Chapter Eleven: I miss you

Heero sat in the huge, empty house and sighed. Things were almost too quiet here. He hadn't seen any sign of life since he had arrived here, about four days ago. Which meant that Quatre really had let him use an empty house for his deep thinking. Which meant that for once Quatre had actually agreed with Heero that he just needed to be alone to think. Except for once Heero thought that he had been wrong about that.

Heero dropped onto his back and stared up at the ceiling. He knew that right above this room was the bathroom with an enormous bathtub. Heero didn't really know why on earth someone would need a bathtub that big but was sure it was because it was big enough for two people. Big enough for both you and your love interest to be in at the same time.

Was that considered romantic? To take a bath with someone? Heero asked himself. It didn't seem to be very romantic to him. To have to share water with someone while they were trying to clean themselves. Heero assumed it would be embarrassing to actually wash anything so what was the point?

Heero shook his head. He still didn't understand some of the stuff that people did together when they were 'going out'. He wasn't completely confused by it all, he understand why someone would feed food to the other, it was intimate. It was a sign of devotion and complete adoration. But...

Heero assumed that the people taking a bath together would either already be clean or wouldn't join in the bath immediately so they could get clean. So then what was the point? Heero shrugged, that was going to have to be something that Wufei and him didn't do since Heero found it so pointless.

Heero paused and wondered what Heero would do with Wufei. Wufei had mentioned, briefly once, that his other boyfriends were constantly going to his office giving him flowers and taking to him lunch. Did Wufei like that? Or was that something that Wufei would prefer not to have. At the time, Wufei had sounded annoyed with it but there had been something else in his voice, something that Heero had not recongized.

If Duo hadn't kissed him, Heero could ask Duo for advice on the subject. But then again, if Duo hadn't kissed him, he wouldn't be here right now, trying to figure out what was going on.

Heero had thought a lot about Wufei and Duo over the past few days and didn't think that he liked Duo that way. He didn't think that he liked him that way at all. It was just too weird. Sure, technically they had slept together before, when Duo had been having nightmares during the war but that was it. They never did anything besides sleep and Heero didn't think that he would ever want to do something other than that.

But then again, he wasn't too enthusiastic about the idea with Wufei either.

However with Wufei it was for a different reason. Heero didn't want to screw anything up with Wufei. He had heard from Neko about guys that went in too soon and got kicked where the sun doesn't shine. Then they were either dumped or held at an arm's length forever. Neither thing he wanted to experience with Wufei.

With Duo it was because, he just didn't think about it. He didn't think that it was appropriate because he never thought of Duo that way and didn't think that he ever would. That was all there was to it. He had no interest in Duo in the way he did with Wufei. The kiss Duo have given him had been weird, nothing like the ones he had shared with Wufei, even in the beginning.

Heero nodded. Alright, he had figured out which one that he was interested in already but how to tell Duo without hurting his feelings? Heero didn't want to endanger their friendship over that kiss. Maybe he should suggest that they both just forgot about the stupid thing. Kind of like what Wufei and Duo did about their kiss.

Heero shook his head. He didn't know anymore. Duo was his best friend and he would rather lose his arm than hurt him. But on the other hand, Wufei was someone that Heero wanted to hold tight everyday from now on and he would rather die than lose Wufei.

Heero sighed and got up, dragging himself to the video-phone and punched in Quatre's number, hoping he wasn't in a meeting or doing something with Trowa at the moment.

"Hello?" Quatre asked, answering the phone and then smiled as he saw that it was Heero. "Hello Heero, I was wondering when you were going to phone me. Tell me, are you enjoying your stay? The house was well stocked, wasn't it?"

"The house is fine." Heero replied. "I need your advice on something."

"Oh?" Quatre asked. "Well, you know that I'm always here to help and I will try my best."

"Duo kissed me."

Quatre's eyes widened, obviously he was shocked by the news and he coughed, looking away. "Oh. So what do you want to know?"

"Duo says that he likes me alot, more than he liked Wufei and I know how much he liked Wufei." Heero sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "But I don't like him at all that way. I just don't know how to tell him that."

