Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Giri? Ninjo. Koibito! ❯ Chapter 4
We decided to meet each other at the dance. The class rep had asked Duo for some last minute help with decorating, but they were not meeting until later in the afternoon. I spent the remainder of the class sneaking peeks at Duo. Duo's eyes … Duo's lips … Duo's legs …
It amazed me how attractive he was. It amazed me that I'd never noticed it before; I felt like I had never really *looked* at him before. I had a lot of time to make up for, ne? I wondered briefly if the professors would be shocked. During my childhood, I endured rigorous training to make me a perfect soldier. It had been pounded into my head, giri before ninjo, duty before human emotion.
Was I betraying my training? No, I rationalized. The mission was to blend in as a normal teenager. I might never get another chance to do so. And, I decided triumphantly, no normal 14-year old boy could resist the urges that a gorgeous creature like Duo instilled. I felt perversely proud of my logic.
Class ended, and I watched Duo stand up and gracefully pull his hair over one shoulder. He picked up his bookbag and slung it over the other shoulder, dipping slightly under the weight. Before I was aware I was speaking, I asked "Can I get that for you?" Duo's eyes widened in surprise, and I quickly added: "It's customary for a boy to offer to carry a girl's books."
"Aa," he stammered. As he handed the bookbag to me, our fingertips brushed against each other and we both blushed. "I have the notes for the first few days of chem," I said. "Do you want them?"
He agreed, and I rummaged through my bag only to find that I had left the notes in my room. As it turned out, we both had a break scheduled so we decided to go get the notes and catch up on some of the homework. I let us into my room, which was bare save a single bed, a bathroom, a desk, and my laptop.
"Love what you've done with the place," Duo said with a wink. "Got any food? I'm starved!" He made a show of fainting and collapsed on my bed in giggles.
"Aa. I'll order pizza." I did, and soon found myself sitting across from Duo on the bed, chem notes and homework spread out between us. Duo ate four slices of pizza, and then wrinkled his nose cutely. "That was great, but I'll never fit into my dress now!"
"Must be a small dress," I commented.
"Very," Duo said with a wink. "And I'm sure I just gained five pounds." His mouth turned down in a little moue of disappointment and he pinched his side demonstratively.
"Let me see," I said, and reached out to feel for myself.
"Hey! That tickles!"
"Hn." I grinned, and tickled Duo ruthlessly. He laughed breathlessly as he tried to wriggle away from me. I was pulling him closer, still tickling, when a loud beep sounded from my laptop.
A message. It might be from the professors. I thought for a second about ignoring it, but … duty called. I reluctantly got up and walked over to the laptop. I could see Duo readjusting his skirt and cursed silently. It had better be good. Then I read the message and groaned. It was from Relena.
| Hee-ro, I have found you again! I hear you
| are in a nearby school and I know you must
| plan to come see me! I am sorry to spoil your
| surprise, but I can't wait to see you again Heero.
| Please come as soon as you can. Love always,
| Lena.
My fist clenched in anger as I re-read the email. Relena just wouldn't give up. I had never implied that I liked her, but she was convinced that I was in love with her and that we would live happily ever after. And she was always crying my name in that annoying, nasal voice. I realized that my hand hurt, and noticed that I had been clenching my fist so hard my fingers were white.
I didn't realize that Duo had gotten up to read over my shoulder until he asked, "Girlfriend?"
"I don't want to talk about it."
I realized afterward that it probably wasn't the right thing to say. Duo excused himself to go meet the class rep. He probably hadn't known that the message was from Relena, since she had signed it with a nickname. Well, I told myself, it was no big deal. But still, I hadn't wanted him to go. I looked at my empty hands. My blood was racing and I could still feel his soft skin on my fingertips ….
Heero no baka!
