Duo awoke nestled beside Heero, who, was still sleeping off a few late night worries. Duo was surprised his poor friend didn't suffer from mood swings with all the stress he had been put under lately. Duo slowly got up to go for a walk around the caverns before the rest of this demon colony awoke. He had learned much about this place. Such as the fact that there were more colonies here than he had expected. Heero's kind were once known as the normal or sky demons, until forced to hide underground. Then, you had the tiny water demons who lived in the underground lakes and streams. You also had the Earthen demons that dug their homes in these many tunnels to live and were hardly seen. So, as he woke and headed out into the morning's light for a breath or two of the outside he was shocked to find troops heading their way, hundreds upon hundreds of mobile suites and one of the gundams newest allies, Milliardo Peacecraft leading them towards the caveren's opening. "Shit." Duo muttered, running back to warn everyone.

As he stumbled into the cave, he was not shocked to find Wufei heading towards Heero's current nest as it had become a daily routine to make sure that the children he'd help to create were indeed safe and growing. "We're being.... Attacked?" Duo muttered as he noted that many besides Wufei were standing there, watching the birthing.

"What?" Wufei cried out, now turning his head to look at Duo to make sure he heard correctly. "They've come to attack us." Duo stated.

"Wufei... Give- Du-o the swo-rd." Heero grunted between convulsions of contractions that hit his body.

"Right." Wufei nodded, finding the sword right where Heero had indicated.

"Tell- him- to- take- the demons- not- here into battle." Heero commanded.

"Yes, Heero." Wufei replied.

Duo watched in awe as Wufei approached and repeated what Heero had just stated to him. "Right, I promise to protect you guys... You, Wufei, have always been a brother to me and Heero- well, Heero's more than anything else in this world has ever seemed to be to me even... Tell Quatre and Trowa that I'll try to return safely, not to worry because I will not kill anymore people, merely harm them so they cannot fight." Duo gave a wink and his famous grin before heading off to prepare for battle.
Duo stood, without armor without a mobile suit to fight with, but, with one sword at his side as the troops along with himself went out into the battlefeild. The human's army charged first, Duo released the demons to counter it, as the mobile suits pressed closer. "Their power source is on the back of the machines, aim all weapons there and fire at that spot." Duo commanded, as he lashed yet another man's leg, breaking tibia and fibia rendering him useless.

He fought harder than he ever had in any of the fights before, he was panting, blood spattered his clothing from the small yet sufficiant cuts he'd made in his opponents. One little devil came up behind him and managed to cut right above his brow, but, no deeper than just the skin, Duo swung around and took out both legs. He soon noted Milliardo's struggling against the armies force. "Don't push yourself, Wind." Duo called out over the noise of battle.

Now, all the mobile suits were down, yet the battle pressed on. Duo noted the humans killing demons left and right. Ones whom he'd come to call family in the few months he'd spent there. The humans too, fell to their premature deaths. He felt the yell building within him until it tore from his throat in rage and sorrow. "NO MORE!!!! NO MORE KILLING, NO MORE BLOOD, NO MORE DEATH!" He bellowed.

It echoed out across the bloodied lands and made all, including the humans freeze in fear and utter disbelief. Silence was ruler of all, save Duo who stood there, weeping over all the fallen. "If I am to be what determines this war, then let the decision be known now. I wish for peace, I wish for neither side to win or lose, I wish for it all just to stop, here, now, today..." He stated.

Milliardo approached him from behind. "Duo, what are you going to do?" He asked, gently, pleadingly.

"What I know I must do, who is to win has to have me, am I correct? So, I say, neither shall." Duo answered.

With that the sword's blade was struck into his chest, by Duo's own hands he died. As he died, as he had his final breath, he smiled.
Heero panted, screaming in agony as he gave one final child a life into the world. This one had not a trace of black upon it's fur though, as all his brothers and sisters before. Nor, did it's eyes match either Heero's or Wufei's, the scruffy little runt opened it's teary violet orbs to the new world as it whined for the warmth of it's parent's body. Just as Heero was given the child to view and check over, a demon from the battle came back, with Duo's sword in hand and bowed low before Heero's presence. "The war is over, neither side won, nor lost and we are to make a pact of peace. Both sides lost great numbers, but none greater than Duo Maxwell, sir." The demon spoke quietly.

The blue eyed Prince felt tears prick his vision for the first time in decades as the sword with his friend's blood upon it was lain before him. "How did he dye?" Heero asked.

"By his own hand." The demon replied.

Wufei looked at Heero as Heero cuddled the child in his arms by now, cooing merrily over the soft heat it was provided. "Let it be known that this child is named in honor of our dear friend, Duo Maxwell." He told Wufei, handing the boy to the black haired human turned demon before him.

"Yes, Heero, it shall be known to all." Wufei said, looking at the squirming bundle he now held in his own arms.
