Once Upon

A young woman sat on her balcony, the wind blowing over her tiny figure, as she pulled her robe closer to her body, looking up at the stars that loomed overhead, "Heero…" She mumbled letting the wind take her words away, and the darkness of that lonely night, like so many before. "Where are you, Heero?" As she felt a single tear roll down her cheek and plant it self on her lap. Just as she said that a shooting star zoomed passed quickly. Closing her eyes and looking were the star had fallen she made a wish. `Star light star bright, I wish I may I wish I might have the wish I wish tonight…" She mumbled, she had learned that little saying when she little her step. Mother had taught it her. " Please if this ever comes true please bring Heero back to me soon, I miss him dearly." She said aloud. After starring up at the stars for a little longer she got up and walked inside. She turned once more before going in and wished again, going in and closing the door along with the curtains.

The next morning…

Relena refused to open her eyes, she had been crying a little bit and it hurt her to open them. She kicked back the covers and looked around with tired and red eyes, anyone could tell that she had been crying.

Her normally straight and good groomed hair was all messed up and, one of her tank-top straps had fallen in place on the side of her shoulder and her night shorts were up almost to her crotch.

She looked over at the clock, it read 9:45 a.m. She groaned and got up out of bed noticing, a folded piece of paper with her name written on it. Picking it up she cautionly, she read it.

Dear Relena,

I have something I need to tell you, please come to the park at exactly 3:00 p.m. I will be waiting under the oldest tree in the park next to the lake. Please come.

She turned it over in her hands looking for a signature but found nothing. She carried it to her private bathroom, thinking about who it could be and how it got in her room. She put it down and wondered over to her closet. Opening the door and walking into her regulating large closet, but being the princess and all didn't surprise very many people, including being the vice foreign minister. Since her brother told her to get some rest and take a long vacation she didn't have to work until her brother came and told her to come back. So naturally she wore something that would be comtaferble. After an uncountable number of time she finally found something. Picking out some blue flare jeans, a baby blue tank top some sandals a jean jacket, just in case, they were expecting rain, a black choker necklace with a little mood circle at the end, and her hair down with no make-up. Walking out of her bathroom she found another note in the same place as last time, on the chest at the foot of her bed. She opened it and read this in her mind.

Dear Relena,

There's been a change in plans you need to come down to the park at 10:00 a.m. I think it better to get it over with.

Relena looked over at the clock and gasped it was 2 minutes till ten. Dropping the note she grabbed her keys and ran out the door, almost running over her brother in the hall as she left her room. "Sorry Milliardo, I'm in a hurry." She said moving and running down the hall. "Where are you going?" He called after her, I'm late meeting some friends, bye!" Then she was gone. Running down the long hallways of the peacecraft mansion, there were only two noises that Relena heard. The flop of her shoes hitting her bare feet, and her heavy breathing.

When she finally got down to her baby blue convertible, she was completely out of breath, but she knew that she had no time to spare as she ran to the other side of her car fiddling with her keys, when she finally found the right one she slipped it through the key hole unlocking her car. Getting in as quickly as possible. Fiddling with her keys once more she found the right key and drove off like a manic. Her brother, who was watching from window, had a concerned look plastered across his features. `Some things wrong I know it. She's been much later for her friends before, I wonder if she finally found someone?' He thought, turning away from the window.

By the time Relena got to the park, it was almost 11:00. There had been a lot of traffic so she had put the hood down on her convertible. Literally she jumped out of the car and ran as fast she could to the other side of the park. As the tree and lake came into view Relena slowed to a walk. Breathing heavily. "Finally no more running, I just need to rest. As she neared the tree she didn't notice the figure that loomed overhead, watching her as she neared and sat down leaning her head up against the trunk of the tree. Closing her eyes.

The figure in the tree moved quietly through it. He went and got in position to wear he was right above her. He got one of the flowers off the tree and dropped it in her lap, ready to move at any time. Incase she looked up.

