Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Heero and Relena ❯ Prologue ( Chapter 1 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]

Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Wing, or anything associated with it, (except some of those difficult to obtain uncensored DVDs! ;) ) Don't bother suing me, I wouldn't have enough money to pay for the gas to get to your attorney's office!!! I do, however, own this story, so there!

A/N: This is my very first fanfiction ever. I'm learning the process slowly, so I ask for tons of patience!!! All criticism is greatly appreciated, especially if I should bother continuing this story or give up writing altogether!!! Just please don't flame me too hard!!! *Runs in a corner and hides!* =)

(Per my friends' guidance, I have reloaded this chapter to fix some errors I made the first time around. I hope this is easier to follow than it was before, especially for those who have no previous Gundam knowledge.)

Rating: For my reviewer, Tomorrow, and any others who may not wish to be subjected unnecessarily to lemons. I add this to the beginning of the rest of my chapters for you. I have no clue when the lemon chapter will come, but it's not anytime soon. For now, I rate this chapter "PG". =)

Heero & Relena

Prologue

(A/N: I had forgotten to mention the Prologue time is the year AC 196 [After Colony 196] in the month of April. For those not familiar with Gundam Wing AC, the final battle of the 20+ years long war between the Earth and the Space Colonies was fought on Christmas Day, AC 195.)

He sat in a café, watching people walk by on the street. Looking up, he studied the fake sunlight glinting off the inside walls of the L2 Colony. A large screen TV, just inside the glass doors of the café, loudly displayed the current political news surrounding the debate over whether Earth's countries could or could not redefine their borders without starting a new civil war. Then, all of a sudden, she flashed on the screen. It was only a short three-sentence cut of her speech. For all of the 15 seconds it took for the scene to show, his heartbeat tripled that time. Then, Relena Peacecraft-Darlian was gone, and he was left back alone, contemplating the half-drunk coffee that had turned cold minutes before.

Heero Yuy got up, dropping his tip by the half-full drink, and left quickly. He briskly walked down the street, arriving at the flat he had been residing in for the past four months… four months. Hard to believe it had been four months since the end of the war.

After the war had ended, the Earth Sphere had formed a unified militia force known as the Preventers, to protect the bloodstained, fragile peace achieved between the Earth and its Space Colonies. Lady Une had, of course, asked all five Gundam pilots if they would like to join the Preventers. He knew Lieutenant Lucrezia Noin and Military Doctor Sally Po had already joined. However, all five pilots had turned down the offer. It was appropriate: Wufei Chang just disappeared, Trowa Barton went back to his sister Catherine and the Circus, Quatre Raberba-Winner went back to claim his family business, and Duo Maxwell went to claim his "business" with Hilde (Duo's so-called friend turning into girlfriend). Heero, who had no clue what to do, had only one thing on his mind when he made his decision: to not be anyone's toy anymore. He had wanted to die for so long, that having to follow more orders would only prevent the now-cleared path of thinking his mind required for him to determine what to do with his life.

He wasn't sure how "The Perfect Soldier" would be able to live a normal life. Actually, he was positive that was an impossibility for him. Nonetheless, he still felt a responsibility to himself to at least attempt to learn more about life, outside of the harsh reality of his sole military existence. Besides, he no longer had the will to die… the one hope, that had forcefully taken hold within his heart, would no longer allow him that escape. He realized that fact four months ago, as Wing Zero was being crushed and falling to fiery pieces during those final precious seconds before he barely managed to correctly target the catastrophically large falling piece of the spaceship Libra. That damned hope for something he didn't deserve, nor had any right to possess. And yet, that damned hope was what had finally given him the will to survive. That hope that was named Relena…

As he was waiting to cross a corner, he spotted a children's toy store across the street. In the window was a teddy bear…
