*THUMP* "Do it again, Heewo!"
Wufei had jumped slightly at the muffled crash from the living room, and was
definitely spurred into action by Chibi Quatre's 'encouragement.' He darted
into the room just in time to snag the Japanese chibi-clone out of the air as he
jumped off the top of the china cabinet.
"Heero, what, exactly, are you doing?" he asked evenly as the three children in
the room giggled; Chibi Wufei and Chibi Trowa were in their bedroom working on a
card for the elder Trowa.
For a moment, he wondered just *when* the five chibi-clones had decided that he
was their 'daddy' and the French/Latino teen was their 'mommy,' but it really
didn't seem important. It made the bois happy, which made life a little easier
for everyone.
Chibi Heero giggled again. "I pwaying parachute!" he chirped, tugging at the
blanket that was tucked into the back of his shirt. Judging from the fact that
the American and Arabian chibis likewise were sporting blanket-parachutes, Wufei
had arrived just in time to stop the 'second wave.'
The Chinese teen sighed heavily. "Bois, you can *not* go around jumping off the
furniture," he scolded gently, collecting all the blankets and dropping them on
the couch. "What if you were to fall wrong and hit your heads? Then you'd have
to spend the night at the hospital with all the mean old nurses who don't like
little bois and won't let you have *any* fun."
Chibi Quatre shook his head in protest. "Nuh-uh! You'd take us to see Aunt
Sawwy fiwst, Daddy! An' she lets us play wiff her steffa... stetha... heart
listening thingy!"
Wufei shook his head, trying to keep from chuckling at the little one's
mispronunciation and overall kawaii factor. "Okay, okay, that's true. BUT," he
added, eyes stern and obviously (to the chibi-bois) in Daddy Mode, "I still
don't want you jumping off the china cabinet OR the bookshelf. If you HAVE to
jump off the furniture, make it the couch and the coffee table, okay?"
"Wufei!"
"We promise, Daddy!" the three bois chimed before darting off to their room past
Trowa, who was giving his boyfriend a semi-stern look.
"What?" the sloe-eyed teen said. "It was either get them to promise that or
find them lying on the floor bleeding after leaping off the bookshelf."
The brunette shook his head, eyes laughing even though he was trying to remain
expressionless. "And to think *you're* the disciplinarian."
"Damn straight, angel." Wufei moved to kiss his boyfriend lightly on the mouth,
then frowned. "Tro? What's up?"
The emerald-eyed youth chewed his lip for a moment before taking a deep breath
and settling onto the couch. "You remember that phone call last night?"
Wufei sank down next to Trowa, concern lighting his eyes. "Hai, koi, I
remember. What was that about anyway?"
"Well... apparently, only a select few OZ officers were privy to the cloning
project. Those few, surprisingly, did not include either our favorite general
or semi-psychotic lieutenant colonel."
Onyx eyes widened. "Neither Khushrenada nor Une was notified?!"
Trowa shook his head. "No. And judging from her rather strained tone, Une was
*pissed*. It seems," he continued, mindful of Wufei's reaction, "that there
were more than just the five bois we found. There are three more. Two bois and
a girl."
"Do I want to guess who the other three are?" the Chinese teen asked, lightly
scratching his love's back. "Because my mind is only coming up with
Khushrenada, Une, and Merquise."
"Right first try, dragon." Trowa sighed heavily and dropped his head into his
hands. "She also said they'd managed to steal--yes, *steal*--the files on the
cloning project that we didn't manage to locate on our mission. It seems that
they were created in two generations; Khushrenada, Une and Merquise were the
first generation--"
"--while our clones were the second," Wufei finished, anger lighting his eyes.
To think that the OZ scientists would go behind their superiors' backs in such a
manner, even going so far as to actually *clone* said superiors was unthinkable!
"Was there anything else?"
Trowa nodded. "There are an odd number in each generation so that there is an
overlap of sorts. They were created to exist in pairs... either for comfort as
I would prefer or for later experimentation, which I fear was the case.
Khushrenada and Une, Fei-chan and Tro-chan, Du-chan and Quat-chan, and--"
Wufei finished the thought: "Merquise and Hee-chan. That's why he doesn't sleep
well at night, he's lonely."
"Not for long."
Onyx eyes locked with emerald, curiosity in the first set. "Nani?"
The slender teen sighed. "That was why Une called. After reading the files,
she and Khushrenada came to the conclusion that it would be best for the pairs
to be kept together. She wants to meet with one of us--she said it didn't
matter which of us went--tomorrow night."
Wufei nodded, wondering in the back of his mind just how their little family was
going to change. He couldn't imagine life without Chibi Heero, even if the boi
was an accident waiting to happen. He was part of the family, and the Chinese
pilot knew that it would hurt all of them to see him go.
