------------------------------------

This is my version of how that nameless soldier, also known as Trowa Barton, lost and regained his memories. Of course, it started with that deathly explosion of the Veigh-eight, with its pilot, Trowa, inside.

Quatre sat in Wing-Zero's cock-pit horrified. The explosion of the blue mobile suit Veigh-eight lit up the dark and empty vacuum of space. Slowly, the glow disappeared, and everything was still, and quiet.

"Trowa!" he called desperately heading in the explosion's direction. However he was cut off by Heero. "Heero! Let me go and save Trowa!"

"Save Trowa? You just now wanted to kill him and you did! Now you want to save him? It's too late!"

"No! I didn't mean to!" the blonde pilot cried.

"You killed him. Are you satisfied now?" Heero asked. "Are you satisfied?!" he shouted at him. "Now you can see that you've been foolish all this time. Trowa sacrificed himself in order for you to recognize your mistakes. Now you'll have to live out your life with that guilt in your heart."

As Heero spoke these words to him Quatre silently cried. He knew it was the truth. He could never forgive himself for murduring his best friend. However, wasn't it also Wing-Zero that influenced him on doing this, killing innocent people? But it was he that was foolish enough to pilot that suit.

At the wreckage of the explosion Trowa managed to stay in one peace. However, he was motionless as pieces of the mobile suit floated around him. Then, a shadow approached him, hovering near just watching him. It seemed to hold and weep over him for a long time. It then carried him until it brought him to the L-3 colony. A carrier for scientific engineers was nearby, and the shadow gently pushed Trowa in the direction of the carrier. As silently as it came, it disappeared.

Trowa awoke to find himself in a hospital bed. A doctor was near-by looking over him. Trowa stared at him blankly.

"It's good that you're awake," he said. "What happened out there?"

"Out where?" Trowa asked unsteadily.

"Some one just found you laying in space. You're a soldier aren't you? It's amazing that you servived. So, what happened?"

"I don't know."

The doctor looked at him curiously."What's your name?"

"I...don't...know."

"Just as I feared," he said shaking his head. "Whatever happened caused you to loose your memory. Do you remember anything?"

He thought for a moment and thought he remembered something carrying him somewhere and holding him gently. It was such a warm feeling compared to the cold and void he always felt. But he shook his head.

"Well, it seems that your well enough to walk around. Here's an address where you can have a place to stay. Come back later on and we'll examine you further."

Not knowing what else to do, he obeyed and left the hospital. It was raining outside, and it was pretty late in the evening. Trowa walked, hands in pockets with his face down, down the street. The drops of rain slowly ran down his face. The street lamps didn't seem to brighten his path. He was lost. He had no idea what to do.

A voice then said, "Trowa! Where've you been?" It was a girl with short brown hair and blue eyes. She smiled at him in greeting. Trowa didn't reply to her, but looked at her with empty, tired eyes.

"Who are you?"

"Come on! Don't tell me you forgot your sister, Catherine, have you?"

"Cath...rine?" he asked weakly.

"Oh god Trowa!" She became terrified. The look he had given her was so empty, so lost. What could've happened to him? Realizing that he had lost his memory, she took him back with her to the circus tent where the manager was waiting inside the tent.

"Catherine!" the manager called. "Good, you found Trowa. Listen here, boy, I don't want you sneaking off places ever again do you hear?"

"Stop!" cried Catherine. "I'm taking Trowa to his trailer. I'll come back later."

The manager looked angrily at her daring remark towards him, but she paid no attention to him. She led Trowa to his old trailer, and sat on the couch next to him.

"Trowa, what happened?" she asked with deep concern.

"Is that...my name?" he asked staring at the floor.

"Yes. I'm Catherine, your sister."

"My...sister."

"Oh Trowa!" she cried out with tears. "I don't want to see you like this! What happened that made this happen to you! I can't bear it!" Tears ran down her face and Trowa watched her cry not knowing what to do. She wiped them away and said, "Listen, Trowa. This is the circus, your home. No matter what happens from now on, I'll be here to protect you. Nothing will ever harm you again. I know that you'll have to get adjusted with this, but you'll learn. I'll always be here to help out, all right?" She smiled.

"All right, Catherine."

She left the trailer and went out to tell the manager what had happened. He was waiting inside the circus tent arms folded and looking cross.

"What was that all about Catherine?" he asked.

"Please, I don't want you to be hard on Trowa anymore. He's going through a lot of pain right now."

"Pain?"

"Yes. He lost his memory. Probably during battle. It's a miracle that he made it out alive. He doesn't remember anything: the battles, the circus...or even me. We can't let him near anymore battles. This is to protect him. We have no other choice."

"I see. Do you think he'll ever remember?"

"I don't know. I really don't know."