"Oh Heero, I wish I could help you but I can't." Quatre said with regret written all over his face. "That's something only you can do. But here's some advice for you, just tell him straight out. Don't try to sugarcoat it or he might get the wrong impression."

"Hn." Heero frowned.

"I'm sorry I can't be of more help."

"It's alright Quatre." Heero tugged the sides of his mouth up for a brief second and then sighed. "Have you talked to Wufei since I left?"

Quatre nodded. "Yes, I phoned him last night. He is pretty upset by the whole thing Heero. You should phone him."

"Yeah, I guess I should." Heero fingered a picture of Wufei that he had found and put by the phone. "Well, I'd better let you go. I'm sure Trowa doesn't appreciate me occupying so much of your time." Heero grinned a knowing smile.

Quatre blushed and looked down. "I'll talk to you later."

"Tell Trowa I said hi."

"I will."

"Goodbye Quatre." Heero said and then hung up. He got up and migrated to the couch with his picture of Wufei and sighed. That wasn't any help and he was still at the same place he had been before. He still didn't know how to talk to Duo.

Heero took a deep breath and closed his eyes, picturing Wufei's face in his mind as he fell asleep.

------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------

Duo walked into the living room and was surprised to find Wufei sitting there watching some kung-fu movie. Duo sighed and slid into the spot farthest away from Wufei without choosing another couch all together. Wufei didn't even look over at Duo to acknowledge that the braided boy was even there. Duo sighed, this was going to be harder than he had thought it was going to be and he had come up with a couple hundred obstacles in his way.

"Hey Wufei." Duo said in the most cheerful voice he could without sounding fake.

"Duo." Wufei said neutrally.

Duo sighed. Wufei wasn't too pleased with him. Duo was sure that Wufei wasn't going to ask him what exactly had happened between Heero and him that caused Heero to run off to L3 to think about things but Wufei did hold it against Duo. Duo didn't blame him all that much, after all he had chased off the person that Wufei was going out with. But that didn't mean that Wufei should practically ignore him for the whole time.

"So Wufei, what are we watching?" Duo tried to pick up conversation.

"A movie." Came the sharp reply.

"Oh." Duo said with an exasperated sigh. This wasn't going anywhere near he had planned it to. He figured that no matter how mad Wufei was at him, he wouldn't treat him like this. Duo looked around the room and then sighed and settled to watch the movie with Wufei for a while, figuring that eventually Wufei would be okay with him there and maybe even talk to him.

The movie ended about half an hour later, Duo figured and Wufei still didn't say anything. Duo figured that maybe he was just too enthralled in the movie or something. So Duo turned to Wufei as the movie ended and studied Wufei up and down for a second and then shrugged.

"So, you hear from Heero lately?" Duo asked, as neutrally as he could.

Wufei turned to look at Duo and sighed, realizing prehaps that Duo wasn't about to leave. "No, not since the day he arrived on L3."

"Oh, that must suck." Duo sighed. "Alright, do you want to know why he left? Or should I just keep it to myself? I figure that since you're his boyfriend, you should know what exactly is going on." Duo sat back and waited as Wufei thought it out.

"Alright, what happened?" Wufei asked. "I know that you told him something but what in the hell was it that made him actually have to leave to think about it?"

"I told him that maybe, if you wanted to, we could have a three-way relationship going." Duo said with a smile. He had figured out a long time ago that Heero wasn't going to give up Wufei but maybe this would work and technically it would get all three of them what they wanted. "You know, you and me, you and Heero and me and Heero."

Wufei blinked and shook his head. "I don't think so."

"Why not?" Duo demanded, as he jumped up. "It would be prefect. You know that you and Heero are good for each other when you need something different but I could be the one to give you your affection, which I know you're missing and I could give Heero a chance to not have to be adoring. It would work!"

Wufei shook his head. "If it doesn't work between me and Heero, that's the way it is but I don't think including you would work."

"Why?"

"Because I don't think that Heero thinks about you that way." Wufei said and stood up. "I'm going to go to bed."

