Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Wing or any of the characters, (or anything affiliated with Gundam Wing). They belong to Bandi Entertainment, Sunrise Entertainment, and the original creator. If I did own them, I'd be rich. Other characters, however, are mine in affiliation with Kirin Rei Shido. She knows that I also have these characters and am writing my own fic based on them. My fan fiction, however, mainly focuses on my character, Shin Kaze Kinyoubi. Besides, I don't even really have a computer that works very well so if you want to sue me, you won't get much. I have to use other people's computer. Well, thanks and I hope you enjoy. ^_^

I have made some small changes regarding time lines in After Colony history. I kind of forgot that the Maxwell Church Tragedy happened when the pilots were eight until I read Episode Zero again. So Duo couldn't have been at the church when he was ten now could he? Heh heh, my mistake.

Gundam Wing: Next - Last Mission

--------------------------------------------

Shin Kinyoubi sat in front of a dark colored desk. It looked like stained Cedar wood. She sipped a kind of golden-honey colored tea from a very fine China teacup. Shin looked at her watch. She was growing impatient. If it wasn't for the uncertainty of when the man of the office would be back, she would have already been done and on her way. She would give the man five more minutes. If he didn't show up then she was going to leave and come back later. She would have to come back later. This was her mission, after all, and she couldn't fail a mission.

Suddenly, the door opened. The curly-brown hair girl turned around to see a young blonde man walking into the office. It was he; the man she had come to talk to about getting work at one of his resource satellites. Shin was going undercover to get some information for the organization she worked for. Her friends and her so-called `boyfriend' would be proud of her; and so would `he'.

"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting, Miss…"

Shin smiled. "Archer, Reina Archer. It's no problem, Mr. Winner. I haven't been waiting long." She said in a sweet voice. She didn't lie either, it hadn't been that long, but her patients could grow very thin, very fast. Shin didn't really like waiting for long periods of time, especially when it came to something that had to do with a mission.

"You can feel free to call me Quatre, Miss Archer."

"Thank you, but I rather call you Mr. Winner, until I get to know you better." She smiled again. "But you can feel free to call me Reina."

"Okay. So, Reina, you want to work at one of my satellites, huh?"

She fixed her black skirt. "Yes, sir." She was being so professional and he was buying it.

"Well, what position have you considered?"

"Something in an office, and a computer?"

"Well, you look like you would work well in an office."

Good. That's what she wanted to hear. She wanted access to computers.

"How about a secretary?"

A secretary? He was going to make her a secretary? Before she went on this mission she was a well-respected officer at the organization and now she was a secretary? This meant that she would be answering phones all day long and doing other peoples work for them.

`This bites.' Shin thought. `But at least it's in an office.'

"A secretary sounds great." She said with little to no enthusiasm in her voice.

"I meant I want you as my secretary." Quatre said.

`His…secretary? This may turn out better than I thought.' Shin unknowingly smiled.

"When can you start?"

"As soon as possible."

"Okay. Can you come in tomorrow morning at five?"

`Five?! Is he crazy?! The sun isn't even up at that time!! It's still dark at five in the morning! Most people don't even get up that early to go to work.' "Sure."

"Okay. I'll see you tomorrow then. Sorry, but I really have to go, I have very important things to do."

"Of course." Shin smiled. As she left the office building, her Shinimegami smile formed.

----------------------------------------

"Kinyoubi reporting."

"Report."

"I'm in. I start tomorrow morning as Quatre Winner's secretary."

"Good work. Call me when you get something."

"Roger."

"Shido out."

Shin felt kind of bad taking advantage of a nice guy like Quatre Winner. She really didn't want to steel information from him. But this was a mission and a failed mission meant death. She wasn't about to die for not doing something as simple as getting a few files on one of the most famously known people in the universe. Shin didn't want to do this but she knew she had to. It was life or death for her. Besides, Kirin Shido and Yume Okinawa, Shin's two best friends and other two parts of the Triad, would kill her. Then `he' would kill all three of them.

Shin decided to get some sleep since she had to be at her new `job' at five in the morning. She would probably have to wake up at three just to get ready and leave on time.

----------------------------------------

"Good morning, Mr. Winner."

"Good morning, Reina. How was your night?"

"Pleasant, thank you. And yours?"

