Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Not as Alone as You Think ❯ Chapter 2
All standard diclaimers apply, these characters are not mine no matter how much I wish they were.
NOTE: Sorry it took so long, I suck at mech fights. External exam time over in good old England. The joy of Chemoire. Last week all that was going round my head was things like "electrophilebenzeneelimination...". You get the picture ;o)
Back to the story...
Not as alone as you think... Chapter Two.
Duo jumped aboard his mobile suit Deathscythe and activated the view screens before anything else. The schematics flowed on all sides yet somehow the boy managed to keep up with them whilst fully activating his suit.
//Aww man! 50 OZ mobile suits? What the hell is going on here? There's gotta be something deeper than just wiping out a Gundam, but what?\\
Duo raised Deathscythe to his feet and enabled the cloaking that made him invisible to radar. The alarm that had awoken him from his mathsy daze was far quieter here and it was much easier to think.
//Now come on think! Why the hell would OZ attack here? There's no obvious strategic advantage for controlling this area, and there have been no attacks by a Gundam here, so why are they attacking? The only reason I can think of is me. Fantastic.\\
"Come on Deathscythe; let's show them what we're made of. Oh and try not to stand on Heero, I think I saw him coming this way."
//Yeah that guy's not human; I wouldn't like to have to clean Heero-mush off the bottom of my Gundam. It'll probably be Sulphuric acid or something. Woah I learned some chemistry! There's hope for my grades yet.\\
The giant mobile suit flew towards the specified coordinates, its pilot watching the surroundings carefully. On the radar a large mass of metal war machines were massed together.
//Any sensible person would run away, but whoever said I was sensible? I have a mission, and I must carry it out. Shinigami is back in the picture!\\
As the Gundam known as zero two approached the first of the OZ suits, the beam scythe got to work, swiftly destroying the stragglers from the group ahead. It felt strangely good to know that you control people's existence, and that with the touch of a button you could destroy them.
"GERONIMO!!!!" Duo sliced his way through another five suits, feeling the adrenaline pumping even though his training had put him on auto pilot. All the years of fighting for survival on the streets of the colonies had mad him unafraid of death, such an advantage in this business.
//Fear only makes you a weak soldier. I wonder what Heero 'I'm Perfect' Yuy would be like in a mobile suit? Shinigami help me if I ever had to fight against him. He'd probably be as perfect then as he is at everything else.\\
"Get the fuck outta my way loser!" Duo screamed as a particularly stubborn Mobile Suit was destroyed. He swung Deathscythe around and stopped dead. There, about 20 feet in front of him was another mobile suit. But unlike the OZ suits, this one was much larger; much more heavily armed, and obviously had a very skilled pilot.
//Shit! That mobile suit looks exactly like mine! It can't be another Gundam can it? Hey if I can beat that pilot it's free spares for a while. Must remember to do that after the mission is completed. This enemy is weak. They're gonna meet their makers today, they're all gonna die. Every last one of them.\\
Duo closed his eyes and felt his mobile suit obeying his every command. A warning sounded, another suit had targeted him, Duo impulsively spun around, 75 degrees anti-clockwise, 60 degrees elevation.
//Bang you're dead! Too easy. I don't even have to look.\\
***
A deathly silence filtered over the battlefield. The school was still intact //unfortunately\\ although the remains of mass produced mobile suits were littered everywhere, like the remains of a rather violent children's game. Duo yawned. Why did killing always make him sleepy?
//I'm sure there was something I should have done? I had breakfast, I went to maths. Boy did I go to maths! Mission completed... It's not lunchtime is it?\\
A large jolt almost threw Duo out of his cockpit seat. Another loud noise and Deathscythe fell to the ground in a heap. Inside the cockpit Duo's restraints snapped, and he fell to the floor. The cool, dark metal seemed to be moving towards his face in slow motion, although he knew it was probably just fear making it seem it was slow motion, the demons inside his mind wanted to prolong the torture for as long as possible, never mind the laws of physics. The last thing Duo saw was the Gundanium alloy of his cockpit floor smash violently into his face.
