was the first time he allowed himself to move. His muscled protested wildly after the long neglect but Heero just ignored the pain that went through his whole body. With his right hand he reached into his pocket and grabbed the remote control for his little detonators in the base. With his left he still clasped his binoculars and stared down at the scene on the cliffs.

Duo and his uncle had climbed into the helicopter which made its last preparations for take off. Oblivious to what would happen to them next they were talking rather cheerfully.

Heero grunted. Was this braided baka betraying them all?

Nah, can't be. He'd never betray *me*!]

But before Heero's mind could wander any further the helicopter finally took off. Through his binoculars Heero was able to see that both the senator and Duo held onto the holders on the inside of the flying device.

He closed his eyes and counted silently to twenty. When he looked again the helicopter was well out of reach of the explosions he was going to set off any moment now.

He held his right arm straight in front of him, glared coldly at the scene before his eyes and pressed the button on his remote control.

A few seconds nothing happened.

Then he heard the first explosions.

And allowed himself another smirk before he closed his eyes and turned around.

"I'll see you later, Duo."

~z~

"What's happening down there?"

Duo watched with a strange mixture of disbelief and joy how the whole base was set on fire. His uncle was bellowing orders and questions into the next communication device and had a *very* fierce look on his face. More frightening than Duo had ever seen him.

"What do you mean, 'Somebody destroyed all the MS and quarters´? How could you let this happen?"

Whoever was responsible for this had done a very good job. The sequenced detonations sent every soldier on the surface of the cliff while everything that was close to a weapon was blown up and torn into pieces in loud and effective explosions. But every one who held something on his life was given the choice to escape. Duo knew only one person who could place and time explosions this *precise*.

/Heero... I knew you'd get my message.../

"I want you to investigate this!" Secunda bellowed on top of his voice. "This bastard won't get away that easily!"

With another grunt he shut off the communicator and leaned back in his seat. The grin on his face made Duo feel very uncomfortable.

"Do you think I didn't notice your little game?"

His uncle had a death glare that was worse than Heero's.

"It was *you* who told the invader where the essential parts were and I have a fairly good idea who this bastard *is*. Don't look so shocked. I know *everything*..."

Duo gulped down the denial that lay on his tongue. If there was one thing he had learned during the past weeks than that his uncle was no one to joke with easily. He saw, heard and knew everything his nephew did or said. It was scary sometimes but Duo had really thought he managed to outwit him with his email-trick. But obviously it didn't work as fine as he remembered.

He let out a sigh in exasperation and then smirked as he remembered that no more mobile suits existed that could endanger peace. Thus he attracted his uncle's attention.

"Oh, now you smile, my little one, but soon this will stop as well. Prepare to be punished, son, prepare to be punished!"

Duo swore that the senator's eyes were that of a very bright and shining red and he felt like dying just from his glare.

/Oh, shit. I must have really pissed him off this time... Heero, I hope you rescue me in time!/

~z~

Heero glared at the cast iron gates that had once been the entrance to one of his temporal homes, to a place where he felt extremely happy. Now his only mission was to destroy the evil that was hidden underneath it. The rest of the weapons that were still burning and smoldering hundreds of kilometers away. He had to finish his mission.

It took him about three hours to get to his current location but he was sure that the small plane he was allowed to use was a lot slower than the advanced helicopter he saw taking off. It was now the middle of the night again and everything lay in pitch-black darkness.

At home the senator had a much better security system than where he kept his mobile suits which gave Heero some work to bypass it but a few hours of hard work and typing resulted in a magnificent program that was able to override any signal that was sent from his current position.

With a grim expression he disguised his presence by pressing `ENTER´ and climbed over the high wall that surrounded the premises. It was some hard work with the huge backpack that restricted him in his movements but again this was nothing he couldn't handle. If he wanted to he could jump over a two meter high fence so why should a simple wall that was three meters high hold him back?

He passed several check-points without being seen and finally he reached his target. To his left he spotted the bench where he first had told Duo about his dream. Bittersweet memories floated through him as he remembered that day. The day after they had kissed for the first time. The day he woke up in Duo's arms. The day he had first noticed how tempting Duo was when he ate with his fingers. The day when he braided the soft silkiness that was Duo's hair. The day Duo had cried himself to sleep.

[One day... and so much happened...]

He suppressed a sigh and continued his work in silence.

~z~

[Just one more thing...]

Having finished his tasks he sneaked into the senator's house where he hoped to find the missing piece of his heart.

On first looks nothing seemed to have changed during his absence. But on second look he could see tiny differences in decoration and furniture. For example he was quite sure that the huge portrait of Treize that hung now in the entrance hall had not been there when he first entered the house. He grimaced as he passed it by to get to where he remembered Duo's room.

Being experienced in sneaking into *that* particular room he had no problems to unlock and open the door. Thus he noticed that the lock had changed as well. You were now unable to lock or unlock the door from the inside as everything that reminded of a bar or a handle was completely removed. The only way to open the wooden door was from the outside. Heero assumed that Duo was held captive in his own room because of his actions.

[I just hope that nothing happened to him... Duo, hold out! I'm coming to rescue you!]

To be continued...
