After the cricket incident Heero and Duo had gone about in taking extra safety precautions as to prevent any future injuries that may accidentally occur to their child and the Winner Heir. The pair did not want to face and angry Quatre and Trowa should their child accidentally trip and bump his head onto the corner of a sharp table.

All rough edges had been polished into smooth surfaces and sharp corners had been sanded down to become round edges. Every room except for the kitchen and training room were carpeted to keep the children safe from harm. Heero and Duo wanted the children to be safe. They also wanted the children to be normal.

This was one of the reasons why Heero was so tense this morning. The children were growing up and in need of proper education. Heero had spent the past week researching the nearby school's background. The nearby school, "Trinity College" (1) that accepted children starting from the age of five. The school was well known for the quality of students it created. They were well mannered, intelligent and had many talents. Most of the students that graduated from the school became leaders of different states and colonies. Heero typed a short note to Quatre informing him that they were going to enroll his son into Trinity College.

Duo held the children's hands tightly as they cross the road at the zebra crossing.

"Now" He began "When you come to school next week you will have to cross this road. Make sure that you cross here, where there are black and white stripes on the road ok?"

The children nodded in affirmation. Heero was tagging behind the group looking at the enrollment forms that he had downloaded from the school's website. Heero was nervous. He had never been to primary school before. He had head al the stories that Duo had told him about primary school, all of which involved him and a bully of some sort. Heero was scared that something similar might happen to Priscilla but Duo had laughed it off saying that Priscilla knew enough martial arts to kick butt and that David would be there to protect her just like he always had. Nevertheless Heero was still scared.

The two adults and two children arrived at the school and made their way to the front office which was located in between the primary (2) and high school area. Priscilla was fascinated at the size of the school and the nature within it. There were many different types of flowers that resided in the school gardens. Priscilla wanted very much to run over to the flowerbeds and pluck one of them out but knew that would have to wait. The enrollment process that her fathers talked about seemed more important.

Duo and the children sat outside in the office lobby while Heero spoke with the office lady who was currently processing the forms.

"I want the children to be in the same class."

"Sorry sir but David is older than Priscilla. He will begin his school life at Trinity at year 1 while Priscilla will start at Kindergarten."

Duo, who had been showing the kids the trophies in the cabinets exploded.

"Kindergarten!" He exclaimed. "There is no way that my daughter is going to start in kindergarten. These children before you are intelligent. You should treat them with the respect they deserve."

"Duo relax." Intervened Heero. "I haven't mentioned that these children were raised by ex Gundam pilots. Why don't you take the children down to the uniform shop? I'll sort this out and be there with you soon."

Duo scowled at Heero before turning to the children.

"C'mon kiddos. Daddy's taking you to the uniform shop!" he said before whisking the kids off in that direction. Once inside he picked out some clothes and whisked the kids into change rooms to try them on. A few minutes later David emerged from his change room.

"Erm, Uncle Duo do I have to wear this vest? It's so uncomfortable."

Duo took one look at him was absolutely horrified that the children needed to wear such restrictive clothing to school as it didn't allow much movement for the kids to run and jump in.

"Daddy?"

Duo turned around and looked at Priscilla who appeared equally as uncomfortable. He crouched down and pulled at his daughter's blazer. No wonder the children were uncomfortable. The material was as stiff as cardboard. He went around and checked to see if the clothing fit the children. He found bits of loose thread that informed him the sewing was poorly done. Duo made a mental note to make his own alterations to the uniforms and to buy a lot of fabric softener once they got home. Duo told the children to get changed back into their normal clothes before paying for the items. Heero walked in just in time to see Duo paying at the front counter. Noticing that his love had returned from the office he bounded up to him.

"How did everything go?" he asked.

"Priscilla and David have both been enrolled in a combined class consisting of year ones and twos."

Priscilla came out of her change room and when she spied her other father she ran towards him and hugged his legs.

"Daddy I don't want to wear the dumb uniform. I don't want to go to this dumb school."

Heero sighed and pried his little girl off him. "Sorry Priscilla but you're starting next week."

"What about me?" asked David, who had also come out of his change room.

Heero repeated the information to both children. He explained that both children would be in the same class and that they could skip ahead and do year two work if they wanted to. The fact that the children were going to be in the same class made them a little happier.

It was close to midnight and Heero was about to go to bed when he saw a light in the living room. Changing into soldier mode Heero tiptoed to the kitchen to arm himself with the sharpest knife in the house. Quietly he dropped to the ground and made his way to the corner of the living room closest to the loveseat. Heero noted that the thick carpet muffled any noise his feet made. Scanning the room from his position he noticed that the window was wide open and saw that there was somebody sitting on Duo's favorite couch. From his position Heero couldn't make out how big the intruder was or what the intruder was doing. Being short didn't help either. Mentally Heero made a plan of attack and launched himself at the intruder.

"Ah Shit! Heero? Fuck man! Dammit that hurts!"

Heero had the intruder pinned to the ground. His eyes widened when he realized that the intruder was Duo who was currently holding David's uniform. A needle was sticking out of his right index finger.

"Whatcha go and do that for? Didn't you see me sitting there?"

Heero shook his head and got off Duo who had taken the needle out of his finger and was currently sucking on it.

"Sorry Duo. Its late and I thought…intruder…you…what are you doing so late at night?! You're usually fast asleep in bed at this hour."

Duo took the half bleeding finger out of his mouth.

"I was making some changes to the children's uniforms, ya know make it more comfortable and easier to move around in. It's really important for a child to be comfortable in a new surrounding. It gives them extra confidence to do and complete tasks when their parents aren't there for them."

Heero tuned out of Duo's continuous babble and studied the uniforms that were now strewn all over the carpeted. He saw where Duo had pulled out bad seems and carefully restitched the material. He noticed how neat the seams were where the skirt was hemmed. Heero mentally punished himself for not noticing how much the children starting school was for Duo. It should have been obvious. Duo had never had a good childhood and now he wanted the best for his own child and for his nephew.

"Heero are you alright?"

Heero snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Duo's voice.

"Yeah I'm alright. Do you want some help with this? I can't really sew unless you call sewing up wounds sewing." Heero paused. "Would you like a band aid?" he asked hopefully.

Duo laughed. Heero almost sounded like Quatre just then. "No I'm fine. Really I am. I've only got a little bit more to do and then I'm finished."

Heero nodded, sat beside Duo and observed his love gather the material and sew it all together with a swift flick of the wrist. That's my Duo, Heero thought. He's the one that's trying as hard as he can to get everything together.

(1) I couldn't think of another name so sorry if this offends anybody who attends this school.
