Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ nothing to say ❯ nothing to say ( One-Shot )
[ A - All Readers ]
AN: Just a thought really, no real plot… just some coffee, a computer, and an inspiration. You know, inspiration comes more easily in the middle of the night… when you're supposed to be studying for a test, and an important one at that.
This is at least two years old… so it's not really on par with anything I've written (but haven't posted). Regardless, enjoy. ^^
She had been staring at him for quite some time now and though he gave no indication that he was aware of was being watched he would occasionally pause mid-word, as if thinking, before returning to work. Now, this wouldn't naturally be an odd thing to do as people do get tired or come at a loss of words, but he wasn't exactly a normal person. His mind worked as a computer would and he was he was always completely thorough - meaning that he would have known what he was going to do before he knew it, thus his pause mid-word would appear quite odd. In addition, him getting tired this early on in the day was probably almost impossible - he was a well trained agent of the Preventer Organization after all (not that he received any training from them).
The young woman, now, hadn't been entirely aware that she had been staring - she thought it quite rude actually, to stare at a person, especially if they were just several feet away and more so when you're not conversing with that person. Thing is, the relationship (if you'd call it that) isn't exactly what other's would call a relationship; they were seen more as… well, they weren't exactly seen as being together, not that they weren't always together… Confusing? Yes, it is… To elaborate more coherently, she was a politician, and a powerful one at that, and he was well…he was her self-appointed bodyguard. So, technically, there were always together but not `together' as a couple would be together… or at least, that's what people believed. And truth be told, they were right - the two weren't officially together… as a couple. There were a few who would beg to differ but that's how it's been for quite some time, three years to be exact… and though there would be subtle hints that there was something more that would suggest something was going on between the two, there was never any concrete evidence that would prove such a theory… and thus it remained a theory (one yet to be proven).
Brushing her out of character behavior, she returned to her work… but just as she had resumed her typing, he stood and turned to leave. She was mildly saddened by his leaving and was about to say something to him… maybe, goodbye or see you later, but nothing that didn't make sound like a complete idiot - this wasn't goodbye because she would see him later and saying `see you later' would sound like she had nothing to say… or something like that.
“Wait…” Did she just say that?
He paused at the door and waited to hear what she had to say though he didn't turn around completely - more like half way really - to see her, but he said nothing himself.
A long silence ensued and she immediately regretted delaying his departure. She had been an idiot the entire time he'd been there and just when she was becoming accustomed to his presence, he decided to up and leave - well, he was done…She pushed her frivolous thoughts aside and opened her mouth to say something. “I… uh…”
…She had nothing to say, but that realization came just a tad bit too late.
He turned to face her fully as if to say something, probably to scold her for delaying him or to tell her to finish her speech… but instead, a small, barely noticeable, smile coming to his lips. It had only lasted for a moment but it was a smile, and coming from him…She couldn't do anything but smile back…
