Bless the Broken Road: Rascal Flatts

 

 

~I set out on a narrow way, many years ago. Hoping I would find true love along the broken road~

 

(Heero Yuy as a child walking down a cobbled road on X18999. He had lost his father figure and was now alone without anyone to guide him. Then he meets Doctor J and asks Heero if he wanted to pilot a Gundam.)

 

~But I got lost a time or two. Wiped my brow and kept pushing through. I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you~

 

(Heero fighting against the Oz and gets hurt, not wanting his friends help. He sits in the cockpit of Wing Zero, making repairs and calculations.)

 

~That every long lost dream led me to where you are. Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars. Pointing me on my way, into your loving arms~

 

(Heero sitting at his laptop till Duo, Quatre, Trowa and Wufei grabbed him and dragged him out of the house, toward a park. Playing ridiculous games at Duo's suggestion the get the brown hair soldier to play too.)

 

~This much I know is true. That God blessed the broken road. That led me straight to you~

 

(Heero leaned against a tree as he watched his friends with hooded eyes. Duo was chasing a butterfly as Wufei yelled at him to sit down and Trowa and Quatre laughed at the spectacle. Heero allowed himself a small smirk at the game.)

 

~I think about the years I spent just passing through. I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you~

 

(Heero remembers when he had fought Mariemeia and how he left the others without saying good-bye. He hoped they didn't hate him for it, but it was the way he was. As he walked down the streets of the L1 colony he looked up when he heard familiar laughers.)

 

~But you just smile and take my hand. You've been there, you understand. It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true~

 

(Duo was the one who spotted him first. Yelling the ex-soldier's name he pointed Heero out to the others. They all smiled and ran toward their friend and busily asked him questions. Heero smirked softly and answered then like he always did.)

(Heero watched his friends as they shared lunch at a café. Duo had stolen another on of Wufei's rolls and was taunting the Chinese into begging for it back, instead getting him madder. Quatre was trying to have Duo give it back and Trowa was watching the spectacle with silent eyes.)

 

~This much I know is true. That God blessed the broken road. That led me straight to you~

 

(Heero watched his friends with a shielded smile. Nothing had changed since the time they separated. He was actually glad that he was back with his friends.)

 

~Now I'm just rollin' home, into my lovers arms. This much I know is true. That God blessed the broken road. That led me straight to you~

 

(Duo had latched onto Heero's neck and playfully put the soldier in a head lock. Heero laughed and returned it. The other's looked shocked at Heero for a second before laughing too. Heero smiled at his friends as he felt, for the first time, like he was at home.)