"It was…interesting. I had an argument with one of my sisters."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"Yes, well, it seems like everyday I'm having an argument with one of my sisters about something."

"How many sisters do you have, sir?"

"Twenty-nine. We all have different mothers. I guess since we're Arabic, father was just that way. I don't really want to be like father, though."
"The only way you're going to be different from father is if you just be yourself, Quatre."

"Iria…I know that, but everyone else expects me to live up to father's reputation. But I just can't, because of my past."

"Quatre…" Iria said.

----------------------------------------

Shin sat her desk, typing away at the computer. To anyone that just walked into the office it looked like she was typing documents and things for Quatre, but she was really hacking into the system to get information and downloading that information onto a disk. Hopefully, she would have enough to send back to Kirin by lunchtime. Shin sat downloading everything she could find that had anything to do with what the organization needed. Anything that wasn't really needed, Kirin could delete and there would be no problem. She just hoped that she didn't put too much on the disk…if she had then Kirin would kill her the next time she saw the girl because Shin would've made Kirin do almost all the work herself when she relied on Shin for her infiltration and hacking skills.

Shin was good at infiltrating; she had done it just about all of her life. Well, since she joined the organization she had been an infiltrator, and since before Shin could remember, she was a computer genius. She was good at hacking computers, but that skill didn't come until she joined the organization either. Kirin was good at just about anything it seemed. She was a great computer hacker, lock pick, and leader. Kirin was the leader of the Triad, or so it seemed. Most people thought of Kirin to be the boss of the three girls. Kirin out-ranked Shin and was a year younger than the curly hair girl. That was okay, Shin out-ranked most of the older people in the organization anyway so it didn't really matter to her. Shin even out-ranked her `boyfriend'. Besides, Kirin was her best friend.

Shin was busily typing away that she never even noticed the man clad in black standing right in front of her.

"Hey, cutie." The man said.

"Yes? May I help you with something?" Shin asked.

"Nope, not in particular. I'm just here to see Quatre."

"Do you have an appointment with Mr. Winner?"

"No, but he's expecting me."

"So you have an appointment, then?" Shin asked as she flipped through a black folder on her desk.
"I already said I didn't. But I'm a friend of his and he called me and told me to come over whenever I could. Now's the best time I could make it. Looks like I made just in time." The man in black started walking towards the double cherry wood doors.

"Wait! You can't go in there!" Shin said as she stood up, dropping the folder, and tried to block the man's path.

"It's okay, babe. I told you, Quatre's expecting me." The man clad in black opened the two doors and walked inside with Shin following.

"But you need an appointment to see Mr. Winner."

Quatre looked up from his papers and stared at the man in black for a moment. Then with a joyous shout, "Duo! I'm so glad you came. I didn't think anyone was going to come by. It's all right, Reina; he's a friend of mine. Reina, this is Duo Maxwell. Duo, this is my new secretary, Reina Archer."

"Reina, huh? Cute name, it suites you."

Shin blushed at the comment. Shin turned around to leave and felt eyes staring at her from behind.

"Hey, she's not only cute and has a cute name, but she's got a nice ass, too." Duo said.

Shin felt herself blush profusely at the comment as she closed the double doors behind her. Shin sat down at her desk once more and let out a breath she didn't even notice she'd been holding. She sat there thinking about Duo Maxwell.

`He's somewhat of a shrewd person, although he is kind of cute.' Shin caught herself in the middle of a daydream and shook herself out of it. She also realized that Duo was strangely familiar to her.

----------------------------------------

"Kinyoubi reporting. I have everything I could find so far. Uploading now." Shin stuck the disk into her laptop and uploaded the files for her friend to download.

"You found all of this just this morning?"

"Yeah. There maybe some stuff there that we don't need but I thought I would leave that up to you to decide. I didn't want to not include anything that might be of some significance."

Kirin sighed. "All right. I'll take a look at it. I knew you were going to do something like this."

"Sorry."

"It's all right. I'll look at it. Shido out."

----------------------------------------

Kirin Shido sat at her laptop, analyzing the data given to her by Shin. Kirin was surprised, Shin had done all the work and she didn't even know it. Everything on the disk was very significant to the mission.

"This is great." Kirin said to herself. "He'll be very happy with us."

