/* blah blah */ Duo's thoughts
Summary: Heero's bored. Duo's the only one at the safe house with him. What to do?
********************************************************************** **
"I'm bored," Heero announced, closing his laptop and looking over at his roommate. It was around seven in the evening and the two of them were currently the only ones at the safe house. Heero was sitting at the table while Duo was stretched out on the couch, reading.
"Are you feeling ok?" Duo queried in surprise, not looking up from his book. "Don't you have a mission report to do, or research for a new mission?"
"The mission report has been sent," Heero replied, resting his hands atop the closed laptop. "There are currently no new missions, therefore nothing to research. I don't feel like playing games on the computer or surfing the net. Repairs and maintenance on Wing have been finished. I have no new reading material, of any sort. To put it mildly, I'm bored."
"So what do you want to do?" asked Duo, marking his page before closing his book and turning to face his fellow pilot. "And aren't you talking a bit more than usual?"
"When I have something to say I say it with however many words are necessary to make my point," Heero stated, turning his head to look directly at Duo. "As for what I want to do, I have no idea." /~ Yes I do but I don't think you'd agree. ~/
Changing his position so he was now leaning on the arm of the couch nearest to Heero, Duo asked, "So why tell me? We're out in the middle of nowhere with no transportation other than our gundams. What do you think I can do about your boredom?"
/~ A lot, if you'd allow it. ~/ Heero thought before saying "You're the creative one. You always seem to have something to do. Can't you come up with something?"
/* Yeah, buddy, I can but I don't think you'd want to do that with me, even to alleviate your boredom. */ Duo thought, and then asked, "What would you really like to do? Something must have crossed your mind when I asked you the first time. Why don't you tell me what it was? I promise I won't laugh, or make fun of you, no matter what it is."
"You promise?" Heero asked, scooting the chair he was in back a few inches and resting his head on his hands, still facing Duo.
"Promise" Duo said, adjusting his position on the couch so he was better able to hide the slight bulge in his pants brought on by thoughts of doing things with a willing Heero.
"Alright" Heero replied. "The first thing that came into my head in response to your question was making love with the person who stole my heart."
"I can see where that would be a problem out here" Duo responded. "Why don't you tell me about the person who could steal the heart of the soldier thought to have no emotions, let alone a heart? I'd like to know what kind of person could do that." /* Wish it was me. */
"Why?"
/* So I know what kind of person you'd be interested in, and why it's not me. */ Duo was silent for a couple of minutes, lost in his thoughts, before answering with "Curiosity. Something to do, relieve your boredom." /~ Let me get to know something new about you. ~/
"Only if you tell me about the one you dream about in return" Heero responded. /~ I'd like to know what kind of person turns you on. ~/
/* Maybe if I give him enough clues he'll see I'm attracted to him without me coming right out and saying it. Maybe I can even clue him in to how much I love him without getting myself killed if I do this. */ Duo thought.
"I'm waiting," Heero said, interrupting Duo's chaotic thinking.
"Huh? Oh, sorry," Duo said, startled out of his train of thought. "Oh yeah, right. Sure. I'll tell you about the person I dream about after you tell me about the person who stole your heart."
"Alright," Heero agreed. "I hope you're comfortable. This could take a while." At Duo's nod Heero got a dreamy look on his face, complete with a slight smile, and started his description. "The person who stole my heart has no idea how I feel about them. They think we're only friends, good friends, but only that. This person is intelligent, witty, intriguing, mysterious. Their personality has been described as completely opposite of mine, but I believe that is only the mask this person wears. I've seen this person go from carefree cheerfulness to deadly serious in a heartbeat. I've caught glimpses of tears never shed and heartache and loneliness never shared, before this person's mask drops into place when anyone looks their way. This person cares deeply but appears to be afraid to show it, their mask making others think they don't care. I wonder what happened in their past to make them this way." Heero's voice trailed off but his thoughts continued. /~ Will you ever share your secrets with me Duo? Will you ever share what made you run and hide from your emotions? ~/
"Okay" Duo drawled as his mind processed what Heero had said. /*Was he describing me? */ He reached back and pulled his braid over his shoulder before asking, "What about this person's looks? You haven't mentioned that aspect yet."
"After you tell me something about your dream person," Heero responded, erasing the dreamy look from his face and replacing it with his normal emotionless visage, only his eyes showing his curiosity.
Absentmindedly playing with the end of his braid, Duo stared at the wall above Heero's head and started his description. "The person who haunts my dreams has no idea about my true feelings for them. Like yours, they think we're only good friends, if they even think about our relationship in those terms. This person is very driven, striving always to do, or be, better than everyone else. They are intelligent, strong, logical. There is another, entirely different, person behind the mask they wear - I've gotten glimpses when they weren't paying attention to those around them. The mask this person shows to the world does not let their emotions show. It's like all emotions have been driven out. The personality they show the world is not their true personality, only the bitterest part of it. Their mask also leads people to believe they don't care about others but, somehow, I know they care deeply, especially for those thy care about whether those people are friends, compatriots, or maybe something more."
