am constantly reminded of this fact by the toaster. Probably soon to be with all my other stuff at:
http://www.geocities.com/forever01n02/Sekrafics.html Kind of a given isn't it? Fallen Angel sent out this plot bunny a while ago, so I thought I'd
have a go at it ^^ Sorry, I kinda ended up mutilating it but...
I really don't like the title I gave it. But I can't think of anything else
so I s'pose it sticks. *Shrugs*
Also, this is set four or five years after EW. Just so you know. Heero seems OOC to you, I apologise. But again, after all that's happened
to him since the end of the war, we don't really know what he's like. Just go
with it, savvy?
He could hear explosions - and damn loud ones at that. Groaning,
Duo reached behind his head to pull out a pillow to stuff over his face in
hopes of blocking out the light and noise. "Gimme five more mins" he mumbled into
the white fabric. more minutes for what?" Duo threw the pillow off his face and found himself looking into
striking deep blue eyes. Dante stood over him, a game controller in his hand and a
distrustful look on his face. told me to tell you to 'wake the Hell up'." Satisfied that he had
passed his message on successfully, the young child sat back down and resumed
his game. sat up and took another good look at the boy. He imagined that was what
Heero would have looked like as a child. Well, except for the hair. But Dante
had the same haunted look in his eyes, the same determination and the same damn
glare. Duo wondered what could have happened in his short life to make him
like that. He faintly wondered if he would be as hard as Heero was to get to
open up to him. Dante." Duo looked to the ceiling, he had no idea where to start.
"Um.... whatcha playing?" told me to wake you, I wasn't asked to speak to you. Therefore I find
no reason to why I should." blinked. Then blinked again. Yep, just like a mini-four-year-old-version
of Heero. Just as he was about to say something else to the boy, Heero entered
the room. The American couldn't help but roll his eyes at the sight, Yuy was
standing in the doorway, decked out in his ever-present tanktop, black slacks
and holding his old hand gun. It was almost as if nothing had changed in five
years. to see you've updated your wardrobe Heero." try to keep up with the fashion." Heero shot back with the hint of a
smirk. "Nice to see you've stopped drooling on my pillow." small blush crept up as he realized that there was indeed, a small damp
patch on the pillow. "Heh. Uh sorry. I'm in your house one night and I've already
started destroying things!" Heero just shrugged. to Duo's surprise, the handgun that Heero held was taken out of his
hands, by no other person than Dante. Duo knew about Heero's past, that when the
Japanese pilot had been that age he knew how to work several weapons but it was
still a shock that Heero had passed that knowledge on to his son. It was sort
of depressing to see a child that old handling a gun in this supposed time of
peace. must have seen the shock on Duo's face for he waved a hand dismissively
while murmuring "It's a long story."
A long story that Duo really wanted to hear but Heero wasn't quite ready to
tell. Not until Dante started trusting his old partner. boy had been through a lot in his life and Heero wasn't quite sure if
letting Duo stay straight away was a good idea. Bringing in another strange
unknown man to Dante's life wasn't a smart thing to do, but to have that stranger
in his house. Well, it was too late to take back the offer. He was just so
overjoyed that Duo had come to see him that the thought that Duo might leave him
again was unbearable. So he had asked him to stay. But that was for his own
selfish needs and in his rush to fulfil them he had forgotten about how his son
would cope with the sudden reminder of his past. WE DON'T HAVE ANY ICE-CREAM!!!!!" Duo ran by in a flash of
black with his braid trailing behind him only to reappear a few seconds later.
"Just thought I'd let you know we have no ice-cream. And that gentlemen, is a
crisis in my books." He said in all seriousness. month had gone by without much incident. Duo had made himself right at
home, which was not surprising to Heero in the least. His old war friend had
always managed to fit in where ever he happened to be, regardless of
surroundings.Heero had always been a little jealous of that particular ability. Heero, where are the car keys?" Duo asked with big water filled eyes. No
matter what he'd done to prove himself, Heero would not just give him credit.