Kirin walked out of her room and walked down the hallway to the cafeteria. She was thirsty so she picked up a cup and filled it with raspberry ice-tea. She walked to the register and slid her card through. She and her friends had gotten access cards that also served as credit cards in the organization since they were the Triad and ranked very high.

After paying for her drink and a bag of chips she decided to get last minute, she headed back to her room. She had work to do; she had to clean the data up somewhat.

"I wonder how Yume's doing." She said as she entered her room and locked the door.

----------------------------------------

Yume Okinawa sat at her desk, playing Solitaire and losing for the umpteenth time in a row. She screamed in frustration. She was never going to win at this stupid game no matter how many times she played it, even if she played the game straight for a million years. Suddenly, a message popped up on her screen. It was from Kirin. She opened the message and read it. Shin had done what she was supposed to do.

"It's about time she does something right." Yume said to herself.

----------------------------------------

Shin was making her way back to the office when she was stopped by the vision of a familiar face.

`Is that who I think it is?' She thought to herself. `It can't be!…Is that Trowa Barton?'

As Shin made her way to the building's door, she passed by a tall man with brown hair, which covered half of his face. He wasn't wearing his usual gray turtleneck shirt and light blue jeans. Today, Trowa Barton was wearing a lovely dark green vest over a black dress shirt and a pair of light to medium gray suit pants along with a pair of black dress shoes. As Shin passed the man, he noticed her and headed for the door quickly.

"Let me get that for you." He said.

"Thank you." Shin said with a smile while she walked into the building. "Thank you very much."

"It was no problem."

"Thank you, again. I must be going. I'm late from my lunch break."

Trowa noticed where the girl was going and decided that he would escort her to not look like he was following her. He wasn't, of course. He just happened to be going the exact same way.

"Oh, let me go with you. I'm headed that way myself."

"Oh. All right. Why, if I may ask, are you here?"

"I'm here to see a dear friend of mine. And you?"

"Well, I work here."

"I've never seen you here before. Are you new?"

"Yes." Shin said shyly, "I'm Mr. Winner's new secretary."

"Oh, so you must be Reina. Quatre told us all how wonderful you are as a secretary."

Shin blushed at the statement. "I've only been his secretary for half a day."

"And he called me to come over so that I could meet his new secretary. Actually, he said that he called all of us over to meet you, but I highly doubt the others would come."

"Oh, I've already met another of Mr. Winner's friends. His name was, uh, um…Let me think." Shin went off into a melody of `um's and `uh's until Trowa responded.

"Was his name Duo?"

"Yes! Thank you. Yes, I met Duo today. He was a little shrewd, but he was nice."

"Sounds like Duo alright."

Shin and Trowa made their way to Quatre's office. Trowa opened the door for Shin, who walked through with Trowa right behind.

Noticing Quatre at his desk, Shin said, "I'm back from lunch, Mr. Winner. Oh, and you have a guest."

Quatre looked up from his papers and looked at the person being announced. "Trowa! It's so good to see you. I see you've already met my secretary, Ms. Reina Archer."

"Yes, and we had a pleasant little chat."

Shin smiled at the green-eyed man. As Shin left the two friends to talk a little before they went for lunch, she had an odd sense of familiarity from Trowa. Similar to the sense she got from Duo, only there was a slight difference between the two. The familiar feeling she got from Trowa was a close, friendly feeling. The one she got from Duo was quite more intimate, almost as if they had been lovers in another life or some strange thing like that.

----------------------------------------------

Shin sat at her desk in her apartment, waiting for Kirin to call her over the computer. While she waited, she thought to herself.

"That feeling that I got from Trowa. What was it? I feel like I have some sort of connection to him. And Duo…the feeling I got from him was just amazing. Sure, he's a little shrewd, but he's cute…I think I actually liked it when he made that comment about me."

Shin took a cross out of her jewelry box and looked at it, remembering a moment on the L2 colony.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

A six-year old Shin Kinyoubi wondered the streets of the L2 colony with a few select friends. For a poor child on the streets, there weren't many friends to choose from. Most of the people didn't want to have anything to do with kids on the streets and some of the other street kids didn't want to be friends with others. Having friends was a rarity for the homeless children on L2. Shin and her friends came upon a market and with no money all they could do was look at the food and items that were for sell. Shin turned a corner where she hit something and fell to the ground.