Relena opened her eyes and looked down, there on her lap sat a single flower, all alone. Relena's eyes watered up as she thought of being the only one out of all her friends that was alone and not married.

Duo and Hilde, with a son

Wufei and sally with twins two girls and boy

Quatre and Dorthy with a daughter

Trowa and Cathrine son and a daughter

And all that was left was Relena; she pulled her knees to her chest and cried not knowing that Heero loomed overhead. His heart broke at the site of her crying, once Relena had calmed down she leaned her head against the tree her face was facing the sky. She bit her lip and finally opened her eyes, and her jaw almost dropped. "Heero…" She whispered looking up at him. As he looked back down at her he cracked a smile, nodding his head for her to come up. Relena smiled at him and stood up, climbing the branches, taking her time. When she reached the spot were Heero was he was gone. She heard rustling and knew it was him. "I know you're here some where Heero Yuy." She said to the missing Heero. He smirked. "You'll have to find me first." She heard this and headed in the opposite why from where she heard the voice. On her way to find her prince she slipped and fell heading straight for the ground. She closed her eyes tight knowing that from the height she was at it would inflict major damage to her body, feeling the wind hit her skin, she covered her head and before she hit the ground something grabbed her around the waist. She didn't open her eyes thinking that she might die with her fragile body.

Heero had heard her slip and hung onto the tree, and grabbed Relena with his other arm. Pulling her up back into the tree he sat on a leveled part of the tree with her in his lap, shaking widely, eyes closed tight, head bent down, with her head lent up against his hard but soft chest. He gently wrapped his arms around her, not to scare her. As he did he felt her jump. "Lena it's me, Heero your safe I caught you." He said resting his head in her hair. "H…Heero?" Relena asked finally opening her eyes. She looked up at him and he smiled. Her eyes watered up, as Heero's heart sank, thinking he had made her cry he said, " I'm sorry I made you cry Lena." His face was full of hurt as was his heart. "No Heero I'm not crying because of you, I'm just…happy." She said softly giggling a bit and light tears ran down her cheeks. "Thank you Heero, for saving my only life." Relena said letting her hands and arms find their way around his neck, pulling her face up to the crook of his neck. He was surprised at first but snaked his arms around her waist. Hugging her back, tightly. Not to tight as to hurt her but you get the picture. They stayed like for what seemed to be an eternity, before they finally let go. That's when Relena remembered the 2 notes that he had possibly left in her room. "Heero?" Relena asked breaking the silence that had grown between them. "Um?" He said rocking her gently back and forth. "How did you get those notes in my room, this morning?" She had layed her head on his chest, one arm around his neck the other flat against her stomach, with her legs daggling over the side of Heero's leg. "Well I put that first one in there in the middle of the night, and the other while you were in the bathroom. Sneaking in there when I saw the chance."

Heero said. And he was quite comfortable in his position, his head on hers, arms around her waist and cross-legged. Soon Relena had dozed off into a light snooze. Heero noticed and smiled down at her. "She's like an angel. No wait," Heero caught himself and said, " She is an angel, my angel, and mine only."

As time passed up in the tree you could hear the pouring of rain, as a few drops got through the thick leaves of the Huge oak tree, landing on him and Relena. Relena feeling the drops on her skin opened her blue eyes. "Make the rain stop Heero." Relena said snuggling deeper into his warm chest. He smiled down at her and said; "You know there's nothing I can do about it so might as well enjoy it while it last." Relena looked up at him with a totally confused look across her face. "What'd ya mean Heero?" He smirked and stood up, going over to the edge of the leveled Tree bark that they had been so comfortable on. Jumping off, scaring the living day lights out of Relena, while Heero stayed Perfectly calm, with him being the perfect solider and all, but he was slowly turning into a human being.