Duo sighed. "Whatever. Goodnight Wufei. Think about what I said, won't you?"

Wufei didn't make a commitment either way and he headed upstairs to his room. Duo smiled, he knew that he would at least keep Wufei thinking about it for a while. That was a bonus. Duo sighed and fell on the couch. Duo had thought about it for a long time and figured that it was a perfect plan. Heero would keep Wufei but also get Duo too and not have to worry about hurting either of their feelings. Wufei would get Heero still but Duo knew that Wufei did like Duo too so that way he'd get both of he wanted. And it was no secret that Duo liked both of them. Why couldn't Wufei see it like that?

It was so simple and yet Wufei was making it so hard. And when Heero did phone Wufei, then Wufei could tell him about it and how he thought it was a great idea and then Heero being Heero would agree and they would have the perfect relationship.

Duo sighed. Maybe this was like that stupid kiss, something that he should never have done but ended up doing anyways just because he was stupid enough to do it. Duo didn't know anymore.

Why couldn't anyone just for once try to make him happy?

------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------

Wufei stepped out of the shower the next morning with nothing more than a towel wrapped around his waist. Duo had gone out for the morning to go and talk to Une about something and so Wufei was all alone in the house and he was glad of that. If he didn't have to see Duo again for a while, it would be the second best thing that had ever happened to him in his entire 19 years of living.

He knew that Duo was probably feeling left out because of the fact that Wufei and Heero were now more than friends but that didn't mean that he had to practically invite himself into their relationship. He had no right to attempt to put distance between him and the best thing that had ever happened to him in his life. There was no reason for it and Wufei was almost starting to doubt Duo's sencerity as his friend.

But then again, Heero was handsome and Wufei had been convinced for so long that Duo was interested in Heero that maybe it wasn't that difficult to imagine. While if things had worked out differently and Wufei had been the odd one out, Wufei would have merely stepped aside, it was hard to see Duo doing that. Duo could be annoying sometimes and he tended to believe that if he wanted something, he was going to get it no matter what anyone thought.

That excluded Heero of course. Wufei wasn't about to give up Heero to Duo just because Duo thought that he should get him. Heero was with him now and Wufei wasn't about to let that go right after he got it. Wufei sighed and made his way down to the living room as he attempted to find his brush.

The phone rang and Wufei sighed as he headed over to it. Wufei pressed the recieve button and Heero's face appeared on the screen. Wufei stepped back a step and took a good look at Heero's image.

Heero was wearing a light blue shirt that could be buttoned up but currently wasn't. The fabric was parted in the middle and it revealed Heero's defined abs which actually looked like they had been worked on lately. By the sweat that beaded on Heero's face, Wufei was willing to bet that Heero had just been working on them and then changed into the shirt after his workout. Heero's bangs were soaked in sweat and looked to be even darker than usual. A drop of sweat was collecting at the end of one of the unruly locks. Heero also had his head cocked to one side and was staring at Wufei in a way that was making Wufei swallow hard. Heero Yuy looked absolutely delectable at the moment and it took all of Wufei's control not to run to a shuttle and fly to L3 as fast as he could.

"Hello Wufei." Heero said slowly that if Wufei didn't know better he would have thought that it was actually a purr. "I was hoping to catch you before you went to the office."

Wufei swallowed again and looked at Heero, trying not to drool. "I'm not going to the office today. There are no mission and I finished my last write-up a while ago. Une said I could have a couple of days off."

"Oh." Heero said with a grin. "So does that mean you're alone or did Duo weasel his way out of work too?"

"I'm all alone." Wufei said and groped behind him for a seat and plopped down on it. "Why did you call? Are you ready to come home?" Wufei hoped that it was that possibility. With Duo gone to work and neither of them really having to do anything since Heero had resigned at the store, after deciding that Neko would be okay by herself if Heero did occasionally come by, and Heero technically didn't have to go to work if he didn't want to. After all, the dogs were only being trained the basic stuff at the moment and practically anybody could do that if they wanted to.