"Oof!" was the sound that came out of the small girl followed by a painful "Owwww!"

"Oh, I'm so sorry about that." Came a boy's voice.

"No, it was my fault. I wasn't watching where I was going." Shin said. She looked up to see two big, vibrant blue eyes. She was only six but had a strong feeling towards this boy.

"Oh…here, I want to give you this." The boy took his cross from around his neck and placed it around hers.

"Thank you."

Before he moved away from her, he gave Shin a small kiss on the cheek.

Shin felt her face get very hot. She was only six years old and already she was feeling this way.

The boy started leaving. "Well, gotta go. See ya!" He started running around the corner.

"Wait! What's your name?" Shin shouted at him.

The boy shouted back but all Shin made out was a sound.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Shin still sat at her desk, remembering that day. Hey, wait! Now that she thought about it. All those years ago, when she asked that boy his name and all she heard was a sound. Shin realized that she actually did hear his name and his name was Duo. Of course! The description was perfectly the same as the little boy. She remembered those big, vibrant blue eyes, his long brown hair put into a braid. It was all too perfect.

"Oh, my God! I can't believe I didn't see it before. He was a little nicer back then, but that was when he was just a little boy. He's a grown up now and since he was a gundam pilot, I guess that changes people. It changed me, didn't it? For the most part, I think. Okay, so it didn't change me that much…I wonder if Duo's actually the same gentleperson that he was thirteen years ago. There's only one way to find out….But I can't reveal to him who I really am. If my identity is found out now, I'm doomed. Everyone will kill me if I fail. Oh, but I have to tell him something."

"What are you mumbling about now?"

"Ahh! Jesus, Kirin! Don't do that to me!"
"Do what? I was calling you like I said I would. You were mumbling again."

"Oh, sorry. I was just thinking out loud to myself."

"Yeah, yeah. Did you get it?"

"Yep, sure did." Shin said as she held up a disk, then putting it in her computer and downloading it. "I got all of it this time."
"Good. Oh, and thank you for the data earlier. It was perfect. I didn't have to do a bit of cleaning up on it."

"Really? That's great. I was afraid I'd gotten too much again. I know how you hate to clean up after me."

"Yes, I do and I didn't have to this time. I just hope I don't have to do it this time."
"I hope so too, `cause it took me all the rest of the day to get it all. Oh, and guess what?"

"What?"
"I met Duo Maxwell and Trowa Barton today."
"No way! You know how long we've trying to find them to get info on them?"
"Yeah, I know, you don't have to remind me. I've been doing the research."

"So you finally found them, huh?"

"Well, I met them, but I don't know where they live or anything. Not yet, anyway. I think Duo has a thing for me and I'm going to exploit that."

"Oh, and how do you know that?"
"He said that I was cute and have a nice ass."
"Really?"
"Yeah, you gotta problem with that?"
"No. I was just saying-"
"Yeah, right. Anyway, I'm tired, I'm gonna go to bed. Kinyoubi out."

"'Night. Shido out."

Shin turned off her computer and headed for her room. On her way, Shin turned out the lights in her apartment and without thinking about it, placed the cross around her neck.

----------------------------------------------

Kirin Shido uploaded the data that Shin had given her. The silver hair girl looked through the second set of information on Quatre Winner and found that it was again perfect. Shin had done her job really well this time. There was absolutely everything they needed to give to the organization. Kirin was impressed. She would give her thanks to the other girl tomorrow when she contacted her again. Now it was time to sleep.

"Have to get up early in the morning if I want to track down Heero Yuy. But first a message to Yume."

----------------------------------------------

Yume Okinawa sat at her computer, about ready to shoot it. She had lost another game of solitaire. An envelope suddenly flashed and beeped in the right hand bottom corner of the screen. Yume clicked on the blinking icon, which opened up her e-mail. She had a new e-mail and it was from Kirin. Yume read over the mail and thought to herself.

"Shin did something right, again? Wow! She's on a streak or something. Better send her a message tomorrow telling her how happy I am that we're not going to be getting killed." There was a little bit of sarcasm in the girl's voice, but she was happy that Shin had finally done her job right.
