Chapter 9: Duo's Birthday

Duo woke that morning to Heero already awake, and smiling at him. "Happy Birthday, koi.", he said, kissing Duo on the cheek.

"What? But... Heero, I don-", Duo started.

"You do now.", Heero stated, "I got Trowa to help me get you a birth certificate that states today is...",

Duo looked at Heero for a couple seconds, "... You did that for me?",

"Well, yes. It's not as hard as you think it'd be to prove you're alive.", Heero explained, "So, what do you want to do today?",

"I've... Never really thought about it, what do people do on their birthdays?", Duo asked.

"Special things they hardly do.", Heero stated.

"Okay, well then, first, can we go to the park?", Duo asked.

"Sure, love.", Heero whispered, "I'll be back in a bit, I have something to check on.",

Hence Heero de- solidified, and sunk through the floor.

So, they headed out, took a horse and buggy ride to the park, before taking a boat to the lake, and Duo even went to have a hot fudge sundae, and before long they returned to the Pica. Soon as Duo entered all the kids came out from the kitchen signing happy birthday, and they all had cake, and gave Duo his presents. "Now, it's my turn.", Heero stated, taking out a small box, "Duo, I want you to have this.",

"What is it Heero?", Duo asked.

"You'll see, open it.", Heero smiled.

Duo did so, "Oh my God... Heero it's beautiful...", Duo gasped.

"It's a new star I made.", Heero explained.

"A... Star? Really, Heero you didn't need to...", Duo stated.

"Yes, I did...", Heero stated, happily.

Later that night as Duo gazed at the beautiful star as he contemplated what his first true birthday had been like...