When they landed safely on the ground, Relena was clutching for dear life onto Heero's shirt, her eyes shut tight and shaking wildly. He smiled down at her leaning down and kissing her forehead. "We're fine, you can open your eyes now." She open one eye and looked around, she was secretly cherishing the kiss he had given her, even if it was only to her forehead. "You scared me Heero. Please don't EVER do that again." He nodded his head and put her down back on her feet. It felt weird to stand on her own feet again, as if she had never walked before. All of a sudden Heero grabbed her wrist, causing Relena to look up in start. "W-w-what are you doing?" Relena said with fear taking over her normally tranquil features. He smiled at her, and drew her out into the rain. Feeling the water hit her skin and hair, she looked down at her clothes a little bit, then returning her gaze back to the beautiful creature in front of her. She just couldn't tear her eyes away from his soaking wet form. He bent down his months right next to her ear, "Let's play a game." He whispered. "What kind of game?" She asked as he still held her wrist in his tight grip. "How about this game." He said moving his lips from her ear and onto her month. Relena was shocked at first but she knew this is what she longed to do since she first met him. His grip loosened on her wrist, sliding her wrist out of his hands she snaked them around his neck, deepening the kiss, timidly he put his own arms tightly around her waist.

A few more minutes and they broke for air. Putting their foreheads up against each other's. "Relena I have something important to tell you." He said the smile fading from his face, with a look of worry in his eyes as he looked away. Relena's smile faded also, thinking that he would leave, to go on a suicide mission, or something. Her bottom lip started to quiver, as her eyes watered up she undid her arms from his neck and backed away. Heero looked up startled by her sudden move. "Lena, what's wrong?" He said noticing that she crying. "You're going to leave me again aren't you?" She had backed up against the tree. The tears finally spilled over the edge. "Relena no I'm not…" She turned and started to run back to her car. After a few minutes of just standing there he broke out into a run to catch Relena. But when he finally saw her body come into view his face paled. She was laying on the ground, blood trickling down her forehead. Passed out. He got to her side and picked up her head putting her in the sitting position, he looked at her, and scanned over her body for any sign of life, but found none. For once the perfect solider sat with Relena in his lap once again, one hand behind her head, the other tightly around her waist, just crying.

He sat there for what seemed to be an eternity just holding her. Letting the rain wash away his tears as he felt her slip away, bit by bit. "No Lena, please don't go, you can't leave me now." He whispered in her ear. "Because I need to tell that, I love you. That's why you can't go now, no not now."

The lord must have seen them and had mercy on them, for he gave Relena her life back, giving her a second chance.

She started breathing against his stomach, which was right up next to his. She slowly regained conciseness. But Heero who didn't' notice until the last minute when he heard a very weak voice call his name through the rain. "Relena." He put her to where he could see her face. Her eyes were open by the tiniest bit. A smile creeping onto her blood stained face. "Relena, your alive!" He said hugging her again. When Heero put her to where she could see his face, she noticed that he had tears in his eyes. "Why are you crying Heero?" She said reaching out and brushing his tears away. "I've never seen you cry, why now?" Heero looked down at her and smiled leaning forward and saying in her ear, "Because I almost, my reason for living." He said laying his head on her shoulder. She worked the strength and put her arms around his neck. "I love you my prince." She whispered, he barely heard it, cause of the pouring rain. "I love you too, my Princess. And what happened back at the tree, well I going to tell you how I felt, but you ran thinking I was leaving, but why would I do something like that, I'll never leave you." He whispered in her ear. Relena at his words had once again started crying on his shoulder. Feeling the warm drops on his skin he looked back at her, pulling her into face view. She was crying again.

His eyes softened at the site. "I'm…" Relena stopped him before he could he could speak. "Heero, I'm just happy nothing to worry about." Leaned up and put her head against his, noticing the sharp pain that went through it. "Ow!" she said pulling out of his tight embrace, sitting on her knees in front of Heero. Touching her hand to her forehead she looked up. "What happened to me Heero, my head hurts badly." She looked back at him.
