Normal Days

"Move your foot!"

"That's not my foot."

"Well your gun then!"

"I can't"

"Well why not?"

"Because Duo's got so much stuff back here that there's hardly anywhere to sit. And even if you manage to find somewhere it's going to be uncomfortable."

"Well, you could at least make the effort to move the thing."

"Will you just shut up!"

That argument continued between Heero and Wufei in the back of Duo's pick-up truck. Trowa just sat there listening to the bickering.

Soon he lost himself in his thoughts. But he was brought back when Wufei jerked him back to reality. He looked up to find Wufei and Heero staring right into his face.

"Trowa," Heero said, "are you alright? You were just staring off into nowhere"

"Huh… yeah, sure, I'm fine."

"You sure?" Wufei asked.

"Yeah."

They had a nice chat the rest of the way. Most of it was about talking to Duo to get rid of his junk.

Meanwhile up front in the cab of the truck sat Duo and Quatre.

"Are you sure there's enough room back there for the 3 of them?" Quatre asked.

"Yeah, all I have back there is my tool chest, jumper cables, a spare tire, my ice chest full of Mountain Dew and a few small things."

"That doesn't leave very much room."

"There is if you put everything in just right." Duo thought for a second. "Maybe there isn't enough room. They'll just have to make do."

Duo reached his arm forward to turn on the radio. He had in on the rock station but changed it because it was reporting the news that would last for about and hour. Know he was listening to `Girls lie too' on the country station.

They rode in silence the rest of the way, or at least most of the way. Duo had to sing along with `Save a horse. Ride a cowboy' when it came on the radio.

They finally arrived at they're destination. The Peacecraft Zoological Park. The only problem was they couldn't find a parking spot. They finally found one at the far corner.

"Why in the world does it have to be so crowded? Its not like it's the only tourist attraction around. There's the aquarium, the water park, and the museums. But nooo, they had to come here." Duo gripped

"Why don't we just do there instead."

"Because this is where you get to see lions, and tigers, and bears."

"Oh my." Said Quatre shaking his head.

"Besides I won 5 tickets so we get in free."

They walked all the way to the entrance only to be stopped by the metal detector when Heero tried to enter.

Security came by and found his gun.

"And what where we planning on doing with this?" Security Guard 1 asked.

"Defending myself if I had to. It goes with me everywhere."

"Well here it stays with us or you go to jail." Security Guard 2 said.

Heero glared at the 2 oversized men. "I know your just trying to do your job, but I'm sure in this case you can make an exception."

The confidence in the 2 men seemed to falter from the intensity of the glare. They lost the cocky attitude at once.

"We can't let you." Said Guard 2 "Especially today. Ms. Relena is here today.

"Well that's understandable. But I have a question. Why the hell aren't you guarding her?"

"She insisted on going in alone. We tried to get her to change her mind but she said she didn't want to draw a crowd."

"You let her go in there by herself? She's alone!?" Heero said grabbing a guard by his shirt.

"Y-yes." The guard replied while the other guard started to back away.

"YOU FOOL!!" he yelled knocking the guard out cold, blood trickling down his face.

Heero ran off into the zoo forgetting about the gun. He always had his hands.

"STOP!" yelled the conscious guard attempting to run after him.

He was stopped by Wufei who punched him in the gut.

"It's for your own good," he said when the guard doubled-over in pain. "If you had went after him, he would have killed you."

Duo went up to the lady at the admissions both who was staring at the defeated guards. She looked up and gasped.

"Eh… we have tickets." He said holding them for her to take.

She reluctantly took them. She gave them a map, asked if that was all in a weak voice, and when he replied it was slammed the sliding window closed.

"That was…exciting" Quatre stated.

"Let's just hurry up and get to the fist exhibit." Said Wufei.

They looked at the map trying to set a coarse that would be the best for seeing all the animals in the least amount of time.

They took the trail farthest to the right,(There were 4 trails. Put them where you want to) toward the birds.

They came to a bird that looked a lot like a vulture. It had a black body and except for a few feathers it's head and neck was mostly bare with shades of pink, red, orange, yellow, and light blue.

A little red headed boy was already there and asked, "What is it."

Quatre found the information stand in front of the cage and read, "California Condor. (Gymnogyps californianus) The California condor is classified as a member of the order Falconiformes and is a member of the family Cathartidae. It is classified as a critically endangered species due to an estimated population of less than 50 mature individuals. The California condor can be found in the United States."

Quatre then went over to the little boy who could have been no more than ten years old and knelt down next to him. He found it odd that such a young boy was alone in a zoo.

The others, noticing the same thing, gathered around.

"Are you lost little boy."

He slowly nodded his head.

"What's your name?" Duo asked him, in a gentle voice.

"Andrew." He replied softly.

"Would you like to come with us until we find your parents?" Quatre asked.

"They aren't here." He said, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Well, who are you here with?" Trowa asked.

"No one."

"So you snuck in?" Wufei asked.

He nodded.

"Do you need us to take you home?"

"I ain't got a home. I ain't got no parents neither." He said shaking his head.

Duo could see the child was trying not to cry. His gray eyes were beginning water. Duo stoked the young boys hair and then suddenly pulled him into a deep hug.
