Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Mission Complete ❯ Sure, Why Not? ( Chapter 6 )
Sure, Why Not?
You shrug. "Fine, whatever. It's not like I've got anything else to do. But first, tell me how I know I can trust you? How do I know you're not part of OZ?"
Duo grins, looking like he was just waiting for you to ask. "I run and hide but I never tell a lie. I'm not with OZ, and I'm telling you that you can trust me. Good enough for you?"
You give him a sideways look, trying to hide your own smile. "You know, Duo, if that turns out to be a lie, I'm going to be really, really annoyed."
Duo just looks at you innocently. "Alright, but I promise you it isn't. Shall we get going now?"
You nod. "Lead the way. But if your friends try to kill me, I won't be too happy about it."
"They won't," Duo assures you. "At least, Quatre won't. Heero, Trowa, and Wufei I'm not so sure about."
"Three out of five," you mutter. "If I die, I'm blaming it on you."
"Don't worry," Duo says cheerfully. "I'm the god of death. Quatre and I will at least make sure they won't murder you as soon as they see you."
"That's reassuring…"
"Hey! There they are now!" Duo waves to a group of four people, who are standing near the gate and watching the base burn. "Hey guys! Over here!"
They turn to see Duo, with you following behind and staying in the shadows, but still where they can see you. You consider taking the OZ uniform off for a moment, but decide against it, seeing as there's so little time. Duo reaches the other boys and turns to you, blinking when he sees you half-hiding. "Hey, what're you doing? Get over here!"
"Remember, Duo, if I die, it's your fault," you grumble, just loud enough for him to hear. He grins blandly. You sigh and step out of the shadows.
Immediately, three guns are trained on you. The fourth boy studies you silently, but doesn't reach for his weapon. You immediately yell, "DUO!"
"Hey, I warned you this might happen…"
"You also said you'd make sure they didn't murder me as soon as they saw me."
He sweatdrops. "Uh, yeah. Um, guys, don't kill her… please?"
"You told her your name?" one of the other boys asks, his hard blue eyes never leaving you.
"Well, yeah, considering she's the one who blew that place up…"
"Really?" one of the others asks, the one who doesn't have a gun aimed at you. He has blond hair and aquamarine eyes, and is probably the one Duo said wouldn't try to kill you. Quatre, his name was. "What's your name?"
You tell him, and then add, "If you want proof that I was the one who did it…" You dig in your pockets for the switch, wondering why you even kept it there in the first place. You find it and toss it to him. "There. And the only reason I'm wearing this stupid uniform was so I could get in. Now will you PLEASE take your guns off me?"
Quatre glances at the switch in his hand and presses it tentatively. Nothing happens, considering all the bombs already went off. He nods to the other three, who lower their guns and form a circle around you.
"Thank you," you mutter. "And Duo, thank you too for all your help." You proceed to rip the uniform off, revealing the skintight black suit you had been wearing underneath it. If the others wanted proof that you weren't with OZ, this was another clue: you were obviously on a stealth mission before you put on the uniform.
"We still don't believe you," the one with messy brown hair and cobalt eyes states.
"What, the switch and blown base aren't enough?"
"There was supposed to be an attack on the ESUN today. You could've just been in the right place at the right time," he continues, ignoring you. You gulp slightly; you hadn't been informed of that little detail.
Duo is starting to look highly uncomfortable. "Hey guys? What do you think are the chances that she hit the switch and the base blows up a few seconds later?"
The others don't bother to answer, but are staring intently at you. You're doing some quick thinking; obviously, these boys are also against OZ and might be some useful allies. On the other hand, though, this isn't exactly the best situation and you might not be able to convince them that you're on their side.