With his stoic love-interest still holding his fithteen year old driving
against him, the violet eyed boy was forbidden to even *touch* Heero's beloved car
without first getting permission. from you." c'mon Heero! I'm not going to run down any old ladies this time, I
swear!" Duo held up his hand in 'scout's honour' fashion. turned in his seat to look at the braided boy. Pinning him with one of
his infamous glares, he crossed his arms and said," Duo, you may live in my
house, eat my food, waste all my water, Hell you can even run away with my
television but you are not. I repeat, NOT driving my car." looked like a kicked puppy and Heero was tempted to just give in and hand
him the damn keys, but then thought of all the dead puppies Duo had killed
with his lethal driving and the temptation left right fast. Shaking his head, he
stood up to retrieve the car keys from their hiding place and turned back to
the braided American." What flavour do you want?" He sighed, knowing all too
well what he would be buying. chip, like you had to ask!" He answered with a smile. like I had to ask." Heero muttered under his breath. A small hand
tugged on his shirt and he looked down to see Dante glaring at Duo." Nani?" don't like that flavour otousan, can we get something else?" The glare was
replaced by big blue eyes looking pleadingly at him. why not?" Heero looked to the ceiling for help, he received none. Those
two had so much power over him with, he hated to think what they would want
if they ever figured it out. Sighing again, he grabbed Dante's shoulder and
steered him to the door. "Be right back Duo." He called over his shoulder before
closing the door behind him. in his beloved car, Heero looked over to his son. Dante was staring
out of the window, a shadowed _expression on his face. Sighing, Heero bypassed
the shops and stopped at a nearby park. Dante, what's wrong?" answer - as expected. Sometimes this child was just *too* much like
himself, Heero thought. Sliding out from his seat, he locked the door behind him and
then walked around to let Dante out of his. Cobalt eyes looked at him
suspiciously before undoing his seatbelt and following the Japanese man down a path
surrounded by cherry blossoms on each side. park was one of the few still left in Tokyo. Room for development had
become scarce years ago and most of the natural trees and plants had been
demolished in order for new buildings. Sakura Park was popular and never went
without at least one person wandering around its many paths - even in the depths of
the night. Crime was not bad in this area so it wasn't a problem - especially
when you're an ex-Gundam pilot. himself on a nearby bench, he looked around at the scenery before
turning his attention back to his son. fidgeted and looked around nervously; he didn't like being in such an
exposed place. Even with his strong father around, he was still uneasy about
the strangers passing by... Who knew if one of these men were looking for him?
Just waiting for Heero to leave him alone for just a second......
Scared, the four year old scooted closer to the presence beside him. don't like this otousan.." He muttered. sighed, suddenly reminded of himself. "I know Dante. But... As long as
you keep you're eyes open and don't go wondering off alone, I'm sure you'll be
fine." he thought. He sounded so paranoid; telling his son this. But he did
have his reasons - which Dante knew all too well. What do you think of Duo?" He knew he was trying to change the
subject, but he didn't want Dante to worry about it. Besides, he knew Duo was part
of the young boys uneasiness. shrugged a small shoulder and kept watch on a suspicious looking man on
his right. "He's weird." chuckled a little. "Yes I know. But that's not what I meant." know." Heero prompted. Dante just stared straight ahead without answering.
Sighing, Heero prepared probably one of the longest speeches of his life. "
Look Dante, I know this is hard on you. But you have to open up to Duo, he's
really not a bad person and he's not going to hurt you like the other men..." did you meet? Dante interrupted. " I may trust you, but I still question
your judgement." passing women sent a weird look over at the young boy, plainly saying 'what
kind of four year old speaks like that?'. Heero ignored it, even if he did
agree with her. It saddened him that his son was turning out to be just like
him. And he, Heero, had a lot to do with it. When Dante had come onto his
custody, he had been very much the same as he was during the war. Cold and distant.
Add the fact that he hardly had any childhood of his own to speak of and it was
no wonder he really didn't know what to do with an infant. So Dante had,
naturally modelled off of him. Over the years Heero had been getting better and
had even attempted several times to make Dante into a normal child. He'd taken
him to amusement parks, movies, but nothing worked. Dante just wouldn't act
like a four year old no matter what he'd tried.
Sometimes the ex-Wing pilot regretted that Dante had ever come to live with
him. Not for selfish reasons, but because if the boy had been living in a
normal family, then maybe it would have saved Dante his innocence. But instead, his
son knows how to handle hand guns and talks like an adult.
It wasn't right, Heero told himself. It just wasn't right. how did you meet?" Dante repeated himself. shot me." Heero said with fondness. He'd never told Dante his past, but
now he realised that it might be better if he did. "It wasn't the best first
impression but... it got better." shot you? What kind of friend does that? And you want me to trust him?"
The kid looked suspiciously at his father, who just grinned at the memory. were in a war, I had a gun to a girls head. I don't blame him for pulling
the trigger. In fact, I thank him for it." Heero turned in his seat to look
at Dante. "AC 195 war. We were fighting for the colonies..." learnt about these wars. But the colonies joined with Oz didn't they?" but we didn't stop fighting. I.. We... We fought in the Gundams."
Heero looked to his son for his reaction. Dante was staring at him in disbelief,
the Gundams were legends of the war. Everybody knew about them - and the
stories and rumours were not all sun and roses. Tales of bloody battles floated

fathers eyes. nodded as understanding crossed over his face, then continued. " Duo

He said in worriedly, Heero didn't know how he was going to react to the
information, but he was hoping it wasn't badly. he wasn't ready for was for Dante's face to light up with a rare smile,
" That is so cool!" he beamed. blinked. Was Dante.... excited?
He was... Heero watched in wonder as the normally stoic child tugged on his
shirt sleeve, begging to be told more.
It was the first time Heero had seen anything childlike in Dante. To know he
was indirectly the cause, an unfamiliar feeling coursed through his body at
the thought that he'd actually brought his child happiness instead of more pain. smiled back at Dante and started to tell of his adventures in his
Gundam. (leaving out the gory details of course)
