Chapter 9

Relena walked as fast has she could down the hall towards the waiting room. Claire, who was resting safely in her mother's arms didn't even notice how upset Relena was and continued in her peaceful slumber. As soon as she entered the full waiting room Hilde stood up and walked over to her.

"How did he take it Relena?" she innocently asked. Relena who was now on the verge of tears had to get the lump out of her through before answering Hilde.

"Not so well…(her voice cracked). Can you take Claire for a while? I need to be a lone for a while," she said in such a low tone that everyone had to strain to hear what she was saying.

"No problem," Hilde said with concern in her voice as she took Claire from Relena.

Everyone's eyes were on Relena as she made a swift exit of the waiting room.

"Doesn't sound like he took it too well," said Duo.

Wordlessly Heero stood up and handed Mitchell over to Trowa before silently exiting the room after Relena.

As soon as Relena left the silent room she broke down and cried like a heart broken little girl. As she cried she walked down the hall, going faster and faster with each step. By the time she past the solider that guarded the hallway she was running as if trying to break free from her troubled life. She ran through hallway after hallway her hot tears leaving a trail on the clean blue tiles. She finally found the exit and burst out into the cool night air. She found herself in the hospital parking lot. She debated her options of escape. She had gotten here in a rented Chrysler Sebring, but Heero had the keys to it in his pocket so that was not one off her options. Then she saw what she was looking for; Duo's Blue and Black Yamaha Motorcycle with the words 'God of Death' painted on the sides. She would have laughed had she not been so upset, it was so classical of Duo!

She ran over to the motorcycle and turned the keys, which had been so stupidly left in the ignition when Duo left it in such a hurry. The engine roared to life as Relena revved the powerful engine and took off not bothering to put on a helmet.

In no time at all Relena was racing down a familiar road running along the beach. The beach held many cherished memories to Relena. It was the place she used to go to before her life became so twisted and confusing. Before, when she had enough time to just sit and admire the pure beauty for the Earth of what it was worth. It was also the place where she first met the boy, now man, who would forever change her life, Heero. But at that moment her mind wouldn't allow her to admire the beauty of the ocean or remember her dear memories. At the moment the harsh word of her brother were coursing through her brain. 'Explain to me the reason you had for suddenly leaving your duty as Vice Foreign Minister? Explain to me what was so important the you had to go and risk the peace of our father's kingdom and even the Earth and Colonies, of which you have worked so hard to obtain!?…HEERO! You let that no-good, suicidal, jerk sleep with you? Worse you let him get you pregnant? I thought you had more sense then that Relena!' But the last part is what really got to her. 'I guess God did you a favor in killing him before you made anymore mistakes with him like marrying him!' The last part brought a new stream of tears to her eyes. As the tears fell down her cheeks they were caught but the sheer speed of the wind rushing by her.

After about twenty minutes of driving a speed of over 100mph on the motorcycle she finally reached the end of the road. It was an old Naval base that was used during the major wars of 195 but was burnt to the ground in the end leaving nothing but the rubble of a few building and an old wooden pier that managed to escape the taint of the fire a time. She walked down to the end of the pier and looked over the now black ocean under the night sky. She threw her head back so she was facing the heavens and raised her arms on either side of her as if she was just going to rise into the air and fly straight into the dark sky above.

"God…I'm so sorry… for the pain I've caused…please…oh please…forgive me!" she said between gasps that came after her heavy crying.

"Relena...?" Came a voice behind her causing her to spin around to face the intruder. Heero stood at the other end of the pier barely visible during the night in his dark blue jeans and black T-shirt. He walked up to her and encircled her in his strong arms. She rest her head on his chest and let him comfort her and rock her as if she was a child.

"What causes me to be such a bad person Heero? Why do I hurt the people I love so much? Everything that has happened it's all been my fault!" Relena pleaded. Heero put a finger to her lips to silence her.

"It not your fault Relena. You did not thing wrong!" Heero said in a soothing voice. Relena looked up at him, the red and puffiness in her eyes was just starting to go away.

"Then why was Milliardo so mad at me? He said that he couldn't believe that I slept with you and that I let you get me pregnant. And he said God did me a favor by killing you! I love you so much and I thank God everyday that you are alive. Heero, when I heard you were dead something in me died with you!"

"I very happy that I'm alive and with you as well. And I'm sure that what Zechs said was just a reaction to the shock you put him through. He'll get over it. Everyone has gone home now that they know Zechs will live. I gave Mitchell and Claire to Quatre so why don't you go to his house and try and get some sleep. You've had a long day. I'm going to go back to the hospital and have a little 'chat' with Zechs, I'll see you when I'm done," Heero said then handed her the keys to their rental car, "Here you take the car and I'll take Duo's bike." Relena just nodded.

They walk together back up the pier.

About half an hour later Heero was walking down the same hospital halls and past the same guard (Who looked a little nervous as Heero passes) but instead of going into the waiting room he kept on going until he reached Zechs' room. Without knocking he slammed open the door waking up Zechs in the process. Then slammed the door again behind him as he strode across the small room. At first Zechs seemed a little dazed as he woke up from a drugged sleep. Then when he saw who it was that had entered his room and woken him up he seemed a little more awake.

"W-w-who are you?" he stuttered. Heero smirked at him, "What you don't remember me?"

"Who are you!?" Zechs said again but a little more sternly.

"The name is Heero Yuy. I thought of all people you would remember my name!"

"Your not Heero Yuy that suicidal bastard died almost a year ago!"

"Afraid not. There was a little mix-up at the hospital."

"You @$$hole! You should have died! You got my sister pregnant and left her! She would have been better off without you!"

"Look I know what I did in the past was wrong and I never should have left Relena."

"You obviously don't understand me so let me put it in simpler terms: if by the time I'm well and in good health you are not out of her life, I will personally make sure you are out of her life as well as the lives of my niece and nephew."

"Is that a threat?" Heero asked in a now low murderous tone.

"Take it for what ever you want it to be, just know that I want you gone! And if you are not gone then by the time I'm able I will kill you!"

"You obviously forgot who I am. I was trained to be the perfect solider. An assassin at age four, a Gundam pilot at age 15, a Preventor at age 16 and now a Colonel at age 19. I know how to use 200 different types of Guns and artillery, 23 different types of self-defense, and can fly and type of mobile suit you can find. If you want to try to kill me then feel free. But above all that I'm the father of beautiful two children and the fiancé of one wonderful woman and I'm not giving that up for anyone especially some self centered prick like you who can't see the world for what it is! I may not be perfect but I'm doing to absolute best I can and I truly from the bottom of my heart love Relena and our children and even if you did kill me you could never take that away from me!"

Zechs just sat there and stared at Heero in amazement. Heero rarely admitted to his feelings to anyone especially him. Zechs took a deep breath and appeared to be thinking really hard over something very important. Then with a heavy sigh he asked, "Do you really love her?"

"Yes, more then you or even her will ever know. I was never shown love by anyone in my life before her. She amazes me every dad in so many ways and I love her for her kindness, her determination, her strength, her wit, her radiating beauty, and so many other things!"

"I'm truly surprised. I never thought that I would hear something come so wholly from the heart from you. I understand know and I want to apologize for not understanding earlier. You have my consent."

Heero's moment of literary grace was over and he just nodded to Zechs as if just acknowledging his presence and made his exit. Zechs just sighed again and drifted back into aided sleep.