As Duo had started talking Heero had closed his eyes, the better to concentrate on what Duo was saying. When it became apparent that Duo had finished what he planned to say, Heero opened his eyes and, looking at Duo once more, said, "You didn't provide a physical description either."
Duo grinned as he let his gaze shift to Heero's face and stopped playing with his braid, "A little like the pot and the kettle, don't' you think? I figured it was only fair to do as you did. Keeps the conversation going a little longer. Besides, you looked like you were falling asleep over there." /* I wonder if he even listened to what I said. */
Heero got up and moved to the other end of the couch. He sat down with his back in the corner, allowing his head to rest against the back and see all of Duo at the same time. He brought both legs up onto the couch, bent at the knees, and rested his arms on them before saying, "I heard every word you said, in case you're wondering. I closed my eyes so I could better picture this person you were talking about."
As Heero was getting situated on the couch, Duo had turned around and placed himself in a mirror image of Heero's position. /* So he was listening! This just might work. */ Duo thought before saying, "Your turn. Physical description this time."
"Hmm," Heero mused as he looked straight at Duo but let his eyes unfocus. "Physically this person is a perfect match for me, strong where I am weak, weak where I am strong. They hide wiry muscle beneath loose fitting clothes so others can't see, but I have on occasion. Hair that sparkles in the sunshine, silken locks that I long to run my fingers through. A cherubic face highlighted by exquisitely large sparkling eyes, eyes that you could get lost in forever and not care one bit. Laughter and sometimes mischief light those magical eyes almost constantly. When asleep this person looks like an angel until they start moving; they are restless in their sleep, tossing, turning, wrapping themselves up in tangled sheets."
"That's not exactly what I meant by physical description Heero" Duo laughed when Heero stopped speaking. "I was asking for height, weight, eye color, hair color. Things like that. You know, things like … eyes the color of a stormy summer sky, hair a yummy chocolate mess, begging for my fingers to run through."
"And?" Heero prompted when Duo started spacing out.
"Huh? Oh, well … umm … thinly built but covered with muscle, gorgeous ass just begging to be squeezed, legs that don't quit, hands that are rock steady but gentle and kind. Strong enough to help me move when I'm injured, just the right height for support or to rest my head on their shoulder. You know, that sort of stuff. Not your poetic description."
"Alright, after your poetic description I'll give you a practical description since you already provided yours, correct?"
"Yeah … I guess I did at that," Duo said, slightly embarrassed at the realization. "Okay, poetic description … hmm. I already mentioned the eyes and hair so … angelic face when sleeping but shows no sign of what they're thinking when awake except for their eyes, which speak volumes if you get the chance to learn to read them. A body built for strength that shows but can be extremely kind and gentle. Strong arms to wrap around me, keeping me safe from all harm. My safe haven in any storm."
Heero just continued watching him as Duo once more turned into a space cadet. /~ Strong yet gentle, shows no emotion except in the eyes. I can't see any female fitting that description but he could be describing somebody besides me, but I can still hope. ~/
After a couple of minutes of silence, on Duo's part, and staring, on Heero's part, Duo shook his head, bringing himself back to the here-and-now. "Your turn for a … practical physical description."
"Hmm," Heero mused before starting with, "This person is basically the same height I am. Their weight is deceptive. They look like the weigh more than they actually do - I know because I've carried them before. Brown hair that when kissed by any light sparkles with red and gold. Eyes the color of the sky just before it turns to night. Anything else you'd like to know about this person?"
"Umm … " Duo hesitated. /* Guess it can't hurt to ask, right? Right! */ "How about gender and/or name?"
"How about you two just go ahead and kiss already?" came an amused voice from across the room.
Duo and Heero, moving as if controlled by a single mind, turned to look over the back of the couch at the door to the kitchen. The speaker, Quatre, stood with the other two pilots in the doorway. All three with grins on their faces.
"Wha … wha … what did you say?" choked Duo.
"He said," Wufei smirked, "you two should just go ahead and kiss."
"It was quite clear," Trowa added from his position between the other two in the doorway.
Heero looked at the three then at Duo then back to the three once more, specifically Trowa who gave a slight nod. Heero's smirk appeared as he turned and prepared to pounce.
As Heero moved, Duo turned to look at him and started to say "Heero, what are you doing?" but before he got past "what" Heero said, "Mission accepted" and pounced on Duo, knocking both of them off the couch to the floor with Heero on top where he quickly took advantage of Duo's open mouth. When he finally broke the kiss he said "Gender: male. Name: Duo Maxwell. You?"
Duo smiled, answered, "Gender: male. Name: Heero Yuy." and initiated their second kiss to the sound of applause from the direction of the kitchen and someone's comment of "Guess our work here is done."
