~Four Months Later~

Zechs swore continually as he hacked into the computer. He found out that the rebel organization otherwise called "Friends for the Colonies" was out to restart the war. Their goal was to finally free the colonies from Earth once and for all. Even though the colonies had as much freedom as any other country in the world. This organization didn't want them to be part of the United Earth Sphere Nation. The group had already made their own army and were almost ready to strike at the Preventers.

Zechs typed frantically, he knew his time was short. When he infiltrated he thought it would be a piece of cake but he was wrong. Two days ago they had found out his real identity some how and now were trying to kill him. He had locked himself in this computer room, frantically trying to type out and send Une the latest report and prepare them for the upcoming war.

He heard the soldiers banging at the locked door. He didn't even glance at the door, he just kept typing. Finally he got it typed and sent it out on a secured line. Or at least he hoped it was secure. The soldiers kept banging on the door trying to break it down. Zechs took a deep breath and pulled out a slim detonator. He had set up bombs throughout the building before he got trapped in this room.

He took a few moments to think about Noin and his kids. He smiled with affection as he mentally pulled up pictures of them in his mind. The way Noin smiled at him, the way his kids would sit enraptured as he told them stories. He was saddened that he wouldn't be able to watch them grow up or grow old with Noin.

He looked around the room one last time and was startled to find glowing violet eyes and the outline of a boy. He felt a wave of calm flow through his body and he nodded to the boy. He sighed once and smiled while he pressed the button down just as the door splintered open. His last thought was of Noin and his kids sitting by the fire on New Years.

The base blew up in fiery haze. The tremor from the explosion was felt for miles around. There was nothing left of the building or of Zechs.

~Preventers Headquarters~

Une's eyes widened when Heero told her what had happened. He had gotten the email that morning and knew that Zechs had not made it. Une trembled in her seat. Zechs, one of her greatest warriors was dead. Tears came to her eyes but she harshly kept them back. She felt a hand squeeze her shoulder and looked up into the saddened eyes of Heero. She put her hand atop of his and squeezed back. She took a deep breath then picked up the phone. She dialed Noin's office number.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Noin. It's me Une. Could you please come up to my office."

"What's wrong?"

"Just come up."

"Alright."

Then Une hung up. She looked up at Heero, "Could you get the others. She's going to need her friends."

Heero nodded and left the room. Une was left in the room alone for a few minutes and she steeled herself for what she was about to tell Noin. Then Noin pushed the door open.

"You wanted to see me?"

Une looked up at her and a tear slipped out and snaked it's way down her face.

"Noin…I…something happened…"

Noin gasped, "Is Zechs okay? Where is he? How badly is he hurt?" During her growing unease Noin reached up and grasped Une's shirt.

Une reached up with both hands and grabbed Noin's hands.

"Zechs…he…Zechs didn't make it."

Noin's mouth fell open in shock. She stood there for a few minutes while Une continued to babble, "The base, it exploded. There's nothing left. I'm so sorry Noin. They found out about him. I'm sorry."

Then Noin pulled her hands from Une's, "No…You lie!!! He can't be dead. He said he was going to be back."

Tears were running down Noin's face as she said this. Une moved toward her to hug her but Noin pushed her away.

"I'm so sorry."

"NO!! YOU LIE!!! HE CAN'T BE DEAD! Tell me you're joking. PLEASE!!"

"It's no joke. He's dead."

Noin screamed loudly and took one of the chairs near her and threw it across the room. Just then the others came in and glanced sadly at the hysterical Noin. Quatre rushed in and hugged Noin fiercely. She struggled against him but then gave up and slumped into her arms. The others gathered around her to give her some support.

Une stood near her desk and tried valiantly to not cry. Heero looked up at her and left the group huddled over the form of Noin. He stood beside Une and Une drew from his strength.

~Zechs Funeral~

The funeral took place a couple of days later. Rain poured from the sky and onto the mourners.

Noin wore all black and stood with her two children who were also wearing black. Noin was sobbing into a handkerchief as the funeral ceremony went underway. Sally and Relena were standing by her, and giving her their support while holding an umbrella. They both were crying as well. Quatre, Wufei, Heero and Trowa were the pallbearers and they stood on one side of the casket in their uniforms. Zechs' empty casket lay over the lowering device which would lower the casket into the grave. On top of the casket was the Sanq National Flag.

The four pallbearers moved forward and folded the flag. Then Heero stood in front of Noin and gave her the folded triangle that was the flag. Then saluted her and she broke down crying. In the background the Sanq National Anthem played.

Then four uniformed men moved to the side and rose their guns and did a 21 gun salute.

Heero stood at full attention and looked straight ahead. Then out of the corner of his eyes he thought he saw a man with a braid swinging down his back with Zechs. But he dismissed it as an hallucination.

~Later~

After the funeral there was a gathering at Noin's house. Noin sat in the main room on a couch. She had stopped crying but she was far from healed. She sat there and stared into nothing hardly acknowledging anyone. Relena sat next to her with tears in her eyes. Sally sat on the other side. They spoke for Noin when someone came by to give their condolences.

Heero, Quatre, Wufei and Trowa stood one side of the room sipping their drinks. Zechs' children, Alexandria and Martin sat on the floor in front of their mother. Then Martin stood up and Alexandria followed him. They held hands as they walked to the four men.

Martin stopped in front of Heero and looked up at him, "Uncle Heero, you'll find the ones who killed dad, right?"

Heero looked down at the boy and nodded. Martin then looked to the others. They also nodded. Martin nodded and took walked back to his mother with his sister in hand. An older man walked over to the boy and patted him on the shoulder.

"Your father was a great man. He will be missed. I'm sorry for your loss."

Martin glared up at the man, "Yes, my father was a great man, but he's not gone."

The man looked down at the boy in surprise. Martin continued on.

"My grandmother told me that nobody is ever gone if you keep them in your heart. My father is there, in my heart."

Then Martin walked over to his mother and hugged her. His sister did the same while still holding Martin's hand.

Heero, Wufei, Quatre and Trowa knew that even though Zechs was dead he would still live on in the hearts of his son and daughter. Forever.