Heero shook his head lightly, making his hair cling to his forehead. "No, I'm not quite ready to come back yet. I'm still thinking about a few things." Heero sighed and looked Wufei up and down. "Do you realize you're still in a towel?"

Wufei looked down and blushed. "I uh...just got out of the shower."

"I guessed that." Heero shrugged. "Doesn't bug me though." Heero winked which made Wufei fault and have to grab the arms of the chair. "Anyways, listen, I just wanted to call you to tell you that I miss you and I hope you found that note in the bedroom."

Wufei nodded. "Yeah I did." Wufei smiled. "Want to go for Chinese food when you get back? I know a great chinese restaurant uptown. It has great food, good service and a lot of privacy. We can talk there and not be disturbed."

Heero grinned. "That would be great Wufei. I'd like that." Heero grinned and stretched upward in his chair which gave Wufei a glorious view and the information that Heero was only in boxers. {1} Wufei had to bite back a moan because at the moment Heero finished his stretch. "Anyways, I was actually calling for a reason."

"Oh? What's that?" Wufei asked, trying to not think of the fact that Heero was hot and sweaty and only in boxers. Wufei couldn't believe that he was getting this bothered over something that simple but it seemed that he was.

"I wanted to tell you that I missed you." Heero said with a small smile. "I know that it may seem stupid that I would phone you and waste time on something as small as that but I had to tell you." Heero hid under his bangs, away from Wufei's studious look.

"You missed me?" Wufei asked, the shock highly apparent in his voice.

"Yes."

"Heero Yuy, if you were here right now I think that I would-" Wufei paused a second as he tried to think of a suitable award. "hug you until I thought that if I hugged you any longer I would kill you." Wufei beamed. "I can't believe you actually called me because you miss me."

Heero looked up and smiled again. "Well I did. I haven't stopped thinking about you since I woke you up." Heero looked a little embarassed at his confession but was still trying to smile about it. "I think I'm going to be coming home sooner than I thought I would. I have everything pretty much figured out, I just need to work on how to explain something."

"Explain what?" Wufei asked, remembering how Duo had said that Heero had run because he had told Heero his idea that they should be in a three-way relationship.

Heero looked at Wufei and sighed. "I can't tell you that. You're alone with Duo and I don't want Duo to die because of what he did." Heero shook his head. "Lets just say that I have to figure out how to turn Duo down without hurting his feelings."

Wufei couldn't help himself and grinned widely. "I can't wait for you to come home."

Heero nodded. "I'll phone you when I get a flight and you can come and pick me up."

"Alright."

"Bye Wufei."

"Goodbye Heero."

Wufei hung up the phone with a huge smile on his face. His day just brightened up more than he thought it would.

{1-I always picture guys in either boxers or nothing (it's not my fault, really...lol) . It's a character flaw ^^ So basically, if Heero's not wearing pants, like in this scene, he has to be in boxers otherwise this will be no longer rated pg-13 ::sigh:: I know alot of people don't think that Heero would ever wear boxers (because it wouldn't really work with his spandex shorts) but eh,}

{A/N: You know what really bugs me? When people review your story to tell you that they don't like yaoi fanfics....It's not like they weren't warned and if they really don't like them, why in the heck are they reading them? It's not like I didn't tell them it was yaoi in the summary ::shakes her head:: ...
Or what was worse is that someone actually reviewed me to tell me that my story was bad because it wasn't yaoi (obviously different fanfic but...)...::rolls her eyes::...I mean really people!! Exercise your free will and just don't read it!
Anyways, Thanks all the people that are happy with this story ^^ You guys are the best ever!!!!
Next chapter we get to find out how Duo reacts to the idea Heero isn't going to dump Wufei for him...something tells me I'm not going to like the next chapter...poor Duo...look what I had to do to him without meaning to ::has about three hundred ideas of what Duo could possibly do and they all require temper tantrums or the sort::
R&R as always ^^ It really does brighten up my day ^^ And a happy authoress is an updating authoress
Nah, I'm just kidding...but reviews are nice!}
