A/N: No major romantics are being involved and this is still a non-yaoi fic. The pairings are mostly implied (1xR, past 2xH, and a growing 2x11.) and this is told from Heero's POV.

One night I came into a bar to try and calm my nerves after I got into a fight with my wife Relena. When I walked in, I saw my best friend Duo Maxwell drinking a bunch of doubles that the bartender was serving . I came into the seat next to him and I greeted, "Hey, Duo, how've you been?". With a glum look on his face I could tell that he wasn't happy and he replied "My life hasn't been so well, I've been through pain for the past few months."
"Well do you wanna talk about it?"
"No thank you, what I really wanna do is go to bed. I'm starting to hate this bar anyway, but you know what, tonight I'm hating everything."
//He was sittin’ there beside me throwin’ doubles down
When he ordered up his third one, he looked around
Then he looked at me, and said, “I do believe
I’ll have one more.”
He said, “I hate this bar, and I hate to drink
But on second thought tonight I think I hate everything.”//
Shortly after the bartender gave Duo the billfold, he threw twenty bucks on the bar. Shortly after he got up I saw a picture of his ex-wife Hilde falling to the ground. I picked it up and gave it back to him and he said, "Thanks, Heero."
"You're welcome. I suppose you're feeling down because of her right?"
"That's right because she left me for someone else."
//Then he opened up his billfold and threw a twenty down
And a faded photograph fell out and hit the ground
And I picked it up, he said, “Thank you, bud.”
I put it in his hand
He said, “I probably ought to throw this one away
‘Cause she’s the reason I feel this way
Why I hate everything.”//
"Well I'm sorry for what happened to you buddy. Are the two kids with you?"
"Yeah they're in their bedroom sleeping. But you know what because of them, they're the reason why I'm not hating my ex-wife." Duo took a seat nearest to where I was sitting at.
//Why I hate my job, and I hate my life
And if it weren’t for my two kids, I’d hate my ex-wife
I know I should move on and try to start again
But I just can’t get over her leaving me for him
Then he shook his head and looked down at his ring
And said, “I have everything.”//
"You probaly don't enjoy the place you're living in do you?" I took a sip of my beer.
"To be honest with you, it ain't like a home, it's more like a jailhouse."
"Well you can live with me and Relena if you like. We won't mind if you do."
"That's okay, Lady Une is buying me a house of my own and I'm dating her right now so it's okay."
//He said, “That one bedroom apartment where I get my mail
Is really not a home, it’s more like a jail
With a swimming pool and a parking lot view
Man, it’s just great.
I hate summer, winter, fall and spring
Red and yellow, purple, blue and green
I hate everything.”
Why I hate my job, and I hate my life
And if it weren’t for my two kids, I’d hate my ex-wife
I know I should move on and try to start again
But I just can’t get over her leaving me for him
Then he shook his head and looked down at his ring
And said, “I have everything.”//
As I got up out of the table, I picked up my cellphone and called my wife and I said "Honey, I'm coming home, how about you and me talk about our problem."
I paid for our beers and said, "Duo, thanks for the conversation. I'll see you later."
I walked out to my truck and went home.
//So I pulled out my phone, and I called my house
I said, “Babe, I’m coming home, we’re gonna
Work this out.”
I paid for his drinks, and I told him “Thanks.”
